Neocon folly, and Rush's fat jokes.

Muammar Gadaffi would make a great wingnut politician. He is one crazy and delusional dude.
I wonder if this is what W and the Neoconartists envisioned when they invaded Iraq? A wave of protesters sweeping the Middle East and demanding freedom from their leaders. If it is, I am pretty sure that they didn't think this one out to its logical conclusion. I think I will go shopping for a smaller more fuel efficient car this weekend.

With all due respect to Steven Cook, (a man I respect) who wrote about this a year ago, I don't see any stability on the horizon in the Middle East. And, if the region does stabilize, (stabilize being a relative term for that part of the world) and the governments all become more democratic; was it really worth the thousands of American and Iraqi lives it cost us to invade Iraq to achieve that goal?

What is going on in the Middle East now has left my Neocon and conservative friends in somewhat of an ideological pickle: Do you embrace democracy even if it's not exactly the democracy you want? And are some dictators actually better than others? ----How is a secular dictatorship any better than a religious one?

"Sixty years of Western nations excusing and accommodating the lack of freedom in the Middle East did nothing to make us safe - because in the long run, stability cannot be purchased at the expense of liberty. As long as the Middle East remains a place where freedom does not flourish, it will remain a place of stagnation, resentment and violence ready for export."

We will see Mr. Bush. We will see.

Finally, I see that Rush is up to his old reprehensible tricks. My man was actually making fun of the First Lady's weight on Monday, and he joins Andrew Breitbart and other republi-clowns, who have made a sport of taking personal shots at the First Lady's appearance. Nice.

As if those two can talk about someone's weight. I mean honestly; wouldn't that be like Charlie Sheen lecturing us about the dangers of drug use?

Anyway, shake em off Michelle. Don't worry about the haters. Just keep doing what you do and history will be kind to you. Rush and Andrew? Not so much.

well, look what we did after we called for elections in the territories and hamas won. we shunned them. so question one, answer NO.

two, yes, not everyone wants/needs democracy and as long as no religion is involved i believe some quarter can be given. everyone is not american. despite our superiority complex, we do not know what everyone wants, needs, or is ready for as far as governance.

we achieved nothing good in iraq, and we achieved nothing at all in afghanistan.

There is no doubt that Bush, Rumsfeld and the rest of the crew were hoping the presence of some real freedom and some basic democracy in Iraq would give those hapless and abused muslims all across the middle east and north Africa some revolutionary ideas.

    Looks like it worked.

It's great isn't it? Things may not go perfectly for anyone. But by itself these big changes are one heck of a reward for the world.

If it is, I am pretty sure that they didn't think this one out to its logical conclusion.

Oh. So in field-country, freedom and an increase in democracy means higher oil prices, which, by the tone of your words, you suggest it is bad for these changes to occur and that the world, or at least the US would be better off with the dictators.

First, this is another of your demonstrations of knowing nothing about what's important to the world and to the US. Morevoer, it also shows you have no clue about how or why oil markets move.

The oil in middle east muslim nations is found, drilled for and pumped by mostly crews of foreign workers. Muslims are too wrapped up in their idiocy to actually run the oil industries that guys like Khadaffey are controlling in their capacity as dictators. They don't share the moolah with the people. Nice, eh?

If there were some freedom and democracy in these countries, much more oil would get pumped and a lot of the money would go into the economies of these oppressed countries. See Iraq if you need an example.

I think I will go shopping for a smaller more fuel efficient car this weekend.

This comment shows that you have no understanding of finance. But we already knew that.

If you could buy a Hummer for almost nothing or a Prius for its current price -- which will now include an extra premium that dealers can charge the fearful -- which purchase makes more sense from a total, all-in, dollars point of view?

Here's a clue: buy the Hummer.

The cost of the vehicle and the gas you burn over the next few years will total less than what you will spend to buy and operate the Prius.

  3. If America would have been a honest broker in the first place, the Middle East and the Maghrib would be a much more stable place.

In most of the world a Black man being President of America is a big accomplishment. In most of the Third World Black is as low as you can get. That encourage them along with Twitter, Facebook, and a American President that read Malcolm X and Franz Fanon and has a Arabic middle name.

  5. Seriously, they hear one story about her eating ribs one time and now she's fat? I mean seriously? That fat fuck has the nerve to talk about someone's weight???? She is about as slim as you can get but with a nicely muscled build. I can't stand that m-f and all the crapola he talks and that Dimbart creature. Part of what the first lady is talking about is a BALANCED DIET, that means that sometimes you can have a burger, pizza, fries or RIBS but that you can't eat that all the time AND you need to eat nutritious foods mostly and it all food in moderation. If Michelle Obama is fat then there isn't one single non-fat person in America.

