I am still trying to figure out what happened to Sandra Bland. I know what the police in Texas say happened, but you will have to excuse me if I don't believe it.
You see, I happen to be a black man in America, and I have been paying close attention to what has been happening to people of color when they come in contact with law enforcement over the past few months.
So anyway, while we are still trying to figure out what happened to Sandra Bland, the sad and horrific story of Kindra Darnell Chapman (in picture) got my attention.
Here is how the story was told by a "main stream" website which is run by a major newspaper in the state of Alabama:
"An 18-year-old girl hanged herself in the Homewood City Jail Tuesday night.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the inmate as Kindra Darnell Chapman. Chapman was booked in the jail at 6:22 p.m., on a first-degree robbery charge. Homewood police said she robbed another person of a cell phone in the 1600 block of Lakeshore Court.
Jailers last saw her alive at 6:30 p.m. She was found unresponsive at 7:50 p.m. Authorities said she used a bed sheet to hang herself.
Chapman was taken to Brookwood Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available." [Source]
Yes, and I am sure that we will get the truth from law enforcement in Alabama.
My first thought about this incident was that we have been down this road before.
Remember Sheneque Proctor? She was also 18 when she was found dead in an Alabama jail cell.
Being hung in a jail cell should not be a right of passage for young women of color in Alabama. Sadly it seems that it might not be such a stretch to say that it is.
#IfIDieInPoliceCustody is currently trending on black twitter.
Because if we don't bring attention to these cases, no one else will.
Field, "You see, I happen to be a black man in America...."
ReplyDeleteWell, whenever I state, "I am Black", you and asshole Purple Cow say I am not Black.
So I am returning the favor: You are not Black...and PC is a flunky for the man.
Every time a black person dies, it's a ebil white racist's fault.

Race is a social construct, as Purple Cow has taught us. Therefore, Alzheimers could not effect blacks any differently than it does whites.
It's called science. Get with it.
Lol. I know right? Just like with organ donors, they prefer to have the donor the same race as the person receiving it. But yeah race is just a social construct. Riiiiight.

Obama, despite his phony MLK-esque affectation and equally phony church affiliation, is not “black” in any meaningful sense. Michelle is his only real link to the American black community and they seem to loathe each other in the way that only couples of mixed backgrounds can. Barack is a rootless cosmopolitan, a pampered Ivy Leaguer; another boring deracinated member of the bourgeoisie. His bloviations about race are just the standard-model opinions of the American Sociological Association and NYT editorial board. His “radical” presidency is Paul Krugman, not Al Sharpton.
ReplyDelete"Obama, despite his phony MLK-esque affectation and equally phony church affiliation, is not ‘black’ in any meaningful sense.”
ReplyDeleteHe’s black in the sense that the way he governs is exactly in line with the way any other black man smart enough to get elected president would govern. He’s corrupt, he’s flippant, he’s obsessed with race, he’s completely dismissive of the constitutional limits on his office, he’s obsessed with taking credit for himself when things go right and passing the buck when things go wrong, and he clings to ideas which offend any notion of common sense.
He is a black man – not in his upbringing, but in his DNA. Indeed, he is living proof that nature matters more than nurture.

The actual, real-world policy Obama has been focused on this year is pushing through TPP, which will make the giant corporations of the world even more powerful, letting them take entire countries to special courts to sue them over regulations they don’t like, and super-charging “intellectual property rights” that last forever, in direct violation of our common law tradition and Constitution’s “limited” terms.
ReplyDeleteObama’s second term will be more corporate centrism and more small-scale, random, stumbling belligerence abroad. Then in 2017 he’ll cash in playing golf and charging $250,000-$2 million for “giving speeches” to all the big corporations he spent 8 years helping, and perhaps join some corporate boards and make $10 million a year in stock options to work 3 days a year.
Also, Obama’s corporatism mainly benefits the rich, a very white group, and on top of this a very not-black group. The only important anti-white part of his agenda, aside from ineffective “diversity” window dressing, is amnesty, which happens to be the anti-white agenda item the elite wants.
FP keeps saying Blacks are the chosen ones. Chosen for what? Slavery?

ReplyDeleteWell - here's a novel idea.
Don't break the law. Don't steal, don't rob, don't assault, don't rape, don't drive so aggressively you endanger others on the road.
Right there solves your "problem".
You're welcome.
All of the police killings are going to make people even more paranoid when they get stopped or confronted by police. And that will perpetuate result more incidents ending badly. People will react differently to someone who is going to give them a ticket than they will to someone who they think is going to kill them.
ReplyDelete"His bloviations about race are just the standard-model opinions of the American Sociological Association and NYT editorial board. His “radical” presidency is Paul Krugman, not Al Sharpton."
ReplyDeleteHaha, you'd prefer Al Sharpton, then? Somehow, I kind of doubt it.
(I'm still trying to recall when, exactly, Obama campaigned for office as some kind of black radical. Didn't happen.)
So, some of these Southern Republicans are not going gentle into that good night on the whole "celebrating the Confederacy" issue.
ReplyDeleteThis one was particularly egregious. Andy Holt, a state legislator in Tennessee had the temerity to suggest that Nathan Bedford Forrest, First Grand Wizard of the KKK, was a civil rights leader. He wrote this in a newspaper editorial, even. Can you believe this shit?
http://www.jacksonsun.com/story/opinion/2015/07/16/rep-holt-nathan-forrest-one-souths-first-civil-rights-leaders/30246083/
According to Mr. Holt:
"The very idea of treating someone differently and not awarding them the same opportunities because of the color of their skin is absolutely disgusting. Were he alive today, Gen. Forrest would agree. In fact, Forrest was one of the South’s first civil rights leaders — a fact lost on many politicians looking to capitalize off the South Carolina tragedy."
*facepalm*

