Goodbye Pope Francis, Philly enjoyed having you. Goodbye John, your fellow Republicans did not enjoy you.

Image result for philly pope Ben Franklin images       I would like to take this time to say goodbye to Pope Francis. It was nice having you here for a couple of days, and you certainly seemed to inspire the faithful.

I know that some business folks are complaining, but I think Philly shined big time for a  national  and international audience.

I got a lot of e-mails and texts from friends who are not from here, who were surprised at how beautiful the Benjamin Franklin Parkway looked for the festivities. (For those of you who have ever traveled to Paris, I think that you will agree with me that it [The Parkway] is the closest thing that you will find to the  Champs-Élysées. )

Image result for philly pope Ben Franklin imagesAnyway, I hope that American politricksters take heed to the big guy's message of inclusiveness and love.

“I ask you not to forget that, like those who came here before you, you bring many gifts to your new nation. You should never be ashamed of your traditions,” the pope said. “I repeat, do not be ashamed of what is part of you, your lifeblood.”

Yo Donald, check the polls. This Pope guy is stealing your thunder.

Anyway, the Pope certainly inspired John Boehner to find his religion and make some life changing moves. Now the devout Catholic is calling out his fellow wingnut politicians for being  "false prophets".

"But the Bible says "Beware of false prophets." There are people out there spreading the noise about how much can get done. This whole idea that we're going to shut down the government to get rid of Obamacare in 2013, that plan never had a chance."

Oh my! Those are strong words from the outgoing speaker.  It's a shame it took a message from His Holiness to make him see the light.  Now it's too little too late. His legacy has already been tarnished.

Finally, let me end this post with some breaking news: Carly Fiorina just had a stage collapse at a campaign event in Texas.

Calm down Mr. Trump, everyone seems to be alright. You're going to have Carly to contend with for the next few months.

  1. John Boner finds religion now huh? He must see something bad coming down the pipe and wants to get the hell out of the way.

I think he's just had enough of the insanity. Boehner is being told by delusional Tea Partiers that he must do things he does not actually have the power to do. I'm sure all the endless shutdown attempts must get old quick.

The Republicans don't need a House speaker. They need a baby wrangler, someone who can shake a set of shiny keys to distract them as necessary, and pop a pacifier in their mouths when they get cranky and need a nap.

Mr Field, it is clear from your sarcasm that you 'were' a person who had faith but lost it. I know how that goes and it's a painful ordeal that will make anybody become an atheist unless their faith runs deep.

John Boehner did not throw away his faith, he kept it. That is why the Pope had such an impact, or rather GOD did.

..and an Eagles win. Pretty good day out there. I think Boner's fellow Republican congressmen showed him the light more than the Pope did,

  5. I'm not generally a pope fan, but I do like Francis. He seems to genuinely try to be a human being, and to wield the enormous influence of his position in a way that could help people.
It's not Ratzinger's fault that he looks like the embodiment of evil, but he didn't help his case any by also acting the part.
And poor little Johnny, I wonder if he's having second thoughts about helping to build the monster that just bit him on his ass...

  6. Do you suppose that stage collapse was divine retribution for bearing false witness on such an enormous scale? Me neither, but it's kinda fun to think about...

If Jehovah had been involved, the curtain wouldn't have fallen down behind her. Instead, her pants would have burst into flames.

dinthebeast, you really ought to show some respect for the holy and sacred. Obviously you are angry at the Church, Religion and God. Of course, you live in the Bay Area where anti-god folks delight in staining the Sacred.

Of course, the bay area is a sanctuary for sin and criminal immigrants.

  11. Farewell To The Pope;
    Goodbye To Boehner.

    We will miss the Pope.
Unlike Obama, he dashed the hope
Of some Americans yearning to be free
From the Huddled Masses to the South,
If we're to believe and agree
With Donald Trumps' big open mouth.

Now that the Pope is gone,
So is Obama's Nemesis on the Right.
    I'd break out in song,
    But he hasn't been gone
    All that long.

    In fact he's still around,
    Standing strong his ground,
    Itching for a fight,
    Facing down a dare,
    That he won't repeal ObamaCare
One last time 'fore leaving town,
If not by day, then surely by night,
If not in a suit, then surely in a gown.

  14. Field, not to return you to your usual unpleasant subject, but I wonder if you caught what Jeb! Bush said at a rally about the black vote. Charles Blow sure did:

  15. “Chanting ‘Death to America!’ does not create jobs or make Iran more secure.”

Chanting "death to america" got Iran a treaty with Obama.

Is Obama having second thoughts about his treaty?

And why is Obama so concerned about jobs in iran when the real unemployment rate in America is over 10%. Even bernie sanders knows the truth about the real unemployment rate.

  16. Anotherbozo, Jeb is getting desperate. He nees to get into double digits in the polls.

I guess he figures that by blowing dog whistles to his base he will get it done.

"It is not necessary to believe in God to be a good person. In a way the traditional notion of God is outdated. One can be spiritual but not religious. It is not necessary to go to church and give money- for many nature can be a church. Some of the best people in history did not believe in God, while some of the worst deeds were done in His name." ~Pope Francis~

  18. Sad that a candidate for a major party sees me as desiring free stuff. I don't need any free shit, I have a damned job. Reason 1,205 that Republicans will never see my vote.

On another note I'll be flying over Oakland Weds nite so I'll throw a wave at Granny and Doug. Doug's a musician so I know he'll be up late.

  19. @PX During your fly over, why don't you throw over a couple boxes of miniature condoms for Field's sexually perverted, Northern Cali troll.

  21. Asked and answered. Time to move on

When mediate is pointing out all the same responses you know Hillary is in trouble.

Now at first, it may appear that these responses were all coordinated in some fashion. However, it would be against the law for campaign officials to coordinate with a pro-Clinton Super PAC director like Brad Woodhouse. So clearly it’s a coincidence that his tweet was identical to Clinton staffer Karen Finney’s.

Vaguely implying black people are lazy is standard operating procedure for Republican politicians and pundits. This is considered acceptable-level bigotry in their party. What has been unusual this campaign season is Trump's willingness to take racism to another level -- of explicit accusations about the bad character of non-white people and implicit promises to do something to rid the country of such "undesirables."

But, of course, come election time, Republicans will turn around and shamelessly gripe about how unfair it is that they get virtually no votes from non-white people and how it's all the fault of that dastardly "liberal media" saying mean things about them.

  28. It sure was wonderful seeing a Man of God receive a hug from a Black man without no fear whatsoever. This Man of God was wonderful. He's a one-of-a-kind-person on this whole planet. God blessed him and through Him, blessed us for 6 whole days. I had tears, watching that beautiful plane take flight in the darkness of night with him on board. I'm not Catholic, not even overly religious, but I love Pope Francis.
