It's a black thing....

Mrs. Field and I went to a unique tie affair earlier, but I didn't feel like staying so we left early.

I don't like unique colored cars because they show the dirt too much.

I love to see women dressed in little unique dresses when they go out on the town.

If a unique cat crosses your path it's supposed to be bad luck.

I know the first paragraph of this post was crazy but hang with me for a minute, I am trying to make a point. It's like this: I recently read this story from New York about a young lady who had to remove the word black from her year book because the school's principal, after consulting with lawyers, decided that it might be too offensive to "some" people. Yes, they really said that, look at the link. Anyway, because the word black is offensive, the powers that be told the young lady to use the word unique instead. As in SAY IT LOUD I AM UNIQUE AND I AM PROUD. No, but seriously, this is not funny. Who the hell finds the word black offensive in 2009? And where the hell is Cuba, New York? I bet there isn't as much censorship in Havana, Cuba as there is in Cuba, New York.

"In my view, it could have been deemed offensive by some people, and therefore, rather than offend some people the better course of action is to make it inoffensive to anyone,...A recommendation was made to allow the student to present something else, which might not be deemed offensive, while still certainly if anyone wants to acknowledge their heritage or be proud of their heritage, that is certainly acceptable. That is not a problem."

Some people are taking this "post racial" A-merry-ca shit just a little too far. Look, I get the whole PC thing, and in certain types environments we can't go around offending other people with insensitive and callous remarks. If someone referred to themselves or one of their friends with an ethnic or religious slur in a year book, they should be censored. But black? Has black become the new nigger in a post racial A-merry-ca? Wow, I feel so out of the loop.

"There is no legal claim for hurt feelings, and there is no conceivable way that a student referring to her race in a yearbook could give anyone a right to sue...I'd challenge the school district to come forward with a single court case in which a school has ever been ordered to pay damages to people who found a remark in a yearbook upsetting to them."

Come on now Mr. Lawyer man, didn't you know that there is a first time for everything?

If you can't beat em....

"We've been misdefined as a party that doesn't care, a party that's insensitive, a party that is unconcerned about minorities, a party that's unconcerned about the lives and expectations and dreams of average Americans, and nothing could be further from the truth.."

So says Michael Steele, the guy who loves puppies and the new Chairman of the RNC. Oh, and Michael, as you can tell by his pic, just happens to be an African American. Oh those repubs, they are so original. Seriously, if you are a *dye in the wool repub this has got to hurt. Steele, after all, pissed off conservatives when he found a moderate organization, and from time to time has seemed almost embarrassed by his party affiliation. But look at the choices they had: The frat boy's hand picked man, Mike Duncan, Chip (the rapper)Salstman, Katon (I am a son of the confederacy) Dawson, and Kenneth (I am a proud house Negro)Blackwell. Wow, talk about scraping from the bottom of the barrel. These repubs are in some serious trouble.

Oh come on field, you are always crying about how insensitive the republicans are, and how they need to reach out to people of color, and now they pick one of your people and you still aren't satisfied. Nope, because I know a hustle when I see one. Here is the thing: if you put an African American in a position of power just because the other guy did it and you think it was successful for him, you aren't really doing shit. You are just playing politics as usual.

Steel might be "charismatic", but he strikes me as one of those Negroes who will say whatever is necessary to fit in. I see the guy on FOX NEWS and he is killing Obama and calling him every kind of name in the book. Then I see him on one of those late night talk shows and he is saying what a great guy Obama is and how the repubs have a lot of work to do blah blah blah. Yeah, Michael is somewhat of a fraud, he should fit in well with the folks over at the RNC.

But he will be right at home with the repubs, and this is just what the Doctor ordered for them in the age of Obama. They were losing their minds while trying to come up with an answer for his O ness, and now they think they have it. Damn that Obama sure is popular. He is smart, articulate, and very telegenic. Where can we get a Negro like that? Hey, how about that Steele guy, he speaks really well....

"I would say to the new president, congratulations,... It's going to be an honor to spar with him, and I would follow that up with 'how do you like me now?' "

Michael, I didn't like you before, and I sure as hell don't like you now. I am just not feeling the our Negro is better than your Negro game your party is playing. And I am really not feeling you because you are letting yourself become a pawn in the game. Still, I wish you luck. Your party has a lot of work to do. Divide and conquer politics doesn't seem to work in A-merry-ca anymore. And all of those old Southern voters who long for the days when we were paler and more Christian are all [thankfully] dying off. What that means is less votes for you and a better A-merry-ca for all of us.

So congrats Michael, you can go out and celebrate now. But don't party too hard, you have a lot of work to do.
*Thanks Murf..

Death and despair.

Before I post tonight I want to comment on the political cat and mouse game going on in Washington. Rethugs lost the battle to block the O man's stimulus package yesterday, and now the spinners from both sides are out in full force. Folks, let me ask you a question: If you hired a builder to build your home and he fucked it up so bad that you had to bring in a new one to tear it down and build it up again; would you allow the builder who fucked it up to tell the new one what to do? Of course you wouldn't, that's my point.

So now to my post:

I saw a story today out of Michigan (no, not the one about the World War II vet who froze to death because the scum bags at the gas company turned off his heat) which made me think of one of those futuristic movies where the world is but a shell of what it used to be. It's a world fully populated by scavengers and barbarism rules the day.

There was this frozen body in a Detroit warehouse, and even after three 911 calls were made it took two days for the city to finally remove the body. No one knows who he is, and no one knows how he died, but it doesn't matter. It's Detroit, so who gives a damn. At least his death might have been swift. The city around him has been dying a slow painful death for years. Detroit, like so many places in A-merry-ca, is not what it used to be. Unemployment is high, the home foreclosure rate is sky rocketing, and businesses are leaving faster than Hussain Bolt in Beijing.

I am trying to remember if it was like this before 2000. Before the presidential jacking in Florida, and that horrible fall day the following September. I am pretty sure that it wasn't. Yeah things were still bad in some places, but at least we had hope. You could still look over the mountain top (sorry Martin) and see a beautiful valley down below. Not now. All we see now is more pain and despair. More layoffs, more downsizing, and more desperation.

Yeah the "motherfucker from Midland" (sorry to steal your line Chris) really did a number on us. And I am still pissed at my fellow citizens who voted for that son of a bitch, TWICE. Honestly, the more I think about it, is the more I want someone, anyone, from his administration to be prosecuted for one of the crimes that I know they committed. At first I was thinking just let it go, why relive the past in the age of Obama? But seeing that frozen body today made me rethink my position.

I want to hold someone accountable for what they did to our country, I want some neo con heads on a platter. I don't want some low level flunky, I want someone who had a seat at the table. Someone who was eating from the frat boy's five course meal while we ate scraps.

Here Come Da Drunk.

Before I start this post, let me say congrats O man for getting your stimulus package passed in the house today. I know the rethugs are fit to be tied, but fuck em, they don't have a party anymore; they are totally irrelevant.

Okay now that I got that off my chest I want to talk about Judge Curtissa E. Cofield.

Honestly, I don't want to pile on the good judge, lord knows she has been getting it from all quarters, and rightfully so. Getting busted for DUI was bad inexcusable behavior for someone who sits in judgement of others, but what really set me off about this story was her behavior after she was arrested. This happened back in October, but this is the You Tube age, and the video of her little ep. recently went public.

