When "freedom fries" come back to bite.

The field Negro education series continues.

The following essay was written by Joseph Palermo for Huffington Post:

"Republican myth-makers like Judith Miller, Newt Gingrich, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Ben Shapiro, and other ideologues, along with the GOP presidential candidates from Donald Trump to Marco Rubio, couldn't wait for all the victims in Paris to be identified before they unleashed a stream of hateful statements about the Paris attacks that serve their dual objectives of trashing President Obama and calling for their own form of jihad against their perceived enemies around the globe.

They're incapable of seeing that by politically exploiting this most recent atrocity, as they do with every other jihadist attack, to push their authoritarian and militaristic agenda they are exposing themselves as being every bit as nihilistic as the terrorists themselves.

Not long ago, in the run up to George W. Bush's invasion of Iraq, these same right-wing Republicans were screaming epithets at France because the country that today the corporate media remind us is "our oldest ally" tried to stop the war before it began.

The French case was that there was not a WMD threat, and that invading Iraq would lead to fragmentation of the country and trigger more terrorism.

Like a good friend who tried to take away the car keys from a power drunk U.S. administration before it got behind the wheel, France had the wisdom and forethought to try to stop the United States from its biggest foreign policy catastrophe since the Vietnam War.

And how did the Republican Right in the U.S. respond?

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives stopped selling French Fries in its cafeteria (which are from Belgium anyway) and changed their name to "Freedom Fries."

They vilified France because the French government had the good sense to try to block Bush and Cheney's war of aggression in Iraq through its United Nations veto power.

The United States had not seen such culinary propaganda since the World War One era, when the U.S. government's Committee on Public Information (the Creel Committee) sought to enflame anti-German sentiment by changing bratwurst to "hotdogs," hamburgers to "Salisbury steak," and sauerkraut to "victory cabbage."

The Republicans displayed the same level of hostility toward the French for opposing their war of choice in Iraq as an earlier generation of American propagandists showed toward Kaiser Wilhelm II.
Right-wing talk radio hosts organized events where their fans poured French wine down gutters as a symbolic protest against the French who dared to question the infinite wisdom of their Commander-in-Chief.

During George W. Bush's vicious 2004 re-election campaign against John Kerry Bush's Secretary of Commerce, Donald Evans, repeatedly said that Kerry "looks French."

The Republican House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay of Texas, began many of his Bush campaign speeches: "As John Kerry would say, bonjour."

At the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City "Democratic" Senator Zell Miller of Georgia received thunderous applause when he trashed John Kerry in his keynote address saying, "Kerry would let Paris decide when America needs defending!"

The same right-wingers that today are using the Paris attacks to further their shrill Manichean worldview denigrated "our oldest ally" for showing the good sense of not going along with Bush's war in Iraq.

This phenomenon demonstrates the fact that since the Bush years the Republicans have dropped all pretense of wanting to build a "kinder and gentler" America or promising a new version of "compassionate conservatism."

They've chosen instead to follow the ignorant and mean-spirited script of their ideological soul mates on right-wing talk radio.

In the context of Bush's ongoing "War on Terror" their situational demagoguery has drifted into the realm of heartless neo-fascism.

They demagogue the Paris attacks while dismissing the idea that the United States could learn a thing or two from France's examples of universal health care and publicly financed elections.

They denounce all who disagree with their war-mongering agenda with the kind of cocky self-assurance that Joe McCarthy showed in the early 1950s.

Last summer when I visited the French city of Strasbourg, a region where the horrifying history of war rings loudly, I stood for a long time inside Our Lady of Strasbourg Cathedral admiring the large memorial inside the cathedral to the fallen American soldiers who died there helping to liberate the city during World War Two.

I thought about the intertwined recent histories of our two countries and how much the French really loved the Americans, which made me all the more ashamed of the Republicans under George W. Bush who ridiculed that country and its people. Their raw partisan statements so soon after the horror in Paris renews this shame and should remind us just how extreme and heartless the party has become in recent years." [Source]

  1. Yeah, those fucking warmongering Republicans are seriously scary. "Oh, there's been a tragedy? Kill Muslims! War! Bombs!"

A little hyperbole, obviously, but these are some scary fuckwits when it comes to how they choose to deal with terror.

