The perfect team.

 *
So the NFL draft is behind us.

As an Eagles fan I am not a happy camper. I am still trying t figure out what our GM was doing with the picks for my birds. Still, it could have been worse, we could have been like the Cheatriots and selected an alleged white supremacist (kicker of all things) to our squad.

"After getting selected by the New England Patriots on Saturday (April 25), their new kicker Justin Rohrwasser said he would cover a controversial tattoo on his left arm – a logo of a right-wing organization.

Rohrwasser said he got the tat back when he was a teenager, USA Today reported.

"Obviously, it evolved into something that I do not want to represent and when I look back at it, I should have done way more research before I put any mark or symbol on my body," Rohrwasser stated in a conference call with reporters. "It is not something I ever want to represent, so it will be covered.”

Rohrwasser’s  tattoo is described as showing the Roman numeral III surrounded by stars, which is a symbol of the Three Percenters."  [*The "Three Percenters". Hmm, weren't they the ones who worked security for the Nazis in Charlottesville?*]

Here is the thing, the Cheatriots are free to draft who they want, and this young man is free to sport whatever tattoo he wants to on his arm. This is America. But watch all the comments you will see from certain folks about his right to wear what he wants, his freedom of choice, blah blah blah.
These are the same clowns who vilified the aforementioned Colin Kaepernick for taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem. You see how this works?

The hypocrisy in this country when it comes to racism is so funny to watch and sad at the same time.

Now, of course, this alleged supremacist will pretend that he didn't know what he was representing all this time, and he will now cover his tattoos and be a good teammate with all those Negro players the league. The right- wing writers  and media will blame it on the "woke" crowd and liberal hysteria, and some will chalk it all up to youthful indiscretion and a lack of personal growth. It started already.

The problem is, of course, that you can cover or even remove your tattoos, but that doesn't necessarily change what's in your heart.

Go Eagles!

I have not watched or followed any organized sports since Colie's folly. It's funny that feelz post some obscure story about 'da feetsballz.

The biggest story in the last 24 hours is how Obama's FBI framed General Flynn. Don't worry nothing will happen to Bammy or his goons, but as the facts keep coming out the Democrats will look worse and worse. Not the best strategy in an election year. Oh, and Biden knows all about it. Best to keep him in the basement and away from anyone that might ask about it. Not the he would have a coherent response.

Good on you feelz. Trump will win reelection and will further cement himself as Obama's legacy.

I feel like it isn’t a 100% perfect comparison between Colin Kaepernick’s protests and this dude’s wingnut extremist tattoos.

Kaepernick “taking a knee” is pretty unequivocally a public statement made on his bosses’ time, which they have a legal right to prohibit (whether it is right for them to prohibit it is a separate question). Tattoos are a much murkier issue, because an employee’s body is very much within the personal sphere of that employee, so we should be asking questions about whether employers can regulate them. Should employers be able to refuse employment based on a person having a tattoo they don’t like? Should they be limited to just demanding the employee cover it up?

It would also be interesting to see the reaction if Kaepernick was sporting a tattoo that some fans might not like, such as one with a stridently anti-police slogan. Undoubtedly, there would be outrage from the usual right-wing corners. But would he have been de facto banned from the league over it, as he has with the anthem protests? Or would the team owners just have demanded he hide the tattoo to keep his job?

  27. Michael Flynn about to be exonerated:

Newly disclosed notes appear to be written by Bill Priestap, the former head of the FBI’s counterintelligence division, and show agents debating how to handle the questioning of the former top U.S. Army officer. In one instance, he writes: “What’s our goal? Truth/admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?”

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/michael-flynn-investigators-documents-reveal-ex-national-security-adviser-was-set-up-by-fbi-his-lawyers-say

It was obvious from the beginning that Mike Flynn's ouster was a total set-up, because the circumstances of it were so implausibly stupid. They tried to criminalize completely routine phone conversations with the Russian ambassador. Barack Obama’s State Department knew it was standard transition of power and talks with Russia were normal.

    https://youtu.be/lHmQBrAe1o8

This is the part of Russiagate that has always been the most mind boggling. If Putin and Trump truly were engaged in a conspiracy to steal the 2016 election, there could not have been a worse person to coordinate said conspiracy for Russia than the Russian Ambassador to the US.

If Trump pardons Mike Flynn, left/liberals will of course screech that it's some kind of fascist power-grab, when in almost any other context what they'd denounce is the FBI's blatant entrapment-style tactics. But when those tactics are used against political enemies, they cheer.