Seriously folks, the self hatred that some Negroes display on a daily basis is astonishing to me. Now here is a supposedly educated woman calling out an African American police officer for doing his job. "Well, they got the head n----- in charge and he … Which one, the head n----- in charge?" Now Judge, was that really necessary? "Oh, no. We don't. We're ghetto Negroes. We don't have Triple-A." Well Judge, I hate to break it to you, but you are a serious "ghetto Negro". I don't care where you live, or what you do for a living. Being a "ghetto Negro" is a state of mind. And your state of mind is seriously fucked up. Ahh but come on field, this was black on black hate, what's the big deal? It's a huge deal. Because a lot of our problems as a community stem from black on black hate. And for a Judge, of all people, to be displaying these characteristics, just makes the story even more sad.

In the Islands we have an expression for Negroes like the good Judge: "Neva si cum si" Translated: Never had shit, but now they do. Mrs. Field calls these people "new". As in that Negro done got "new". This Judge obviously can't get over herself, and it only took a little alcohol in her system to bring out the.....well, "ghetto".

Oh well, here is hoping that the good Judge won't allegedly drink and drive anymore. It's a dangerous a deadly practice. Hopefully she will have learned a lesson, and here is hoping that she writes a long letter to that state trooper apologizing for her ignorant and crass behavior.

Apparently the Judicial Review Board might have the final say in this episode, and honestly, I am not from Hartford, so I don't know what type of jurist this woman is. But what I do know is that she might just want to do some serious soul searching.

"I'm not signing anything, because when it comes down to the bottom line, who's smarter — me or you? We'll figure it out, won't we?"

Judge, we already did, and it ain't you.

Doing the unthinkable.

It's getting harder and harder to understand the level of evil and despair that dwells in the hearts of some of our fellow human beings. My goodness folks, just when you thought you heard it all you see a heart breaking story like the one I am about to write about.

I am sure that most of you reading this have either read about or seen this sad and tragic story by now. A man loses his job out in Los Angeles, and rather than deal with the reality of being without a job in these troubling times, he does the unspeakable; he kills his entire family and then commits suicide.

Chalk up this tragedy to yet another side effect of the bad economic times that we are living through. But since when did losing your jobs mean that you should lose your life? Or that everyone around you who you should hold dear, should lose theirs? There is something wrong with this picture. Is achieving the A-merry-can dream and all the trappings that come with it more important than life itself? If we can't live the A-merry-can dream, does it then become pointless to live at all?

Look, like most of you, I enjoy my career and my job, I really do. But if I were to lose it all tomorrow I am pretty sure that I would not take out Mrs. Field and then redecorate my carpet with my blood and brain matter. I would like to think that I have a pretty good grip of reality and what is important in my life, so ending my life would not be an option, no matter what happened.

Sadly, I suspect that before this economic downturn is over we are going to see many more stories like this one. And the sad truth is that we have seen them before. Just a few months ago an almost identical scenario played itself out in yet another California neighborhood. (What's in the water out there in Cali?) But to be fair, it's not only Cali, and these things don't only happen in bad economic times. There is a sickness and depravity in the hearts of some that boggles the mind. I am not religious, but I suspect that people who are will try to find a religious explanation for all of this. There is good and there is evil, and the people who commit these acts are evil. But if they are all evil, how do we explain the many people who say that these monsters were good neighbors, or good family men, or good co-workers, or whatever. When exactly did evil take over? And is the loss of a job enough to trigger evil?

There are some who will tell you that it is. That having a job and working is such a fundamental part of A-merry-can life, that losing your job would make going on with your life pointless. Okay fine, take your life, and go off to that great unemployment line in the sky, but please, go alone.

Dr. Ruth, eat your heart out.

Field, how many women did you sleep with before you hooked up with the little Mrs.? That was my boy over the weekend (hey there is no NFL, men talk) grilling me about my past indiscretions. "Man that ain't none of your business, and that is definitely not something I talk about, not even with your black ass." Is what I told him.

We were cracking up on the phone. My man, a serious Lothario, was settling down and planning to pop the question to his lady this spring.

"And why do you want to know that for?" "Hey man" he was telling me, "I want to know when enough is enough." "Negro", I told him, "enough is enough when you have settled down and found your significant other. And since I am hoping that's the case, you have already reached the enough stage."

That conversation had me thinking about sexual partners and how much is too much or too little. I actually googled it, and I found that 29% of A-merry-can men have had 15 or more sexual partners in their lives, and something like 9% of women have hooked up with the same amount of people. (Yeah right, like women are ever honest about how many men they sleep with.)

I read somewhere that the average A-merry-can male has had about seven different sexual partners in his life. I am not sure about the women. Not that it matters, I bet it wouldn't be accurate. I don't know, that number just seems a little low to me. Not that I have necessarily reached that threshold, but I am just saying, with all those drunk college frat boys out there partying every weekend, hell I am guessing seven different sexual partners is all in a semesters work.

So anyway, I wanted to conduct my own little experiment. Could you folks do me a huge favor? Could you just leave a comment and a number with your post and let me know where you stand(no pun intended) on this subject. It can all be anonymous as far as I am concerned, even you regulars to the fields who usually leave your handle.

Just leave a post like this: Anonymous = 7 different partners. 9:39 PM.

Oh, could you do me another favor? Could you identify yourself as a man or woman.

Like this: Anonymous (woman) = 7 different partners. 9:39 PM.

I thank you, and Dr. Ruth and the CDC thanks you as well.

Obama vs. Rush.

In this corner, we have the 50 million or so Obamaholics who will defend his O ness with the type of fervor and devotion reserved for religious fanatics with bombs strapped to their belts.

And in this corner, we have the 20 million or so devotees and psycho wing nuts who would give their right arms---well maybe not the right one---their left arms for the fat cigar smoking drug addict, affectionately known as Rush. Advantage Obama.
It might be because of this advantage that his O ness invoked the name of the fat boy yesterday. Obviously, the rethugs are not pleased. They think it was a cheap political ploy, and an attempt by his O ness to play his own little game of divide and conquer.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done"

That's what he told a bunch of GOP leaders after asking them to come see him at the Beige House. Now dem there is fighting words, Obama. Telling a republican that they can't listen to Rush is like telling a hooker that she can't wear heels. But what's his O ness to do? He has a 800 billion dollar stimulus package to push through, and these rethugs don't want to play ball.

In a way I see what his O ness was doing. But why Rush? Why not FOX? They have way more viewers, and I bet more rethug politicians watch FOX than listen to Rush. Hell the people who listen to Rush can hardly read and write let alone prowl the halls of Congress. But I get it O man, it's all about symbolism.

I know who is loving this attention: Rush. He can't wait to engage you O man, more ratings for him, and more material for his stupid show. He is having multiple orgasms as I write this. Still, I don't know if I can blame you for calling him out, after all, the ignorant SOB said that he hopes you fail. I think that would be enough to piss anyone off. Even someone as smooth as you.
But don't worry about Rush O man, at the end of the day, you are going to get your stimulus package. You are the President now, so please do whatever you think is best to get us out of this mess. You have political capital, spend it well.

I just hope that after the financial institutions and other special interests get their cut, there will be enough left over to help the people who put you in.

