The suppression push.

I went to see "Flight" with Denzel Washington yesterday. Mrs. Field and I agree that it was a good movie, and Denzel might actually get an Oscar call for his role. (Spoiler alert!) Mrs. Field didn’t like the fact that her boy made his first interracial screen kiss. You sisters, I swear….

Anywhoo, on to more serious things. Once again the politricksters in the state of Ohio seem to be up to no good. This is worth watching because Ohio is where the rubber could meet the road come November 6th.

"With the presidential election happening in just four days, the battleground state of Ohio is once again a major piece of the election puzzle. Already a hotbed for controversial moves and measures concerning the voting rights of its citizens, the “Buckeye State” finds itself on the map again after Republican Secretary of State, Jon Husted, acknowledged that a data glitch could have an effect on thousands of voters ahead of November 6, wrote the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

33,000 updated registration records were felled by a glitch triggered by “change-of-address” records and were resent by Husted’s office to local election officials. Voter rights advocates contend that thousands of absentee-ballot requests may have been incorrectly rejected in Ohio due to the software snafu between the secretary of state offices and the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The Columbus Dispatch reports that county election boards did not have current addresses for a number of registrants.

Initially, up to 100,000 notifications of changed addresses from the bureau’s website did not make their way to the secretary of state’s offices. In just a year’s time, motor vehicles have been sharing its records with Husted’s offices in order to keep a correct tally of registered voters. The glitch was immediately discovered, with the majority of the group able to be processed. The remaining 33,000 records are said to be undergoing process, and the state’s election board promises that there will be enough time to power through the erroneous data.
In related news, a recent ruling in Ohio is especially troubling; this after United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit judges stayed an order that may disenfranchise voters who were directed incorrectly by poll workers to vote in the wrong precincts this disallowing their ballots to be counted. The Bush-appointed panel of conservative judges ruled that it was the voters’

responsibility to know the correct precinct and puts too much of an onus on poll workers. An appeal must be legally heard but it is possible that with less than a week before Election Day, nothing will be done. " [Source]

Here in America, the NAACP has asked for European election monitors to come watch for possible voter suppression going on in some places. Of course this does not sit well with certain people.

"United Nations monitors have no right or jurisdiction whatsoever to intrude upon the sanctity or integrity of the commonwealth's election process," Metcalfe, lead sponsor of the voter-ID legislation, said in a letter to Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele.
From the News Desk
Aichele's spokesman, Ron Ruman, said decisions about who gets access to polling places was up to county judges of elections.

"Counties run elections in Pennsylvania," Ruman said. "We have nothing to hide and we are proud of the elections process." [Source]

Oh yes, this is the same Carol Aichele who did not know what the voter ID law says in her own state. Nice.

Over 300 of my brethren in the legal profession will be spread out over Philly as volunteers, and the dems will have over 2,500 on the ground all over Pistolvania. I am sure that the republicans will be doing the same thing.

Everyone remembers Gore v. Bush, and no one wants to see a repeat.

Personally, I couldn't agree more.

Apparently, black people can't negotiate the intricacies of the voting process, what with having to know where you live and have a picture ID - it's all just too complicated.

Maybe they should just leave the voting to the competent adults.

  3. Well Field, the hubby and I were going to see 'Flight' and will still probably do so. I was intrigued by the protests written on line against this movie. He was described as a boozer, a wife beater, adulterer, arrogant and stupid when it came to listening to legal advice.

Others such as yourself are saying that it was an Oscar winning performance. He's had some worthy Oscar performances in the past as in 'Malcolm X' and 'Glory' for instance, however, Oscar (academy) couldn't see it.

Yet, when he played a scumbag, rogue and terrorizing cop; he won.
Now if he's portraying a exceptionally troubled pilot who did an extraordinary feat that save lives...he may this time get a nod and a wink from the academy. I find this amazing and maybe what's going on with the haters here...is that it's a tiresome and worrisome phenom. Notwithstanding;that one of most gifted actors we've seen in a long time is at the controls..so to be speak.

BTW: When I hear folks emphatically go on that he's not just a 'black actor'...he's an actor who is a human being. Well black people ARE human beings. Word to Idris Elba, another heartthrob among black women for he's stated that if he gets the James Bond role...he doesn't want to be the black James Bond just James Bond. It's o.k. Mr. Elba, for I'm sure there are black men involved in espionage these days.