According to the article on The Hill, (which I had to hunt for since you were to lazy to include in you post) Flynn resigned as national security adviser after admitting that he misled administration officials about his discussions with Russia's ambassador to Washington about U.S. sanctions before Trump took office. Flynn initially pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to investigators about his contacts with foreign nationals, including the Russian ambassador, but has since sought to withdraw his plea.

So Flynn lied to the FBI to cover up his violating The Logan Act, which is a law that bars unauthorized Americans from negotiating with foreign governments over disputes with the U.S.

Thus I am wondering why you are defending him.

You're right, as was confirmed by a two-year investigation into the Trump campaign. It's never happened.

Except of course when Bill Clinton gave missile targeting technology to the Chinese government in return for millions in campaign donations.

Or when Hillary Clinton sold 20% of US uranium reserves to the Russians in return for $160 million in donations to her slush fund foundation.

Or when Joe Biden looked the other way at Chinese trade violations so his son could get millions of dollars from Chinese government banks. Or when he threatened to pull a billion dollars of aid to an ally unless they quashed an investigation of his son's graft.

Other than that, except for when John Kerry undermined US policy by meeting with the Iranian, Palestinian, and North Vietnamese governments, and the times Jimmy Carter went to North Korea for unauthorized negotiations with Kim Jong-il, or maybe that time he met with Hamas, pretty much never happened.

Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 2.8 million votes.

Clinton's overall margin was due to Clinton's huge margin of victory in one state — California — where she got a whopping 4.3 million more votes than Trump.

Ergo, Trump won the popular vote of the other 49 states by 1.5 million votes.

I'd like to tale this opportunity to give kudos to the Field Negro Blog. It is one of the last places on the internet that allows anonymous commenting. Comments are rarely deleted.

Most internet speech today is now highly regualted.

Most major media outlet site no longer even permit commenting on their stories.

About two thirds of the Twitter accounts I used to follow are vaporized, gone, POOF, not even archives remain.

What’s more common is demonetization of high traffic “extremists” on major platforms like YouTube and enforcing the rules more harshly against them.

Yeah, widespread demonetization and shadowbanning are on top of plain old deletion censorship.

Though it pains me to admit it, the internet’s open frontier promise of the early years has largely fallen by the wayside. To get traffic on the network, you need a network effect: to be where others go. For better or worse the social media platforms have largely corralled the network effect for themselves. Yeah, you can build your own website, but if no one knows about it, will they come? No, of course not.

Facebook, Twitter and Google largely determine what the world sees beyond traditional broadcast media. And increasingly they are confining that view to the same thing as traditional broadcast media. If they don’t like your $20 website, no one will find it. There’s a reason the ADL, SPLC, et al. are concentrating their efforts on these platforms. They know where the chokepoints are.

It’s ironic in a way. Back in the mid-1990s, when the internet was first exploding into public consciousness, most people were “accessing” it through America OnLine, Compuserve and other purveyors of a “walled garden of content”. Gradually, the public slipped beyond their grasp into the wider web. Then came the “social web”, “social media” and everything having to have a “social” aspect. I mistrusted that new wave instinctively at the time. Today I can see that mistrust was spot on. Those social media sites have become new improved AOL walled gardens of content. If they don’t like, you don’t exist, for all practical digital purposes. Meet the new boss, same as the old. It took a decade, millions of manhours, and billions of dollars, but they really have managed to stuff most of that freed toothpaste back into the tube. Now they just have to wipe out the little untubed smudges that remain. Like you and me.

Let us pause for a moment’s remembrance of the freedom that was the turn of the century’s internet.

We shall not look upon its like again.

Here in black and white are the terms to which Gen. Michael Flynn agreed. He waived his right to further exculpatory evidence, he agreed that his representation was adequate and that he was indeed guilty of the crime(s) charged. He signed on the dotted line but for the Fox crowd let's pretend that the "shocking" new evidence uncovered by his new attorney is a thing, a thing that will be forgotten by Tuesday but hey as good sheep we have to go along with the game.

No, the Electoral College is functioning as designed, preventing massive voter fraud and vote harvesting in large states from tipping elections. California alone provided all and more of Hillary's popular vote margin; Trump won the popular vote of the other 49 states.

Eliminate the Electoral system, and he country will rightly break up.

So you don't believe in democracy - one person, one vote? We are all Americans. Why should it matter which states tip the election? As for "vote harvesting" what does that mean exactly? And Trump's special commission to discover "voter fraud" didn't find any because there was none.

So your entire argument is full of holes.

BTW, the electoral college was adopted in order to get southern colonies to join the union because the south feared that the more heavily populated north would out vote them. In addition the founding fathers added that slaves would be counted as 3/5 of a person to give the slave states more representation in congress.