"I want to know what happened to my son"

By DAFNEY TALES & CHRISTINE OLLEY,Philadelphia Daily News
talesd@phillynews.com 215-854-5084

"With one arm clutching a teddy bear, Nikisha Ramsey hugged three teenaged boys who had come by to offer condolences over the loss of her 17-year-old son, Dwayne. 'Ya'll be careful,' she cautioned as they left her North Philadelphia rowhouse. Just moments before, she had arrived from the Medical Examiner's Office, where she had identified the body of her son, who was killed near their home Tuesday night. Police said that Dwayne Canty, who lived with his mother on Newkirk Street near Susquehanna Avenue, had been shot to death about a half-block away after being robbed at gunpoint on his way to a nearby Kentucky Fried Chicken to get dinner for his family.

He didn't make it far. He was approached by two individuals who shot him several times at close range and stole about $120 to $140, said Homicide Capt. James Clark. His killers fled on foot, leaving him lying in the cold in a vacant lot, Clark said. Canty was pronounced dead shortly after at Temple University Hospital.

'It's a senseless killing, it's a cold-blooded killing,' Clark said before asking for the public's help in apprehending the killers.

'Here you have a 17-year-old male who's never had any problems with the police, was in a GED program, and once he graduated from his GED program, he had plans to go into the Navy,' he said.

'It's senseless and we're going to do our best to bring these individuals to justice.'
Clark implored anyone with information about the killing to call homicide detectives at 215-686- 3334.

Earlier Tuesday, Dwayne had gone for his annual medical check-up, his mother said yesterday. He'd just gotten paid from his job at the McDonald's in Plymouth Meeting.
The family returned home to watch the presidential inauguration and remained in high spirits the rest of the night, she said.

Later on, she grew hungry and Dwayne offered to treat.
He left and almost immediately Ramsey said she felt something was wrong.

'I heard the shots and I got a sinking feeling,' she said, her voice quivering.
She flung the blanket that was draped over her onto the floor, threw on a pair of pants, and, forgoing a coat, ran out.

On the corner, police and a crowd of curious neighbors had already congregated by the time she arrived. Ramsey tried to reach her son, who lay riddled with bullets on a small grassy area, but was held back by cops.

'I just kept thinking, 'Why my son? Why my son?' she said. 'My son didn't do nothing but go to school, work and be with his girlfriend'.

'He worked for that money they took it from him.'

At a vigil held last night, supporters huddled next to the lot in the freezing cold, long candles held in their gloved hands. A man called for sinners to repent and requested that neighbors give donations to the family. One woman shouted for the community's help. Ramsey continued her plea.

'I want to know what happened to my son,' she said, surrounded by neighbors.
Tears spilled as a girl sang the gospel song, 'Still I Rise.'

Afterwards, Dwayne's younger brother, Deandre Ramsey, 15, headed home with his head bowed, shuffling his feet against broken ice on the sidewalk.

'I feel hurt, sad,' said the soft-spoken youngster. 'I know he's in a better place, but I want him down here with me.'"

No little man you don't want him down here with you, because chances are he would meet the same fate again. And Ms. Ramsey you aren't the only one who wants to know what happened to your son, I want to know too.

Yes it's me, field, the party pooper , bringing once again a dose of reality to these cheerful and euphoric post inauguration times. So here we are in Killadelphia, just two hours from the coronation, and it's more teddy bears, flowers, and another funeral home getting paid.

We have been down this road before, and everyone who comments here has grappled with this problem and struggled to find the answers. The truth is, we are still struggling, and those of us who care are out here every day fighting the good fight. A fight, that sadly, we are still losing. And as much as I wish it wasn't true, somehow I don't think having a man leading our country who looks like the perpetrators and the victims will make any difference.

"The family went home to watch the inauguration and remained in high spirits"

If they only knew.

To spell or not to spell, that is the question.

Most of you who read this blog on a regular basis know that if it wasn't for spell check my posts would read like some ancient Egyptian language. And even with it, I sometimes manage to misspell a word or two. I must confess that I am one of those people who thinks that spelling is way overrated. (I think those little crumb snatchers who enter that national spelling bee every year are aliens. Caoutchouc: c-a-o-u-t-c-h-o-u-c-. Sheesh! ) Who cares if a word is missing a letter or two? If the reader understands what the writer is saying it's all good in my book. And if the writer wants to introduce his or her own words into the conversation, that's fine too.

Anywhooo, I was over at the excellent web site called Crooks & Liars, and one commenter, Floyd George, left the following:

"I cdnuolt blveiee that I cluod aulacity uesdnatnrd what I was rdgniegThe phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy,it deosn't mttaer in what oredr the ltteers in a wrod are,the olny iprmoatnt tihng is that the first and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. Therset can be a taotl mses and you can still raed it wouthit a porbelm. this is bcuseae the huamm mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the word as a wlohe Amzanig huh?And you awlyas tohguth sipeling was ipmorantt. "

Now I thought that was amazing, not only because I understood every word of that paragraph, but because it proves my point about the inconsequentialness [is that a word?] of lining up our letters in just the right order. Hell, it looks to me like if we get the first and the last letter in the word we are good to go.

So all of you lazy dyslectic writers like moi can take heart, we are going to take back this writing thing in our own inappreciable and understated way. A misspelled wrd here a misspelled wrd thre, and bfre you know it, the spell police will all be out of work.

I can't wait.

Sorry Scooter

looks like you won't be getting that pardon. Oh well, I guess it's time for you to write that tell all book. Come on Scooter, throw us all a bone. Think about the huge advance you will get. You are still a felon, so you can kiss your law license good bye. --It's a shame, because I hear that you were a very good lawyer----So what are you going to do for an income? I have a few ideas: you could black mail Cheney, (he has lots of money to pay you), you could go back to Texas with the frat boy and help him raise funds for his presidential library, and you could try to get a job in D.C. with the help of your rich republican friends. But I am sure that none of those are options that you would be willing to consider. And I can't really say that I blame you; you want what they got out of the deal.

I know that conservatives are about to go into an apoplectic state over this, and how can you blame them? They begged and pleaded with the frat boy to pardon Scootter, and he gave them his ass to kiss. But I know why he is not pardoning Scooter. Think about it: with a presidential pardon and no chance of being prosecuted, old Scooter can't plead the 5th. So this is a brilliant political move by the frat boy, it keeps Scooter's mouth closed.

Anyway, I know one person who isn't pleased about the non pardon of Scooter.

"Scooter Libby is one of the most capable and honorable men I've ever known. He's been an outstanding public servant throughout his career. He was the victim of a serious miscarriage of justice, and I strongly believe that he deserved a presidential pardon. Obviously, I disagree with President Bush's decision."

I am sure he is "capable and honorable"Dick. And I am sure some of those capabilities went a long way in helping you to achieve your goals.

I am trying to be "post-racial", I really am.

I love both of my home town newspapers, I really do. But on the day after the coronation of his O ness, they publish the following account by Philadelphia business woman, Yvonne Allison:

"MY BUSINESS partner and I went to dinner recently at one of Center City's upscale restaurants. It's a favorite, and we arrived early before the holiday crowd.

As our entrée was served, the restaurant began to fill up and a couple was seated at the table behind us. We were close enough that it was easy to hear their conversation without feeling guilty of eavesdropping.

