Where is the love?

"What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sound of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants brass fronted impudence; your shout of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanks-givings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, are to him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy -- a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of the United States, at this very hour." ~ Frederick Douglass~

Wow! Talk about raining on our parade. That Douglass was one angry black man. Back then he had every right to be. But should we [black folks] be angry, today? Aren't we living in the greatest country on earth? And didn't we just elect a black president? He promised change, but, sadly, A-merry-ca still feels the same. Some of the people in A-merry-ca seem to be angrier and even more hateful.

For those of us fortunate enough to share in the A-merry-can dream, A-merry-ca is all we could ask for. For others,on the other hand, the dream continues to be elusive.

I think that one of the problems with A-merry-ca is the selfish nature of those of us who have managed to move forward. There is no empathy or love for the folks who have been left behind. "Hope" and "change" was supposed to change all of that. It didn't.

Mrs. Field is coming, (hey, I am still on vacation, I shouldn't be blogging) so I will leave you with the words of one of my heroes:

"We talk of change, What is change? Change is the willingness to look at your system and have the courage to know what is wrong. More is not change. Change is to reorder the values of your life. Change is having a vision of a new hope for society...The system by which we can achieve power for our people and freedom that is a change. The means where people sacrifice now for a great day tomorrow, where we will march together in the name of work, in the name of justice, because the word is LOVE." ~ Michael Manley~

Happy Birthday, A-merry-ca. I just hope that we will start learning to love each other more than we love you.

First, let me say that I am a black Conservative in the GOP, which makes me more of a grateful American than some of you liberal black dems on this blog.

Secondly, Frederick WAS an angry black man and that hasn't changed even today. However, in both cases black men are waaaay out of line. BM need to learn how to be happy...so should the sistas.

Third, we WERE living in the greatest country on earth until Obama was allowed to occupy the WH. That Brotha set America back by at least 60 years, financially and racially.

Fourth, some of you Obamaholics like uts, mack lyons, Desertflower, CareyCarey, KID, Carolyn Moon, Ann G. fatass Myma, Rottenkid, LAC, and that black-ass Brit called Purple Cow, have only made things even worse. You folks drank too much of that Obama kool-aid. Now you are sick. Very sick.

Finally, the anti-dote to Obamaholism is to have the "courage to change" by becoming black Conservatives on the "4th of July". Just think of the magnificent timing in celebration! My God, what a grand idea!

I can think of no greater honor you could do for your country for some of you misguided folks. It would set you on the right path of winners.

This goes for you too, Brotha Field. However, I recognize that you are special black case, you being from Jamaica and all of that. But you are still my man.

So, carry on. Don't forget to do some flag waving and don't forget to sing "America the Beautiful!"

Dear Desertflower, I set sail for PR tomorrow...wait for me.

Great words. If only we could them into practice. Ever notice that being human to be constantly implored and tempted by the 7 deadly sins? They never let up, even while you are sleeping they are gathering forces against you:

Pride, anger, greed, lust, gluttony, envy, and sloth are formidable forces that so far have kicked ass. So, what makes anyone think humans have the power to develop the virtues to combat them? I mean, that has been talked about and hoped for but "the human will is too weak to do it."--St. Augustine

Even back in Augustine's time he knew that the human race left to its own selp-propelled egoistical devices, doesn't stand a chance in hell.

Now see, this is WHY nobody listens to ungrateful liberal progressive black men...they are such hypocrites! I mean, this brotha, even during that time chose to be with a ww instead of his own kind. That is sheer hypocrisy.

I wonder why Field didn't make mention of it? It's probably because he is on vacation and didn't have time.:D

"Yup, until they run out of other peoples money to spend."

Notice how this is a problem only for the "socialists". The "corporate capitalists", on the other hand, can "leverage" as much of other people's money as they want -- hell, they can even lose billions of it without so much as a finger raised in objection from those "other people".

This love affair with the moneyed men in this country stockpiling other people's money in a corner is akin to a poor kid having to watch a spoiled rich kid lick an ice cream cone -- the poor kid is just sitting there, wishing he could be the rich kid eating that cone and the rich kid loves taunting and stirring up the jealousy in the poor kid, making every lick of the ice cream cone as protracted and dramatic as possible for the fullest effect. There's something about that masochistic pleasure in seeing the poor suffer a hand-to-mouth existence while you ride astride your gilded carriage that drives conservatives and a great number of CEOs and other corporate capitalists to develop and implement policies that effectively take people back to feudalist peonage.

