X rated racism?

As you all well know, I will chase racism with the best of them, and lord knows that  I have been wearing out my racism track shoes of late. The big R is everywhere. From small Georgia towns, to large Northeastern cities. But sorry folks, my racism chase can only take me so far. I have to draw the line somewhere.

" Although the pornography industry reportedly generated a staggering $10 billion per year at one point, the blue movie biz may be plagued by the age-old looming specter of racism. Based on the accounts of a popular White starlet, the industry’s leaders are older White men who feel that actresses lessen their value when working with Black male actors. 

Aurora Snow, a 12-year veteran, wrote an op-ed last month for “The Daily Beast” explaining the machinations of racism in the business. In the piece, Snow recounts a time where an agent warned her from working with African-American men onscreen.
An excerpt from Snow’s op-ed

When I first got into the adult-film business about 12 years ago, one of the most confusing things my agent asked was whether I “did interracial.” I was completely baffled. So the old man clarified: “Do you do black guys?” I was shocked at what seemed a racist question. As I sat on his dusty couch in a small, smoke-filled office, it suddenly felt like I was in another era: the black-and-white one.

“The Root” hopped in on the debate by bringing into the conversation African-American male performer Lexington Steele, a former stockbroker and one of the most popular adult entertainers ever. His take on the industry’s supposed racist practices supports what Snow wrote, adding that it doesn’t begin with the actresses themselves.

Lexington Steele told “The Root”:

It’s definitely something that exists, and I think it’s something that’s built within the fabric of the industry, because if you look at the individuals that are in positions of authority over some of the white females, the ones governing them are the ones implementing this practice of no interracial. It’s their managers, boyfriend or husband or family members.

It’s just an element of American culture that still exists, and that is the feeling that a white female will be deflowered or soiled, if you will, by doing a scene with a black male. But that does speak to the continued existence of bigotry and racism, and I don’t think porno is unaffected by certain elements of American culture. And quite honestly, adult media is the only major business that allows for the practice of exclusion based upon race.
 

 Steele’s insider observation is of particular interest, considering he exists in a rarefied position as a Black man who is the owner of an adult film company and director. Coupled with the fact he is the only person to win Adult Video News’ (AVN) coveted “Performer Of The Year” award three times, Steele’s take comes with measurable weight." [Source] 

Ahhm, sorry Lex, I am just not fighting the good fight for equality for folks in your business. I think we have other areas that are a little more important in the civil rights pecking order. Besides, I hear that thanks to your "measurable weight", (pun intended) you do what you do with quite a few co-stars of the Caucasian persuasion. Not that I know this personally. Someone happened to tell me after I Googled your name for this post......

Finally, I am glad to hear that O apologized to Kamala Harris. Although honestly, we all seemed to be more worked up over the entire episode than she was. Besides, it seems like she has been looking in O's direction as well:

"Harris, it turns out, once commented on Obama's appearance. The San Jose Mercury News found a 2009 YouTube video in which she says: "He looks and he sounds like a million bucks."

Still, O should understand the historical sensitivities that come with commenting on a woman's looks in such a way. And I am sure that he realized that it was a dumb comment to make publicly. But, as I posted yesterday, it is not something worth dwelling on.

There is no doubt that Ms. Harris is a very well qualified woman. She just happens to be easy on the eyes. A blogger from Philly posting on his blog can say that. The president, on the other hand, not so much.

So you all can stop beating up on my girl Zerlina Maxwell and others who got on O's case now. Let's all just hold hands and move forward.

The president likes the menu.

A couple of months ago I was at a function. This honey on a Robinne Lee tip tapped me on the shoulder and told me that she recognized me and that she is a huge fan of my blog. I thanked her, shook her hand, and asked her to keep reading.

I appreciated the blog love, and, more importantly, the view. She was all that!

But here is the thing; I am a happily married man. I could appreciate her beauty without thinking about anything else.

This brings me to our boy, O. Some folks are up in arms because he declared that Kamala Harris is the "best looking attorney general" in these divided states of America.

Now, let's be honest, that's not like saying that she is the best looking cheerleader in the NBA. "In the land of the blind the one eyed man is King". He said it at a private fundraiser to a few of his wealthy friends. No harm no foul, but O needs to be careful. His opponent in the last election probably lost it because of his 47% comment to a few of his wealthy friends.

Anyway, hopefully he won't get the business from the First Lady. From what I can see I am sure that she, like the lovely Mrs. Field, understands this saying:  "Just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu."

Finally, my man Triple-B over at Kos really has me thinking about heading back to Mandeville with his latest blog post.

"So, remember the nutcase from my previous post earlier today? Apparently he's getting tons of response from people all over the country about his eagerness to go on a killing spree because he doesn't like how our elections work. So I'm watching this guy and...well...just see for yourself:

Now, I don't condone anybody doing anything rash. I do not condone anybody committing any kind of felonies up to and including aggrivated assaults or murders. Unless its necessary.Right now, it is not necessary. I understand that my video was very volatile. You have no idea how many people that sent me emails and texts and call me like 'Right on! My shit's clean. My bag is packed. You tell me when and where.' You have no idea how quickly I accidentally assembled an army. I assure you, a quite formidable army. But now is not the time. It's not time yet.
But, it is time to get ready!

Okay folks. I think we've seen enough. Now, this person is now officially ready to be arrested and prosecuted and have his guns taken away for good.
No society should ever tolerate people going around talking about raising armies (accidentally?) and killing people. Really? I mean seriously? Are we really going to be a people that tolerates a full blown insurrectionist talking of civil war, raising armies and killing people? A person who has decided for himself when murder is and isn't necessary? He hasn't been elected to anything. He hasn't taken any oaths and responsibilities of public office. Yet, he deems himself sole arbiter of when murder is alright or when building a terror cell, even accidentally, is perfectly alright.

These are the sorts of individuals who are on the other side of this debate over gun control. No, they are not your grandpa who keeps a revolver in his desk in the study. Nor is it your outdoorsman uncle who likes to do a bit of fishing and hunting. It aint[sic] your grandma looking to scare off the foxes from the henhouse. These are full on survivalist apocolyptic[sic] nutcase psychopaths. With arsenals. Far from being the 'responsible gun owners,' they are exactly the people who ought not have them."

Oh lawd! As if I don't have enough to worry about with the North Koreans and these Aryan Brothers in Texas. Now I have to keep an eye out for some redneck treating his assault weapon like some phallic symbol while he is looking for a testosterone high because he is insecure in other areas.
