"This is like a war zone", and more ghetto tours.

I have to start this post by saying that my thoughts go out to the people of Oklahoma after those massive storms hit them today. Twisters, my friends, are no joke. They can do some serious damage.

I am just hearing that several students who were trapped in an elementary school were pulled out alive. I can't imagine what the parents of the children who are still missing their children are going through. Some of those parents are trying hard to get to their children but are being held back.

It is times like these that we realize we need the federal government. Hopefully those folks will get all the assistance they need in a timely fashion.

I just saw some videos of the area of devastation again and does in fact look like a war zone. Just wow!

Finally, as our hearts go out to the people of Oklahoma, foreign tourists are invading the Bronx to see what a real American ghetto looks like.

"Foreigners, who are looking to witness from a safe distance, what a “real ghetto” looks like are paying $45 a pop to take a bus tour through the Bronx, and borough politicos are up in arms, according to the New York Post.

Real Bronx Tours are taking mainly White Europeans and Australians on a tour of the Bronx with stops at for photo ops at a food-pantry line, “pickpocket” park, and housing projects.

According to an unnamed patron on the tour, one of the guides, Lynn Battaglia (pictured), from Pittsburgh, poked fun at impoverished areas, describing the South Bronx, in particular, as a crime-ridden borough infested with poverty and violence, which has plagued the area since the 1970s.

At one point during the tour, Battaglia allegedly told the tourists in front of pantry line, “I don’t know what that line’s about, but every Wednesday we see it,” Battaglia told the tourists. “We see them go in with empty carts, and we see them come out with carts full.” [Source]

I have blogged about these types of tours before; this type of thing is nothing new. People will always profit from the suffering of others. It's one of our many flaws as human beings.

Hopefully the good in the human spirit will come out in Oklahoma over the next few days.

  1. Capitalism at its finest. Blah people have always been looked at from a distance as not quite like "them" so it was only a matter of time before our neighborhood became petting zoos.

Well, on the weather tip we started out pretty benign but this weekend mother nature showed he ass. Remember folks buy a weather radio, it may save your life. Pass it on.

Hey field, check out what our government did to this woman:

    http://minx.cc/?post=340166

That is some serious shit. It wasn't just the IRS in her case, but also the FBI, OSHA and the ATF. What would you say if a Republican administration had done this to someone?

American democracy has functioned as two party system for centuries. While often acrimonious, it has always been accepted (even after the Civil War) that each party would play within the rules, taking their turns in power, but accepting the legitimate right of a opposition to exist.

These scandals now coming to light illustrate something new: The use of the temporary access to power to permanently destroy political opposition. Each new revelation bolsters the belief that the administration has already done precisely what the Republicans don't want to do: Gone for the kill.

Republicans love roasting democrats over anything they can, but they don't want to deal with this. This runs too deep, this exposes something too serious to gloss over. If too much comes out, they will be forced to address it in a serious legal manner. They know they do not have the power to assert the law against a President whose party controls the Senate and who retains a sizeable level of support that will not affected by any revelations of misconduct.

The structures of the Republic were designed to make stark choices unnecessary. Permanent power is a chalice no one should want to drink from. Once that cup is tasted something very wicked this way comes.

Democrats have decided to put an end to the American political system. No more sharing power. The model for the one party state is California, where importing millions of third world peasants has resulted in a permanent democrat electoral majority (how's that working out for black people in Oakland, Granny?)

The revelations about the corruption and abuses of power within in the Obama administration has shown one thing very clearly: Obama has not taken care that the laws of the United States be faithfully executed.

Simple math will show that Obama will not be impeached and convicted. In fact trying to do so is folly. He will become a martyr to the left and his ultimate acquittal will only vindicate his history of abuse.

But this abuse of power is aimed straight at the heart of the American model of government.

So how is this resolved in a way that makes the democrats back away from their offensive to topple the Constitutional republic, yet leaves them in power? I know how you despise Republicans, but do you really want to live in a one-party state?

I want to hear what Pat Robertson has to say about this devastation, and 'why' it happened to those folks in Oklahoma. And where are the Black folks in this tragedy? Oh, I forgot. In the OK state, they don't count...only the master does.

