Last night was election night in the United States of the Koch Brothers, and if it was a football game being played on the dem's home field the fans would have been leaving the stadium by halftime. It was a beat down.
Republicans all over the country kicking up their boots and feeling like they are on top of the world. They now control Congress by even larger numbers and the Senate for the first time in eight years.
Mitch McConnell has declared that he will work with the president with certain limitations of course) and the president was just on television acknowledging the obvious and promising to be a good Negro and work with the GOP to get things done. (Watch it Mr. President, those people are not your friends.) I have a feeling that as soon as they all get back to Washington it will be business as usual with them to show their base who can beat up on you more.
And speaking of the aforementioned Mr. McConnell, dude was actually in a heated race before his opponent--- another wishy washy democrat--- decided that she would run as far away from the president as possible in order to bolster her red state cred. Well how did that work out for you Ms. Grimes?
Here in Pistolvania we sent the republican governor packing. Although he (Corbett) would have lost to my mailman last night if he had decided to run. The guy was that unpopular. (When you have to Photoshop a black person for one of your campaign website you are beyond pathetic.) That was one of the very few bright spots for democrats. To stay with my football analogy; it was just one of a few field goals when they needed a lot of touchdowns.
I would also like to take this time to congratulate Mia Love and Tim Scott. They are two Negroes who ran as republicans and won historic races last night. See field, the GOP folks aren't racist.
Some of the biggest racists in America had Negroes caring for their children. But I digress.
Anyway, Mia has bought in.
“This has nothing do with race. Understand that Utahans have made a statement that they’re not interested in dividing Americans based on race or gender, that they want to make sure that they are electing people who are honest and who have integrity,” Love said. “That’s really what made history here. It’s that Race, gender, had nothing to do with it, principles had everything to do with it.”
.......explained that “there are very few black residents” in Saratoga Springs and reiterated that she “wasn’t elected because of the color of my skin, I wasn’t elected because of my gender.”
“I was elected because of the solutions that I put at the table because I promised I would run a positive issues-oriented campaign and that’s what resonated,” she added". [Source]
See you in Washington, Mia.
Last night was a good night if you love the good collie weed. Oregon, Alaska, and Washington, D.C. decided to take Peter Tosh's advice. The rest of the country can't be too far behind.
It was also a good night if you believe in workers receiving a fair wage for the work that they do. Four conservative states decided that the federal minimum wage is too low and they voted to raise their state's minimum wage higher than the one set by the federal government.
Still, these little victories mean nothing to hard core democrats out there. We are going with the football analogy again. This is like making money at the concession stand but losing the game.
"As president, I have a unique responsibility to try and make this town work," Obama, a Democrat, said at a White House news conference. "So, to everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you".
The town you speak of Mr. President isn't exactly a microcosm of our country. Take a look around you, all you will see in that town are robots who were bought and paid for by well- heeled groups to write legislation the way they want to.
In the United States of Koch Brothers they wouldn't have it any other way.
Grimes didn't just run away from Obama (although she did that, hard). She also just generally tried to be a Republican knock-off, with her "me-too" pro-gun and pro-coal campaign.
ReplyDeleteRecently, Democrats have been pretty good about not attempting this lame strategy, but Grimes is a notable exception. And this election is an evidence as to why it's a terrible idea, even in a red state like Kentucky.
No one was fooled, and Grimes got clobbered, despite the fact that Mitch McConnell is personally about as popular as genital warts.
Please, Tim Scott represents new leadership that will hopefully lead Blacks out of the desert and into the promised land. Remember a Field Negro is in the field because he/she is a dumb ass. You can say the say the same thing about White Democrats. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Abortion barbie getting beat by 20 points?
Good time Charlie getting beat in Florida?
Sam Brownback winning?
Losing the war on wimmins?
Using images of lynching, slavery, the klan, jim crow and HANDS UP! DON'T SHOOT!!1 failed to scare up enough black votes?
Or is it the 70 seats Democrats have lost since the election of Obama?
Hope and change. Obama is the messiah.
It wasn't suppose to be this way.
Tim Scott won because of the same shenanaigans that helped him win the first race. His opponent was a blah woman Democrat. Let's be real, in SC had the Dems nominated a halfway competent white male he would have clobbered Timmy. How did Joyce Dickerson get the nomination? She was what, a city clerk? The US Senate is a serious body so they should have run a mayor, former governor or US congressperson. This can only mean one of two things, the SC Dems are in such disarray this was the best they could do or they secrectly conspired wiith the gop to rig the race as it seemed they did when Timmy ran against Alvin Greene. Really strange.