ReplyDeleteHe’s black in the sense that the way he governs is exactly in line with the way any other black man smart enough to get elected president would govern. He’s corrupt[evidence, please], he’s flippant [he isn't a sense-of-humor-impaired Republican], he’s obsessed with race [being black, he's not happy about racism], he’s completely dismissive of the constitutional limits on his office [he's pushed, but not exceeded, the legal limits of his office in response to a reflexively obstructionist Congress], he’s obsessed with taking credit for himself when things go right and passing the buck when things go wrong [he actually has some successes to his name, unlike his predecessor], and he clings to ideas which offend any notion of common sense [he's a liberal -- find a way to cope with this "terrifying" reality].

More hilarious Republican racism, and the reaction to it:
ReplyDeleteJulian Castro, the head of HUD, pointed out, accurately, that "The GOP can kiss the Latino vote goodbye,” courtesy of the moronic antics of The Donald.
Congressman Steve King, massive Latino-hating bigot, responded by saying "What does Julian Castro know? Does he know that I'm as Hispanic and Latino as he?"
In turn, Internet vandals responded by altering Steve King's Wikipedia entry to say that Steve King was born "Esteban Arnoldo 'Arbo' Rey."
Bwahahaha. Gotta love American politics.
Latino votes don't matter.
ReplyDeleteBlack votes don't matter.
American politics is a contest between two groups of white people.
What miserable drones and traitors have we nourished and brought up in our household, who let us be treated with such shameless contempt by a low-born law instructor?
ReplyDeleteI must confess, were I a Leftist I’d be delighted at this turn of events: every “conservative” president we’ve had in recent history has actually gotten quite liberal as his term(s) stretched late into the evening – they “grow.” For instance, Ronald Reagan signed into law amendments to the Fair Housing Act in 1988 that the 1966 Reagan would have thrown absolute conniption fits about. “Conservative” presidents tend to start worrying what history will do to their legacies late in their terms – and they know full well who holds that megaphone. So they “grow,” almost always with the urgent pleas of their Republican Party-honcho advisers at the time. Despite that “growth,” the Left still hates them, decades later – which is why the GOP’s reputation as the “Stupid Party” thrives intact.
ReplyDeleteObama is a doctrinaire Leftist – and he knows who holds that megaphone, also. With no more elections to face, he’s scrambling to both (1) do what he always wanted to anyway, i.e, get busy being the “real” Obama just as you speculated he would all those years ago, and (2) rub the rubes faces in it while he’s at it. That’s why the White House was lit up with the Rainbow flag after five unelected liberal justices found hiding in the crevices of the Constitution some heretofore undiscovered “right” for two men playing house to get “married.”
One thing I wish Obama had done while he was in El Reno, U.S.A., is go downtown and look at the memorial to its namesake: Union general Jesse L. Reno. Oklahoma is a border state, largely settled by white Southerners after the territory was opened for our famed (or infamous: YMMV) land grabs. And yet, there was never the slightest impulse to degrade or impugn or tear down memorials to Union heroes in places like El Reno in the wake of total Southern Democrat/Dixiecrat rule in early Twentieth Century America, or any time after for that matter: a testament to how well the wounds of the Civil War finally healed, post-Reconstruction, thanks to sensible, honorable, truly humane outstretching of hands on both sides of the carnage that was that war.
Reconciliation meant you let the other guy celebrate his heroes, his symbols, his heroic battlefields in peace. I would have liked explain this to him – or had someone smarter than me explain it to him – for whatever good it would do.
Those days, of course, are long gone – thanks in large part to tens of millions of Social Justice Warriors who rightly see Obama as their titular ideological head. And while Jesse L. Reno’s statue will never see vandal’s paint splashed across it’s marble facade proclaiming “Core American’s Lives Matter,” on the other side of the divide they are literally digging Confederate general’s long laid to rest up in order to rub a huge segment of the SJW’s ideological enemies noses in the Right Side of History.
Ahhh, Orwell’s boot: stamping on human faces who deserve to have their faces stomped upon is such beguiling business, if you consider yourself on that mythical Right Side of History. I truly doubt pointing out to Obama whom is truly being “divisive” and “intolerant” in 2015 America while standing in front of Union General Jesse L. Reno’s memorial in the middle of the Reddest of Reddest states would do much good, after all. He’d just smile and say “so sue me” – which is why his freelance SJW minions love him. They should.