The love affair will only end when people realise that 1)they are NOT "temporarily embarrased millionaires in waiting" and that they never will be, and 2)their filial piety to their employers and paymasters results in zero net gain, as their paymasters refuse to extend to them any basic privileges other than the privileges of not being fired and being paid their $12/day salary, $10 of which will go to the company store and company housing.

I imagine the rest will be blown on cheap booze and cheap hookers.

It is 'natural' for humans to be selfish. The history of humanity consistently proves it. Why do you think the Seven Deadly Sins are part of the human character? We are self-centered, self-absorbed, self-interested, self-ish greedy bastards. That is our nature and history has shown that the odds are that we cannot change that without some sort of spiritual experience that displaces those ugly selfish human traits. That's where God comes in. No God, you remain a self-deluded human who character is in a trap it cannot spring.

Capitalism is designed to feed the Seven Deadly Sins. Hence, we will talk and talk about sharing but our nature is to be selfish and greedy and lustful. Humans, esp Americans, live in profound denial... We really don't know ourselves. Furthermore, Americans don't want to.

This sucks...Field runs his organization like a bm. Somebody tell that black liberal that he is can't do that.

    ReplyDelete
  19. from the previous post:

Really? where might I find such wrongs by NOI against Jews and JDL?

The NOI perpetrates most of its crimes against city governments. The governments award contracts for services like security in public housing on a race and gender basis. Thus, organizations headed by blacks and women get the first shot.

Since women are chattel slaves in the NOI, contracts for security, etc are obtained because the NOI security groups are made up of black men. However, as people living in housing projects "protected" by the NOI know, the NOI collects its check but provides no security. That's standard operating procedure for the NOI.

BTW, what is JDL doing about it?

The JDL is more or less a defunct organization that was focused on fighting anti-Semitism. It was way too radical for most Jews and never received much support. Louis Farrakhan is an outspoken anti-Semite who has repeatedly blamed Jews for creating AIDS and who has also spewed all the usual Islamic madness about Jews.

The persecution of Jews in America?

Yep. In housing. In hotels. Restrictions that kept them out.

In education. Quotas at the top colleges. Unlike black students, there were too many qualified Jewish students. Good colleges set quotas to keep the number of Jews to a minimum. Like asians today.

doesn't sound right, considering Jews run the media,

Yeah. Rupert Murdoch is Jewish. Can you name any media figures?

    Hollywood,

Are Jews a force in Hollywood? Yes. Do Jews "run" Hollywood? Please. Is Clint Eastwood Jewish? Bruce Willis? Cameron Diaz?

Wall Street...You remember Madoff, don't you?

Madoff is in jail -- for the rest of his life. Do you think Wall Street is like the mafia where men in jail give orders to men on the street? Meanwhile, yes, on Wall Street there's a Jewish presence. But no, Jews do not "run" Wall Street.

Did you know that America supports Israel against the world, while no one will?

Wow. It's Israel against the world? Who knew? The only nations that have attacked Israel are the neighboring Islamic nations -- the nations now undergoing revolutions. Thus, you must believe the nations of the world are allied with the Islamic nations that seek Israel's destruction.

Now, what group in America could swing such political power and money to cause the USA to do something like that?

Political power and money? Hmmm. The US has spent FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS and sacrificed the lives of over 6,000 troops to bring freedom, democracy and capitalism to Iraq and Afghanistan, where there are NO Jews.

We're fighting wars in Libya and Pakistan, two more nations where there are no Jews.

  20. Michael Manley writes:

"We talk of change, What is change? Change is the willingness to look at your system and have the courage to know what is wrong.

The sentence is gibberish. "Courage to know what's wrong?"

Courage to know? What idiocy. It might take some courage for people to ADMIT or CONFESS that some programs and ideas are failures. Like project housing. Like giving mortgages to people with lousy credit scores, questionable jobs and no downpayment money. Like giving bankrupting healthcare and retirement benefits to Americans, etc.

More is not change. Change is to reorder the values of your life.

Change? Change means to become different. But Manley says it means to "reorder values". Thus, in his view, it means doing the same old nonsense in a different order.

Change is having a vision of a new hope for society...

More gibberish. Here's a bit of tried-and-true wisdom. If people go to school, learn some useful skills, do not abuse drugs and alcohol, do not smoke, have children within marriage and avoid violence, life will work out well enough.