As for the Middle East, those wingers never cared about democracy in those countries. And given all the dictators we've propped up there we might not like democracy when it comes b/c they might democratically decide they don't want to do business with us, or at least not on the terms that Exxon, Shell, Sunoco and BP want.

  6. maria,

Hamas is a terrorist organization that is popular among some of the world's most ignorant people. Inasmuch as the morons of Gaza decided to elect the people who will succeed only in making their lives even worse, and because the US does not have an interest in dealing with acknowledged terrorist governments -- like Iran -- we will stand by, sort of.

Unfortunately, because our muslim-in-chief president loves his Islamic terrrorists, some undesirable complications have arisen.

Hillary, not long ago, jabbered about having a Jewish great-grandfather, or something. Now, Hillary the Hypocrite is turning on Israel.

In any case, muslims always put their religion/politcal doctrine/military first. If these nitwits want to create democracies like the one in Turkey and the one in Iraq, then things will work out well enough.

But Gaza stands alone. The government there exists only to pursue its pointless objective of destroying Israel. If Israel were to collapse, then the region would turn into the same sewer that is now Gaza.

Good point Field. They(the Imperialists) didn't count on this and lets be absolutely clear; the so-called free market, capitalism does not need democracy to thrive.

We don't even have one in this country. There is only whats called bourgeosie democracy that is, democracy for the rich.

In fact any kind of authoritarian governmennt works fine, which is why the US supported Ben Ali, Mubarrak and all of the other despots in the world.

All they want is stability for business. In fact fascism works just fine. NO unions, No rights all the better to make money and hold down wages, unfettered and un harrassed by those who seek justice and fairness.

The freer the country the harder it is to oppress its workers and squeeze profits.

This is why the US's initial reaction to the uprising in Egypt was to defend Mubarraks regime and call it "stable."

Its why its taken so long to support the pro democracy forces in Egypt the US ain't about democracy, no this government is about profit and power.

The problem with this statement is that Mubarak was a trusted US ally who recieved BILLIONS in US aid annually.

Would you support a democratic uprising in Saudi Arabia?

Yeah. That's why the US has been pushing democracy for years, while trying to balance the push with keeping the all-out fighting to a minimum.

And given all the dictators we've propped up there we might not like democracy when it comes b/c they might democratically decide they don't want to do business with us, or at least not on the terms that Exxon, Shell, Sunoco and BP want.

Another nitwit who knows nothing about the oil industry, capitalism and democracy. Three strikes. Nice.

If the region becomes as democratic as Iraq, ALL the countries will become MUCH more prosperous AND ALL the companies engaged in developing and building those countries will make far more than they do today.

The people of those countries will be the biggest beneficiaries -- by far.

Again you show your utter ignorance of finance and economics.

Egypt, for example, has a tiny economy -- $220 billion GDP. Walmart is economically bigger than Egypt.

If Egypt were a capitalistic democratic nation it's economy would grow like crazy. Those nitwit Egyptians can't even grow enough food to feed the population and they can't seem to find but a fraction of the oil in the Egyptian soil.

That would change -- and the people will benefit. Very simple. Happens every time. Japan, Germany, South Korea, Israel, and now Iraq.

What's going on in the Middle East is a direct result of the white West - Brittain and the US - dividing up the earth there along artifical lines to serve the economies of the West, not according to ancient tribal areas. This is where Kuwait came from and all the other "countries" according to the dominant Western model. We here tend to have very short memories and even worse education that most people don't even know how the dominant Western powers divided things against the natural pre-existing order. Israel resulted from this same process at the profound expense of the Palestinians who were living there at the time. We reap what we sow.

Neo-cons never had a clue. They like to pretend to the ill-informed that they knew...like calling Hamas a terrorist group and depending on the isolationist oafs to beleeverate it. But you will note that not one of the 'Merican Empire cheerleaders put their bodies anywhere near the icky place. Nor did any speak the languages to be found there. Nor were they experts.
bush, Rummy, Pearle...just wanted a war to gin up the Heeyucks during voting time. They only kiss and hold hands with the thugs known as the House of Saud and pay the locals to keep wages low, low, low. This fantasy of spreading freedom only rates if you define freedom as Robber Baron Capitalism with a whiff of Wite Empire.
Love how Slappy uses a strawman non-choice...full price for one of the most desired cars...or one for free. That's not finance...it is cheating. Let's try equal costs to purchase and see how they do over time. Prius may still be more expensive...but it also doesn't advertise that one is a Darwin Award 'winner' with numerous 'shortcomings'. There is also the wingnut fantasy of cheap gas forever. If Saudi has hit Peak Oil, your SUV will be your house...as none but the very rich will afford the price to move it.
Given the extensive track records of bush, Rummy, Pearle, Cheney, Rice...I would not expect any good from their 'efforts'. In fact, I would think the flowering of Democracy is done by the blood of locals, despite the machinations of folks who thinkerate they are the Greatest Players at the Great Game.
Mell, dictatorships are not stable..nor economic. Once the oligarchy is removed, the money flows. Seems that giving it all to the rich stifles innovation, investment and profit. Why expend any effort if Massa get it all? Government that shares the wealth give me tons more customers and increases my cash. I can invest without cutting in such 'silent partners' like bush, Quayle, Sarey or other boobs. Saves me money. My taxes go for services like roads, safety nets, and education. Not faith-based kickbacks, bailouts of friends of bush, or similar wastes.
Look at why everyone else loves Socialist Democracy...money for everyone and the rich have to pout...but they are still rich...so what is the problem?