Field, I am surprised you aren't chasing the big R in Oklahoma about the media ignoring the suffering of Blacks in this tragedy. Oh, that's right, I forgot... After the Obama speech at Morehouse College, you are a changed man.

alpha tango, you need to ask that question to someone that lives in Oakland.

Furthermore, the Republicans abuse power constantly and persistently. Cheney, Bush, Nixon, and Reagan were the kings of abusing power.

Btw, stop trying to save face and just admit that those so-called scandals were not scandals at all and just a bunch of BS, which the Republican party is full of these days.

My prayers go out to all. It's not easy to recover from a natural disaster like that.

Tornados are particularly deadly because same as earthquakes, they give no warning.

Which is why they have the sirens in tornado country, but often times that's not fast enough either.

Granny, why don't you care when those in the government so callously abuse its power?

I believe that everyone should care because what we’re seeing now is a new type of scandal in American history, and the biggest crime a sitting administration has ever committed against the American people.

Bengazi is very serious. Tapping the AP reporters is very serious. Tracking the movements of Fox News reporters is very serious. Ignore all that. The absolute worst scandal that's emerged lately, and the worst administration scandal in American history is the IRS scandal. Why? Because you, the People, became the targets of a comprehensive federal government effort to stifle dissent, one made using the government's overwhelming and disproportionate policing and taxing powers.

All of the other scandals, going back to Andrew Johnson's post-Civil War scandals, Warren G. Harding's 1920s Teapot Dome scandal, Nixon's Watergate, Reagan's Iran-Contra, and Clinton's Oval Office sexcapades have actually been narrowly focused acts of cronyism, garden-variety political chicanery, or personal failings. It's been insider stuff.

The IRS scandal, by contrast, is a direct attack on the American people. Right now, Progressives throughout America are pretending that this scandal doesn't matter: "Obama wasn't involved." "Tea Partiers had it coming because they're all corrupt." "Obama would have won the election anyway." "It was just a coincidence that the only groups that had their applications scrutinized, sometimes for years, were politically conservative. It means nothing that, when one group changed its name to sound Progressive, its application was approved in only three weeks." "This is just a bureaucratic snafu." "It's a few rogue agents in Ohio."

Those who offer these excuses are either morally flawed themselves or delusional idiots.

    This is incredibly serious.

I don't see how anything can change.

The quote from Obama's Morehouse speech that really made me bang my head against the wall was: "as an African American you have to work twice as hard as anyone else if you want to get by." Yeah, because of all those decades Obama had to spend working hard and paying his dues before anyone would take him seriously as a presidential candidate.

Obama is little more white liberal in blackface. An authentic black centrist democrat like the new Philadelphia mayor would never make such patronizing statements to a black audience

Obama is a one-off, just as Kennedy was a one-off. There will never be another Irish Catholic or any other kind of white ethnic president. They got their guy, they got to feel like they were part of the group. Obama has let black people feel like they have arrived, that they are now formally part of the power structure.

But just as Kennedy represented the high water mark for white ethnics- their political influence was greatly diminished in just a few years after his death- Obama may represent the high water mark for blacks. The elite are stampeding over blacks to get Hispanic support tied up.

Well Desert there is some lead time. The storms that spawn tornadoes, especially this time of year are usually super cellular and are wtched closely by the NWS and SPC. The biggest problems are that most people either 1. ignore the warnings issued or 2. they happen at night. For reason number 2 the NWS recommends getting a weather radio so when favorable conditions arise for severe storms you can have some warning and get to shelter.

So it's time for the mask to come off? Time to dispense with the Constitution and get down to some serious police state intimidation?

ABC News visited the IRS Determinations office in Cincinnati, OH, the office that determines eligibility for 501(c)(3) and (4) groups. It has become a security state.

On Thursday morning, after news that Miller was sacked, two ABC News journalists walked into the Peck Federal Building in Cincinnati looking for answers. The newsmen were screened at the door by security. They emptied their pockets as instructed, removed their belts, then went through the metal detectors. We wanted to ask who about made the decisions in the unit and when the profiling started. And whether those decision makers been identified yet.

But the answers – like the people involved – remained elusive.