The second thing, we're going to change the nature of the electorate, and you're not seeing it reflected in the polls. And the third thing is, the only poll that counts is Election Day. When you hear those things, you know you're about to lose," - Matthew Dowd, Republican political strategist 11/4/12.

Wow. The latest reports here in NY City are declaring Obama's FEMA just as crappy as the FEMA serving the hapless victims of Katrina.

So even when Obama has a clear and well defined obligation to ensure the adequate functioning of an organization charged with swinging into action after storms, he can't get it done.

Nothing this clown president has touched works. He's fumbled and bumbled and bungled for four years.

So you know if ObamaCare kicks in, it will cause a huge backfire in the economy.

Re: "Flight" - thanks for the heads up. I don't watch implausible flicks which feature a Magical Negro. Now that it also promotes interracial relationships, I definitely won't be wasting my time. Rather than watch Chris Rock glorify another interracial relationship in Two Days in NY, I used the time productively to catch up on some much needed rest on my flight.

But thanks for the heads up about concerns about voter suppression. I am confident that the Obama cadre has more than enough outright fraud planned to make up any deficit from this so-called "suppression". Democratic voters are famous for voting multiple times, even from the grave.

Pollworker errors effect everyone. So take that drivel and shove it.

Field, you can tell how important Ohio and Hamilton county is by who came through yesterday. Fishburne, Jesse, Stevie Wonder, and the President, who had 16,000 at UC. I know, I was there and met The President.

Those of us who don't believe in Unicorns already knew Obama lied about Benghazi during the debate. Now there is evidence as well as clarity of the MSM coverup. Wonder why they edited this out of the 60 minutes interview?

"CBS Releases New Portions Of 9/12 Obama Interview Where He Refuses To Call Benghazi A Terror Attack"

KROFT: Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya Attack, do you believe that this was a terrorism attack?

OBAMA: Well it’s too early to tell exactly how this came about, what group was involved, but obviously it was an attack on Americans. And we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sure that we bring these folks to justice, one way or the other.

KROFT: It’s been described as a mob action, but there are reports that they were very heavily armed with grenades, that doesn’t sound like your normal demonstration.

OBAMA: As I said, we’re still investigating exactly what happened, I don’t want to jump the gun on this. But your right that this is not a situation that was exactly the same as what happened in Egypt. And my suspicion is there are folks involved in this. Who were looking to target Americans from the start. So we’re gonna make sure that our first priority is to get our folks out safe, make sure our embassies are secured around the world and then we are going to go after those folks who carried this out.

Flight was an excellent movie! It will keep your attention and intrigue. Denzel Washington as well as ALL of the other actors was superb. It certainly will get several mentions at the Academy Awards.

Some of you FN Negroes are so far behind in terms of interracial relationships that seeing Denzel be intimate with a beautiful white woman makes you twist and cringe inside. The only other group of people who can't stand to see a black and white relationship are trailer park stormfront people. In other words, you are archaic and racist and contribute to racism in America. You really need to get over yourselves and your sick opinions that Denzel should be restricted to acting with actors that YOU approve of.

Take a look at your own contaminated hearts instead of criticizing and limiting Denzel's professional career.

I swear, it's depressing and a bitch to be Black in America AMONG Blacks AND Whites. Both are the biggest racists on the planet. They just don't know it because they are so busy calling the other "racists" that they can't see themselves.

If you can put your racist mind 'out' of your mind you will enjoy "Flight" as a worthwhile movie about an alcoholic pilot who is in 'flight' with a plane and in 'flight' from himself. The characters in the movie will keep you glued to the screen.

Denzel, Don Cheadle, Kelly Reilly(a beautiful British Actress), John Goodman(outstanding in this movie) and other supporting actors played this movie to the hilt.

You folks need to stop being so negative and do something about your depression. Go see a psychiatrist, a psychologist, an ordinary sick therapist...go see SOMEBODY because you need it, esp some of you whining insecure sisters who want to imprison Denzel for your own self-centered needs. That's sick!