However, that's only 1/2 of it; and while that half may be worse than the other half, it's still only half. The other half is that only Republicans are willing to speak the truth to shame the Devil, as it were. It's like pulling teeth to get a liberal politician to even admit that the terror isn't simply a "terrorist attack." It is objectively an Islamic attack. These aren't just people who woke up one day and went terrorist. These are Muslim radicals who went Muslim radical.

Chris Rock, anyone? "That tiger went tiger."

Islam itself, as in the religion, along with Muslims, are in no way incompatible with the west. Conform to our secular values and be embraced! Like Christianity, a secular spike can be driven into the ground, which does a good job of keeping religion on one side (mostly), while keeping the rule of the common people on the other (mostly). This was actually the case in the region many years ago, as the Arab world was leading the charge in scientific discovery and secular values. But then they were brainwashed that math was the devil, and they've been fighting to get back into caves ever since.

The Middle Eastern Islamic culture of today is demonstrably incompatible, necessarily incompatible with western values. And all the "That's racist, you Islamaphobic Hitler Mao Stalin Hitler" in the world doesn't change the fact that we're talking about a culture where the majority of its citizens demand anti-Islamic speech be prosecuted as hate speech, and people who, generally speaking, agree with the penalties dealt out for homosexuality and apostasy.

If the majority of Christians disagreed with SSM, we'd be shaming them as evil monsters. We don't shame Islam even when the culture promotes the murder of innocents. You don't have to be right or left, either or. There exists a huge swath of land in the middle ground whereon you can stand against that horrific culture without advocating for bloody war.

Stefan Molyneux's take on this is superior to any politicians' take, IMHO, where he says the only job we have as human beings, the only responsibility we have to the world, is to stop evil. And this doesn't mean war. It can simply mean speaking the truth and shaming the evil.

There's a truth that exists in the world today. Islamic culture is incompatible with western values. We owe these people nothing. We don't need to play identity politics on this one. Save that for UoM students; let's have some cold, hard truth about the world on this one.

Republicans and their warmongering and wanting to turn the region into a parking lot is, at its core, practically indiscernible from a caliphate, but at least they're willing to speak truthfully about the culprit without shying away from the moronic, nonsensical labels people put on everyone to tell the truth: Racist (as if you can be "racist" toward an ideology lol), Islamaphobe, xenophobe, etc.

Some of us, white people, volunteered to tutor, in violent neighborhoods and at a risk to our safety, young black kids. I volunteered for a few years until I was threatened multiple times by black males in the neighborhood and was twice robbed. I quit after the second robbery.

When did any of you self righteous black, middle class posters or FN ever do a damn thing for less advantaged besides wring your hands, post on a blog, and blame the white man?

Of course libs have no issue with ''raw partisan'' statements after a mass shooting happens in this country.Libs don't wait for the dead to be identified or the bodies to turn cold before they start blaming the NRA,FOX NEWS, GLENN BECK, REPUBLICANS AND EVERYONE ON THE RIGHT. Libs lie and make death threats.

These very same libs get all butthurt when the right uses reality to expose they lies and bullshit they feed everyone.

We're in desperate need of help when people are seriously this stupid. It beggars belief.

Yeah, it wasn't Islamic jihad. That's just me being anti-Islam.

    It was the Scottish!

    - Reports of survivors of the attack claiming shooters were shouting "Allahu Akbar" and stuff about Syria
    - Syrian passports, and other ME passports found on dead terrorists
    - Terrorists being traced back, found to have come to France by way of Greece, after leaving Syria; e.g. members of ISIS!
    - Isis claimed responsibility for the attacks, they admitted to being responsible for the attacks
    - Attackers using the weapons that France has taken out of its population to sell to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, etc, creating a "gun-free zone" in their nation while being the world's third-largest arms dealers, behind only the USA and Russia
    - Dozens of threats before the attacks claiming that France will be dealt with by Isis because, despite over 60% of the French being against it, their dictatorial government launched air strikes in Syria anyway, so ISIS was openly plotting revenge
    - The same type of weapons used, the same pattern, the same MO as the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January
    - Most were suicide bombers whose bomb-making methods, materials and detonation MO match exactly the jihad playbook

Gee whiz. Looks more and more like those dastardly Scottish...

