So the Million Middle Aged White People March went off today in D.C. without a hitch. (At least, as of this point in time, I haven't heard of any problems.) Blacks weren't storming out of their homes in the "chocolate city" to tell the "crackers" to go home, and the protesters didn't storm the White House lawn and demand to have the chosen one's head on a platter. I saw a few pictures of the protest and there was not a pitchfork in sight. Some of my Afrospear friends have blogged about it, but I am going to leave it alone. They got 50,000 people to march on Washington, big deal. His O ness packed 17,000 in the Target Center on much shorter notice.
But enough about politics for now. I want to blog about a story out of New Haven Connecticut that I have been keeping an eye on for the past couple of days. I am sure you have all heard about it by now: graduate student (And not any ordinary graduate student. A graduate student at Yale no less) goes missing just days before her wedding. She goes into a building on campus and never seems to come out. She is attractive, she is Asian, and her boyfriend is white. (Asian women are the flavor of the month for white guys.) Yale University has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.
Now I am wondering, is this another case of a "Runaway Bride"? Is she the unfortunate victim of a street crime?Or should we suspect her fiance of doing something nefarious? I mean this is like a script from a crime series on television.
I actually turned from college football today to watch the police press conference. And honestly, the way those folks were acting led me to believe that they know something that they aren't reporting. Field, aren't you doing what you always accuse the main stream media of doing? If this was some poor Africans American female student from an HBCU would you even be blogging about it. No, I would have a "Lakeesha Alert" up on my sidebar about it, but an entire blog post? Maybe not. So guilty as charged.
Still, I don't think this is your typical girl goes missing story. The girl was to be married tomorrow, and when you consider that a video camera caught her going into a building on campus and there is nothing of her coming out, it just makes it all the more intriguing.
I need you field hands to play detective with me. Any ideas or suggestions of where she might be? Come on, help me out here, there might be $10,000 in it for you.
