Lev brings the receipts.

*I watched the Lev Parnas interview on MSNBC last night, and he pretty much said what I thought was going to say: That Donald trump and the rest of his criminal cabal are all a bunch of liars.

The interview was right on time, because the house delivered their articles of impeachment to the senate yesterday. Not surprisingly, he made some pretty damning comments about what the president (and the Vice President)  knew and when they knew it.

Of course, as is to be expected, the trump apologists are already saying that we should not believe our lying ears. trump himself is saying that he doesn't even know the man. But we have seen the *pictures and videos of them together, so trump, once again, is lying through his fake teeth.

The problem is, of course, that this will have no effect on the 50 plus senators who have already decided that they are not going to vote to remove the president. The cowardly republican senators care too much about their political survival and filling their political PACs with trump donor money.

Watching them take an oath to be fair and to honor the Constitution today was surreal, because we all know that they will do no such thing. To his credit, turtle has pretty much admitted that he will not be impartial, and that he will vote to acquit the Orange Mobster.

I already know how this will all end, and it's sad, because the evidence against Donald J. trump is overwhelming. The senate will not vote to remove him,  and we will be stuck with him, at least until November.

Let's face it, the only way we will get rid of Donald J.trump is to vote him out.

Fortunately, we will not have to depend on 67 senators to do that.

  1. If witnesses are called at least the American people can see how corrupt this guy actually is. This is why Nixon had to resign. This will be must watch tv so everyone will see live and direct how corrupt their President is. We will also know the Republican Party is in cahoots. If anyone believes in the rule of law and puts country first 2020 will be a good year for the Dems.

Not if McConnell has his way. He's not agreeing to let CSPAN cameras in for the trial, and proposing a "pen" for the media outside of the hearing room.

Kinda seems like he doesn't want very many people to see or hear what happens in there.

Lev Parnas may be the Carter Page of Michael Cohens, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have any good evidence. Fergus has surrounded himself with goons of that caliber, so all of the witnesses are going to look like clowns when you shine a light on them.

GAO says OMB broke the law at Fergus' direction, so there goes the "no laws were broken" lie.

When the Republican poltroons in the senate acquit Fergus, we have to take their votes and beat them with them in November. Since Pompeo has enraged Fergus and his felons by refusing to run in Kansas, we may get Kobach to run against in an echo of Roy Moore in Alabama.

The day that McConnell loses his majority in the senate will be a good day indeed.

“Starbucks and Whole Foods means....white people!”

In Englewood? No chance. Ain’t no white people taking a stroll to one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city to shop.

If I recall, Whole Foods had to be cajoled into opening a store there, which they are doing as a public service as much as anything. That part of the city is a “food desert” that lacks proper grocery stores, and Whole Foods is experimenting with modifications to their business model to see if they can make a viable version of their store that caters to a lower-income clientele, rather than the rich people they usually serve.

The FBI is under extreme political pressure to manufacture "white supremacist terrorists" in conjunction with a media led campaign, but all they end up with are trivial firearms technicalities.

The most they got was a plot to kill some antifa that was completely concocted by an informant and that the three 19-year old men charged with the crime said for months that they wanted nothing to do with.

“... he is looking at changing the law on bribing foreign officials to make it much easier to bribe foreign officials...”

    Of course Trump is.

In fact, it does put American companies at a disadvantage when we are not allowed to bribe foreign officials in order to secure business deals, while some other countries are free to hand out bribes. We do this because it is the right thing to do, though, even though it does not benefit us.

As you may have noticed, Trump has never been into this whole “doing the right thing” business, so laws requiring us to make sacrifices for the sake of ethical standards just look insane to him.

As you may also have noticed, he thinks US armed service people should be able to do what ever they want and should never be prosecuted for war crimes, going so far as to pardon outright murderers. Same concept.

If Trump had an official motto, it would be the inverse of Google’s:

    “Let’s Be Evil.”

"NBC’s hiring of Chelsea Clinton as a “special correspondent” in its news division was widely recognized as an exercise in corporate cynicism when it was announced in November 2011.

Now a price tag has been hung on that scandal, with Politico’s reporting that Clinton has been paid a salary of $600,000. The network hasn’t confirmed the figure, but it hasn’t denied it either, and responded to Politico’s questions by asserting that it “continues to enjoy a wonderful working relationship with Chelsea, and we are proud of her work.”

It’s that last part that’s particularly head-scratching, for as a news correspondent for NBC, Clinton hasn’t done anything to be proud of. Quite the contrary. The disclosure raises the obvious question of NBC’s goal in giving a person without any measurable journalistic or broadcasting experience or any particular public following a high-profile job and apparently paying her a top-echelon salary.