If the budding democracy isn't the one you were looking forward to "doing business with", you subvert it. Attempt to move your allies from within the government into influential positions. Reshape the media to put a different spin on things. Make the new government seem like the bad guys.

If that don't work, there's always sanctions and isolation. Look at Cuba -- when Castro was brought in, only to say "FUCK YOU" to the U.S. and be his own guy, we cut off diplomatic and economic ties from him and haven't been back that way since.

    Or assassination.

  15. mack lyons,

Have you noticed that Cuba cannot find a barrel of oil in the same Gulf of Mexico from which we pull a subtantial portion of our domestic production?

Have you noticed that Cuba, despite its huge capacity for producing sugar nobody wants, is incapable of converting it into ethanol?

For a country with extreme energy shortages, yet surrounded by energy opportunities, Cuba is remarkably helpless.

Could that have something to do with its moronic dictatorship?

Do you know that Cuba does not have a fishing industry? Do you know why?

Castro does not trust Cubans in boats with engines and full of gas. If Cubans want to go fishing, they have to go like The Old Man and the Sea, in their little skiffs powered by the wind.

Funny how all the conservatives talk about 'democracy' but balk at the idea of people standing up for their fundamental rights for justice and self determination. Whether its Madison, Wisconsin or Tripoli, Libya; you can count on the neo-cons to get a bee in their bonnet because 'the unwashed masses' have the nerve to rise up and demand change.

To all the wing nut trolls out there - real democracy is a game of Cee-Lo. You may roll a 12, you may get snake eyes. But if you really believe in the principle of one man one vote, you live with that consequence. That's something that many of over leaders, particularly the wing nut autocratic types (and their parrots like no_slappz are uncomfortable with. Giving brown people the right to vote for their own governance and leadership -- they may vote for leaders whose first interests are those of said brown people, and not that of the West. A big mess indeed.

Hmmmmmm, democracy is a good thing but be prepared for the consequences. Gotta agree with ya Field, if and when democracy comes to some of these oil rich nations I don't think the general population will be too happy that the U.S. propped up the rulers at their expense. Slappz is right, the people will benefit from the oil money but what happens when they decide to call the U.S. debt and trade in Euros? Won't that cause a financial meltdown in the U.S.? Maybe our esteemed economic/atmospheric expert could chime in since us darkies don't know nothing about money.
BTW, buying a Hummer makes more sense that buying a car with better gas mileage? Oh wingnut logic is astounding. The cheapest Hummer I could find was around 20K, so of course me being economically challenged I think I could find a nice late model Corolla or Civic for the same price. Wouldn't maintenance on a Corolla be cheaper than a Hummer? OK, I'll stop playing with the humor trolls.
Hey Slappy, I had a question for you on the other story. If you want write your answer here because I really want to know the answer. Basically the question is what causes rain/precip? I ask because I think you may have a fundamental misunderstanding about climate.

Interesting article Rev. I'll have to reread it again tomorrow before I have an opinion. A few things offhand though, the weather/climate stations that take the temperature readings are consistant year after year location wise so an increase in temp is an increase in temp regardless of urban heat island effect ect. Also, I have to look into the claim of so many sensors being located near heat sources, ect because the FAA, NWS and NOAA depend on accurate data and such mislocations would be problematic. Also your comment about Republicans driving SUV's not being responsible for temperature increases are a bit too simplistic. Of course if you drive to your local Walmart in a Hummer the temp won't increase sensibly of course but if you drive your SUV and I drive my SUV and she drives her....we do contribute CO2 to the atmosphere. Will increased levels of CO2 cause climate change? Chances are someday probably. What changes? Nobody knows but models show some positive feedback in the near future. Are we doomed? Probably not but we should clean up our act because we really don't know what all that CO2 will do. We are seeing warmer temps globally, the question is are we contributing to it or is it a natural fluxuation. That is the million dollar question. Humans are contributing somewhere between 1-100% of the warming. Right now there are more questions than answers but to say it's a hoax is premature and bad science, ask your brother.
BTW, I work with the meteorology program at College of DuPage and their AMS chapter is always looking for speakers and contributers to their e-mail forums. If you could ask your bro if he'd be interesting in participating in any capacity that would help out us out alot. Any consideration would be appreciated. Check out their FB page if you get a chance