As we traveled the public hallways of the building – watched over by security cameras – an armed uniformed police officer with the Federal Protective Service followed us. We were looking for a particular office—of someone who would not want to be seen talking to reporters–but chose to bypass it because of our official babysitter.

Asked why we were being escorted in a public building, the officer identified himself as Insp. Mike Finkelstein and said he was only trying to make sure that the newsmen were not a “nuisance.” He brushed aside further questions. The cop said a supervisor would call to explain.

One of the reporters wanted to know if the act of following the journalists was an effort intended to scare off any federal employee who might have considered speaking to the press. That’s sure what it looked like; and, even if that wasn’t the goal, it was the effect.

The supervisor never called to explain. After repeated calls to Washington to obtain an explanation, the Department of Homeland Security eventually called back to tell the ABC reporters that the security guard following them around was proper.

So, the reporters’ calls of inquiry about a Department of the Treasury office were eventually referred over to the Department of Homeland Security. For what?

Is this America anymore, or have we truly been fundamentally transformed into something else?

    No, this is misinformation.

The liberal response to getting caught is always the same, and plays out in their media thusly:

    "This did not happen"

This happened, but everyone does it"

"Everyone might not do it, but what difference does it make?"

"It may make some difference, but prosecution of this issue is worse than the issue"

"We can do what we want because they are evil. Look at that Umbrella. Case closed"

No administration has ever used the IRS in this manner to specifically target and harass people solely on the basis that they were considered a political threat.

One of the many officials in the chain of command was a Bush appointee, but worked for Obama, and donated money to the DNC.

And this abuse of power extended beyond the IRS, and included almost every federal agency, including the FBI, EPA, ATF, and OSHA.

They levied thousands in bogus fines and fees on these people, threatened their businesses and livelihoods, and scared many of them off from exercising their first amendment rights to political expression.

This is orders of magnitude worse than Watergate.

    ReplyDelete
  39. This entire series of scandals should serve to remind us that the purpose of the Office of President of the United States is not to be head of some political party, nor to cheerlead for favored policies, not to block unfavored policies, but to in general be the executive ultimately responsible for day-to-day operations of the United States government. It would seem to be a full-time job.

In choosing to be a super-legislator first and formost more than a Chief Executive, Barack Obama richly deserves the scandals his administration and the United States government is reaping, for he has--at best--let the government to its own devices. At best. I'm not sure I believe that, I think the truth is darker, but that is the best case scenario.

In fact, it could be say to be a misnomer to call Obama's organization an "adminstration", because that implies its focus is on enforcing laws as they are, not as wished or imagined--in other words, adminstering--and I just don't believe that is true. Obama and his folk aren't adminstering, they are "fiating".

It seems that the Jackson precedent of a kingly executive needs to be put back in the bottle, or tyranny will be the ultimate result. Presidents should content themselves with executing laws as they are, and with foreign policy, and let Congress determine the course of America

I really wanted to write about this on my blog but at the moment I do not seem to have access to the new post part.

I've beeb wondering why are all the homes in Oklahoma built of wood? Would it not be sturdier to build out of bricks or concrete?

Here during a hurricane the cement homes are not budged.. Then again I' m sure there are sound reasons for the wood?....

    ReplyDelete
  45. Even if they were made of concrete and brick a F-5 tornado will destroy that structure. In fact that's how tornado strength is measured by how much damage certain structures sustained. Any building would be destroyed by such a beast.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @ Desert:

    PilotX is correct. For once.

You cannot cost effectively build structures that can withstand 200 to 300 mph winds. You would need reinforced concrete bunkers. An average size house built this way would cost over a million dollars.

Tornados happen frequently, but the odds of one ever hitting any one house are very remote. A tornado track is usually fairly narrow, and only extends a few miles on the ground.

The only practical precaution is to build a shelter or reinforced safe room in your house. Even this is a considerable expense, and given the low probability of ever having to use it, many people live with the risk.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous3:27 PM

Thanks Pilot and Okie! I can understand this! We are the same here with the hurricanes

Although my thoughts are that after this a lot of folks will be building something safer. You just have to prepare. I also disagree with the going into the basement idea because the house will fall on you and bury you.