"Did you talk to any of them...No"

You mean the ones who didn't blow themselves up or were killed by police? Yeah, I think I'd have to communicate with the spirit world for that one. Somebody get Dionne Warwick on the line. Is she FNB enough for a source? Lemme know.

You don't know shit about any of this. At all. There's not a single piece of evidence I provided of which you were previously aware. You'll scream at me that I'm ignorant, meanwhile your ass struggles to construct a legible sentence. If Field doesn't spoon-feed it to you like the retarded child you are, you have no idea it exists. Go read a fucking news story, you dimwit.

"Not only are you a racist who hates Blacks, you hate religions, esp Islam."

I provided my evidence. Where's yours? Oh, that's right. You don't need evidence. And I'm racist if I expect you to provide it. I have to treat you equally...no-- wait, differently. No-- shit, as a special case.

If Field ever decides to start policing his blog, I have a feeling that you demonstrable, objective know-nothing chadrools will be the first to go. You make humanity look bad. Homo sapiens should not be capable of this level of stupidity.

Obama has betrayed the French people and Europe by destabilizing Syria and Libya and abandoning Iraq to ISIS, causing a flood of violent refugees to stream out of the region. He armed and funded ISIS in his quest to kill Assad, and now his creation has come home to roost. The blood of these victims and and millions of slaughtered Christians, Yazidis and Shiites is on his hands. This fool will burn the world down in pursuit of his hateful vision. He should be forced from office and imprisoned.

  10. This shit isn't Obama's fault. It's the fault of a culture of Caliphate. Leave those damn people be.

I agree that he armed them. Well, we all did. America is the world's #1 arms dealer. But guess who's #3? France!

If Obama allows all those refugees to take root in America, and shoves them in productive communities instead of places like Detroit, then we'll be in agreement and I'll bring my pitchfork.

  12. France and their arms dealings: #3 per volume, #1 per capita.

France's main export nations: United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

France's gun laws: So incredibly strict there are only 2 million registered weapons, with an estimated 17 million unregistered.

France's immigration policy: It's illegal to register or take into account in any way the race or religion of anyone; per fairness, everyone is treated equally and allowed in.

Those who turn away from fighting evil need to be aware, that the notion of evil as dark is actually the opposite of the truth. Evil is so bright, that people can't stare at it with their eyes. It's blinding; so people look at other things. Instead of fighting evil, they fight carbon emissions.

All this stuff in the Middle East reminds me of Vietnam. America goes all around the world getting into other countries' business as if it knows what is best for them. It doesn't. One would think after the Vietnam experience we would have learned our lesson. Nope, we haven't. We couldn't beat Vietnam and it doesn't look very good against ISIS.

We are fighting a far more vicious and 'determined' enemy than the Vietnamese. They don't think like we do, just like the Vietnamese did not think like us.

I think we are headed for the worst nightmare of our lives.

It really didn't have to be this way but it is now. Too bad we didn't learn our lessons from Nam.

So, predictably, the same kind of jingoistic idiots who previously brought us Freedom Fries (and temporarily turned sauerkraut into "liberty cabbage") are now freaking out about Syrian refugees entering the country.

Take, for example, Republican Governor Robert Bentley of Alabama:

"After full consideration of this weekend’s attacks of terror on innocent citizens in Paris, I will oppose any attempt to relocate Syrian refugees to Alabama through the US refugee admissions program.

As your governor, I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm’s way."

In response, President Obama reassured the citizens of Bentley's state that he was not planning on relocating any Syrian refugees to the backward, redneck-infested, cultural and economic sinkhole known as Alabama, as it would be cruel to those refugees to send them to a place that was far worse than the war-torn hellscape they had just escaped from. Obama also noted that jihadis would never target Alabama for an attack anyway, because it contains nothing of value to destroy.

Okay, I made that last part up. Obama didn't say any of that. But that's what I'd have told Alabamians, were I president. When the best thing in your armpit state is the fucking Waffle House, perhaps you shouldn't be acting so high and mighty.

My thoughts are that this really has nothing to do with religion. The fact that they are Muslim and say 'Allah Is great', is the same thing as a Christian saying 'God is great'.