The woman was greeted by our waitress as a regular customer, and her companion was introduced to the server as a longtime friend dining at the restaurant for the first time. She said that two more friends would be joining them. Our diligent waitress promised to direct them to her when they arrived.

They were seated directly behind me. As we finished our main course, I heard the woman praise the menu as she told her friend that he would love the food no matter what he ordered.
Trying not to listen, I heard only snippets of what was said next until a word was used that managed to turn my stomach upside down. She asked him what his favorite food was. He replied, "I can tell you what I don't like. I don't like n----- food."

His use of the "n-word" continued and led into a discussion about President-elect Obama.
Numerous disparaging and ugly remarks were made, including how sad it was that someone hadn't already "knocked him off." I was stunned as I felt the color drain from my African-American face.

I felt emotions I hadn't felt since my childhood. I was horrified and filled with rage. It was difficult for me to stay seated and not turn around and face them with my anger and embarrassment. I looked across the table at my Jewish business partner as I shook my head. She knew by my reaction that something terrible had happened, but she didn't know what because she couldn't hear their conversation.

What should I do? These people were having a private conversation. They never looked my way - nor were their racist comments directed at me.
I wanted to turn around and confront them. But I didn't.
I was suddenly frozen in time as painful memories from the past came flooding back. The dull ache in the pit of my stomach was one I hadn't felt since growing up in a small western Pennsylvania town in the '50s.

Blacks weren't permitted to eat in upscale restaurants nor could they swim in community pools.

I flashed back to the time when my two best friends, who were white, told me they couldn't walk to school with me because I was "colored." Those emotional feelings of racism and exclusion churned inside when I heard him say the word that was never spoken in our home - the word my parents raised me to rise above and not become a victim of as they taught me the familiar chant, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me."
I turned slightly in my seat to watch as her other two friends came to the table. I was shocked to see that one of them was African-American. It was all I could do not to pull him aside and tell him what I'd heard. As we passed by their table to leave, I tried to make eye contact. But I was invisible.

Would being noticed by them have satisfied me? Probably not. Would my white Marine Corps husband's being there to defend me have made me feel better? Yes, but only for the moment.
What did I do? I took the high road. The experience made me realize how important it was to remember how far we've come, and the opportunity we all have to achieve long-term satisfaction. So rather than dwell on the negative feelings that were generated from the past during my dining experience, I'm uplifted as I look toward the future.

I knew then that on Jan. 20, 2009, I would be privileged to witness what my ancestors had struggled for and dreamed of but never got to see: the first African-American sworn in as the 44th president of the United States of America, Barack Obama.

Thank you, Mr. President, for the hope you've given me. I invite you and the first lady to join me for dinner at one of Philadelphia's finest restaurants! "

Ahh come on field, just one day after possibly the greatest day for race relations in our country and you start with the racism chase again.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger, I am not the Editor of the Philadelphia Daily News. Besides, we have a black Prez. now, can't he just issue and executive order and declare racism over? I am just saying.

BTW, Ms. Allison, your actions (or lack of it) were almost as bad as the person you over heard talking. I understand that you could not have attempted to bring physical harm to the individual because you are a lady. But you had an obligation to tell the person of color who joined David Duke and company what kind of company they were in. If they told you to go and fuck yourself at least you could have done it with a clear conscience.

I have some thoughts

about today's awe inspiring day down in D.C.

First, as Denzel said in "Training Day": "What a day, what a m****r f*****g day."

Watching all those people on the Mall; black and white, rich and poor, coming from all corners of the country and the world to witness history, was moving. It was such a great moment in our history that even the haters on the right (more on them in a minute) couldn't mess it up.

Was there some stumbles? Sure there was. Like when Chief Justice Roberts caught a brain lock while swearing in his O ness. I mean what the hell was he rushing through it like that for? Was he that cold? Did the thought of having to swear in a black man piss him off that much? Geeez. And when Rev. Lowery, god bless his 87 year old heart....you know what, I am going to leave that one alone.

And Dick, you are not fooling anybody. Sprained your back moving my ass. You were in a wheel chair because you did not want to have to stand up for his O ness. It was your final "F" you to a man and a movement who and which you despise and which is the very antithesis of everything you stand for. So tonight when you jump up out of that chair and start planning how to spend the millions you stole from us, may you fall on your fat ass and hurt your back "fo" real this time.

But at the end of the day the good far outweighed the bad. The haters on the right are all saying that Obama's speech was weak, that he came up short, that it wasn't awe inspiring and on and on. (Like every time a black man gives a speech he has to be Martin all over again) They all were waiting for an "I Have A Dream" moment, it didn't happen. He gave a speech, and it was a good one, (better than the one that most presidents have given) it might not have been what we have come to expect from his O ness, but damn it the man doesn't have to hit a home run every time he comes to the plate. Doubles and triples will get the job done, too. And that's what he hit today, a nice solid double. He didn't even have to slide into second.

But the folks on the right have Barack Derangement Syndrome (BDR) already and the man hasn't even been president for eight hours yet. For a real treat you have to go to some of these wing nut blogs to see what they are saying ( I gave you a little here later). I am telling you Obamaholics you are going to have to work really hard to keep the "hateration" out of your O -Aid. Hey, I will confess: I had Bush Derangement Syndrome. But I didn't get that shit until after he took us to war and after Katrina. You wingnuts have BDS way too early in the game.

So here is hoping that everyone makes it home safely. I keep thinking of that beautiful lady, Ella Mae Johnson, and others like her who never dreamed that they would live to see this day, and I hope that everything went well for them. I can't help but think of those school children who will see all of this and have the best civic lesson of their life. I am thinking of the folks who went to D.C. with little money, no lodging, and just the clothes on their backs. Not to mention the thousands of people (black and white) who volunteered their time and energy, and who were a part of a movement, and finally got a chance to see their dream realized. Now they can throw the bums out and fumigate the joint.

But Obamaholics, just to keep you grounded and give you some perspective from the right. Here is what some of the wingnuts over at a site called "Wizbang" were saying that they were going to be doing today:

"So, what do you good people intend to do tomorrow, that is, if you have the misfortune off having off for the day?"

"My day will be spent watching the Back to the Future trilogy, and a dvd marathon of old Star Trek episodes. The Tribbles never looked so good."

Obamaholics, you still have some work to do before you bring our country together.

Just a few hours and counting.

As the day *of my inevitable run draws near, I cannot look anywhere without being reminded of my silly prediction and subsequent dare. It's wall to wall coverage of his O ness and his coronation tomorrow, and rightfully so. Honestly, I wish I could be there, but unlike Mrs. Field and her girlfriends, I just don't do crowds too well.

So tomorrow the first [black] family will move into the house that slaves built, and A-merry-cans will all be anxiously watching as Barack Hussein Obama is sworn in as our 44th President. For white A-merry-cans it will be a chance to feel good about their beloved country again. And for black A-merry-cans it will be a chance to feel pride about their stake in it. This is closer to the A-merry-ca that a certain Reverend from Atlanta dreamed about. This is closer to becoming the A-merry-ca that we all can be proud of.