The system by which we can achieve power for our people and freedom that is a change.

Power for our people? People with knowledge that matters have power. People who study black history have knowledge that means almost nothing.

The means where people sacrifice now for a great day tomorrow, where we will march together in the name of work, in the name of justice, because the word is LOVE."

Sacrifice? Yeah. That means going to school and learning enough to become useful.

Marching together? The communist credo. Utter nonsense.

Meanwhile, Manley, as head of Jamaica, empowered the police and the Jamaican military to slaughter criminals in that fine country, where the murder rate is out of control.

To field, the deadly streets of Philadelphia are the picture of friendliness and safety compared with Jamaica.

By the way, about 15% of Jamaica's economy is remittance money -- money sent to Jamaica by Jamaicans living in other countries. Then there is the money flowing in from wealthy Americans like Ralph Lauren who own homes in restricted compounds.

Jamaica has benefited from the English-style school system and the fact that some Jamaicans get their higher education in England. But, despite the good foundation, crime on the island is out of control.

Masochistic? As usual, you have no idea what you're jabbering about. For your dopey purposes, the correct word is SADISTIC.

As a resident of Brooklyn, I see lots of blacks driving nice cars. "Gilded carriages", as you like to call them. Cadillac Escalades are popular among blacks who like "gilded carriages."

But let's face it, the Repo Man is working overtime in black neighborhoods.

Then you start with the jokes.

...CEOs and other corporate capitalists to develop and implement policies that effectively take people back to feudalist peonage.

Yeah. The demand for engineers is high. Do blacks study engineering? No. Do whites? Yes. Do asians? Yes. But still there are more jobs than engineers, so CEOs go to Washington to beg Obama to issue more H1-B visas that allow engineers from other countries into the US.

But so far, Obama has done nothing to help.

If oil drilling were permitted in all the places where we know there is easily pumped oil, the US would see a surge of oilfield service jobs, which pay a lot. No such thing as minimum wage in the oilfield sector.

But no, our stooge-in-chief, Obama, wants to pretend that solar and wind power are just as good and just as helpful to the economy.

LMC will unite all races.Love will rule our land.

White buffalo are considered to be sacred signs in several Native American religions, and thus have great spiritual importance in those cultures and are visited for prayer and other religious ceremonies.

    . . .

The Lakota Sioux believe that Whope, the goddess of peace, once appeared in the form of a white buffalo calf, and the belief is that the goddess will return once four such calves are born, bringing in 'a new age', which some reckon could be the end of the world.

'He's the hope of all nations,' said Arby Little Soldier, upon whose land the calf was born on May 12.

'That night it started to rain and thunder and lightening and hail. But now the red man, black man, white man and yellow man; we've all got to come together as one.'

Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling saying,

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Obama has increased the national debt and Obama's budget will nearly triple the national debt by 2019.

Cause it is disengenious. It is a lie. If they borrow your money, they pay you. You get interest and you can take it out at any time you want. End of story. When Socialists take your money to give it to some poor soul who sat on the couch ate ring-ding's and porkrinds while playing video games instead of going to school and working a P/t job and sweating to improve thier lot in life, when money is taken from someone who scrimped, saved, worked nights, weekends and evenings while going to school, getting a good job, opening a business and creating capital - that is called socialism and theft. Last but not least it is not sustainable for after awhile everyone wants to be like the dumb lazy one, why shoudl they struggle if everyone else is not. Then socialism only works at the point of a gun and not very long - How do we know? See any and I do mean ANY socialist society ever in history, it has not worked. This includes EU who is currently plummeting along the path to disaster as the bills are coming due.

Where is that "good" education anymore? Where are those "good" jobs anymore? All I see is people selling food on the street and others struggling from paycheck to paycheck. All I see are small businesses trying to stay alive and constantly being undercut by the big chain stores that offer "not such really 'good' jobs" because these big guys offer part times, with little or no benefits, and they make sure to find a reason to fire the little guy way before they reach retirement!
So basically the masses do not even have job security anymore, or the security of retiring with a pension of any kind!
The only jobs with any sort of security are with the government. Of course professionals with offices can do well, but as this economy gets worse, eventually they will be affected too. That's what I'm seeing anyway. :(

The victim a 70 year old man, who had spent a week in the Dominican Republic and upon his return developed the "symptoms". I take this with a rock of salt because many times here they jump to conclusions without running the necessary tests,so.....But never fear, it's prolly just food poisoning, come to think of I don't feel so good,...no really.....