  74. As Sara Carter detailed last night, U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan unsealed four pages of stunning FBI emails and handwritten notes Wednesday, regarding former Trump National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, which allegedly reveal the retired three star general was targeted by senior FBI officials for prosecution, stated Flynn’s defense attorney Sidney Powell. Those notes and emails revealed that the retired three-star general appeared to be set up for a perjury trap by the senior members of the bureau and agents charged with investigating the now-debunked allegations that President Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia, said Sidney Powell, the defense lawyer representing Flynn.

Moreover, the Department of Justice release 11 more pages of documents Wednesday afternoon, according to Powell.

While we await Judge Sullivan's order to unseal the exhibits from Friday, the government has just provided 11 more pages even more appalling that the Friday production. We have requested the redaction process begin immediately.@GenFlynn @BarbaraRedgate pic.twitter.com/YPEjZWbdvo
    — Sidney Powell ⭐⭐⭐ (@SidneyPowell1) April 29, 2020

“What is especially terrifying is that without the integrity of Attorney General Bill Barr and U.S. Attorney Jensen, we still would not have this clear exculpatory information as Mr. Van Grack and the prosecutors have opposed every request we have made,” said Powell.

It appears, based on the notes and emails that the Department of Justice was determined at the time to prosecute Flynn, regardless of what they found, Powell said.

“The FBI pre-planned a deliberate attack on Gen. Flynn and willfully chose to ignore mention of Section 1001 in the interview despite full knowledge of that practice,” Powell said in a statement.

“The FBI planned it as a perjury trap at best and in so doing put it in writing stating ‘what is our goal? Truth/ Admission or to get him to lie so we can prosecute him or get him fired.”

The documents, reviewed and obtained by SaraACarter.com, reveal that senior FBI officials discussed strategies for targeting and setting up Flynn, prior to interviewing him at the White House on Jan. 24, 2017. It was that interview at the White House with former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and FBI Special Agent Joe Pientka that led Flynn, now 61, to plead guilty after months of pressure by prosecutors, financial strain and threats to prosecute his son.

Powell filed a motion earlier this year to withdraw Flynn’s guilty plea and to dismiss his case for egregious government misconduct. Flynn pleaded guilty in December 2017, under duress by government prosecutors, to lying to investigators about his conversations with Russian diplomat Sergey Kislyak about sanctions on Russia. This January, however, he withdrew his guilty plea in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. He stated that he was “innocent of this crime” and was coerced by the FBI and prosecutors under threats that would charge his son with a crime. He filed to withdraw his guilty plea after DOJ prosecutors went back on their word and asked the judge to sentence Flynn to up to six months in prison, accusing him of not cooperating in another case against his former partner. Then prosecutors backtracked and said probation would be fine but by then Powell, his attorney, had already filed to withdraw his guilty plea.

Exclude California, and Trump won the total combined popular vote of all the other 49 states by over 1 million.

That's what we have in America. But on a national level, we are not a democracy, we are a Republic. We pick the President not by one national election, but by 50 individual state elections.

"BTW, the electoral college was adopted in order to get southern colonies to join the union because the south feared that the more heavily populated north would out vote them."

Not exactly. It wasn't a strictly north/south thing. Virginia was the most populous state at the time. The idea was that small states would be guaranteed a say in who was President. The protection of small states rights is also why the Senate was created:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connecticut_Compromise

"In addition the founding fathers added that slaves would be counted as 3/5 of a person to give the slave states more representation in congress."

The North rightly complained that the South would get extra representation and share of federal revenues because their population totals included slaves (kind of like how California does today by counting illegal aliens). The North wanted only citizens to be counted. The compromise resulted in the South getting about 1/3 more house seats and electoral votes but also having to pay a higher share of federal taxes. This is commonly misrepresented as meaning slaves were considered 60% of a person, when it meant nothing of the sort.

    Bonus Quote of the Day

May 1, 2020 at 9:45 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 63 Comments

“From the very beginning, this administration made the decision that there was no legitimate role for the federal government to play in responding to this crisis. It wasn’t an accident they didn’t request any money in the early days. They really believed, as they believe today, that this is a problem states and local governments should confront.”

    — Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), quoted by Vox, on the coronavirus pandemic.
    -----------------
Our country has been invaded by the CV19 virus. Is it not the first duty of the president of the United States to protect the people of the country, even if the invasion does not involve troops or bombs? Trump's behavior in the face of this crisis is the worst dereliction of duty by an American president in the history of the United States. Only woodrow Wilison's failure to act during the Spanish Fly pandemic in 1918 comes even close.

