A very large weapon of "mass distraction."

Image result for MOAB bomb images I am on the road tonight, field hands.

But this Guardian story as reported in The Slatest got me to thinking.

"Buried in the last paragraph of a Guardian story about British intelligence alerting the U.S. to contact between Trump advisers and Russian officials is this sort-of bombshell

One source suggested the official [American] investigation was making progress. “They now have specific concrete and corroborative evidence of collusion,” the source said. “This is between people in the Trump campaign and agents of [Russian] influence relating to the use of hacked material.”
That's a bombshell because evidence that Trump advisers were involved in any way with the release of hacked Hillary Clinton-related emails would be an impeachment-level smoking gun in a scandal that currently involves a lot of reports about sketchy relationships but no proof of clearly illegal conduct. It's only sort of a bombshell because, well, who is this one random source and why does he/she seem to be the only person anywhere who knows this potentially world-shaking information?
Here's a McClatchy article about what former national intelligence director James Clapper said he knew about collusion when he left office in January:
Clapper ... said he knew of no evidence that members of Trump’s campaign had colluded with Russia during the election campaign and that no suggestion that they had was made in a January report on the subject.
“We did not include anything in our report … that had any reflection of collusion between members of the Trump campaign and the Russians,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “There was no evidence of that included in our report. We had no evidence of such collusion.”

And here's Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, answering CNN anchor Jake Tapper's April 2 question about whether evidence of collusion exists:
I don’t think we can say anything definitively at this point. We are still at the very early stages of the investigation.

(Update, 1:40 p.m.: I'm reminded that Schiff also said on March 22 that he'd seen "more than circumstantial evidence" of collusion—but then stopped short of saying that it was "direct" evidence.)
So ... where did the Guardian's source get this information? I guess we'll find out either soon, in a few months, or never!" [Source]

Is it any wonder that trump is dropping weapons of mass distraction in Afghanistan to distract from the more serious issues facing his administration.

Americans, of course, won't care. The fact that trump is dropping big bombs on evil doers (with nothing to show) will hold our attention for awhile

Seems like it could be mere coincidence that we dropped a MOAB in Afghanistan. We've got 'em, so it was inevitable we'd use 'em eventually.

But with this ultra-shady president, literally everything at least feels like it could be part of a larger conspiracy. So often, he is clearly pulling some kind of childish, attention-grabbing stunt to draw media focus away from his latest failure or whatever dumb/evil policy he's announcing this week.

I really do think Trump views being president as equivalent to being a reality TV villain. Someone needs to write him out a formal job description so he can see they are not really the same thing.

  6. You're inching closer to reality, Field.

Eventually even die-hards like you will realize that blaming Russia for Hillary's loss is a desperate fantasy. You will then move on to being depressed for a while, but as time goes by, you begin to see that the world is not ending, and ideed, improving.

Maybe you'll even want to pitch in to Make America Great Again.

    We're waiting for you.

  7. But even the distraction reminds us of the scandal: for he warned his Russian handlers about the raid, and therefore the Syrians too. It was we Americans who found out last.

The raid was phony, and I approve. Two cheers for 'deconfliction'! It's better than the real thing. But the trouble with phony war is that it can become the real thing.

Funny how this draft dodger can thump his chest murdering people with no chance to be a combatant. Continue to kill third world people of color. Since ww2 America has not fired any weapons on caucasians. Keep with the hoorays for these murders. Karma will have a payback. Being old and healthy this draft dodger might get his soon. He may clown his way playing president but life ends for us all. I hate when they- these apologist- talk about saving American lives while killing others. The Americans can just leave these countries that can't cause no harm. How can some guys in a cave thousands miles away cause you harm? My boy got to keep hitting and run.

"Trump and the gang (his administration) are all compromised agents of Russia."

Whereas Hitlery was the compromised agent of anyone who won the bidding war.

You are okay with the release of unlawfully-intercepted and retained but very innocent telephone calls of Trump staff, while going to your fainting couches over the dump of highly incriminating e-mails of Hitlery and her campaign staffers like Pedosta.

You aren't loyal opposition.  You're enemy, and you must and will be eliminated.  Get out of the USA before the hot war starts.

  11. It's not really that difficult.

Concentrate on impeaching Mike Pence. Is the guy really bullet-proof? I mean for fuck's sake, they impeached the choirboy himself, William Jefferson Clinton?!?

