Conspiracy theories and a dead Justice.

Wait a minute now, these conspiracy theories floating around that someone murdered Justice Scalia's is getting out of hand.

And of course wingnuts are implying that President Obama and his secret assassin army had a hand in the jurist's untimely demise. To them, he had this nefarious plot in place all along to totally transform America. All it took was a quick pillow to the head. "Check that pillow for Obama's prints". Don't laugh, someone actually wrote that.

Check out this headline from Drudge:

"BREAKING: Justice Scalia Found Dead WITH PILLOW OVER HIS HEAD at Ranch Owned by Obama Award Winner

…Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara, a Democrat, acknowledged that she pronounced Scalia dead by phone, without seeing his body."

See how they did that? They made a connection to Obama by saying that Scalia died in the home of an  "Obama Award Winner"

I mean even the leading republican candidate for president has jumped into the debate.

"Donald, I need to come back to the topic we’ve all been screaming about here, which is Scalia, was he murdered,” Savage said. “I know it’s pretty brutal to say that, and I’m not wanting to drag you into this, but this is going to be bigger and bigger and bigger.”

“I went on the air and said we need the equivalent of a Warren Commission, we need an immediate autopsy before the body is disposed of. What do you think of that?” Savage asked.....

“Well I just heard today… you know I just landed and I’m hearing it’s a big topic.”

“But they say they found a pillow on his face, which is a pretty unusual place to find a pillow,” Trump said. “I can’t tell you– I can’t give you an answer.” [Source]

You can't?! How about he died of a heart attack because of his terrible eating habits and the poor physical shape that he was in? It's not like we are talking about 40 year old man here. The man was pushing 80 for crying out loud!

Here is a news flash: Old conservatives can die of natural causes like everyone else.

I think it's the Dick Cheney effect, though. The man has had all kinds of heart issues and his ticker just keeps going. These wingnuts believe that all of their leaders should be like Dick Cheney.

But back to the Drudge Headline for a minute:

"That incredible reach turns downright scummy when you consider which “Obama Award” Poindexter won. Contrary to apparent conservative belief, there actually is no “Obama Awards” show, where the New Black Panthers win “Best Ensemble” and the Best Picture award always goes to “The Whitey Tape.”

No, John Poindexter was presented a very different sort of award on October 20, 2009 at The White House:

President Obama was presenting the Presidential Unit Citation to Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry for heroism during the Vietnam War, an award that dates back to its establishment by executive order in 1942. That makes it an “Obama Award” only if Obama has a really tricked-out DeLorean.

Justice Scalia’s death has only ever been attributed to natural causes, and Poindexter’s account doesn’t change that. It Doesn’t even say the pillow was covering Scalia’s face, although having had a heart attack, I can understand why a person might do that to mitigate the pain.

The sad part is that there’s zero chance people like GP‘s Jim Hoft actually think that President Obama or anyone else had anything to do with Scalia’s death, but they’re happy to smear him and a Vietnam war hero in order to get some cheap, unhinged traffic. Shame on them"

Wrong Tommy. They absolutely believe it. You give these people way too much credit.

It's called Obama Derangement Syndrome, and it can have that kind of effect on the brain.

This is a little off post, but it's been bugging me for some time. I just finished watching a debate between Cruz's campaign spokeswoman and Trump's spokeswoman. Now Cruz's spokeswoman is clearly White but Trump's looks like she could be a sister. In fact, I'm almost certain.

Can some folks tell me what they think?

Hey, it's not just the Benghazi and email nonsense. There's the whole back catalog of garbage the wingnuts made up about the Clintons during the '90s. The conspiracy theories are so numerous, they must have them organized in some sort of a spreadsheet to keep them all straight. Lying so prolifically can become quite confusing.

Over at "Infowars," the paranoia business is always good for Alex Jones and his crew. He's got a knack for inventing preposterous material (did you know that Michelle Obama is really a man, and Barack can control the weather?) and the supply of conservative morons ready to devour his material is apparently limitless.

Even if such nonsense was circulating in media other news forums, it's just as bone-headed. And you are the last person, for which it could ever be said to be living under a rock throughout the Obama presidency. The list of invectives and conspiracy tales hurled at the Obama Family don't even come close to the ultra-nasty level of discourse endured by Bush and past presidents.