Really stupid. Tim Scott didn't run against Alvin Greene.
Tim Scott was appointed to fill in for Jim DeMint.
Smart field hands you have here.
Tim Scott was a shoe-in to win.
ReplyDeleteThat is why no A or B list Democrats wanted to run against him.
Blacks are the ones responsible for Alvin Greene. The only things black voters knew about Alvin Greene was
He had s "D" beside his name
He had a black sounding name.
So blacks in SC voted for him.
Republicans had nothing to do with that.
Aw man, just checked because I got CRS. Alvin Greene ran against Jimmy DeMint in 2010 not Timmy.
ReplyDeleteHola! Signor Kinky. Did jou miss me? I think jou did, jou jest don want to say so, no? Just a friendly reminder as I have noticed that you have won the hearts and minds of like thinking individuals on this site. This is embarrassing. Now California is the only state on the west coast where weed isn't legal.
ReplyDeleteAt least we re-elected Barbara Lee again. And we voted to fix the roads and expand public transportation some. Plus we got a new mayor who I don't know much about, so I'll have to wait and see how she does. We also get a $12.25 minimum wage next year, so it could have been worse.
-Doug in Oakland
Yep, we just elected a Republican governor D. I'd move to Cali but I'm afraid of earthquakes. Ha!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely some shenanigans going on in SC. Joyce Dickerson was a city council woman and ran against a county council person and an attorney. Really? This is the best you can do for an open U.S. Senate seat? The SC Democratic party is in need of some serious leadership. You mean to say they couldn't convince a mayor or state legislator to give it a go? Really? Maybe it's the Chicago style pragmatism in me but check me if I'm wrong but here's how I would have tried to win that seat. 1. We know there are some diehard white racist Republicans in SC who would vote for a fence post instead of a N, er I mean African American if it were painted white 2. We know any half profile state Dem would easily beat a city councilwoman in the primary. Thus all you have to do is convince a sitting or former semi-well known white male politician to run for the seat and it's all over except for the touchdown dance. Geez! Shenanigans I say, shenanigans.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely some shenanigans going on in SC. Joyce Dickerson was a city council woman and ran against a county council person and an attorney.
ReplyDeleteForgot to add, in the primary. (gotcha Kinky, you can calm the F down now) Ha!
And here I found my guy.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.scstatehouse.gov/member.php?code=1249999850
J. Yancy McGill, the damned Lieutenant Governor of the state. He looks like a good old boy, was a former mayor and in the state senate. I couldn't miss with this guy. I hope the SC Democratic leader works for free because no one should get paid for such incompetence.
ya know, now that I think about it the Repubs have made a few flubs of their own and should have a couple more senate seats than they currently occupy. Illinois 2004, Deleware in whatever year the witch lady ran, Nevada in whichever year the chicken trading lady ran and in Missouri when the legitimate rape dude ran. I guess the Dems owed them a seat or two and SC seems like a logical choice because who wants to admit they;re from there anyway?
ReplyDeleteElecting some black politicians doesn't mean that the GOP isn't racist. It only means that they believe there are exceptions to the racist stereotypes that they have. Modern day conservative racism is a belief that a majority of a race is bad. If a black person goes around complaining about black people, they love him. They'll vote for him over a white person. There are all kinds of dog whistle ways to do it. "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" types of cliches are complaints about black "welfare queens" to them. Modern day conservative white racists don't think every black person is bad, just most of them.
ReplyDeleteI think a type of racism that used to be more common was a cultural belief in a sort of caste system. Some people held absolutely no animosity toward people of other races, but they believed in a social heiarcy based on race.
You hit the nail on the head, for evidence look at the comment by a resident racist's praise for Tim Scott.

The banjo was yet another African gift to America and the world Field, and it's diatonic resonance a root of Jazz, playing which is its natural and best use.

Good morning Mr. Field. I want to say something aobut the election. I feel as thought the Dems lost because they didn't help the President nor spoke about the good things that he did for this country. He allowed the racist Republicans to control the narrative. They (the Republicans) didn't want to work with the President becuse they wanted to convery the message that he was not doing anything thing for the contry which in fact he was doing somthing. The refused to work with him and them use the narrative to say that he don't want to work with them. It is all a trick, they didn't like the fact that a black man was the President of the United States.

Major LOL... Some of the fields should be writing for Comedy Central. And from the Open Thread, many thanks to FN for the perspective regarding ACA. Still my soul is not quite fed regarding this matter. Want to guess one of the prominent headlines in HuffPost this morning? Our conservative majority with Mitch McConnell at the helm is voicing the "R" word, as in Repeal Obamacare. Already this is a priority item on the agenda.
ReplyDeleteMorning Lestine. Those are very good points.
ReplyDeleteBill, you must have missed the part where I said that I could not comment on the Gaither case.
Again, i am not sure how not mentioning a young lady being happily reunited with her family speaks to some kind of an agenda.
I swear the mind of a wingnut works in strange ways.
@ Ms. Lestine.... Very true what you are saying about the democrats distancing themselves from the several successful initiatives of the Obama Administration.
ReplyDeletePart of this also was due to the president not clearly communicating the positive aspects of his domestic and foreign policies.
With that said, it appears much of the electorate are really upset about the direction of our country.
No disputing the rampant racism and the efforts to disenfranchise citizens because it was more than likely they would vote democrat. Not enough hours in the day to cite every grievance.
Yet we can't ignore the fact voter turn out, especially amongst the young people, is quite dismal when a president's not on the ballot. Many independents voted for conservative candidates. Much of the Latino vote was lost due to immigration reform being shelved.
Finally, a good percentage of black voters supported conservative candidates as well, which does not have to translate to a negative. Shouldn't we also consider the candidate who promotes the greater good regardless of race, gender, party affiliation?
The democrats must learn to win again offereing solid solutions and valuing the folks who elect them.

There's no "if" to it. Mr Obama's continued presence on the political stage poses a distinct problem for the Clintons. Hillary got no separation from him while stumping in Arkansas and both she and Bill were unable to stop the state from becoming totally red. Bad news for her. Even a village idiot like Joe Biden realizes that about his only chance for POTUS is for Mr. Obama to give it away. On the other hand, many of the Dems who were knocked off on Tuesday were moderate leaving more of the hard core leftists in the Democratic Party. They might save him but to what end? But you're right, hold on to you hat. I will make a prediction. Debbie Wasserman Schultz will be gone by the end of the year. If the Clinton's are behind it, then get ready for more blood letting in the Democratic Party.

I think the big thing will be Hillary's health as well as her age. Bill likes the politics but Hillary doesn't have the fire for a long campaign. Unless she's "anointed" she won't make it.
As far as Elizabeth Warren, I'd like nothing better. She'll have to answer the fake Indian charges and that will be just the beginning. She's unelectable, just like Chris Christie or Jeb on the other side of the aisle.