Here are some of comments coming from Trump and his administration regarding the pandemic:

    A. "We are not a shipping clerk."
    B. "The notion of the federal stockpile was it's supposed to be our stockpile. It's not supposed to be states' stockpiles that they then use."
    C. “We started off with an empty shelf,” “We didn’t have very much in terms of medical product."

So we are not one country in the eyes of Trump and his minions We are red states who support him and blue states that do not.

We are on our own, folks. Thank God for the Governors who have stepped up to the task and acted responsibly.

Sorry, Mike, I didn't realize that. It seems that the virus has mutated into three different strains named A, B, and C.
Here's part of the article -

"In other words, it might only appear that one strain of the novel coronavirus kills more people than another strain—perhaps because some countries and communities are doing more testing and more accurately attributing deaths to the virus.

Morrison, for one, proposed that mortality from COVID-19 could hinge on the patient’s genes, not the virus’s. “Perhaps a more important issue is that it is now becoming obvious that people vary greatly in their response to the virus, due mainly to genetic differences in our own immune systems.”

Otherwise, you or your family might be subjected to the “next stage.” Right now, the right is asking for voluntary sacrifices of the old and weak, but history shows it’s just a few atrocities away from being made mandatory."

Tara Reade, a former Senate staffer who has alleged she was sexually assaulted by former Vice President Joe Biden, told The Associated Press that the complaint she filed 27 years ago did not explicitly accuse the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee of sexual harassment or assault.

“I remember talking about him wanting me to serve drinks because he liked my legs and thought I was pretty and it made me uncomfortable,” Reade told the AP on Friday. “I know that I was too scared to write about the sexual assault.”

Reade, who previously said she filed a sexual harassment complaint against Biden, said “uncomfortable” was the main word she used in her complaint and noted she was fearful of retaliation. Reade said she intended to report the harassment and assault but “chickened out.”

Brilliant plan because they know the "woke" people will immediately jump on this. The left takes this seriously unlike the right and this will tar any candidate that poses a threat. i.e. Justin Fairfax. The sad part is trump and Cavanaugh might really be guilty but they'll still get elected/appointed.

Should employers be able to refuse employment based on a person having a tattoo they don’t like? Should they be limited to just demanding the employee cover it up?"

Fair point, but the NFL is a unique employer, all the players represent "the brand".The question we have to ask ourselves is this: Does this kicker properly represent the NFL brand, given all the baggage that comes along with his tattoos?

The same would be said if certain players, for instance, had gang affiliated

Sure was a lot of excitement about a tattoo some recently drafted kicker had on his arm. Some symbol used by a group no one had ever heard of but apparently meant he was a Nazi. After a quick internet hate campaign, the kid has said he's going to have his tattoo removed. Another scalp for the SJW's. What was this horrible symbol? Who were these evil Nazi's?

I looked on line and found the 3 percenter website. There's not a word about race on it. Seems to be made up for some young guys Larping about standing up for Constitutional rights. The horrible symbol is a Roman numeral "3" surrounded by "1776" and the 13 stars of the original states.

This is what they present as their goal:

The goal and main focus of ‘The Three Percenters - Original’ is to get patriots to network, prepare, and petition together on a local level. We intend to provide a framework and guidance that ‘The People’ can use to make positive change in restoring the founding principles of our Constitutional Republic. We plan to leverage incorporated fail-safes and laws to ensure success in preserving the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. Leadership roles in this organization were created to achieve this goal and to serve, not command, those they are appointed over.

Is the Constitution a white supremacist manifesto?

A quick perusal of their posts found nothing racial, all political. Seems like standard anti-Socialism boilerplate. They put up a response to the tattoo controversy:

First and foremost, we are NOT a white supremacy group and we are NOT a militia or paramilitary group. The Three Percenters - Original stands for Freedom, Liberty and the Constitution, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background. We have members of all backgrounds and from all walks of life. We have a core value that is the key component to being a Three Percenter, not an external element, such as race.

What we are is a national organization made up of patriotic citizens of all colors and religions who love their country, their freedoms, and their liberty. We are committed to standing against and exposing corruption and injustice. Being a Three Percenter is more of a way of life. We will defend our country, freedoms, and Constitution.

Perhaps you'd prefer to live in Liberia, which had/has pretty much the same constitution as the USA, with one proviso:  only people of African descent could be citizens.

Of course, when the freedmen from the USA arrived there, they promptly established plantations like the ones they had recently left, worked by enslaved locals.  Those plantations still existed through the first half of the 20th century.

But yes, if you stay here you're pretty much admitting that white supremacy is true:  you prefer to live where it holds sway, even as you destroy it and all its works.
