Trump did absolutely nothing, beyond blocking flights from China into the US, until end of March. He was convinced it would all just go away. When it didn't, we were all screwed.
Everyone else was telling him he was overrreacting. The WHO was telling him into February that there was no human to human transmission concerns. If the Dems had their way, it would have been much worse in the US.
We don't have enough tests, because Trump did nothing.
We didn't have any tests for a virus which didn't exist a month earlier, but the US has actually tested more than any other country.
We don't have enough PPE, because Trump did nothing.
We didn't have enough PPE because previous administrations had long ago offshored all production of critical medical supplies.
We don't have enough ventilators, because Trump did nothing.
We actually have way more ventilators than we need.
We started our lockdowns way too late, because Trump did nothing.
Lockdown decisions have been mostly left to the states, and have been enacted in an effective way. Some local jurisdictions like New York and New Orleans made the wrong call, but for most of the country the decisions were made were either appropriate or excessively conservative.

Mike, it has been leaked that back in late November, US Intel informed Trump and his crew that there was a potential pandemic brewing in China. The United States has pretty good spying capabilities so I am inclined to believe them. Apparently Trump was not interested and did nothing with the information the intelligence community gave him.

But this is all coming from anonymous sources. I wouldn’t put much stock in either of those allegations, absent some real evidence to support them, or at least the sources going on the record to defend them. Pentagon officials say the allegations are untrue and there was no DOD report on an epidemic in China in November.

But the known facts about Trump’s lack of response to the pandemic are already damning. This has already been an abysmal failure of leadership. If it turned out he’d had an additional month or two to fart around and do nothing to prepare the country for the virus, that would just add insult to injury.

So the SEIU in California, seeing that its members were short on the PPE that they need to stay alive, tried to source it themselves.

But it turned out that the 39 million masks were just a scam being run by a broker in Australia and a supplier in Kuwait and didn't actually exist.
There is now a federal criminal investigation of it in Pittsburgh, because the FBI stumbled onto the scam while investigating the attempted transaction in order to seize the masks if they were actually sold to SEIU.
That's Fergus' plan to obtain PPE and other medical supplies to fight the pandemic: steal them from the states or anyone with enough on the ball to actually get them.

Your town has an overall homicide rate of 17.52/100,000/year in 2015. The black homicide rate accounts for most of that, so it has to be in excess of 40.
