SB-1070

Arizona State Trooper: Sir, do you know why I pulled you over?
Field Negro: Yes officer, it seems that I was speeding.
AST: You have Pennsylvania license plates, what are you doing in Arizona?
FN: I was just passing through, officer. I am on my way to California to see a former child star named Lark Voorhies.
AST: Is that reggae music I hear coming from your vehicle?
FN: Yes officer, I am playing Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers.
AST: You haven't been smoking that Marley smoke have you?
FN:  No officer, I never touch the stuff.
AST: Wait, do I detect a slight accent?
FN: Yes.
AST: Are you from Jamaica?
FN: Yes officer, I am.
AST: Are you lawfully present in the United States?
FN:  Yes.
AST: May I see some proof of your legal status in the United States?
FN: Yes officer, I might have something right here in my wallet.....oh wait, my wallet is in my overnight bag, and the bag is in the trunk.
AST: Sir, I am going to have to detain you until we can confirm that you are in this country legally. It's the law here in our state.
FN: But officer, my wallet is in the trunk of my car, if you will....
AST: Sir,just don't make any sudden moves.
FN:  But officer...
AST: Sir, slowly step out of the car and keep your hands where I can see them.
FN:  Officer, this is all a big misunderstanding...
AST: Shut up and put your hands behind your back! You are under arrest.

SB1070 sounds like a bad sci- fi movie, but it's all the rage in Washington as the supremes try to decide if it's cool to profile folks under the pretext of keeping law abiding Americans safe.

I see that my girl Jan Brewer took the trip to Washington. I bet she won't be welcome on Pennsylvania Avenue. The last time she met the president she had her fingers in his grill.

Obviously she is a true believer when it comes to her state's new immigration law.

She is not alone:

"I think that 1070 pretty much takes the handcuffs off of police officers, so that they can do the job that they have already been prescribed by the federal government to do" said Montenegro.

The law passed by a comfortable margin in both houses of the Republican-controlled legislature.

"Here in Arizona we have a lot of problems when it comes to open borders, when it comes to not enforcing federal immigration laws, which causes a lot of chaos in our streets" said Montenegro.

He said people have already left the state as a result of the law and crime is down.

But by how much and why is a matter of debate. Crime in Arizona was trending to a 30-year low before the law was signed by the Governor.

Thousands of illegal immigrants have left the state, according to at least two population studies, but there's no reliable count and it's unknown whether the exit was caused by the law or a sluggish economy."[Source]

The supremes won't have a decision until June.

That gives Flipper two full months to gives us his opinion about the law. Knowing what I know about Flipper; I suspect that he will take about three or four different positions by then.

Oh Boy. Talk about fantasy and fiction and destroying our country.

Officer: Do you know why I stopped you?

    No man :

You were speeding, license and registration please.

    Thank you.

Thats all that will happen you democratic lying fearmongerer.

Whats wrong with stopping illegal immigration? Please explain to me why you and democrats have an issue with enforcing the laws of this country that were designed to protect the interests of those here legally? Why?

Now back to the traffic stop, if you are smoking out the vehicle and you are speeding you probably will have problems.

ID is easy to provide, it is law in many cases and not so many people as you think are idiots thinking that providing a simple ID is so difficult and unbecoming and unfair. Sheez.... If you are a legal immigrant you are required. REQUIRED by law to keep your card on you just like a license. So whats the issue? Too many Obama voters who get signed up by Acorn to vote in jeapordy?

from the previous thread for all to see how Field "himself" treats another brother:

"Field is very partisan. He will say anything and everything full of lies for the benefit of Obama because he is Black. I am Black too and will not vote for Obama who spit on his race."

Field replied, "You are not black.

I am sick of you lying on this board about being a black person.

I am going to give you a black quiz, and I expect an answer within the next 30 minutes. if I don't get it I will know that you are calling every black person you know for the answer.

    Here goes:

"What is the secret hand signal we use to each other when we are in a room full of white people?"

Judging from Field's question, he 'really' thinks I am White. He really knows how to hurt a brother. Field has been refusing to acknowledge me as Black for years and I am getting sick and tired of that.

Anyway, to answer your stupid question there is NO secret handshake fool. We might nod to each other but that depends on the characters of the two Negroes. If one is a jigger, he isn't even going to acknowledge the existence of another brother in the room...

You have been acting that way to me-- a devoted but depressed Negro to his race. You treat me worse than the brothers treat gays in the neighborhood. Why do you want to come down on me like that?

Hell, if KID can say post here, anybody can. BTW, what happened to KID? are you moderating his comments too?

I sincerely hope you are not giving in to totally sanitizing your comment section at the expense of the 1st Amendment?

Lets see.....asking someone if they are here legally is a violation of their civil rights?

In a town where there is a huge problem with illegal immigrants involving increased crime, including murder, you have a problem with police being allowed to ask someone if they are here illegally only after they have already done something (else)illegal?

Are not the police tasked with enforcing the law and keeping the public safe?

The only reason to oppose this law is because you oppose any restrictions on immigration.

You don't get civil liberties when you are an alien who has invaded the country to steal its resources illegally and send a large portion of those tax payer reaped resources back to Mexico who really enjoys a windfall.
Anyone else will have an id. As all responsible law abiding adults who are NOT borderline retarded needs special help citizens currently possess.

Or as a Liberal you can decide, with our being broke and democrats refusing to become adults and do their job and produce a budget and manage expenses, we can no longer afford to feed the world and non working americans. So you decide, Mexicans or Black Americans - make a choice, be an adult and stop being a liberal.

