Yep, racist affirmative action laws that put incompetent minorities in positions of medical authority kill thousands of Americans every year, and it's only getting worse.
That's why I always go to white doctors - you know they had to earn their degree.
She was so worried about the person behind her, she didn't see what was in front. She wasn't racist her attitude made no negative difference in his life. Her attitude based on race could have gotten her killed. But he saved her. Let us define "racist", follow closely.
Racist: an attitude based on race that has the power to negatively affects another person's life. So if you judge by race that is Pre-judice, if you don't like other races you are biased. You have to have power, and use that power to negatively affect anothers life.
Typical Hymiewood-style propaganda, with a (totally predictable) trick ending. "Negroes are so kind and helpful - how DARE you think otherwise?"
I had some niggers cross the street to follow me in the French Quarter once; they weren't there to help me in traffic, I'll tell you that. As a result, I'm always on guard now around groids. As any sane person of any race should be.
The good news here in California is that Trump will take no more than about 75 delegates. The bad news is that Cruz will take at least 80. If he runs New York and wins the rest of the mid Atlantic in the high 40s, as seems likely, Trump will just barely take the nomination on the first round.
Another filthy thug piece of gangbanger garbage was euthanized by the police a in Chicongo, and now the animal's family is "demanding Justice". He pointed a gun at police, yes, but in New America, blacks get special priveleges - they can rob, rape and kill with impunity. If anyone dares defend themselves, then it's rayciss.
I think that certain racists would rather get hit by the bus than allow themselves to acknowledge the humanity of blah people. A few posters right here.
I don't understand the film's title. The subject seems to be the racist assumption the viewer makes watching the guy go for her purse. Better title would be "Cell Phones Kill." If the black guy had been a racist, he wouldn't have pulled her back? Is that it?
But as to the question, of course racism kills. It kills on the biggest scale when it's the most hidden, most abstract, when it affects a whole country or a whole minority population. Black or brown children can die of hunger by the thousands, or of simple, easily prevented diseases because of racist economic policies or a government (not to name names) that wastes hundreds of billions on military quagmires while ignoring the well-being of its own citizens. Or creating toxic waste dumps next to where they live, or poisoning their water, or... Study the history of Haiti for one example. How many died of want when white nations refused to trade with them, refused to buy their sugar, blockaded them? And why? because they were a free black country and scared the bejeezus out of slaveholding white governments. Nobody recorded the numbers who died of starvation and disease then. Racism is most deadly when it's indirect; then it's slow death – but on a mega scale. I'm sure there are hundreds of better and more recent examples than Haiti--the IMF and vulture capitalists are cruelest with African and Southeast Asian nations--but it's a horribly depressing subject and I haven't even had my second cup of coffee.
PilotX said... I think that certain racists would rather get hit by the bus than allow themselves to acknowledge the humanity of blah people. ---
Of course blacks are human, and as with all people, most are decent. Negative comments on this video are a reaction against the constant propaganda that society rams down our throats that tells us whites are uniquely evil and everyone else are saints. We know that white on black crime is virtually non-existent, while thousands of whites are murdered by blacks every year, we know that Islam is incompatible with our culture and that subsidizing their colonization will lead to war in our streets, but the government and media does everything it can to hide these facts. Instead we are told that every black criminal and every muslim terrorist are our fault.
Modern culture is built on lies and manipulation and this situation cannot last.
Racism kills daily. We were all taught by the same 'teacher'. Many years ago something similar happened to my son (15 years old) who was deeply hurt by the reaction of fear as he was only trying to help. He didn't heed my warning beforehand, but afterwards he listened intently as I explained how much he was hated and feared by 'them'.
As a nurse who worked in a community health care clinic for years, in my experience, black and brown people aren't the only poor people who suffer. Patients with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and obesity suffer greatly from ignorance of the long term effects of their medical conditions, what lifestyle steps they must take to improve their health, and how to correctly use equipment and devices to monitor their conditions when at home.
The single biggest obstacle to improved health was a lack of patient education, in my opinion. I wish doctors and nurses had more time with patients to better educate them.
As to the video, there is no doubt a young black man following that closely behind me would unnerve me. I would move to the other side of the street. Would a black woman be scared, too, if a young black man was that close behind her?
"I don't understand the film's title. The subject seems to be the racist assumption the viewer makes watching the guy go for her purse. Better title would be 'Cell Phones Kill.' If the black guy had been a racist, he wouldn't have pulled her back? Is that it?"
No, the title of the video is implying that racism could've literally gotten her killed. She almost gets hit by a bus because she is paying attention to her phone and not what's in front of her. But she is paying attention to her phone because she is using it to call 911 on the "dangerous" black guy behind her.
The single biggest obstacle to improved health was a lack of patient education, in my opinion. >>>>>>> No offense but you must be White if that's your conclusion from working in community health, a setting I've both worked and volunteered in since the 80's.
Since I'm back in the HIV/AIDS clinical world, let's talk about PrEP, the prophylactic treatment for people at increased risk of HIV/AIDS.
What demographic would you guess has FAR more access to PrEP than ANY other one? Here's a guess, they ain't Black or Brown.
