You have to feel for Congresswoman, Renee Ellmers. She is trying so hard to run away from who she really is, because she does not want to add fuel to that democratic narrative that republicans do not view women as equals.The poor thing was caught off guard when she made the following statement:
"Men do tend to talk about things on a much higher level,” Ellmers said. “Many of my male colleagues, when they go to the House floor, you know, they’ve got some pie chart or graph behind them and they’re talking about trillions of dollars and how, you know, the debt is awful and, you know, we all agree with that.
First she’s saying that men (perhaps only Republican men) don’t know how to connect with people. Second, she’s saying people are too stupid to understand pie charts.
Ellmers then said that women mainly want more time in their lives (don’t men as well?) and the first example she gave was that women wanted “more time in the morning to get ready.”
As for connecting to women specifically, Ellmers drove it home with a line that, had there been liberals in the audience, would have made the news.
“We need our male colleagues to understand that if you can bring it down to a woman’s level and what everything that she is balancing in her life — that’s the way to go,” [Source]
I am not sure that I know what "DOWN TO A WOMAN'S LEVEL" means. I think that in her mind, though, she knows exactly what it means.
Anyway, you gotta love her response.
"In a statement responding the Examiner’s story about the meeting, Ellmers said her words have been “taken completely out of context” and blamed “certain leftist writers” for engaging in “‘gotcha’ journalism.”
“I am a woman, and find it both offensive and sexist to take my words and redefine them to imply that women need to be addressed at a lower level,”
Wait a minute Ms. Ellmers. There is nothing out of context here; THAT IS WHAT YOU SAID! You can't just run a Jedi mind game on the facts. The whole world isn't a FOX Views studio.
Speaking of news studios, one New Jersey television station suspended a news reporter for going off on "young black males" while covering the tragic story of the Jersey City police officer. You might recall, this is the officer who lost his life because some punk decided that he wanted to bang a cop and get famous."News 12 New Jersey reporter Sean Bergin has reportedly been suspended for comments he made on-the-air Sunday evening about the black community.
After reporting on a suspect in the fatal shooting of Jersey City police officer Melvin Santiago, Bergin told his viewers that News 12 was “besieged” with phone calls from police officials “furious that we would give media coverage to the life of a cop killer.”
Those complaints were “understandable,” Bergin said. “We decided to air it because it’s important to shine a light on the anti-cop mentality that has so contaminated America’s inner cities.”
He then made the controversial argument that led to his reported suspension:
It has made the police officer’s job impossible and it has got to stop. The underlying cause of all of this, of course: Young black men growing up without fathers. Unfortunately, no one in the news media has the courage to touch that subject.According to TheBlaze’s Jason Howerton, a source with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed the suspension of unspecified length. Bergin has, thus far, been asked not to come into the office on Monday and Tuesday as station brass figure out what to do.

Now before I comment on Mr. Bergin's rant, let me say this: I am well aware of the problems that the lack of a father figure in the home can cause, and its often devastating effect on young black males in the inner city. I have dedicated a great part of my life to understanding and fighting this problem by reaching out to countless individuals and organizations. I don't have a choice; it's something I am faced with in my 9-5 job with the city and in my private practice as well.
Having said that, Mr. Bergin is a straight news reporter and not someone who is paid to give his opinions. Maybe he is auditioning for a spot on FOX (given what went down with him, he might just get it), but this was not the time or place to make his views about young black males known. Sorry.
Just read the damn news! That's what you are getting paid to do.
Another aspect of this story that I find troubling is the need for some folks in the majority population to attach crimes to black people in general, when the act itself was committed by one sick individual.
After Sandy Hook you didn't hear news anchors pontificating about young white males and their propensity to commit mass murder. After this latest animal took out that poor family in Houston , you didn't hear some news anchor talking about middle aged white men who kill their families because they feel that they are losing something dear to them. Why do it now?
So Mr. Bergin, in my humble opinion, deserves his suspension.
You could argue, on the other hand, that Anthony Cumia did not deserve his firing.
Yes he (Cumia) is an ignorant jerk. But he is paid to be an opinionated, bigoted, jerk, and he was just keeping in character. This guy, on the other hand, is paid to read the news.
He should have saved his views about young black males for his time alone with like minded individuals, who would have, no doubt, patted him on the back and asked him to pass another beer while nodding their heads in unison.