I still don't know what kind of president his O ness will be, and I am pretty sure that from a purely political standpoint he is going to piss me off throughout the course of his presidency. But I cannot close my eyes to the enormous impact that having someone that looks like he does will have on the lives of children of color who are dreaming big dreams and who are aspiring to do great things with their lives. Every time they see their president on television they will be reminded that he looks like them or the people in their family and a positive seed will be planted. The fact that he is relatively young only makes it better. And hopefully, every time one of my brothers see that beautiful family and how they are achieving and still showing love to each other, they will aspire to do the same thing with their shorty (as Obama did with his) and not just step away after the first sign of trouble. It's no secret my brothers that you have a better chance of building wealth and becoming successful in life if you stay with your family and not make two or three of them that you can't contribute to emotionally or economically. But I digress. I need to stop preaching, there will be plenty of time for that later.

Right now we should all just enjoy the moment and the wonderful irony that comes with it. The day after we celebrate the birthday of the man with the dream, we inaugurate a man as our president which makes his dream closer to being a reality. That, as my young white friends would say, is "rich".

Now please observe the frat boy's countdown clock on my side bar and go pour yourself a stiff drink. It's almost over! You survived!

Hope springs eternal.

You will excuse me if I am a little down right about now. I just watched my Iggles choke once again in an NFC Championship game to the stinking Cardinals. THE CARDINALS! A team that is right there with the Detroit Lions when it comes to being inept.

The coronation of his O ness aside, it's all pretty much gloom and doom right now in A-merry-ca. The economy is in the tank, we are in the middle of two wars, and once again, the Iggles won't be in the Super Bowl. I sure hope that they have the bridge police in full force on the Ben Franklin, because there are quite a few Philadelphians on suicide watch right about now.

But, as is always the case, it could be worse. And I actually think that there might be some good things to look forward to this coming year. S0 for this post I have compiled 30 things that I think you and I can look forward to in the year ahead. (I stole this idea from my latest issue of GQ Magazine)
1. The prosecution of Dick Cheney for war crimes.
2. More cute pics of those two little girls who now occupy the White House.
3. The upcoming flick about Che Guevara by Steven Soderbergh.
4. The next Jill Nelson book.
5. Smaller cars.
6. Real middle class tax cuts.
7. A unhinged FOX NEWS division.
8. LeBron and Kobe battle in the NBA finals.
9. More blogs less newspapers.
10. Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle. Forrest Whitaker, and Robert De NeNiro still making movies.
11. Fast food meals for less than $4.
12. Checking out what Michelle is wearing.
13. The Eagles finally making some off season moves.
14. Tiger is back.
15. Prince and Dr. Dre are dropping new albums.
16. Less reality shows on T.V.
17. Better public schools. (It can't get any worse)
18. Less conservative Judges. ( I am sure his O ness will get that right)
19. TV One keeps getting better.
20. Whenever we hear "Hail To The Chief" we will see a black man.
21. The next HBO series.
22. My cousins becoming more responsible because we can't make our President look bad.
23. More entrepreneurship.
24. More respect for A-merry-ca from the rest of the world.
25. A-merry-cans will be buying less things on credit.
26. It's a good time to dust up the old passort and do some serious traveling.
27. Speaking of traveling, gas prices should continue to go down.
28. There are still great Jamaican restaurants on the East Coast.
29. Chris' Jazz Cafe is still going strong here in Philly.
30. And last but certainly not least, this might be the year that I finally get a chance to meet Lark. (Stop laughing, if a black man can become POTUS, I can meet Lark Voorhies.)

Continue to enjoy your five day weekend black A-merry-ca.

The Black Community Experts.

I recently read a fascinating article in "The Atlantic Magazine" about the recent elections and how the Obama team used (or didn't use) race to win the elections. It was quite an interesting insight into what the Obama team was thinking at various times during the campaign about the delicate issue of race.

I found the following parts of the article to be the most interesting:

"Obama refused to accept this late-20th-century model of racial politics, and he had no intention of fighting the general election with the same bolo punches and taunts that had stopped working decades ago. He had written a memoir about the labyrinthine complexities of racial difference. He wasn’t afraid to acknowledge the psychological effects of, say, race-based affirmative action on poorer whites. He had an exotic name. He was new. He was young. Most of his advisers weren’t black.

'There was a period when it was not at all clear that Obama would be able to win the vast majority of the African American vote,, David Binder, Obama’s focus-group guru, told me after the election. 'The biggest problem we had with African Americans would be that they didn’t think he could ever win.' In the focus groups, black voters told Binder that they didn’t believe whites would ever vote for Obama. 'That all changed with Iowa,' he said. 'The Iowa results proved to many African Americans that Obama had broader-based appeal and was not just someone who was going to be a token African American candidate.'

Last February, the black journalist Tavis Smiley held his annual State of the Black Union forum in New Orleans. For the second year in a row, Obama declined to attend. (The 2007 forum took place on the day he launched his campaign.) Smiley was angry about the slight and criticized Obama openly. The backlash against Smiley was intense. This was just after Obama had won the South Carolina primary, after African Americans had united around Obama in part because the Clinton campaign seemed to be writing him—and them—off. Smiley quit The Tom Joyner Morning Show, one of the country’s most popular radio programs among African Americans, because, as Joyner explained to his audience, 'He can’t take the hate he’s taken over Barack Obama. He’s always busting Barack Obama’s chops.'

The Smiley backlash was evidence to Obama’s inner circle that, in the words of one adviser, “Barack became untouchable in the community,” in much the same way that civil-rights heroes such as John Lewis had earned a lifetime’s worth of goodwill and benefit of the doubt. “Tavis Smiley was the object lesson for everyone,” says Anita Dunn, a senior campaign strategist.

'We came to realize that the black community, politically, had moved into a different era,' another senior Obama adviser told me shortly after the election. 'You could get intensity in the African American community by giving them a candidate they could see as being able to win. You didn’t have to speak to them in a way that would make white people nervous.' Obama shared the antipathy of liberal whites and younger blacks toward the hand-to-hand, transactional politics that had characterized the relationship between the Democratic Party and many African American leaders.

It took the campaign a while to figure out the right course. 'We did not have an organized strategy around this,' says Michael Strautmanis, a counselor to Obama. “It was like a series of constant recalibrations.”

In the winter of 2007, the campaign entered a bidding war with the Clinton campaign over the endorsement of State Senator Darrell Jackson, the pastor of one of the largest congregations in South Carolina. The Obama campaign offered him a $5,000-per-month retainer, and Jackson said he would soon endorse him. But then he sent word that the Clinton campaign was offering a more lucrative contract, implying, at least to the Obama team, that he would endorse Obama only if they would tender a more generous offer. Through his deputy campaign manager, Obama refused. It would be the last time that Obama negotiated with black pastors this way. (Jackson endorsed Clinton.)

A few weeks before the general election, aides to a pastor contacted the Obama campaign and laid out a political battle plan. The pastor would mobilize 300,000 volunteers and dispatch 72 church vans to battleground states on Election Day. He would touch more than 2 million voters. All he needed was $5 million to pay for it. The Obama campaign thanked him and said no. The pastor threatened to go public with the refusal. The Obama campaign pointed to examples of other black leaders who had confronted Obama in public, and invited the pastor, in essence, to bring it on. (The pastor apologized the day after the election.)"

Noooooo, you mean to tell me that preachers wanted $$$$$ from his O ness for their endorsement? I am shocked, shocked I tell ya.