Yeshing, at risk population for HIV/AIDS was not treated at our clinic. We were a community health clinic.
Other than treating normal acute illnesses, our primarily working poor patients were mostly comprised of patients with three chronic conditions: hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
"That's kinda bizarre as an example of racism killing, but as a symbolic one, O.K."
Yeah, definitely a "symbolic" representation of racism. If racism usually backfired that spectacularly in real life, it would be relatively easy to eliminate it. Unfortunately, that's not how racism works or how people perceive it to work.
For example, a woman is alone in an elevator and a black man approaches, wanting to get on. She perceives black men as being more likely to be dangerous. Her decision-making goes like this: If she closes the door on the guy and he's not dangerous, he's going to be angry for a couple hours; if she lets him ride with her and he is dangerous, she gets raped and beaten to death. The costs of being "too racist" are smaller and borne by someone else, while the costs of being "not racist enough" are huge and borne by her. She closes the door on him.
Or look at police brutality. Police brutality doesn't just boil down to racism, and we shouldn't oversimplify it that way. But surely some of it is caused by racist attitudes of individual cops, and similar reasoning applies. If a cop is wrong in assessing he's in danger and shoots, he kills an innocent person and maybe goes to jail; if the cop is right in his assessment but doesn't shoot, he winds up dead. Cops even have a standard expression for this: "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6" (better to be judged by 12 jurors than carried by 6 pallbearers).
Usually, people are racist because they are convinced it is safer, or at least in their self-interest, to be racist.
The Ministry of Truth said... "Usually, people are racist because they are convinced it is safer, or at least in their self-interest, to be racist."
Truth be told, "racism" as portrayed in this video probably saves more lives than it takes. Acting to preserve one's personal safety merely by avoidance of risky situations ought not to be considered racist.
Racism used to mean hating people for their race. In order to be a real racist, you had to express antipathy toward someone and/or discriminate against them when it came to work, school or housing. Racists told mean-spirited jokes and implied that certain negative characteristics could be ascribed merely on the basis of race. Racists caused actual, intentional harm to the targets of their racism.
Today, racism is merely being white. You can like black people and treat them with respect, but if you are white and you aren't constantly cringing for forgiveness, you're a racist.
I watched HBO show called Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill (2016) last night. Unbelievable performance. Awesome. Tragic. Beautiful. Tearful. Amazing.
If you haven't seen Audra McDonald's performance as Billie Holiday, please do.
This genius, black, woman singer and songwriter suffered racism all her life and wrote the most incredibly poetic and impactful lyrics I've ever heard. Billie Holiday was one of a kind.
"Racism used to mean hating people for their race. In order to be a real racist, you had to express antipathy toward someone and/or discriminate against them when it came to work, school or housing."
And calling the cops on someone who has done nothing other than a) be black, and b) walk down the street, does not constitute discrimination to you?
Please. You can rationalize as much as you like, but this is racism.
Agree with Anonymous 10:52 AM as to the necessity for patient education and self monitoring of their conditions. Not enough of this is done. I think over half of ER visits wouldn't be necessary with this education, and the life span and well being as well would increase.
The video? Well, what can I say? I mean...I don't evenunnerstan what kind of BS video this is fer crise sake!!!
Of course if you're a woman all alone on a half empty street you're going to have some trepidation if a man of ANY color, white, brown, black, yellow, red is following you! At least I would anyway!
True I'm a scaredy cat, but this video left out a lot of visual information, and I don't really think it can be used in the way that they are obviously meaning for it to be.
PR, most people end up in the ER not because they haven't been "educated" on their medical conditions but because they don't have health insurance. Or maybe they choose to pay their rent rather than buy their insulin and their sugar levels spiked. IMHO, when patients are minority, you MUST also consider that if/when they did see their clinicians, they received disparate care ie racists medical care.
I know people want to believe that those in the healthcare field care for they're patients equally without regard to race, but that is extremely naive thinking. Racism permeates EVERY other aspect of american life, why do people think the healthcare is different when study after study says that's it's NOT?
Access to medical care is also a big issue, you can't receive regular medical care if there are no clinicians in your neighbor. Or you can't afford the ones that are there.
So based on my long term clinical experiences, patient education is a distant 3rd behind the previous 2 issues I raised, lack of (affordable) health insurance, and access to care.
Yeah, even post Obama care thanks to states that didn't expand medicare like most RED STATES!!

Oh of course that's so! No doubt about it! Poverty, location, of course it all inputs.
It's not a even question of healthcare professionals treating their patients equally. Even if they wanted to, if the money (insurance or otherwise) is not available they can't. In the American healthcare system treatments, tests equipment, medicines, cost money. No tickee no laundry! So disparity is the standard.
This is why one sees people with bleeding, soccer ball size malignant tumors in the ER here, where the only option at that point is palliative end of life care. Why? Because regular visits to doctors for an early diagnosis were not within reach $$$.
Poverty sucks! and unfortunately the cards have been so stacked against the brown and black people that they we are the ones most affected by it! So yes, while the white middle class drunk may be able to have that liver transplant, the brown/black drunk will wait, and wait, and wait, and wait...