And yes rev. there are numerous assaults on evolution science by Republicans. I included some links for you to check out. We can't pretend this is not happening, it's happening all overthe country and it is almost exclusively a Republican thing. I for one do not want our students dumbed down and that is what many Republicans are trying to do. In Illinois in their party platform they state directly they support abstinence only education. I for one had comprehensive science based sex-ed and it helped out and answered many questions, I would not want any student to be deprived of the same. Do you agree with abstinence only ed? Now with these few examples isn't it reasonable that I would not be interested in voting Republican? Aren't these valid reasons or are we going to be stuck on the meme that I only want a handout and my "masters" tell me how to vote? If you want I can list all 1,134 reasons I don't vote Republican if you want.

Obama’s chief goal in dealing with federal spending is to make himself look good at the expense of the GOP before next year’s election. That’s why Republicans are being forced to take the lead on entitlements, and that’s why we’re now witnessing the surreal spectacle of a liberal Democrat scolding conservatives for being insufficiently pro-Pentagon. Defending the defense budget not only earns him C-in-C points, it’s a clever way to signal to the public that the GOP’s relatively modest $100 billion in cuts is outrageously outrageous, so out comes the veto pen.

It's worse than that. Obama just said that even the Republicans' small cuts in defense would "undermine ... national security." Just to let all of you Obama voters in 2008: yes, he's arguing for a bigger military budget than the Republicans. He has moved the withdrawal date from Afghanistan to 2014 and if Petraeus asks for longer, how can we trust he won't get it?

If this is the president's attitude toward the debt crisis, made so much worse by the recession, it means this country's pressing problems have been deferred until he gets re-elected. Change? This is not just more of the same; it's far worse - and with every year, more dangerous.

  51. hobama has been the most elitist war mongering ruthless neocon prez ever

In the months after Barack Obama won the presidency with near-total support of Blacks and the white Left, a New York Black activist was fond of telling audiences to pay attention to the First Black President's face, not necessarily his actions. According to this theory, the president had to pretend he was in synch with the corporations and conservative whites, but he's really a good "brother" with Black folks interests at heart. Just look for "the wink." That presidential wink at Black folks was supposed to be the signal that Obama is working his game to our benefit.

Obama has been doing lots of winking as president, but all his signals are designed to please the other side. He almost injured his eyeballs winking at Republicans when he stacked his administration with Bush holdovers and Wall Streeters. He winked till his eyelashes nearly fell out at the insurance and drug companies as he arranged for their continued dominance and super-profits in health care. Obama winked his way into a much larger war in Afghanistan and beyond. He's got that wink, alright, but it's always in the wrong direction.

    Your premise is all wrong.

I don't look for any politician to "save" me and quite frankly the main people I hear spewing that kind of nonsense are white bigots who still can't accept that a black man is their President.

They rationalize it as a case were silly blacks looked for a god like figure and found one in Obama.

They can't accept that the demographics are changing in America and you no longer need a white majority to win the Presidency.

    I think that's a good thing.

Obama is the President for all of America and quite frankly, negroes bitching because he hasn't made a public statement about Mumia or Oscar Grant are being foolish.

What I want to see is the unemployment rate come down (it is declining), companies start hiring and consumers regaining confidence.

What we have been saying over and over again, is that President Obama should use the elegant rhetoric that got him elected President, to honestly explain to America how the disparity between rich and power in our country is now equal to Great Depression era levels and how one percent of the population controls 40 percent of the wealth while the rich are demanding more! But I guess the best we can do is allow President Obama to waste away his Presidency by continuing to be the night watchmen of the plutocrats who sank The United State’s of America into the icy sea, while they speed off ( with all the money) aboard a luxurious yacht purchased from The United State’s Treasury.

wtfu to the truth of new black poverty in america
and hobama and his banksters star roles in that new poverty

This also has real material impact. So, for instance, reports from last month show that home loss is increasing nationwide and that foreclosure rates will eventually surpass those of 2010. According to one analyst the “sea change” we are seeing is not a reduction in home loss but a shift in the cause from bad loans to “unemployment and economic displacement.” It is why Milloy also noted that the nation’s richest Black community, Prince George’s County, Maryland, is also home to the highest Black foreclosure rate. Even the best off can’t save themselves. But this is not simply about Black inferiority in money management. The reasons reach far deeper into the recesses of this nation’s history and culture than most realize or can allow themselves to conceive.