I don't think they are fighting about religion. I think they are fighting because they want America out of their lands and they want complete control of their resources/oil.

I think that's what their acts of terrorism are about. It's about land, power and money.

So as long as America and allies are in the Middle East, and there are persons willing to die for that cause, those acts of terrorism will unfortunately most probably continue.

Just my two cents. I'm not a political savant or anything remotely close, but from what I've seen so far.

The thing is we are not about to/cannot really, let go of such a necessary commodity as is petroleum.

So I guess this will continue, now France has begun bombing and eventually more hatred will create more people willing to die, and explode themselves striking terror and tragedy into hearts and lives.

When will it end? I think when another superpower decides to join the fray and take their side and then the big war will begin. Another world war I guess...

I've come to the conclusion that humans were meant to be at war constantly. If there's no war, it's too boring. Blood, the thirst for blood, proves that we are still as primitive as any sharks bloody feeding frenzy.

And don't be shaking your heads no,no,no,...and then go pay big bucks to watch two men pummel each other to a pulp in a ring!

"I don't think they are fighting about religion. I think they are fighting because they want America out of their lands and they want complete control of their resources/oil."

That's part of it, but not all of it.

While it's true that U.S., and the West generally, has contributed over many, many decades to the problems of the region, there's also plenty of homegrown dysfunction there that is a result of governmental corruption and greed, not colonialism or interventionism. To a certain extent, the U.S. is just a useful scapegoat for virtually everything that goes wrong there. When local governments are doing something that will have very unpopular effects, it's very convenient to distract their citizens by blaming it all on the Great Satan (as the U.S. is known in Iran, and in similar terms in Sunni-majority countries). This is at the root of much of the hate directed at us.

And the jihadis are also at war with modernity. They are simply extreme cultural conservatives. They hate uppity women, homosexuals, secular education -- the same crap that the Christian Right here in the U.S. are constantly pitching tantrums about -- and they are convinced that they can literally fight social progress with guns and bombs and swords. (It's a huge irony that evangelical Christians in the States hate Islamists so much, since they believe in damn near the same things. The only difference is that America is afflicted with Taliban of the Jesus-loving variety and our security services are powerful enough to stop our extreme religious nutjobs from tossing gays off the roofs of buildings.)

In any event, if the U.S. weren't propping up dictators to stabilize oil markets or unwisely gifting Israel loads of weapons, I'm sure that would be an improvement ... but even without our involvement, the Middle East would still be the most screwed-up, regressive, politically broken part of the planet, by far. They've got a long way to go to sort themselves out.

Not for nothing, but there has been a strain in Islamic culture since Muhammad that sought to institute Caliphates over everyone.

From the 1200s, hundreds of years before there even was an America, 'til WWI, empires like the Ottomans waged their holy war on infidels. Our earliest Americans, our forefathers, dealt with Islam and their holy war. They captured early Americans as slaves.

What's going on over there is nothing new. America isn't so much an antagonist as it is their justification in this era for continuing what they've been doing for close to a thousand years. America and modernity is their latest recruiting tool. That said, America shouldn't be poking and prodding. But even bereft of our existence, it is factually the case that some Islamic cultures have sought to convert, murder or breed away the infidels.

You'd have a case if this stuff just started happening after America started going over there. But who's to blame for the centuries of jihad before America even became a nation? This is just part of some Muslim cultures and has been forever: Wage Caliphate, convert the infidels.

And to the extent our right-wing crazies were as crazy as you're painting them, who the hell could stop them? Who's able to stop a maniac with a machine gun in a movie theater or school? If these people truly were that crazy, they'd be doing crazy shit. They're regressive. They're bigots. They're loons stuck on mysticism. But they aren't that. They objective aren't that. To call this a false equivalency is insulting to the term false equivalency.

  32. As soon as the scope of the carnage in Paris became clear Ann Coulter tweeted his opinion that the IS murderers had just elected Donald Trump. Donald Trump of course elaborated on his message that if that disaster were to occur he would order the carpet bombing of IS territory and its captive people and an invasion to steal Iraq & Syria's oilfields. These extremists understand each other & tacitly cooperate to provide each other with the justifications for each other's programs, the propoganda to panic each other's credulous rubes into signing onto their psychopathy.