Time it so that Pence's conviction happens around Christmas in either 2018 or 2020 and we can have Nancy Pelosi for president the moment we get rid of Trump.

  12. The story is that the place they bombed is supposedly the same area, if not the same exact place where Saint Ronnie's Mujahideen used to hide out in preparation for attacks on the Soviets, where bin Laden hid out while the Taliban were protecting him, where drug smugglers and insurgents go to cross the porous border with Pakistan's lawless tribal areas without having to travel the heavily watched road over Khyber Pass.
They're supposedly worried that ISIS fighters are taking advantage of those same features that helped al-Qaeda and gaining access to the same Pakistani religious schools that produced most of the suicide bombers used by the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban.
Reporters familiar with the area have said that it is very difficult to effectively bomb, and that we have been trying since 2001 with little or no effect.
That's the story they're selling, anyway, and at least this time they bothered to come up with a story to support a big, flashy, military operation that just happened to coincide with the worst news yet for them concerning the Russian collusion investigation.

New CIA director sez Wikileaks and Assange are working with Russia.

Bald guy still thinks Russia had no bearing on Drumpf's election. Maybe he can write a book about it.

Pink moon coming Sunday night. Wingnuts go full Ted Bundy on LGBT Americans and claim Obama made them do it. Drumpf agrees and pardons Nixon.

  20. The bomb Trump just dropped on Afghanistan cost $314 million.

Now he can blame the bomb drop on Ivanka so he doesn't have to take responsibility for doing a bad thing. He hasn't taken credit for this-he sez military command gets to make the decisions further insulating himself from responsibility.

  24. Perjurer AG Sessions apparently owns stock that has ties to for profit prisons and makes money on every person detained. No wonder he wants every person of color detained. He'll make money if they are only staying for a day or a lifetime.

Texas gets the first new detention center. 1000 bed facility due to open next year. Being a crook and greedy is in vogue for wingnuts. The actual crooks are running the country.

Good thing we have allies that can listen in to conversations of Drumpf's campaign colluding with Russians to get Drumpf elected. American spooks aren't supposed to do that. Since they aren't supposed to spy on Americans, our agencies took their own sweet time to examine the contents of stuff foreign nations provided. Otherwise Drumpf would have been in jail in 2015 where he belongs instead of ripping off the taxpayers while he golfs his fat ass away.

How much did Obama spend on killing Qadaffi? Couple of billion at least.

What did we get for our money? Libya turned into an anarchic terrorist state run by ISIS. A dead ambassador. Millions of refugees pouring through Libya across the Mediterranean. Daily terror attacks in europe.

And the cost goes on forever. The elimination of a dictator who had agreed to give up his WMD and start cooperating with the West was a lesson not lost on Iran and North Korea, who know that it's their nukes that keep them alive.

The Obama/Clinton foreign policy years were a complete disaster for America and the entire civilized world.

I don't support Trump's action in Syria. But it is the height of hypocrisy for someone who supported the previous administration's policies to criticize the much more limited and much more defensible step's takn so far by Trump.

Obama knows you can't run around shooting off nukes. Drumpfuck has no idea why you can't do that.

Obama inherited as Middle Eastern cluster fuck of heroic proportions and an economy on the brink of depression and made America great again even having to drag the entire fucking wingnut majorities in both houses of congress into the 21st century.

    ---

He hardly spoke with the generals and admirals and his Intel agencies. He spent more time with George Soros, Bob Creamer, and Andy Stern than any of his national security experts. As far as Obama's claims go, there's a record out there:

“I think I could probably do every job on the campaign better than the people I’ll hire to do it,” he said. “It’s hard to give up control when that’s all I’ve known.”

“I think I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” Obama told him. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.”

And which side of the river are they planning on building it on? The side that gives us no access to the river, or in Mexico? Good luck negotiating that one, Mr. Art of the Deal, Mexico hates your guts.
Are you planning on invading and just taking the land? And how do you plan to get access to it for the construction equipment? The estimates I've seen call the access infrastructure a major fraction of the total cost of the walldoggle.
Oh that's right, he isn't planning any of this, it's just a thing he likes to yell at rallies when they aren't Nuremberg-y enough, to put the sizzle back in the crowd.
This is one reason why it's not a good idea to elect a very stupid person to a position of great power and responsibility; they will say very stupid things because they're very stupid, then they'll feel like they have to do them anyway to keep from embarrassing themselves because they're too stupid to understand that that ship sailed a long time ago.