""We talk of change, What is change? Change is the willingness to look at your system and have the courage to know what is wrong. More is not change. Change is to reorder the values of your life. Change is having a vision of a new hope for society...The system by which we can achieve power for our people and freedom that is a change. The means where people sacrifice now for a great day tomorrow, where we will march together in the name of work, in the name of justice, because the word is LOVE." ~ Michael Manley~"

Anon@10:34p said, "Great words.

Augustine"

You hit the nail on the head. But have ever noticed that when the answer involves humans transcending those 7 deadly sins, which involves 'inner change' humans ignore it and keep talking and doing the same things over and over again expecting different results?

Save your breath, brotha. The people on this blog are only interested in politics that lead to the same results, they are not interested in changing themselves. Or haven't you noticed?

There will never be a discussion on 'self' and the human ego problem. It's too deep. But that's where the answer to drastic change lies. Thanks for reminding me where change lies, though.

My dear Desertflower, thanks for the warning. I didn't know there was any interest in going to the Dominican Republic from Puerto Rico. At least, that's the story I've heard among Hispanics. Just goes to show you, humans are nothing but a bunch of ignoramuses.

Speaking of ignoramuses, I think I am lost again-and it's not the Bermuda Triangle because I haven't made it that far from Chicago yet. Anyway, by the time I get there the cholera will be long gone.

I AM concerned about you not feeling well. I hope it's nothing serious and you are having just a passing human 'not so good day'. But keep me posted.

Hope the cholera rumor in PR is turns out to be wrong. But I am sure we will hear about it nationally if it turns out true. Watch and take care of yourself.

I understand that there is no prejudice there and they have more Black and White marriages there than any where else in the country.

n an era when neocons in blackface, like Ward Connerly and Ken Hamblin, reign supreme, by chanting blindly patriotic mantras of deception and delusion, Jill's political honesty and passion are healing. She can always be counted on for a regal reality check. In a world where denial is death, sister Jill is salvation for real life.

Jill eloquently describes another black neocon poster boy, Juan Williams. Juan is to racist media what Colin Powell/Colon is to Republikkkans and what Clarence Thomas/Uncle Thom is to the Supreme Court. I quote Jill, as her description of racist African immigrants is superbly applicable to Colon and his entire HNIC ilk:

From “Volunteer Slavery”: "Williams is a black Republican type, a neconservative opportunist a la Clarence Thomas. He is also of Panamanian parentage, which explains some of where he’s coming from. He typifies the worst stereotype of people of African descent who come to America inadvertently or willfully ignorant of the history of black folks born here. Many such immigrants, because they ostensibly came here voluntarily, view America as a place where, if you work hard, keep your nose clean, and obey the law, anything’s possible.

They either don’t understand or conveniently forget the hand of America, and those of
other superpowers, in their native region’s dismal economy. These immigrants often have a hard time relating to and understanding African-Americans, who after centuries of experience with what psychologist Na’im Akbar calls “the chains and images of
psychological slavery” do not see America as so beneficent.

Ignorant of our history, these immigrants of African descent pass judgment:
“African-Americans”, they say, “are lazy, cynical, always looking for a hand-out.” They
point to themselves as proof of the American dream come true. Denying the role of race, they mouth the prejudices of white immigrants in blackface. “Forget racism, history, the brutalization of the African-American psyche from the middle passage on down”, they holler. “America is a nation of immigrants, and we are just like the Irish, Polish, Japanese, and Jews who have come here.” They conveniently forget that
African-Americans, unlike them, unlike any other immigrants, did not come here
voluntarily; we are, all of us, children of slaves".

Are you kidding??? People here go to Dominica almost every weekend! There's a ferry from a town near here and the fare is small change with all sorts of fun goings on! There are small planes from San Juan and the fare again is peanuts and a half hour ride. The monetary exchange over there is fabulous, so you can stay at a good hotel and with excellent service! People here cross over all the time! :)

Wow, you guys must have absolutely no intelligence or acquired any skills during your lifetime to be making 10 dollars an hour at your age. You can get that as a entry level laborer or file clerk anywhere, what in the heck have you been doing all these years?