In America today, there’s nothing contradictory about being both a corporate flunky who collects $250,000 speaking fees and a racial huckster who harangues America about its racism and need for greater diversity. In fact, that can be the topic of his corporate speeches and they’ll lap it up.

Wow, talk about grade inflation.
Under Obama we’ve had confrontation with the Russians over Ukraine with a lot of war hype and a possible return to a cold war situation; saber-rattling against the Chinese, conducting naval maneuvers as a threat to show our support for Vietnam and the Philippines; managed to push Russia and China closer together for their mutual protection; killed Khaddafi, leaving the country chaotic and removing it as a barrier to the migrants headed north to Europe; armed and trained supposed moderate rebels in Syria who weren’t very moderate, helping destroy the country, and only prevented from invading by the Republican congress; Benghazi with all the suspicious behavior of sending weapons to various rebels; the rise of ISIS and our role in helping them get started; the Iraqi debacle; Afghanistan? He said it was something important that Bush neglected. Where are we now after all these years?; Immigration, legal and illegal, we know about that; TPP, which appears to harm American workers.
ReplyDeleteThat’s just off the top of my head and the list can certainly be lengthened. Domestically we’ve had years of racial agitation, government sanctioned black rioting in Ferguson and Baltimore, stepped up affirmative action, expansion of section 8 to all areas with it’s attendant ruin. This country has become polarized like few times before in it’s history. He’ll go on to the celebrity circuit and make his money doing the usual thing, giving speeches. The presidency has just become a way for egotists to gain fame and fortune, nothing in common with the people shown on our money.

Obama’s foreign policy mixes incomprehensible belligerence with equally incomprehensible weakness.
ReplyDeleteIf he had pursued a serious & consistent policy of disengaging the US from foreign quarrels, I could respect him, & maybe even account it a worthwhile exchange for his consistently foolish & malicious domestic policies.
But no. We’re still just as much of an Empire, instead of a Republic, as we were when Obama first took office. We’re just, if possible, even more incompetent about it.

"Black unemployment relative to white unemployment is the worst ever."
ReplyDeleteNo it isn't.
Black unemployment in 1982 was 20%, which was 2 times the white unemployment rate.
Black unemployment today is 15%, which is only 1.5 times the white unemployment rate.
And that's only in out of the last 40 years of employment data:
http://www.bls.gov/spotlight/2010/african_american_history/images/figure07_unemployment_rate.gif
If you're talking about "worst ever," please consider that "ever" is an awful long time. Go back farther and you'd probably find black people doing worse. You may have heard, but Jim Crow was not a good time for black folks.
"Black neighborhoods are in flames. Urban crime rates are exploding."
Nope again. Crime in the black community has always been bad. Racism creates povety. Poverty creates crime.
Nonetheless, crime is far from the worst right now. Crime levels have been falling all over the U.S., everywhere -- including in the black community -- since the 1990s.

"And yet black America still loves him. Obama is still sending their jobs overseas and they love him. He is still dumping hundreds of thousand of wetbacks and refugees on their neighborhoods and they love him. It is amazing how strong and how blind racial solidarity is."
Obama isn't sending jobs anywhere. I don't like his support for the latest trade deal but not because it will result in outsourcing. The TPP doesn't actually lower any tariffs. That's not the problem with it.
Obama also isn't "dumping" anyone here. He supports perfectly sensible immigration law reform that would discourage future illegal immigration. Republicans oppose this only because they also want to kick out illegal immigrants who are already here, many of whom have been here for decades and have laid down lots of roots.
Kicking those people out at this point would be cruel and prohibitively expensive -- certainly not worth it relative to the minor boost in low-end wages it would provide. Of course, folks like you aren't doing the cost-benefit analysis, because your motivation is racist, not rational.
Finally, I'm sure Obama would be happy to invest a lot more cash to improve educational and job prospects for black people. But there are certain people who don't particularly want to invest that money in the black community, who tend to block such spending. These people are called Republicans.
And now for the latest Donald Trump update.
ReplyDeleteTrump has now started a fight with John McCain, for no apparent reason: “He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured? I like people who weren’t captured.”
Fantastic. When you get tired of kicking Mexicans, by all means, have a go at war veterans. Work your way through every single demographic, until the entire nation despises you and your party.
I'm truly starting to believe he is some kind of ingenious Democratic Trojan Horse candidate, designed to blow up the GOP from the inside. Every day is a new, and infinitely more amusing atrocity.
Excellent work, my man. Our insidious liberal master plan has almost reached fruition.

Wow that's some accomplishment. But after 7 years of fudging and changing definitions, no one believes the Obama administration's unemployment data anymore.

TPP.
"Obama also isn't "dumping" anyone here. He supports perfectly sensible immigration law reform that would discourage future illegal immigration.
By making all illegal immigration legal, and dumping 50 to 100 million low wage workers on the US. The only thing that makes that "perfectly sensible" is if your goal is to transform the American people into an easily controllable polyglot mass of cheap laborers.
"Finally, I'm sure Obama would be happy to invest a lot more cash to improve educational and job prospects for black people"
I'm sure he would be happy to waste as much American money as he could, but trillions of dollars down the toilet have proven that black educational and job prospects are not improvable by government spending.