    ReplyDelete
  48. You can build to withstand hurricanes, which rarely reach 150 mph, and you should if you live on the coast, because one will come someday. Just make sure you are above the storm surge level.

For an affair that numerous media outlets will have you believe has been spun out of all proportion, and that it really is the conservatives fault that the IRS was targeting them, it is somewhat ironic that the IRS official who opened up the entire Pandora's box with her targeted apology two weeks ago, and who learned in 2011 about the improper targeting of political groups yet lied under oath to Congress to the contrary, has decided to plead the Fifth and will invoke her right not to testify on Wednesday for fear of self-incrimination, according to her lawyer.

But this would mean that... she may have something to hide? And that would be rather problematic for the media's spin cycle, although we are confident it will take just a few minutes of deep though in the proper channels, before this all too overt admission of guilt is somehow spun as the IRS being the unwitting targets of an aggressive McCarthyesque campaign seeking to discredit the government's impartial tax collector whose only noble purpose is to enable the government to get even bigger.

    Never said that.

"Did you predict O-bomber would veto or sign the NDAA ??

Did you give a prediction on if Too Big to Fail Banks would be prosecuted for mortgage abuses..??

Did you predict that O-Bombers Justice Dept would allow HSBC to settle with a fine for a Drug money laundering case??"

    No, did you?

Not a "theory" of mine genius.

SAFETY STEPS The Red Cross urges everyone to pick a safe room in their household where loved ones and pets can gather, such as a basement, storm cellar or interior room on the lowest floor with no windows. Mobile homes are not safe during tornados. If someone is in a mobile home, they should get to the nearest sturdy building or shelter immediately—do not wait until the tornado is visible. People should also:
    •Know their community’s warning system.
•Prepare for strong winds by removing diseased and damaged limbs from trees.
•Move or secure lawn furniture, trash cans, hanging plants or anything else that can be picked up by the wind and become a projectile.

If someone is caught outdoors, they should seek shelter in a basement, shelter or sturdy building.

  59. Also from the National Weather Service.

    Tornado Safety Rules
    ■ The safest place to be is an underground shelter, basement, or
    safe room.
    ■ If no underground shelter or safe room is available, a small, windowless
interior room or hallway on the lowest level of a sturdy building is the
    safest alternative.
    ■ Mobile homes are not safe during tornadoes. Abandon mobile homes
and go to the nearest sturdy building or shelter immediately.
    ■ If you are caught outdoors, seek shelter in a basement, shelter or sturdy
building. If you cannot quickly walk to a shelter:

    Conservatives are such geniuses.

  60. "that it really is the conservatives fault that the IRS was targeting them"

Well seeing as though the majority or groups applying for tax exempt status were conservative groups doesn't it stand to reason that they would get a majority of the scrutiny? Should the IRS just grant them tax exempt status without investigation? I mean the groups are supposed to have a "social interest" to get that status and aren't conservatives against social welfare? So yes, any person with half a grain of sense would know these groups deserve the scrutiny but we all know the GOP needs dirt on the administration so of course this is going to be elevated to national crisis levels but how many times can these guys cry wolf without the public becoming disinterested?

I agree. Obama won't be 'im-mpeached.' But he might be 'im-peached'. Count on it.

"According to an unnamed patron on the tour, one of the guides, Lynn Battaglia (pictured), from Pittsburgh, poked fun at impoverished areas, describing the South Bronx, in particular, as a crime-ridden borough infested with poverty and violence, which has plagued the area since the 1970s."

That is not poking fun, that is stating a fact.

You and PilotX and probably others like you just can't handle the truth. But you have never been able to face the truth. That's why you folks are in the predicament you are in: black on black crime, poverty, murders, theft, no love for each other, so many children born out of wedlock, lack of education, drugs, alchohol, rage, violence....no one wants to be Black. AND, you have "excuses" that no wants to hear for your hell.

    ReplyDelete
  66. can you handle the truth Field? I'm in a pretty good predicament as far as I can tell. I'd rather be a blah, good looking airline pilot married to a fine sista than an overweight, toothless trailer dwelling white guy anyday of the week and twice on Sundays.
