Ten things I have learned.

I have learned a few things over the past couple of days and I would like to share them with you. Why? Because deep in my heart I believe that we can learn--and grow--together as human beings.

1. I learned that if FOX NEWS was around they would not have covered the Civil Rights march on Washington in 1963 because there was just too much "race- baiting" going on. You see, in the world of FOX News, they are the only ones allowed to be race- baiters.

2. I have learned that if you are from a large black family it might not be a good idea to all go out to a restaurant and celebrate any particular occasion all at the same time. If you do, try to go to a restaurant where there aren't quite so many white patrons. Apparently too many of you in one place tends to "threaten" white customers.

3. I have learned that you Negroes believe so much in "CP" time that you even show up late for your own funerals.

4. I have learned that while America focuses on the random and senseless killing of a stranger in Oklahoma, their fellow citizens continue to commit horrific and senseless crimes against their own family members.

5. I have learned that Colin Powell and Attorney General Holder understand who they are and where they stand in America.

6. I have learned that people like Star Parker and Clarence Thomas do not.

7. I have learned that Donald Trump is a fraud and a possible lawbreaker....wait, I already knew that.

8. I have learned that George Zimmerman is most likely a sociopath...wait, I, and others, already knew that as well.

9. I have learned that because of the culture of guns and violence in this country we will continue to have  accidents situations where there is a tragic loss of life.

10. Finally, I have learned that Democrats will continue to dominate national politics in this country, not because they are anything special, but because the other party is so far off the rails.

Mitt talk, and old family matters.

Before I start this post I would like to join numerous republicans and others in calling on Mitt Romney to release his tax returns. I am sure that he has done nothing wrong, but I am just tired of this back and forth and I am sure that he could put an end to it tomorrow if he wanted to.

Anyway, I have to give to Mitt. If he doesn't become our next president, and a couple of years from now Jabari Parker -and not Mitt Romney- is the most famous Mormon in America, he will at least be responsible for adding a couple of new phrases to the American lexicon:"Retroactive retirement", and "self- deportation". You gotta love it. Republicans are good at that. Mitt and his people are just doing what all good republicans do: Find interesting ways to say things.

Now maybe we will all start thinking outside the speech box.

For instance, consider the following: Joint defeating. This could be when two teams stink up a game and we don’t want to declare a winner, or when two boxers go 15 rounds without really fighting each other.

Future felon: That one baby who sticks out for all the wrong reasons when we visit the nursery.

Retroactive sex: Yes, you are married now, but there is that one who got away, and now you have to “tap that ass” ...let me stop. But you get the idea; it's all about creative phrasing. I actually admire that about Mitt's people. It kind of makes you wonder why they didn't come up with a groundbreaking campaign slogan like O had back in 2008.

Finally, now I know why a certain group of people came up with so much money online for a certain dude down in Florida.

Unfortunately, it seems that he allegedly has a thing for first cousins as well.

I lie, I owe, so off to jail I go.

Before I drop this next post I want to acknowledge all the beautiful people I met at the Blogging While Brown conference over the past two days. (Anslem,I see you doing big things at Jet Magazine. Congrats! Sean, congrats on your big move to the Mayor's office in the Big D as well.) You all are some serious field Negroes. Folks like Nathan from the Color Curve, Curvy CEO,Brotha Tech , Darryl from From Ashey to Classy, (loved being on the panel with you and Slim Jackson) Lamar and his beautiful family still holding it down in ATL, Soca Mom, a fellow West Indian, (and republican to boot) putting in work for her family among you Negroes in D.C., and a beautiful sister from the Chi who knows a thing or two about wines.

Props to Gina for getting this thing going five years ago, it's only going to get bigger and bigger.

Now on to some bad news: I loved how Evander Holyfield put in work in the boxing ring back in the day, that's why I want to help him with his latest little problem.

"Evander Holyfield was one of the great boxing stars of the 1990s and amassed more than a quarter of a billion dollars in purses during his illustrious career. Apparently, though, $250 million doesn't go as far as it used to.
Holyfield, who filed bankruptcy in Fayette County, Ga., in 2008, reportedly owes in excess of $372,000 in child support and may wind up in jail if he does not resolve the issue, according to a TMZ report.

In both 2008 and 2009, his massive 54,000 square-foot home in Fairburn, Ga., went into foreclosure. The home, which sits on 104 acres, has 109 rooms, including 17 bathrooms, three kitchens and a bowling alley. He's had numerous financial issues in the years since.

On Saturday, TMZ reported that the Georgia Department of Human Services has gone to court on behalf of Holyfield's 18-year-old daughter. It alleged he owes $372,097.40 in child support that has gone unpaid since April 2010. According to a 2009 report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Holyfield has child support payments of more than $500,000 a year. He has at least 11 children." [Source]

Champ, I know a thing or two about this child support thing, so please give me a call ASAP so that I can help you out with this problem. I do not want to see you go to jail for owing child support.

I  could refer you to a wonderful financial planner as well, but unfortunately it might be a bit late for that.

Finally, it looks like a certain person from Central Florida will have to turn himself in to authorities after lying to the court about his finances.

This probably will not come up at trial, because it is not relevant to what happened on that tragic night. But credibility is always an issue with the court. Especially when the other witness to what happened is dead.

Still free.

Another day has passed and George Zimmerman is still free. *shaking head* Anyway, a grand jury will convene in early April and unless the people of Florida are as dumb as their local law enforcement officials, criminal charges are sure to follow. I also have to commend the Department of Justice for getting involved. It's amazing what a little pressure can do. All you people who helped to blow up this story should be proud of yourselves. Nancy Grace isn't going to pick up our stories, so we have to make it a story and hope that the main stream media will chase it.

Sadly, I continue to learn more about what happened on that night in Central Florida, and the more I learn the angrier I get. It's getting harder and harder for the enemies of justice to justify the actions of the racist vigilante masquerading as a protector of law abiding citizens. Florida's seven year old self- defense ("stand your ground") law was made for the victim in this case, not for the shooter. But the shooter hid behind the law and avoided being charged by inept local law enforcement officials.

Still, there are some who do not believe that all the hoopla over one teenager getting shot to death in Florida is justified. (Just read the comments after this Will Bunch column in my local paper) To them it's just another black teen who was profiled and lost his life because of the actions of others in his community. "If young black men weren't so dangerous and didn't commit such a disproportionate number of crimes, upstanding law abiding citizens would not be in such fear of them."  That's the latest narrative from the clueless A-merry-can crowd. Get used to it; you will be hearing it over and over again. This is a crowd who is more upset over the TSA pat down of a toddler than they are about a teenager actually losing his life. (BTW, way to go dad. Posting a video of your kid all over the web for the world to see and scrutinize.)

“They always get away,” Zimmerman told dispatch in a 911 call released Friday, and he kept tracking Martin. Zimmerman had a gun. Martin was carrying only an ice tea and the Skittles he’d just bought at the store. The two had a struggle that no one saw. Hearing shots, neighbors called 911. In one call that’s hard to listen to, a woman anxiously says she can hear someone calling for help while in the background, a terrified, wailing voice pleads, "No! No!"

I heard that "wailing voice". And it didn't belong to George Zimmerman.