Consider the work of Georgetown University Law professor Emma Coleman Jordan. During her 2009 address to The Fourteenth Annual Derrick Bell Lecture on Race in American Society this Critical Race Theorist explained the current home foreclosure crisis in terms of what she calls this nation’s “algorithm of inequality.” Jordan, performing her own Critical Race Theory, explains the foundation of these foreclosures in similar terms and is clear that they are not at the root of this most recent financial crisis despite popular claim. No. Jordan explains that the issue is a crisis born out of African America’s original crisis, enslavement and the redevelopment of humanity. She points to 1865 and explains that the idea of home ownership has for Black people been about what she calls “the psychic dividing line between slavery and freedom.” Home and land ownership is what for the formerly enslaved represented a free and human identity. Add to that decades of myth-development, the myth of home-ownership as the key component to civilized participation in society, and you have what Jordan describes as a perfect storm of susceptibility to the “contractual trap doors beneath a noose of predatory lending terms.” Decades of propaganda followed by intense target marketing of sub-prime loans to Black people and voila: $200 billion in lost wealth.

This is really lame, even for you.

Rangel and Patterson's problems have nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with their own arrogance.

Patterson in particular was a real disappointment to alot of black NYers who felt that he had the talent to be a real force in NY politics and a model of black excellance.

Seems from almost his first day in office it was scandal, then mistep, then another scandal, then of course he was political toast.

Gentrification is not simply white folks moving in. It is capital artificially boosting the value of its assets in land and buildings. In a racist country, that means clearing out the Blacks, whose very presence depresses the value of neighborhoods by repelling whites. When white people cease to racialize their habitation choices, then we can at least begin to discuss the prospects for a “post-racial” American society somewhere over the rainbow. However, with raging gentrification and push-out of Blacks changing the landscape of urban America before our eyes – essentially the same capital- and white-driven dynamic as generations ago, but moving in the opposite direction – discussions of post-racialism are ridiculous, if not outright insulting.

The very idea that integration is considered progress under any and all circumstances is inherently racist, as if Black people should have no higher goal than to endure all manner of dislocations, abuse and over-charging simply to be in the company of white people, if only for so long as it takes to finally be pushed out of town

we who are wise and not racist truly see hobama and u!

The plan is slick, but easy enough to see through - like the president, himself. Dubbed the Transforming Rental Assistance initiative, or TRA, the scheme would allow banks and other speculators to mortgage public housing, and then raise the rents to ten percent above market value. The federal government would make up the difference, pumping the people's money directly into Wall Street accounts. Eventually, of course, the feds will halt or cut back payments, and the properties will revert to the bankers, who will sell them to developers and kick out the tenants. This is gentrification and urban displacement on a gargantuan scale - brought to you by the First Black President.

Imagine! Obama wants to transfer to banks and developers tens of thousands of acres of public-owned urban property - home to 1.2 million families, disproportionately Black and brown - all the while subsidizing the banksters' profits with billions of taxpayer dollars. He would entrust the fates of millions of poor people to the tender mercies of the same criminal-minded class that has destroyed a generation and more of Black homeowners and displaced legions of Black renters from the gentrifying cities

What is wrong with 'gentrification'? I like folks taking care of their house. I like folks working. Why is this bad and evil and caused by the Great Obama Conspiracy?
Seems more that slumlords are having it rough. No more iffy folks to drive down house prices. The neighbourhood cleans up and the slumlord has to put money into the place...or lose it.
I lived in a huge Queen Anne and the area was targeted by wite slumlords. They would rent to scums. Noise, filth, altercations...more than a few sold on the cheap...which the slumlords picked up and then rented for far greater sums than one might imagine.
OOpsy, some former military lads moved in. Fine, handsome...and they 'removed' some of the alpha scums. As working folks moved back in, the slumlords got ticked...cheap Victorians were no longer cheap. And we charged far less rent to decent renters. Before too long...gentrified!

Oh, there are a few worries about renters. Never rent to the mental, the christian or the wingnut.

    bet!

no lies and myths live forever

Reagan reached out and embraced the racist apartheid government of South Africa through his policy of so- called constructive engagement. Reagans solution to the de-industrialization of America was to build the prison industrial complex. His centerpiece was a racist so-called War on Drugs while his friends in the CIA used narcotics peddlers as assets. And then Reagans El Salvadorian Contra buddies began bringing in crack.