Anyway, I knew how Tavis felt about his O ness all along, but now I know how the Obama folks felt about him. Must be nice to be able to just read the black community like you would a play book. Looks like his O ness had some Black Community Experts in his inner circle. (Do they study that shit in college?) I guess if you are a politician in A-merry-ca you are going to need a few things: A good fundraiser, a good grass roots organizer, great pollsters, and last but not least; a Black Community Expert.

Interesting. Poor old Tavis I guess he wont be doing any sit downs with our new president elect anytime soon. And no wonder the O man had Rick Warren pray at his inauguration, if he had asked some of these black preachers they would have wanted to get paid. (It doesn't take a Black Community Expert to figure out that preachers like $$$.) And we couldn't have that now could we, not when the country is so broke.

"Many are called but few are chosen".

Rikyrah (who is seriously cool people in my book) and the rest of you Obamaholics won't like this post, but you all know that I have to keep it 100% with you and tell you I feel about things. Well, actually, in this case, it's not just me, it's a whole lot of my fellow Philadelphians.

Now here is the deal: seems his O ness wanted to do the whole train down to D.C. thing like his boy Lincoln and other presidents did back in the day, an inaugural train ride if you will. Just a another way for him to go into to D.C., and show some folks some love along the way. A "Whistle Stop Tour" they are calling it. (He slipped into our very chilly city last night) So far so good, right? Yes but here is the problem: His O ness is going to start his trip right here in Philly at our venerable 30th Street Station, but the station will be closed, and only 250 of his closest friends will be allowed in to see his O ness start this historic journey this Saturday.

Here in Philly, we are not feeling the "brotherly love" from a certain president elect. In fact, we are feeling a litle like red headed step children. "I am disappointed for the masses of people here in Philadelphia who would like an opportunity to show their love and affection for this family before they leave" So said one woman, Ruth Birchett, from North Philly. I hear you Ruth, it would have been nice. And to add insult to injury, his O ness will be making stops to meet and greet his adoring fans along the way in Wilmington and Baltimore. I wonder if he realizes that Philly came out for him big time, and helped him to wallop the salty one (AKA Mr. Morton) by over 500,000.00 votes. Without those big numbers from Philly and its suburbs he could not have won Pistolvania, and that was huge. Baltimore? Wilmington? Yeah okay, we will see how much time you spend in those cities come 2012.

I wonder who these lucky 250 people are? Chris Mather of the Obama inaugural committee said that they were mostly "campaign volunteers" and not "big shots". Okay Chris I will take your word for it. But how did these people get selected? What about the people here in Philly who busted their butts knocking on doors and volunteering their time for your boy? What about the folks who sacrificed their time and hard earned dollars because they believed in the change that your boy was selling? Didn't they deserve at least a shot at being in that number? "I think there is some disappointment at not being able to see him in Philadelphia....There was an e-mail going around. Some people were expecting a large public gathering." Said another Obamaholic, but alas, it was not to be. Even my buddy Seth Williams, who could be our city's next DA, and who organized the O man's petition drive in these parts, was surprised. " I just assumed there was going to be a big parade" Apparently so did a lot of other people. But as we are all beginning to learn, his O ness likes to do things his way.

Which is cool. As long as he does a good job I am sure all will be forgiven. It's just that us folks here in Philly are feeling a little slighted, that's all. But hey, we are used to it. I just hope his O ness realizes that we have long memories. (We still haven't forgiven Wilson Goode for dropping that bomb on the Move people) So have fun on your train ride O man, and pack a few cheese steaks for the trip. Hey, you need something to help you remember us. But don't worry, we won't forget you.

GO EAGLES!

Mind reader.

My man Tafaraji sent me this pic of his O ness with some of the supremes today, and I was just dying to know what everyone was thinking while they were standing there. So, as a result, I did what any red blooded Jamaican would do, I called an Obeah woman to tell me, and she did.

President elect Barack Obama~~~~~~~When are some of you all going to start retiring? I need some appointments~~~

Chief Justice John Roberts~~~~~~Thank god for George Bush. You can't touch me Mr. "Chosen One"~~~~

Justice John Paul Stevens~~~~~Where the hell is Alito?~~~~~~~

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg~~~~~~He is even cuter in person: I can't look, he might see me blushing~~~~~~~~~~~

Justice Clarence Thomas~~~~~~I hope this Nigger doesn't think he is the HNIC now~~~~~~

Justice David Souter~~~~~~Biden is such a phony~~~~~~

VP elect Joe Biden~~~~~Roberts has some pretty nice hair. I wonder if he has plugs like me?~~~~

Obeah women are smart.

"Guess Who's Coming To Dinner"

This is why I am sure so many of you love his O ness. The man is just so damn forgiving. Seems our newly elected President went out to Chevy Chase, Maryland to break bread with a bunch of right wing journalists at George Will's 1.9 million dollar crib. There was George, there was David Brooks, and there was William Kristol, sitting down for a chit chat over what I am sure was a well cooked and tasty meal.

Now just what they were talking about we don't know, because the meeting was kind of hush hush. It was supposed to be an off the record meeting of course (yeah right, the details will be on FOX NEWS by next Sunday), so his O ness might have opened up to our right wing friends a little.

I guess his O ness was serious about reaching across the aisle. Yes Washington, this man is serious about changing the tone in that town. But just be careful who you pal around with there O man, they are not your friends. They might be glistening now, but it's all fool's gold. Believe me, that luster they are showing you won't last.

But back to the dinner: I am really curious to know what they said to each other? I bet there was a lot of forced smiles and phoniness in the house. (George I love what you did with the place? I didn't know you were into African Art? Sooooo how about them Ravens huh Obama? Do you watch football much? The little lady whipped up some barbecue, I know you love barbecue don't you Obama?I mean... being from Chicago and all..) Let me stop. O man, I just hope that you didn't eat anything that your host didn't eat first.

Just another day in Killadelphia?

You all will excuse me if I feel like I am living in a modern day version of Dodge City. Consider the following story:

An off duty police officer is cruising down a busy city street at 3:30 PM yesterday. To his shock and surprise....I take that back, this is Philly, I am sure he wasn't that surprised. But anyway, right there on a busy street in the Logan section of town, he observed a group of young African Americans jump from a car and proceed to pump bullets into another young African American male who was standing on the sidewalk.

Of course the off duty officer did what any properly trained cop would do, he pursued the perpetrators. He followed them in his car until they jumped out and tried to escape. Then, tragically, one of the young men allegedly reached for a hand gun and was shot and killed.

So field, what's the big deal? You tell us about killings in Philly all the time. Yes, but here is where the story takes a little twist: It seems the perpetrator who was shot and killed is the son of two of Philly's finest, himself. Yes folks, in the city of "Brotherly Love", there just isn't that much love going around these days. Even the sons of those who are paid to protect us allegedly try to play Al. Capone. Sadly, for this family, this son won't be coming home, and they will have to live with the memory that one of their fellow comrades in blue had to take him out.

From all indications it was a justifiable shoot. But, as is always the case with these things, we will have to wait and see. What is it that Danish philosopher said about irony?

" Irony is a disciplinarian feared only by those who do not know it, but cherished by those who do.."?

Irony, I know you well.

PLEASE JUST GO!