These days, anything is possible. I mean, I didn't think Hillary would have used her own email account to pass classified information but she did. Anybody in America would know better but she 'apparently' did not know. However, Obama knew. So, anything that seems almost unbelievable is possible.

However, Obama is very much against wars and the killing of people. So, I doubt he would even entertain the thought. But Republicans who have crawled out of a sewer might.

In a statement Tuesday, the owner of the ranch clarified to CNN what he meant when he told the San Antonio Express the judge was found with a "pillow over his head."

"I think enough disclosures were made and what I said precisely was accurate. He had a pillow over his head, not over his face as some have been saying," John Poindexter, owner of the Cibolo Creek Ranch, where Scalia was found, told CNN over the phone. "The pillow was against the headboard and over his head when he was discovered. He looked like someone who had had a restful night's sleep. There was no evidence of anything else."

"Dodging social responsibility" is a polite way to put it.

I'd say its just the politics of false equivalence, the election tactic of scoundrels. The Republicans have become such an awful-no-good-very-bad party, they can't run on what they have to offer, because that's nothing -- or worse than nothing.

So if they can't make themselves look good, they have to focus all their efforts on making the opposition somehow look worse, through constant character defamation.

The biannual Republican election pitch is: "Sure, we're garbage. But the Democrats are garbage with shit frosting. Buy the shit-free garbage."

After all, when Usain Bolt is racing his nephews for fun, and then races in the Olympics for gold, we can't know which is his best effort, according to your logic. When Ken Griffey, Jr. is in batting practice and then in the Home Run Derby, we cannot possibly deduce which is his best effort. Right? When the Broncos play the Seahawks in the preseason, and then the Panthers in the Super Bowl, we cannot tell which is their best effort. According to you, we can't know on which performance they should be judged.

Motivation accounts for a lot. Some people may need to be motivated to try harder on a test than others. It's not that people suddenly become more intelligent; it's that some people put in the effort where before they simply guessed randomly and just wanted the test to be over. "

Incredibly despite all your bluff and bluster you have not yet managed to answer a single one of my questions.

Let me reframe my questions to you in simpler terms that you might finally understand...

    OK?

Stop me if I'm going to fast for you Joshy, or if I'm using big complicated words.

    1. An I.Q. test (according to you) is an objective measure of someone's intelligence.

    2. Suppose you are given an I.Q. test paper to mark.

    3. The papers are marked randomly and anonymously, so here are all the things you don't know...

    i) If the respondent was paid for the test or not. (+/- 10 points)

ii) If the colour of the invigilator was different from the respondent's (+/-15 points)

iii) If the respondent was from below or above the Mason-Dixon line (+/-15 points)*

iV) If the respondent had been practicing doing I.Q. tests or not (+/- 20 points)

    V) If the respondent is a child has it received Relational Frame Training Intervention (+/- 1 S.D.)**

Anything is possible. Death, like birth presents itself in may ways. A heart arrest in it's initial stages can cause the person to jump out of bed and run for the door in a frantic effort to get help or try and get air into the lungs, often undressed and struggling to get their clothes on. As a paramedic I have found them midway out the door, pants still down at the ankles, midway out the walkway pants up but zipper and belt still undone, sitting on the toilet, in a chair. It can strike silently in the middle of sleep, with the partner only hearing a slight cough or gurgle, nothing big,and at sunrise the person is found by the partner stiff and cold. Or can cause the body, unable to get up,to twitch or contort with the pain and effort to breath, and the pillows will move up behind the head area. As a paramedic I have found people in these and many more ways, so anything is possible. Death like birth is usually not neat and orderly.

If you cannot figure out on which time one should judge Usain Bolt's running, or Jr's batting, I literally cannot help. There is nothing I can do to jar the logical portion of your brain, however underdeveloped, and thus there's nothing more I can say.

If X takes two tests, one ordered by a teacher in the middle of a boring-ass class, and one that pays $20 for completion, and X scores better on test 2, yet you still cannot figure out why, there's no discussion to have.