Reagan's response to the 1981-1982 recession, the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, was to declare ketchup a vegetable, release federal cheese surpluses, and shackle the strike leaders of the air traffic control union hand and foot and lead them off to jail. My most pronounced memories of the Reagan years are the three hour cheese line and the German care packages to unemployed workers in Detroit. In the first two years of the Reagan administration, his policy was a forced economic recession and de- industrialization of the United Stated. He cut federal low income housing funds by 84%; his tax cuts for the rich, his trickle-on the poor and working class economics ended up tripling all previously existing U.S. government debt. So, when I think of the Reagan legacy, I think of urban decay, crack, homelessness, racism, rampant corporatism and the destruction of the American dream. Amidst the growing homelessness and despair, I remember seeing graffiti all over inner-city Detroit that simply said: Ronald Wilson Reagan 666. Reagans policies so marked him as the beast in Detroit, blue-collar workers actually cheered when he was shot. The hottest song on underground radio was Hinckley had a Vision. The songs refrain, He knew, he knew. When the mainstream media was analyzing Reagan's legacy and actively participating in the mythologizing of the 40th president, they conveniently ignored volumes of work by mainstream reporters. Wall Street Journal reporter Jane Mayer and Los Angeles Times reporter Doyle McManus documented Reagan's diminishing mental capacity in Landslide:

They rationalize it as a case were silly blacks looked for a god like figure and found one in Obama.

They can't accept that the demographics are changing in America and you no longer need a white majority to win the Presidency.

Wait until they have a Latino President. All hell will break loose then. I'm surprise they didn't try to reinstate poll taxes or literacy exams. Oh wait, they did.

    I think that's a good thing.

Obama is the President for all of America and quite frankly, negroes bitching because he hasn't made a public statement about Mumia or Oscar Grant are being foolish.

Indeed. Obama is the POTUS, not Jesus and he can come to everyone's corner and solve everyone's problems. He's literally got the entire world banging at his door with their gripes and concerns.

I think the WI Unions had the right idea -- stand up and fight for yourself and don't wait for the big bad Super Negro in DC to show up.

Oscar Grant? Sure, the President could have said something. But I'd be happy if Jerry Brown and Kamala Harris would say something. And what about all of these Negroes in Hollywood? There's plenty of blame to go around.

Also, as Brooklyn pointed out, Obama commented on Skip Gates. And look at the mess that caused. Imagine if Obama went to tongue-lashing cops. It would make us happy, but it wouldn't smart politically.

But that's the case with many loony lefty types who are always looking for a 'white knight riding in on a horse'. Whether its Obama or Nader -- you're either God or the Devil. There is no in between. And there's not point where one asks, "What am I doing to make change?"

  122. PilotX said..."I can list all 1,134 reasons I don't vote Republican if you want."

No thanks. Worrying about creationism is silly enough. Here's one reason I will never vote democrat:

The NY Times ran an article today about the sinister Koch brothers, who donated a whopping $43,000 to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's 2010 campaign. That was out of more than $11 million that Walker raised, and $37.4 million that was spent, altogether.

One of the memes the MSM is trying to pull off in their coverage of the Wisconsin protests is that the unions are the last bastion against corporate big money promoting the interests of the "rich". In fact the unions ARE big money, and that money is spent in league with corporate money, not against it.

Quoting John Hinderaker today: >So, is Koch Industries one of the largest sources of political cash, in Wisconsin or elsewhere? Not even close. In fact, nearly all of the top moneybags in politics are on the Democratic side of the aisle. Click to enlarge this screen shot from Open secrets, which adds up contributions for the election cycles from 1989 to the present.

You have to get down to number 19 before you find a big-time donor that gives significantly more to Republicans than Democrats. And at $2 million an election cycle, the Kochs have a long way to go before they can be considered big-time contributors.

What's more, of the top 20 donors, 12--more than half--are unions. Isn't there an untold story here? Aren't the Koch brothers lonely rebels who are trying to offset the monolithic power and unparalleled financial muscle of the unions, especially the public employee unions? Isn't that what the Wisconsin story is really about?<

The truth is that the democrats are the party of billionaires, corporatios, labor unions, and the entitlement class.

Republicans are the party of small business and the middle class.

The democrats are an alliance of the rich and powerful with the poor. The middle class is squeezed to pay off the poor, who in return keep the rich and powerful rich and powerful.

A simplistic representation of a much morte complex dynamic, but accurate enough to explain just who has their boot on who.