As I watched the frat boy defiantly give his final press conference and try his best to rewrite history, I must confess that I almost felt pity for the man. (Almost) There he was today trying to save his legacy, and trying to hold on to what slither of dignity he has left. As he took questions from the press corp, you had the feeling it was more like a trial than a standard White House news conference.

Some of the questions were tough: reporters asked him about our tarnished image abroad, his fuck up with the Iraq war, his declaration on an aircraft carrier that our mission was accomplished, when clearly it was not, and his handling and response to hurricane Katrina.

Of course he refused to own up to his mistakes. Sure he said he could have done a few things differently here and there (like actually landing his plane in Louisiana after one of the most devastating natural disasters in our country's history) but he never really owned up to the mess that he has left his successor. As has been the case with the frat boy from day one, he was right and everyone else was wrong.

"I think it's a good, strong record.... You know, presidents can try to avoid hard decisions and therefore avoid controversy. That's just not my nature."

Of course not, your "nature" is to stubbornly go into an unnecessary war with a country that had nothing to do with 911 in order to expand the powers of the executive branch and hold on to political power. And it didn't hurt that you had your trusty henchman, Dead eye Dick, riding shotgun to carry out your dastardly deeds every inch of the way.

"The question is, in the long run, will this democracy survive, and that's going to be a question for future presidents.."

He was talking about Iraq, but he might as well have been talking about A-merry-ca. Because after eight years of his awful and detestable administration, I think our democracy is on life support.

Thursday night he will be on prime time giving his final address to the nation. It will be more of the same: Defiance. Denial. Prevarication. One more go round with the frat boy as he tries to win our hearts and make us forget how miserable he has made our lives. It won't work. We will all look at that cocky walk to the podium, that irritating little smirk, and every single one of us will wish it was the year 2000 all over again.

Be careful before you click send.

What if I told you people that a school counselor was fired for sending a general e-mail with alleged racist comments about his O ness, would you have a problem with that? Of course you wouldn't. We cannot tolerate racism in any form or fashion here in A-merry-ca, and people who are insensitive when it comes the issue of race should be made accountable for their actions.

But wait, there is a twist to this story: seems the man who was fired was black, and he is being accused of racism by white folks, for saying in his email, that "Oobviously Blacks Are Moving America". [OBAMA, get it?] And further stating in his e-mail, that "Maybe Caucasians Can Accept It Now." The school board was offended, (sorry Mr. Alexander they don't accept that), and now, like so many other A-merry-cans, he is looking for a job . Why? Because one of Mr. Alexander's co-workers sent an anonymous e-mail to a local television station.

"I was personally offended by the obvious racism in this e-mail... "Please investigate this situation and speak out on behalf of the teachers that were appalled by this e-mail."

Hey, what's good for the goose, right black folks? I mean the school board did fire two workers earlier in the year for using their e-mail to forward a racially insensitive parody of "A Night Before Christmas". So why shouldn't Mr. Alexander get the boot? Oh come on field, is this how it's going to be now in A-merry-ca? Tit for tat with the racism thing? So now that we have a black Prez. we can't say shit about white people anymore? Nope! And we sure as hell cant have Rev. Inc. making a mountain out of Mr. Alexander's mole hill now can we? Hell I thought I was bad. How does Rev. Inc. even find these stories?

Anyway, the man said he didn't send the e-mail and he refuses to go down without a fight. Mr. Alexander said the e-mail might have had his name on it but he didn't send it.....come on now Horace, let's keep it real with each other,. are you telling the field that this was a white folks e-mail set up? So Rev. Inc. is going to South Carolina to bust open the white supremacy e-mail counsel? Let me stop; because there are some deeper issues at work here. The racial minefield in A-merry-ca is only going to get worse as the economy worsens, and as A-merry-cans see more and more images of the chosen one doing his thing.

For what it's worth, I think Horace did send the e-mail, but I don't think it was a fireable offense. I think Horace should have been reprimanded for using his company e-mail to send messages (racist or not) which had nothing to do with his work. He should have been progressively disciplined if the behavior continued and then fired if he did not stop. As for his white co-workers who were supposedly outraged over the e-mail, I say bullshit! That had nothing to do with Horace and everything to do with Obama. But get used to it black people, you have some "power" now, so now you just might be the racist.

Calling Dr. Phil.

Doing like "The Man".

Because I am tired of being accused of being a "race chaser", and because I have come to realize that I am like the party pooper at this post racial A -merry-ca party, I am not going to post about racism anywhere in the world tonight. Nope, I won't mention a word about the racist Prince, or the young black man who was shot in his own driveway because his whip was just too damn nice. I won't even blog about the ignorance that has been taking place in places where people should know better. No sir, not tonight, tonight the field is an eternal optimist; tonight I can see the rainbow. Tonight I want to blog about the plight of black people improving so much in A-merry-ca that whether there is racism or not it won't really mess with our mojo. We will just do like Jigga Man and brush that shit right off of our shoulders.

Tonight I want to blog about the plight of black people improving, but I can't. Not when people we elect to work on our and the countries' behalf do dumb ignorant things to mess it up for all of us. Tonight my ire is directed at one Sheila Dixon (that would be the nattily dressed lady you see in the picture above). The Mayor of the fine city of Baltimore. The land of crab cakes, Ray Lewis, and "The Wire". This seemingly unscrupulous blackguard (no pun intended) allegedly took over $15,000 in gifts that she was not entitled to. And she has been charged with 12 counts of felony thefts, fraud, perjury......let me stop, it sickens me to even write about yet another black poli-trick-ster betraying our trust. Then she allegedly even took gift cards which were meant for needy families.....*sigh*.

Oh field, come one now, you know the man always goes after the black pol. "The Man" does the same thing, but you never hear about it. Anyone who actually believes that "The Man" actually doing the same thing should excuse Ms. Dixon for this type of bullshit behavior, can let us know about it in the comments section. I don't think I want to even speak to that type of idiocy in this post. It's late, and I am pissed, so leaving a lucid post is hard enough as it is.

Oh well, I am going to get some sleep now. I need all the energy I can muster to chase my man "racism".

Is it something he said?

I wonder what the O man has against Howard Dean? I don't mean to diss on the chosen one, but I really have to wonder why the good Doctor is being avoided like a black man at a FOX NEWS party.

Come on O man, show the guy some love. I know what your campaign did with the Internet and modern technology, but let's not forget who started this ball rolling. It was Dean. I think he deserves a lot of credit for being the DNC chair at a time when the dems swept back into Washington.

Yes folks, on a day when his O ness and company was welcoming in the new DNC chair, Tim Kaine, poor Dr. Dean was half way around the world cooling his heals. The Obama people said that they would have invited him, but they knew that he had other travel plans. Yeah right. * me rolling my eyes*.

“..It’s the most puzzling thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” added a longtime Democrat and friend of Dean, echoing the exasperation and befuddlement many close to him feel about his treatment since the election. “I have tried my best through [Obama advisers] Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod and David Plouffe to ask if he ever committed some crime. I don’t get it. He’s been a good soldier....”

Apparently not good enough. Someone needs to get to the bottom of this and tell me why there is no love between his O ness and the good Doctor. Maybe one of you Obamaholics know the real deal. If you do, please tell. Inquiring minds want to know.