And how many ways can you be told that being black means receiving FREE points on shit? Maybe it's not like that in the UK, but here in the USA being black means you're graded by lower standards at every single level of education. A black student can literally be socially promoted through every grade in K-12, and then used to account for "diversity" at a university, while the student may not know a lick of math or even be able to speak proper English. See CEDA as proof.

  27. "You appear to have [signaled] your surrender on this topic."

You appear to be one of those cunts who assume that there's only one answer--your answer--to a question, and anything that doesn't meet that presupposition is thus called a non-answer. But it's pretty fucking simple: You're "asking"--I guess I'm willing to concede that much--how an IQ test can be objective in its results if a person does better with motivation. And I'm telling you that you appear to be too stupid to realize that motivation is what brings out the best in a some people. The people who do better with monetary incentive in an IQ test aren't getting more intelligent because they're being paid, nor are they less intelligent when they're not paid. It's that they're putting more into the test when they feel they have the motivation to do so.

Any test, IQ or otherwise, is only as good as the answers given and the effort put in. But when someone does provide their maximum effort and actually tries to do well, then their IQ is measured pretty damn reliably by the test in question. You're presenting the case that it wouldn't be an objective standard if people have different results based on the effort they put in. But you're also the same schmuck that says man must cause the greenhouse effect, lest it isn't real. So grains of salt.

Wat I'm asking is how can you judge someone's intelligence from a simple I.Q. test result when we know that there are many, many factors that can affect the results?

Motivation is indeed one of those factors.

Just a reminder today that Donald Trump's recent hatemongering is not new. He is very much an old hand at this.

I'm referring to the fiasco of the Central Park Jogger case, in which five black youths were wrongfully convicted of a brutal rape and attempted murder. At the time, the youths were part of a group committing unprovoked assaults on people, so I'm not painting them as choirboys. But the rape and attempted murder of which they were accused was committed by someone else, at the other end of the park, and they were convicted based on coerced confessions.

This travesty of justice occurred during a period of high crime in NYC, nasty racial tensions, and a pattern of misconduct by the cops. Trump was one of the main bad actors, demanding these guys heads on a platter, never mind the evidence.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "Wat I'm asking is how can you judge someone's intelligence from a simple I.Q. test result"

You have moved the goal posts from a different stadium straight to a different sport. I started out talking about a person's IQ. You then got to talking about IQ tests. If you want to submit that IQ testing can be flawed, depending on the test, and the person taking it, and the person's proclivity for testing, I'd be in agreement. But what I was talking about was a person's IQ -- you then, on your own, just to be contrary to my comment, started shifting the goals around and eventually landing on IQ TESTS rather than a person's intelligence quotient.

This gets into right-wing paranoid territory, in the event you're going to argue that all tests are somehow inherently flawed or biased.

Apart from that, it's hard to focus here as I'm looking at Field's latest FNB, which is praising slave reenactment. lol Yeah, progress. It's a word that means blacks continue to pretend to be slaves, and whites must agree to play the slave owners. But I digress...

    Quote from above article:

"Recall that none of them -- including the police -- could have known whether the jogger would emerge from her coma and be able to identify her attackers. (She emerged, but blocked all memory of the attack.) All five confessed to assisting the attack on the jogger, but none to raping her themselves. That's enough for a rape conviction.

In Antron McCray's 34-minute videotaped statement, for example, he said:

"Everybody started hitting her and stuff. She was on the ground, everybody stompin' and everything. ... I grabbed one arm, some other kid grabbed one arm and we grabbed her legs and stuff. Then we all took turns getting on her, getting on top of her. ... I just like, my penis wasn't in her. I didn't do nothing to her ... I was just doing it so everybody ... Everybody would just like, would know I did it."

There was other incriminating evidence, all of which was ignored by the media and PBS documentarians.

Melody Jackson, whose brother was friends with defendant Kharey Wise, testified -- reluctantly -- that she talked to Wise by phone when he was at Rikers Island and that he told her that he didn't rape the jogger, he "only held her legs down while Kevin (Richardson) f--ked her." She originally volunteered this information to the police thinking it would be helpful to Wise."