Obama-induced chemical imbalances messed up Black people’s minds regarding the gap between Black and white incomes. Asked if the racial gap had grown smaller in the last ten years, 56 percent said “yes” in 2009, compared to 41 percent in 2007. In fact, the racial wage gap had grown significantly. In 2000, Black households made 64.8 cents for every dollar made by whites. By 2008 Black households had slipped three cents, to 61.8 cents on the white dollar – approximately the same size gap as existed in 1989 and 1979. Blacks are worse off, income-wise, than ten years ago, and except for a brief uptick in Black household income during the Clinton bubble-boom of the Nineties, the Black-white earnings gap has remained virtually unchanged for the past 30 years.
ObamaL'aid is a mind-altering substance, a hallucinogen. It makes Black people see progress when they are actually facing disaster. Obama-on-the-brain also behaves like an opiate, blocking out pain. African Americans’ ability to apprehend political and economic danger is compromised by Obama-induced delusion, while the opiate effect prevents Blacks from knowing where and how badly they have been hurt. That’s a fatal combination

The Republican House majority hadn't even taken their seats yet, but their presence wasn't necessary to pass the biggest military budget since World War II. Not only can't Obama blame his wars on George Bush, but the First Black President has dramatically outdone his predecessor in expenditures on the machinery of death. “Yet only 12 Black members of Congress can bring themselves to vote against Obama's wars.

From the moment that Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination, we at Black Agenda Report have been predicting that he would become the most pro-war president in modern American history. Forget about the Obama’s phony rhetoric; the proof is in the numbers.

The military budget firmly cements Barack Obama’s place as the biggest pro-war president in two generations. Today, the United States, although it is the world’s only superpower, spends almost as much as all of the rest of the world’s militaries, combined. The U.S. defense authorization for 2011 is $725 billion. China, with the second most expensive military machine on the planet, spends less than $80 billion a year.

If Barack Obama lasts for eight years in office, he is on track to spend $5 trillion dollars on the Pentagon, significantly more than George Bush, who in turn spent a lot more than Ronald Reagan. But, as they say on the TV commercials, that's not all. The defense budget doesn’t include expenditures for Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs, nuclear weapons work at the Department of Energy, military aid to other countries through the Department of State, NASA space programs that are really military projects, the military retirement fund run out of the Department of Treasury, and the interest payments on past military expenditures that were financed by debt. Inclusion of those hidden costs of war would bring military-related spending to well over $1 trillion dollars a year – and rising all the time

Obama is not merely a continuation of the Bush administration's war policies, he has accelerated the descent into a war economy. That is nothing for any Black person to be proud about

  125. Joe Republican by Jeff Parker

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry. In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It's noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FDIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe is home from work.

He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.

Rife with ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) the person could exalt racist stereotypes of unqualified Affirmative Action students/hires who vastly overstate their qualifications. The ODS could also introduce fake memes into the conversation via stealth..as a wite dude who lives in Mom's Basement would be laughed off the thread. A circular screen of 'personas' could make finding actual data impossible and the only input would be pre-screened to fit the tale.
A Rovian creation, much like Welfare Queen, that exists only to reinforce old thoughts and to provide an undercover method to introduce fake. Just enough truth to allay suspicion.

Rev Wite, if you want to be taken seriously, you have to bring Facts to the table. Simple-minded repetition of drivel shows that you can't play in the same league.
No matter how much you scream that you are as good...you have to do, like, the actual work. You don't get a 'Bristol cheat' by faking the votes here.
Which, if you had gone to an actual college, you would have experienced this.
HINT: look up 'peer-review' I may disagree with the current standard...but before I challenge it I will most certainly bolster my case by checking that the Facts and Data support my conclusion.
Or, I can play pretend like wingnuts and just say stuff and ignore that the Facts and Data are completely opposed to what I just said.

I did not know that Obama flew over Arkansas at night, landing only at Mena, to steal the hopes and dreams of only AfAms. Gosh, how did I ever miss that? I also did not know that it was Obama who shot a man in the face, had a male escort in the White House without passing clearance, watched films of tortured Iraqis, had a wife whose friends bragged of her oral prowess, called ketchup a vegetable, fired long-term WH staff for being 'uppity', and had his house built for pennies by the same dude who magically got a cost-plus contract to build for my administration.
Gosh, I thought he was simply ardently pro-business to the point of repeating Hoover. I assumed he was a christmole and could not bring himself to subject bushmoles and christmoles to the vagaries of the actual Free Market. It appeared to me that since his major backers were Wall Street, he might not want to incarcerate the slime that bankrolled his campaign.

Really Rev. Right? The Republicans are the party of small business? The Koch brothers, Exxon Mobile, ect. don't necessarily have to make donations to specific candidates but they are now allowed to spend limitless dollars on ad campaigns without disclosing their involvement. I belong to a union so the tactic of demonizing them falls on deaf ears. In my union, won't speak for others, we have a PAC that is completely voluntary and yes most goes to Democrats but some R's that help the working stiff. Let me tell you why virtually ALL airline pilots vote Democratic. Google "Open Skies Agreement" which is an effort by business to allow foreign airlines to fly domestic routes which os now prohibited and would also allow increased foreign ownership of U.S. airlines. What would happen if this was to pass? You guessed it, thousands of unemployed pilots and a major reduction in pay and benefits. Who fought the passing of this bill? One guess and who do you think fought for its passage? True, both parties have monied interests, which is why I'm an independent, but why are virtually all billionaires Republicans? Why is it the Republicans are forcing union workers to take pay and benefit cuts while slashing tax rates for the rich and eliminating inheritance taxes? You think that is fair? Teachers and working stiffs have to take pay cuts but Paris Hilton can't be taxed for money she did nothing to earn? If you really want to have this debate it's on.
As far as not being worried about creationism we should all be concerned when a party has a major goal of damaging education. That is a major deal if we are to compete with China and India in the future don't you think?