  17. Field, do you ever get nostalgic for the days when the wingnuts obsessed about the evils of requiring every citizen to carry an ID, back when they didn't want states to coordinate drivers' license databases or anyone to have to have photo ID because that was an unconstitutional violation of privacy? I wonder how some of the trolls will feel about being asked to prove their citizenship if/when it happens to them? My sister had the experience in Alabama of being told her Michigan-issued birth certificate didn't qualify as proof of U.S. citizenship, so what makes any of the anti-immigrant foamers think they're magically immune to getting cuffed and hauled off to jail if some local Barney Fife decides he doesn't like their accent?

According to Obama's Department of Homeland Security, that's who Big Sis is worried about - Tea partier types. They've declared the war on terror "over", and are now going to focus their attention on white military vets over 30 with American flag stickers on their cars who have professed a belief in their 2nd ammendment rights.

They know who their enemies are. Jamaicans need not worry as long as you don't wave any American flags or say something positive about a Republican. You should be fine.

History reveals two curious details about Queen Charlotte consort to George III: first, her official coronation portrait shows a woman with distinct mulatto features; second, Baron Stockmar, physician and advisor to her granddaughter Queen Victoria, describes her in his memoir this way:

“She had a true Mulatto face.”

Jonathan Haidt has shown that most liberals are simply people who only care about care/harm and fairness, while discounting loyalty, respect for authority, and purity/sanctity. For liberals there are no transcendent moral values, only utility and fairness.

Furthermore, other scholars have found that most people tend to rely less on those latter three moral foundations when they are comfortable and safe. Which means that liberalism is the natural and spontaneous result of living in a safe and prosperous society.

Haidt has also found that liberals can’t even understand loyalty, respect for authority and purity/sanctity. So they tend to think their political opponents are just being massive dicks.

The cycle completes itself when liberal policies destroy safety and prosperity, and people once again turn to moral values.

Prepare for a Great Awakening, Field Negro. The times they are a changing.

That's Pastor Neimoeller's "selfish altruism" postulate. I've preached it my entire life, and lived long enough to see it's truth manifest. We American whites have doomed our posterity to the regimes built to control people of color by our, at best, silent acceptance of compound generations of white privilege. God have mercy on them.

Oh yeah, without Kagan (recused, she worked the case as Sol-Gen) sitting on 1070, a confounding 4/4 split leaving the statute standing is the best possible scenario. 5/3 with the same effect is the most likely outcome. Kennedy hated those "90s 4-4-1, 3,3,3, etc, indecisive splits on abortion and other cases; he thought they were worse than making the wrong decision because of their confounding effect. That's why he aligns with the con majority so much now; he'd rather be wrong than indecisive.

  28. Washington Post…

In national polls, there have consistently been more supporters than opponents of the Arizona law, with the latest polls showing higher support than at any point since its passage. More than two-thirds of registered voters (68 percent) approved of the law in an April Quinnipiac poll, while only about a quarter disapproved (27 percent). Voters backed the law by a slimmer 51 to 31 percent margin in Quinnipiac’s earliest gauge, which did not specify that the law requires police to verify some people’s legal status. The law has received at least 60 percent support in every public poll this year.

The law’s key provisions also enjoy wide public support. In a May 2010 Pew poll taken just after the law was passed, 73 percent approved of the law’s requirement that people produce documents verifying their legal status, 67 percent approved of allowing the police to detain people who cannot do so and 62 percent approved of allowing police to question anyone they suspect is in the country illegally.

Support for the law is high even as most Americans acknowledge it might lead to discrimination. More than half the public — 54 percent — said the Arizona law would lead to discrimination against Hispanics in a 2010 CNN/ORC poll, including 69 percent of African Americans and 74 percent of Hispanics. Whites divided evenly on whether the law would lead to discrimination.

One reason for such wide support may be the broad sentiment that the U.S. government is not doing enough to keep illegal immigrants from coming into the country. Three-quarters of Americans said this in a 2010 Washington Post-ABC News poll, and at least as many said so in polls back to 2005. It’s unclear whether this attitude will weaken in the wake of recent data showing the rate of immigration has slowed to a standstill in recent years, with just as many Mexicans leaving the United States as immigrating to it.

The law also has been popular in Arizona, and a political winner for Republicans. Fully 68 percent of voters in the 2010 gubernatorial race favored the law according to network exit polls — 53 percent strongly — and these voters supported Gov. Jan Brewer’s reelection by a more than a three-to-one margin. She beat her opponent by double digits.

Brewer doesn't give a wrinkly crone's gluteus about the worries of working-class citizens that the illegals will undercut the wage scale. She promotes the arrest of Latinos to suppress the minority vote.
It might help to see who are her ardent supporters in time and money.

Wingnuts are accurate in their fear that illegal immigrants, who are equally as unskilled as wingnuts, will work for less...and will actually do the task with far less whine and posturing.

Keep tellerating the myth of the lazy, shiftless Liberal. Or that Obama is Socialist. We'll correct your error when we cease laughing at you.
Didn't the snickers at your behaviors and pronouncements give you-all a clew when you were in Elementary School?
Or did it make you hold to your religion and guns even tighter?

  32. Really Kingnut? You link a column from the ultra conservative NY Post that agrees with your position as proof of your position? Fact is the term "war on terror" is silly as terror is not a concrete opponent but an idea. Drone attacks have increased and the number one terrorist was caught by this administration so are you saying they are not serious about terrorism? Just because you call a rose a Volkswagen does it mean you can drive it? Conservatives are not only adverse to facts they are repulsed by logic.
