A president tries to silence his critics, and Trayvon Martin redux.

The president of these Divided States of America will do anything to silence his critics. (Remember when he said he would pull the credentials of members of the press?)

Now, in a stunning display of hubris, he has declared that he wants to revoke the national security clearance of folks like John Brennan, James Comey, Michael Hayden,and Susan Rice. If I didn't hear it from his press secretary I would think it's some kind of bad joke.

“For political reasons, this is a petty way of retribution, I suppose, for speaking out against the president, which I think on the part of all of us, are borne out of genuine concerns about President Trump,” 

Of course it's "petty retribution",  he has no other way of doing things. We all knew that  Mr. trump has very thin skin, we just didn't know that it was this thin.

Finally, there was another shooting in Florida by a white man of an unarmed black man. and like a more high profile case in our recent past, the killer said he feared for his life. The killer in this case is using Florida's "Stand-your-ground" law as a shield from prosecution.

By all accounts, this was simply a case of a man getting his ego bruised and retaliating with deadly force. I watched the video a few times, and there is just no other way to explain it. The local sheriff has already declared that he will not charge the man *Black man pushes white man to the ground in public. He deserves the death penalty*

"He had to shoot to defend himself," Pinellas county sheriff Bob Gualtieri said. "And those are the facts and that's the law.  "

Watch the video, switch the race of the killer and the victim, and tell me if you think that Sheriff Gualtieri  would have made the above statement.

Sarah is "bright" but Susan is not?

I am going to have to hurry with this post, because I have a date on the Boardwalk ,tonight.

Anyway, I was following the saga of this brother down in B-More via twitter and The Baltimore Spectator,-this social media stuff is no joke- and I realized that you can make a cause celebre out of damn near anything these days. Still, I wish the brotha luck with his situation. I really hope that he didn't break any laws. (Always watch out for those warrants)

I still can't get over the fact that a guy who picked Sarah Palin to be his running mate said that Susan Rice "isn't very bright". (Sorry Kirsten, Toure was right and you were wrong.)

First, let's take a look at her pedigree:

Father is an economics professor at Cornell, and he is a former governor of the Federal Reserve System.

Her mother is a guest scholar at the Brookings institute.

Now to Rice herself:

Class valedictorian and class president at a very prestigious prep school in D.C.

A Harry S. Truman scholar at Stanford University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

A Rhodes Scholarship and Master's and Doctorate degrees in International Studies from the University of Oxford...there is more, but I think you get the picture.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, well she works over at FOX NEWS these days.

Finally, former congressman, Allen West, is actually comparing himself to Honest Abe.

"GOP House Representative Allen West (R-FL) told NPR’s Michel Martin Friday that his recent defeat won’t deter him, because, after all, “Abraham Lincoln only served one term in Congress, too.”

Allen, I can't wait for the movie about your life.

"White on Rice."

“You’ve got grumpy old (white) men going after a young accomplished woman of color,” Milbank wrote in a piece this week. “It’s arguable this is not the path to convincing the American people that the GOP is truly a big tent where all races, religions and classes are welcome.”

That was Dana Milbank of the Washington Post writing about the GOP's latest attempt to find skeletons in O's presidential closet. This time they are hoping that Susan Rice will be the crack in O's armor that will lead to his ultimate downfall. (Good luck with that. They will find that Troy was a cake walk compared to getting to O.) Poor "grumpy old (white) men", they tried to make Eric Holder their Trojan Horse but to no avail. Now, unfortunately for her, Susan Rice will have to face the wrath of the "grumpy old (white) men".

Some have attributed nefarious motives to the GOP's actions, and some, while not excusing their actions, have seemed to have read their minds.

“The GOP letter is wrong. It is partisan. It is angry. It is sour grapes. It is inaccurate. It is unfair. It is grossly misdirected against Susan Rice, who did absolutely nothing wrong. But in my humble opinion the letter has nothing to do with race.” [Source]

Of course, as is to be expected, the "grumpy" ones have declared that their actions are not racist but in the best interest of the country. They claim that they are simply trying to get to the bottom of what happened in Libya.

"Republicans, Graham foremost among them, made a patriotically tinged denial of the charges:

“Well, when you can’t answer the question, you attack the questioner,” he said on Fox News’s “Fox and Friends.” “The only color I’m worried about when it comes to Benghazi is red—blood red, the death of four Americans.” [Source]

 

But....but..., I thought they answered the question.

Sorry men, no matter how hard you try, you cannot make Benghazi into Watergate. And, sadly for you, this is not the Trojan Horse you were looking for.