Somehow multi-million dollar campaign ads get funded for conservative candidates but the Koch bros ONLY contributed $43,000. I have a bridge to sell you if you want. This link is to the secret lobbying firm the Koches set up in Madison, WI. I could be wrong but they want to get their hands on the public energy sector in WI that the governor wants to be able to sell at his own discretion without any competetive bids. If you think the billionaires aren't running the Republican party you have a lot to learn about life.

    More millionaires are probably Republicans.

No one is slashing tax rates for the rich (i.e. the people between the poor and the billionaires), who pay almost all the taxes. The super rich billionaires don't care about income taxes because that doesn't affect them.

unless you are talking about people like AB who thought obama was going to be her personal savior.

Well, lets start with so-called Black leaders bitching that Obama has no 'Black Agenda'. As if jobs, education, the environment (corporations love to dump their toxins in Black and Brown communities) or health care has little to do with Black people.

Or, the fact that people are pissed off that Obama didn't magically change the world to their liking yesterday. 8 years of Bush and 30 Years of Reaganomics can't be cleaned up within 2 years, no matter who is charge.

Or, go visit CommonDreams.org or TruthDig.org -- you'd think Obama and MSNBC drank the blood of virgins.

Ultimately, the roundly negative attitudes and disillusionment on the Left only serves the far right. We follow the same pattern -- politicians compromise on something we don't like, so instead of gathering our forces to actively fight back (or at least give our elected leaders the political cover they need), we curl into the fetal position or write irate screeds that conclude only violence direct action can make change.

That's about the size of it maria.

The Obama presidential bully pulpit is reserved for banking interests. As the Associated Press reported in the wake of Senate defeat of legislation that would have allowed hundreds of thousands of homeowners to escape foreclosure through bankruptcy – the “cram-down” bill dreaded by bankers – “Obama did little to pressure lawmakers” to support the measure, despite having endorsed the idea since campaign days. Moreover, “the bankruptcy option got only a tepid endorsement from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner,” who was busy trying to figure out how to take toxic securities off his banker friends’ books by providing public subsidies to private sharks that might be enticed to buy them. “As it became clear the bill would fail,” wrote the AP, “the administration did little to counter the aggressive lobbying by banks fighting the bill and focused its efforts instead on a more popular bill targeting credit card companies” – a very limited measure that is, as of this writing, in doubt.
“The Obama presidential bully pulpit is reserved for banking interests.”

Obama insists that health care is one of his irreducible priorities. Yet he cuts supporters of single payer plans out of the loop to embrace congresspersons friendly to the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, who will ultimately sabotage his own jury-rigged health scheme. New York Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer is already scuttling the boat, with an industry-written alternative to the Obama plan. The kiss-of-death proposal would require any “public” health insurance program to operate precisely as if it were a private insurance plan, effectively negating its reason for being.
The lessen settles in, slowly. President Barack Obama’s administration is not only “race-neutral” – it is essentially change-neutral, as well

What tax is allegedly the first one? The 'I want to pretend the rich are taxed too much'?
Those who toil in the unions of WI, OH and IN pay more in tax as percentage of income than any rich person. You can claim they feel the same pain...but they pay 'candy bar' levels of taxes and we pay 'car' cost levels of taxes.

Example, dismantling the military industrial complex without serious forethought could cause unemployment to skyrocket. (Remember, there's a military manufacturing plant in EVERY congressional district.)

You also have to change the culture of mistrust and disunion left over from this country's many sins and missteps.

But to get over it, we're all going to have to commit to making change. The right has to realize that to have a functioning modern society that can compete globally -- we need to build a progressive social infrastructure (health care, education, roads, high speed internet) as well as human rights for all citizens and that takes money and sacrifice.

And the left, to a certain extent, have to learn that not all our sacred cows are untouchable.

I guess it would be real sad if the envirofacists banned air travel (except for important people like Al Gore, of course). That sure would cut down on CO2 emissions from aircraft, "which are more persistent and damaging than ground-level emissions, and will be contributing much more to global warming by the year 2050, according to a new report released here today by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)". Are you up for that one? If you care about our grandkids, why are you engaging in a daily activity that is (according to the infallible IPCC) destroying the planet?