Seriously, with your logic, if everyone suddenly is poor, then who will be the enemy and where will things come from? This means you can never open a business and reap the rewards of your profit, nor save to much or anything similar, the state will ensure what you have is distributed. I was just giving Mac credit for stating part of our problem.

In part it is human ego along with human greed coupled with a system that reinforces it that has us in the social/political/dilemna that many in the world find themselves in.

Anon 3:31 - yes there are seminaries in Minnesota. No Michelle Bachman has no black foster kids. And no I wouldn't be voting for Michelle Bachman for anything. And I don't know about the black/white marriage thing. There is a perception that interacial marriage between the two is more common here but last I actually saw stats on it a few other places had MN beat, I think Seattle or the state of Washington was no.1.

But anyway LOL you are clearly funny, I don't care about any of this one way or another. And Bachman is a sign of the times. One doesn't have to be sharp to talk about representing the US working class (well in reality the ruling class).

    The New York Post:

Hey buddy, can you spare a square?

The city is so hard up for cash that it’s rationing toilet paper in women’s public restrooms — to the point where bathroom attendants are doling out a few measly squares per patron — along the world-famous Coney Island boardwalk.

The Post witnessed stone-faced Parks Department employees leave toilet-paper dispensers empty last week and instead force astonished female beachgoers to form “ration lines” in the bathrooms.

Regina Ballone, 25, of Brooklyn visited a boardwalk bathroom at West 16th Street Wednesday and was “grossed out” at the thought of someone else handling her toilet paper.

“Never in my life have I experienced anything like this,” she said. “I walked toward a stall, and a bathroom attendant stopped me by shouting, ‘Hey, mami! There’s no toilet paper here,’ and she whipped out a big roll for me to grab some.”

Beachgoers also have been forced to line up for their paltry allotment of the city’s cheap, single-ply toilet paper at the boardwalk’s other women’s restroom at Stillwell Avenue.

Benedikte Friis and Ann Damgaard, both 22, from Denmark, said they enjoyed visiting Coney Island last week — except when it came to the bathrooms.

“It’s very weird that someone decides how much paper you get because they don’t know what situation you’re in,” said Friis, 22, laughing in disbelief. “You might need more!”

No anon this does not sound familiar. Actually it is you that has taken something and made it simple.

A fair society is just that a fair society. You are being simple by pretending to think that one can't buy and sell fairly or that a business can not more fairly distribute its profits among those who helped create them in the first place.

And only the small minded and visionless can't envision a world in which more of their fellow beings can sharely freely in.

Now I am out,I am going to enjoy my holiday. Having debates with those who are myopic in vision and convinced that the way things are, is either right or justice or the way that they always should be, is just not my idea of having fun.

Socialism, that precisely what this is. The average person will have rationed squares of paper, while the liberal elites will have all the luxuries. Kinda like today, politicians are filthy rich, yet they play class warfare trying to teach the usefull idiots that a person who has earned a good living is to be hated instead of emulated and admired.

Funny, the president hasn't said a peep today about this great nations anniversary. I wonder if he will now that his golf game was cancelled due to rain and it's too late to schedule another fundraiser.

How true it is! I agree that AAs are on their way out...but the black immigrants today are taking their place, simply because immigrants(black, brown and white) are of the same mindset regarding AAs as you have quoted:

"“African-Americans”, they say, “are lazy, cynical, always looking for a hand-out.” They

Let's face it. We as a race of AAs have no support from other immigrants with black skin, or anyone for that matter. Furthermore, I don't see anyone who really cares what happens to AAs--including ourselves!

    Happy crazy 4th of July!

"The apologists for capitalism maintain that man is a selfish, greedy animal that can only be motivated by selfish individual gain. As Socialists, we challenge this assumption since we believe that man is motivated to work not only to satisfy the base needs for himself and family, but just importantly to satisfy the fundamental need for creative self expression. This is the quality that separates man from beasts. It is the driving force in man that Socialism seeks to mobilise in the national interest. The economy is organized to serve the interest of good social relations and human development."

  62. Since there are people doubting the fact that Fred Douglass was married to a ww, here are the facts:

    1) his FIRST wife was a free-born black woman. She died in 1882.

    2) his SECOND wife was indeed white and a descendant of John & Priscilla Alden, of the Mayflower.

So basically, yeah, during the apex of his political life Douglass went about as white as white can get. Fred Douglass today couldn't get a whiff of Mayflower stock.