The answer is equally obvious. Plainly, it was done to curry favor with the Clinton family."

And that's fine. As you point out, that's how the world works.

But what Hunter Biden did is on another level. Leaving out what he did in China, Hunter leveraged his father's position as Vice President to get in on the looting of Ukraine after the CIA engineered a coup in 2014. He was paid millions for access to the highest levels of the US government by a firm owned by a corrupt oligarch. When a prosecutor got too close, his father got the guy fired.

In 1955, Emmett Till was murdered by two white men who were quickly acquitted, making his story memorable for being one of the last examples from a long era of state-excused white-on-black civilian violence over black males hitting on white females.

The story received a lot of coverage at the time, but as one would expect, gradually receded from the forefront of American news coverage.

In 1980, the name “Emmett Till” did not appear in the pages of the New York Times. In 1990 it showed up twice, and in 2000 four times.

From 2004 through 2012, the Times mentioned this old incident an average of nine times per year, and from 2013 to 2016 almost two dozen times per year.

In 2017, “Emmett Till” appeared in 72 different Times articles. And 2018 featured 92 NYT stories about the 63-year-old tragedy. 2019 saw well over 100.

The reason we keep hearing over and over about this Eisenhower-era case is that it’s increasingly a man-bites-dog story. So there must be many examples more recent than 1955, but the white male power structure is keeping them a secret. Or something.

  169. "We all know that you should be in jail for being so stupid."

Even though my friend Jack, who did 23 months in Soledad North for selling a half ounce of weed, said that prison is full of thick-headed idiots, I disagree. Jailing the mentally incompetent has been a disaster ever since the Reagan administration closed all of those mental hospitals and never followed through and replaced them with anything.

Kind of like what the Republicans want to do with healthcare in general.

Prison is not helpful to one's mental health, and they obviously need help.

Misogynist Bernie Sanders lied when he denied saying a woman can't be President.

One of the most powerful attributes of President is great sense of humor. New York times endorsed Amy Klobucher fits the bill:

They endorsed Warren at the same time. And her name is Klobuchar. She would be far better than Fergus, but so would any random rodent my cat killed and dropped on the door-mat. Not that I have anything against her: if she wins the nomination I'll work to get her elected.

  184. The stupid, it burns7:23 PM

    And you know this because?

Because Frances Robles got the info from the Miami PD after the schools PD (a separate entity) didn't get the memo about covering up actual felony crimes and sent info to the city people.  That blew the whole thing wide open.

The Brett Kavanah confirmation and the Clarence Thomas confirmations come to mind.

You say "victims should be believed", unless they're victims of lies like Brett Kavanaugh.  Blasey-Ford couldn't even say whose house the alleged act occurred at and NOBODY else backed her up, but you refuse to admit that she was lying as a political tactic.

Travon Martin wasn't executed. He was shot in self-defense by his victim, who he was on top of and attempting to murder by beating to death.

This is pure bull shit. Provide a source for this opinion if you have one.

Jonathan Goode's testimony in Zimmerman's trial.  This was supported by the testimony of the pathologist:

"Di Maio said Zimmerman had at least six injuries from the struggle: two head lacerations, two wounds to his temples and wounds on his nose and forehead. Those injuries were consistent with having his head banged into a sidewalk, Di Maio said."

Your narrative of the "poor, innocent Trayvon murdered" is the bullshit.

Zimmerman was told by the police dispatcher to back off.

The exact words of the dispatcher are otherwise  Dispatchers are not at the scene and usually aren't sworn officers; they CANNOT give orders.  Transcript of phone call @2:22:

    dispatcher:  "Are you following him?"

    Zimmerman:  "Yeah."

dispatcher:  "Okay, we don't need you to do that."

"We don't need you to do that" is not an order.  It's not even a suggestion.

I KNOW you've seen this before, because I've seen it posted in threads where you commented before (which may be where I got it).  IOW, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU GRANNY?  CAN'T YOU READ?  CAN YOUR EARS NOT HEAR ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT CONFORM WITH YOUR FUCKED-UP WHITE-GUILT NARRATIVE?!

I am simply a person who looks at all the evidence and draws a conclusion based on facts

The. Fuck. You. Do.  Everything you've claimed is dead wrong and contrary to documented fact, fact which has been in front of you for probably YEARS, yet you are still pushing the lies.

You serve the Prince of Lies, Granny (and ditto m from i).  I hope you find your reward with him VERY soon.

Trump Has Made 16,241 False Statements In 3 Years

Washington Post: “Three years after taking the oath of office, President Trump has made more than 16,200 false or misleading claims — a milestone that would have been unthinkable when we first created the Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement he has uttered.”