Romney’s crowds are building—28,000 in Morrisville, Pa., last night; 30,000 in West Chester, Ohio, Friday It isn’t only a triumph of advance planning: People came, they got through security and waited for hours in the cold. His rallies look like rallies now, not enactments. In some new way he’s caught his stride. He looks happy and grateful. His closing speech has been positive, future-looking, sweetly patriotic. His closing ads are sharp—the one about what’s going on at the rallies is moving.

There is no denying the Republicans have the passion now, the enthusiasm. The Democrats do not. Independents are breaking for Romney. And there’s the thing about the yard signs. In Florida a few weeks ago I saw Romney signs, not Obama ones. From Ohio I hear the same. From tony Northwest Washington, D.C., I hear the same.

Is it possible this whole thing is playing out before our eyes and we’re not really noticing because we’re too busy looking at data on paper instead of what’s in front of us? Maybe that’s the real distortion of the polls this year: They left us discounting the world around us.

And there is Obama, out there seeming tired and wan, showing up through sheer self discipline. A few weeks ago I saw the president and the governor at the Al Smith dinner, and both were beautiful specimens in their white ties and tails, and both worked the dais. But sitting there listening to the jokes and speeches, the archbishop of New York sitting between them, Obama looked like a young challenger—flinty, not so comfortable. He was distracted, and his smiles seemed forced. He looked like a man who’d just seen some bad internal polling. Romney? Expansive, hilarious, self-spoofing, with a few jokes of finely calibrated meanness that were just perfect for the crowd. He looked like a president. He looked like someone who’d just seen good internals.

Of all people, Obama would know if he is in trouble. When it comes to national presidential races, he is a finely tuned political instrument: He read the field perfectly in 2008. He would know if he’s losing now, and it would explain his joylessness on the stump. He is out there doing what he has to to fight the fight. But he’s still trying to fire up the base when he ought to be wooing the center and speaking their calm centrist talk. His crowds haven’t been big. His people have struggled to fill various venues. This must hurt the president after the trememdous, stupendous crowds of ’08. “Voting’s the best revenge”—revenge against who, and for what? This is not a man who feels himself on the verge of a grand victory. His campaign doesn’t seem president-sized. It is small and sad and lost, driven by formidable will and zero joy.

I suspect both Romney and Obama have a sense of what’s coming, and it’s part of why Romney looks so peaceful and Obama so roiled.

ditto for het sistas and their men

Whenever the alcoholic pilot played by Washington would reach for a bottle after swearing off booze, for instance, someone in the audience would have to warn him. “No, Denzel, don’t do it!” And when he’d take a drink anyway, someone had to give voice to the communal disappointment. “Oh, Jesus, no he didn’t.”

The kiss, on the other hand, got no reaction at all. Just a mood-shifting silence, as if the theater had suddenly lost cabin pressure and there wasn’t enough air left to even let out a sigh.

    Oh, Jesus, yes he did.

There was a long-standing belief that the reason Washington did so few interracial romantic scenes was not to offend black women, who are his core audience and greatest admirers.

Kelly Lynch, a white actress who starred with Washington in “Virtuosity” in 1995, reportedly gave a different reason during an interview with the A.V. Club in October.

“He said, ‘You know what, Kelly? I hate to say it, but, you know, white men bring women to movies, and they don’t want to watch a black man with their woman,’ ” she said.

    Go Mitt!!!!

Watch foolish free cell phone/ebt card loving masochistic Hobama Nazis go wild!!!!

Is President Obama willing to incite civil unrest to win re-election? As we have all been encouraged to wear our dog-whistle decoders these days, one can hardly be blamed for wondering. Worse yet, we know the answer. He is already doing it.

It was so easy in the past. Swept along on a wave of adulation and enthusiasm, protected by leftist media and academia, and helped out when necessary by an Axelrod-arranged scandal or two, Obama has barely had to lift a finger to gain political office and to climb the ladder. Authoritarians do not understand why one should have to do so.

So he is angry. And this anger has become central to his campaign strategy. The fear he is seeking to inculcate among his base has an even uglier flip-side. The Obama campaign is attempting to cast Romney and his supporters not as people with the wrong ideas, but as The Enemy. In this circumstance, fear can easily give way to extreme outrage -- and perhaps to violence and intimidation. This is particularly true when the target audience of this fear-inducing invective is ignorant, emotion-driven, and dominated in its thinking by entitlement greed, rather than by considerations of right and wrong.