  34. Young people who don't know shit about Islam yet are indoctrinated to fight. Hmm. Breaking news at 11.

    And, surprise-surprise, it's America's fault!

America needs to leave those fucking people alone and should have been leaving them alone for decades. Wars fail. Occupations fail. Puppet regimes fail. Arming "rebels" and training "security" fails. Charity and outreach fail. Let those people be free to create the culture they want. They try to come to your country to blow shit up? Blast those fuckers into 72 pieces, one for each virgin. But get the fuck out of their lands. And inasmuch as they want that regressive, acid-in-a-woman's-face culture, you might could tase them for even visiting. Want quarantine? Want America out of the east? Stay your punk asses out the west too. Deal? I can live with it.

But on the real tip: Whose fault was it for the 600 years of holy wars preceding America's existence, I wonder? Who did those young, poor innocent boys, just family people who are enraged at American injustice, blame it on then? The Pope? Greek Orthodoxy?

Do we find it more important to speak to the pawns that the mujahideen elders use? If so, why? If they can't indoctrinate them because it's all America's fault, it will all suddenly fall apart? I'm willing to take seriously the piece. Seems genuine, well written if not a little too intent on transforming ISIS fighters into victims. Seems a presupposition that used a bit of confirmation bias, but I'm willing to buy it. I can live with that.

But why are the leaders and organizers fighting?

They seem pretty fucking clear in their many messages. We're to say they're lying but barely literate young boys have it all figured out?

We know why many American soldiers sign up to fight too. They're mad as hell at X and Y, patriotic, want college paid for, etc. But do we blame those soldiers or our fuckwit governments for the wars? I think we learned our lesson after Vietnam on that front. I wouldn't be so quick to name these pawns queens.

Do they really need to hate America for a leader of a terrorist cell or some imam to shame them into glorifying Allah's name by fighting the infidel? America and our dumbfuckery in foreign policy is just an easier recruiting tool. But they've found willing soldiers for the holy war for a thousand fucking years, most of which have been without America.

    Suspect.

  54. Many Say High Deductibles Make Their Health Law Insurance All but Useless

Obama administration officials, urging people to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, have trumpeted the low premiums available on the law’s new marketplaces.

But for many consumers, the sticker shock is coming not on the front end, when they purchase the plans, but on the back end when they get sick: sky-high deductibles that are leaving some newly insured feeling nearly as vulnerable as they were before they had coverage.
    ...
In many states, more than half the plans offered for sale through HealthCare.gov, the federal online marketplace, have a deductible of $3,000 or more, a New York Times review has found.

Cheap Obamnacare insurance isn't worth much if poor people can't afford a $3000 deductible.

Reality is much much different than the typical family saving $2500 Obama repeatedly lied about.

"Yisheng, I have been thinking the same thing."

So, it is true. I suspected:

Black people: "Don't be surprised if we're articulate. That's racist."
Black people: "Don't be articulate. We don't like it."

    Make up your minds.

"He still doesn't get it that this is a blog, a Field Negro blog."

It's THE "Field Negro's" blog, not A field negro blog, you fucking dolt! I have something in common with every black person here. We each have the exact same experience as being a field negro, forced under threat of pain and/or death to perform slave labor as a captive! That is to say, none of us have ever been slaves, and having genetics that make you part of the Negroid race in no way--beyond your religious interpretation--means you know more about it, feel it more, or understand it more than any member of the Caucasoid race.

"It wasn't designed to meet his specs..."

Criticizing stupid people for being stupid people is just that. If I had a dollar for every time I've said I'm not criticizing black people but an INDIVIDUAL, and for you fucking idiots to say, "NUH UH! If yours cretaziz a black person den u cretaziz ALL black people," I'd be able to retire.

So, let's sum it up. Josh is wrong because:

    - This is a blog for slaves working in the field
    - One black person is all black people
    - You cannot criticize a black person unless you're criticizing them for being black
    - But you people aren't overly emotional crybabies; everyone else is just racist
    - It means I'm stupid if I type too many words for you to read
    - Telling you that you're wrong means I want this to be my blog

Glad we got that straightened out...