I am seeing all these Cabinet posts being filled, and still, no bones for the man who, more than anyone else, (except for the candidate himself and you Obamaholics) was responsible for making this happen. It wasn't Rahm Emanuel (who I hear might be the cause of this rift), it wasn't David Axelrod, and it sure as hell wasn't the rest of the dumbocratic leadership (not even you, black caucus). Health and Human Services? Nope that goes to Tom Daschle. Surgeon General (the man is a Doctor) Nope, that goes to CNN Sanjay . Nothing against Sanjay, he might actually do a fine job, but when his O ness looks to CNN instead of the good Doctor for this position, there is a problem.

So O man, let the good Doctor in the O house, whatever he did to you couldn't have been worse than what Traitor Joe did. And you seem to be chumming up with him again. If it's Rham, tell him to get over his issues with the guy and move one. He deserves that much.

I know you are sitting on top of the world now, but remember, karma can be a bitch.

I bet his O ness doesn't have to put up with this kind of crap.

Poor Charles Tyson, all the guy wanted was to be a good public servant and live out his remaining days with his family in his South Jersey community. But sorry Charles, that type of treatment is reserved for our new President, not small town Mayors from lily white communities. A-merry-ca ain't quite as post racial as we would like it to be just yet.

Charles was the first black Mayor of South Harrison Township, but rather than put up with the constant threats to his family, and racist vandalism, old Charles decided to call it a day.

(Sorry Charlie, only certain black folks get to be race neutral in A-merry-ca) What's sad about this story is that Charles Tyson seemed like such a decent guy. Unfortunately, from the way some morons treated the guy, you would think he was Mike Tyson or something. And then, as is always the case, some of the folks in town said he was playing the"Race Card". (You black people and these race cards) Forget the fact that his tires were slashed, his lawn sign defaced with the words KKK, and the Neo Nazis were making personal phone calls to him. Not good enough to bring out the "Race Card" Charles. That card should only be used in the case of lynchings or when there is blood drawn and actual bodily harm.

And honestly folks, I hate to be (what is it one regular to the fields calls me? ) a "racism chaser", but sometimes racism just won't get out of the damn way.

"It's not that the whole town is racist. It's just that a certain group of people in the town were trying to get to me.."

Oh stop whining and get over it. You are 62 years old: hell when you were a little boy growing up in segregated A-merry-ca; did you think you could grow up to be a Mayor of a white town one day? Of course you didn't. See Charles, that's called progress.

OAKLAND, WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

If you don't know who Oscar Juliuss Grant,III is, I am pretty sure that you will soon. Mr. Grant is the poor gentleman who lost his life at the hands of someone who was supposed to be protecting him. Mr. Grant was shot and killed by a Bay Area Rapid Transit Authority (BART) police officer who was allegedly trying to break up a fight. Shockingly, Mr. Grant, at the time, was unarmed.

Now I am going to answer the comments that I know I am going to get about what a tough job police officers have right now. Yes I know they have a tough and thankless job, yes I know that they are putting their lives on the line to protect us law abiding citizens, and yes I know that most police officers are good hard working people who want to do the right thing.

But.... (oh boy here comes field with the but) come on now, how can we blame folks for being outraged when an unarmed man who was in police custody, and clearly restrained, was shot to death? One of the beautiful things of living in the You Tube era is that we can see damn near everything that happens in the world right on our T.V. screens and computer monitors. And unless someone doctored the tape I saw, it was pretty clear to me that Mr. Grant was already subdued and the officers had the situation well in hand.

But as is always the case with these stories, the boyz in blue are rallying around each other, and cover ups and verbal deception rules the day. Now the authorities are claiming that Mr. Grant was not restrained at the time of the shooting, and there are still quite a few unanswered questions surrounding the incident. Yeah right, and Lark Voorhies could walk by me in the nude and I would never look at her. I mean am I missing something here? I SAW THE TAPE! Even if the man wasn't in handcuffs he was certainly restrained. I don't know about you people, but restrained to me means that the officers have the situation under control, and that the man is going nowhere.

"Several apparent witnesses have disputed that, saying Grant was shot in the back while in handcuffs.."

Oakland we have a problem. Well, actually, it's not only Oakland, seems right here in my hometown of Killadelphia we have this problem as well. So you will excuse me if I am not quite as shocked after watching this video and hearing about this story as you are.

I heard an expert on one of these news shows say that the officer clearly made a mistake and he thought he was reaching for his taser but pulled his gun, instead. If that's the case they need to just come clean and admit it. Yes, there will be a big fat law suit, and the man's little daughter and his family will get paid. But this is the price you pay for incompetence, or, god forbid, something worse . It's just sad that it had to cost someone his life.

Guess who is coming to Washington?

I used to date this girl (a long long time ago....), and she would do the wildest shit. To say she was a drama Queen would be an understatement. She would leave nasty notes on my car; yell outside my door and wake my neighbors; and she once came to my job and had to be removed by security guards. Now most of my cousins reading this can relate, because I guarantee you that at some point in their lives they dated a drama King or Queen. My point is that some black folks love drama. They just do. For instance, Pookie and Tre will never leave the hood because they enjoy the po po coming around too much. Nothing excites people in the hood like seeing the po po, and the drama that they bring. And nothing says drama quite like the po po. It's how we know that "no drama Obama" couldn't be 100% black, he doesn't love drama enough. It's how we know that Bill Clinton just might have been the first black Prez., cause that dude loves him some drama.

Which brings me to the point of this post, Roland Burris. Old Roland rolled into Washington today and he brought plenty of drama. To say the scene was something out of a circus would be an understatement. Reporters running over each other, Roland surrounded by lawyers and enablers, and Roland himself in the middle of it all enjoying his time in the spotlight. (Oh yes, Roland has an ego) See Roland, like the rest of my cousins, loves drama.

But poor Roland, he went to Washington but the The White Club For Men (AKA the U.S. Senate) didn't want his black ass around. "Mr. Burris is not in possession of the necessary credentials from the state of Illinois." Sorry Roland, your paperwork is missing a little signature, we just can't seat you. Still, Roland gave it the good old college try. He actually went into the building and was told by the Secretary of the Senate that his paperwork was lacking. (Leave it to "Bob" to always find a way to keep the black man down)

I said this in a previous post, and I will repeat it here: the dumbocrats should have done everything to let Roland get seated. Because at some point I am pretty sure that it's going to happen. Secretary of State, Jessie White, can't hold off signing Roland's paperwork forever. And that imagery today was just pure ugly. There was Roland, potentially the only person of color to sit in that very white body, standing in the rain, and begging to be let in. There were the Senators, all warm and cozy on the other side, saying no. "I will not be accepted, I will not be seated." No Roland you will not. Not this time.

Personally, I blame Roland for all of this mess. He should have made sure that all of his stuff was together before he headed to Washington. And he should have probably turned down the damn appointment to begin with. (Although the more I learn about Roland, the more I realize that he was never going to do that, which is why I am sure that Blago picked him)But now that the horse has left the barn, or the little man has left Corruptgo, I say let him go on and add a spot to the white backdrop that is the senate. Anything to end this spectacle. Besides, from what I have managed to learn about Roland, this is all he ever wanted: to be able to say that he was a U.S. Senator. The poor guy just wanted to add one more line to his tombstone.