Could Obama really be reduced to attempting to win re-election through mob protests and intimidation -- i.e., through a climate of fear?

Let us examine the broad facts. According to the recent polls, most of which have been conducted by organizations sympathetic to Obama, Romney appears to be on his way to victory. Obama's policy record is insupportable on the basis of its results, and his campaign knows it. His one ace in the hole, his alleged effectiveness in the Middle East, has been exposed once and for all as a disastrous lie. And his opponent's past seems to be scandal-free, thus eliminating the one major comeback technique his inner circle has shown any past skill in executing.

This lie, with all its resulting risk to human safety, was apparently judged to be worth it simply in order to shield Obama's re-election campaign from harm.

Benghazi teaches us that Obama is willing to risk inciting civil unrest abroad for the sake of protecting his re-election hopes. Is he willing to take the same risk at home?

One must hope that the harsh realities of life in Obama's America have dulled the enthusiasm of even his most ardent supporters, and his "new era of civility" --

  31. Electoral forcasts from right leaning Real Clear Politics, left Leaning Polltracker and Nate Silver's wonky 538 converged over the weekend to a consensus slight Obama lead in the popular vote (.7, 1, 1.5) and 300ish electoral votes (303, 303, 307). Gallup's numbers now match the packs in favor of Obama leaving only the highly partisan Rassmussen alone of the 12 national tracking polls with Romney in the lead.

What passes for an intelligentsia on the right (George will, Michael Barrone, Newt Gingrich) accordingly forecast Romney electoral landslides of 350ish and popular vote leads of about 5%.

To say that someone is going to be "disappointed" is at least the understatement of the year. One side in our sharply and closely divided land, relying on objective reality and math expects one result, the other, relying on hunches, wishful thinking, and intuitive "unskewing" of the polls, it's diametric opposite.

Of such parents are rebellions born. The tklanners started out armed and pissed off; this will push many of them over the edge. First the loners, then later the joiners. Of course there'll be full blown tinfoil hat coverage on hate radio and faux tv to stoke it. I expect the next 4 years to be far far worse than the last 4 on that front: something like a full on institutional delegitimization campaign led by the GOP, especially in the GOP ruled states.

This has more the feel of 1860 than any modern election.

The fun begins in about 12 hours, and it's sure to last till late into the night. Maybe a lot longer.

If Obama wins, what will he do in a second term?

First things first. He'll get himself on the George Zimmerman/Trayvon jury. It oughta be fun with Obama in the jury room till someone mentions the embassy in Libya.

However, since everyone on the jury will be black, they won't worry a lot about some dead white guys in Libya who shouldna' been messin with those moose-limbs.

Anyway, sounds like a movie. Twelve Angry Negroes.

Before they come out of the jury room with that guilty of everything verdict, Obama'll have them worked into a furious rage over reparations.

He'll talk about making the sun shine and the wind blow and how that energy is just there for the taking, waiting for everyone to just reach up and grab it. Free as it is.

Then telling them it's the evil whites who make them pay for sunshine and warm breezes.

He might even tell them they can all be like Denzel with the drinking and wife beating and getting a free airplane to fly around.

Personally watched the attack real time in the situation room and personally ordered all forces, drones, aircraft stand down for the seven hour attack. Then tried to sell the American public that it was all their fault because they weren't considerate enough of the religion of blow you to pieces and arrested some obscure man who made an obscure video as coverup.

Oh and he did try to push the tape and DID not say it was a terrorist attack. You were a fool and a liar and this has proven it.

Screw you and the camel you rode in on Achmed.

Facts? Wingnuts do not believe in facts.

Field - repeating opinions that have been disproved in the real world doesn't make them facts. If it did liberal run cities would be utopias, but they are far from that as we and anyone alive knows.

To say that someone is going to be "disappointed" is at least the understatement of the year.
    -----------

The only thing that would make Obama's loss any better would be to have a live video feed on Whitey when MSNBC calls the race for Romney.

    OMFG.
