Is this Daily News columnist racist or just trying to help the President?

After O and company took their "shellacking" this midterm, I started thinking about articles like this ,(h/t to Felecia) and why, in spite of all of that, there was still such a national angst for all things O. I mean I understand the partisanship, and the fact that there is always going to be pretty much an even split when it comes to political affiliations among the voting public. But, given what Obama has done so far in his presidency, this beat down didn't make sense.

Anyway, I saw an opinion piece in my hometown paper which might have left some hints. The author apparently is trying to help his O ness and he proceeds to give him tips on how to win over A-merry-ca. I am not going to go in the order the author gave them for a reason. I want to save the best for last.

"IT WAS BASEBALL pioneer Satchel Paige who warned: "Don't look back. Something may be gaining on you."

In the wake of the midterm elections, that's one bit of advice that President Obama would do well to follow. If his presidency is to survive, he must look forward and must begin to make changes now.

But exactly what should Obama do, and how and why? Five simple suggestions:

1. Dump what's left of the Chicago Gang. Rahm Emanuel's departure was a good first step.

But too many others in the Chicago clique are still around. All pols like to be surrounded by trusted confidantes. In the rough-and-tumble world of politics, loyalty is an understandably treasured commodity.

But the president is different. He's the only public official directly elected by all the American people. Those around him must be attentive to the wide variety of views of a large, diverse society. The president's advisers must present a broad range options in open, vigorous debate.... "

No problem with that one. I kind of agree.

3. "Get rid of the TelePrompTer....... "

OK, I will give you that one as well. But all presidents use the TelePrompTer.

4. "Bring the Grand Tour to a close. After the India trip, the president should stay home and tend to the problems at hand. That means bringing down the curtain on touring, and maybe even vacationing. It also means ending those frequent TV appearances. The president has been overexposed. It took us nearly eight years to develop Clinton fatigue. But Obama fatigue began to set in after only 18 months....."

OK, whatever, reasonable people could argue both sides of this one.

5. "And speaking of Clinton, Obama should have a nice, long sit-down with the former president and elder statesman of the Democrats. Sixteen years ago, Clinton was in the same spot Obama finds himself in today.

Clinton faced a GOP House and Senate after the '94 Republican sweep that was one of the largest turnovers in history till now.

But with surprising speed, Clinton shook up his staff and moved toward the center. He listened to new people and embraced new ways. And he became a relatively popular two-term president. So call in Clinton. And sit down and listen."

More Clinton nostalgia, I get it.

2. "Lose the strut and the condescension. The president has a way of pushing himself up on the balls of his feet as he walks. I call it "the strut," and I suspect I'm not alone in finding it oft-putting. Along with this strut comes an air of condescension.

Mr. President, those who don't agree with you aren't your enemies. And they aren't misguided or distracted or paralyzed by fear or blinded by anger. (And they aren't necessarily clinging to guns and religion, either.)

When you dismiss or trivialize "we the people," you mock the very foundation of our democracy." [Article]

This one was actually number two, but I saved it for last for a reason.

LOSE THE STRUT!!!??? WTF? Alright folks, you can put on your Air R's for this one. Honestly, do these clowns writing in major newspapers even realize how utterly stupid, unenlightened, and ignorant they sound?

Look, I have mad love for the Daily News,--- they link the field for crying out loud, but some of their opinion writers must have been asleep since 1949 and just woke up. "STRUT"?
Wow, stereotypes really die hard. One of the few things I liked about Bush was his walk. It exuded confidence. (Even if he was one of the dumbest people on the planet.) Watch him when you get a chance, he had quite the bounce in his step, just like Obama.

For the record, Obama's walk (if I might get in touch with my feminine side a little) has a certain (sex) appeal to it. I know because the females tell me so. They say the same thing about Denzel Washington and Idris Elba, who both have distinctive walking styles. (They both also have something else in common with the president; but I will leave the obvious alone.) There is nothing unusual about a man who walks with confidence. Unless, of course, he happens to be the first black president.

If you are of a certain persuasion and you secretly resent this Negro having power over your life, that walk says f*&^ you! I am in charge and you are not! You resent it because the Negro president should be more appreciative of his position and who put him there.

"The president has a way of pushing himself up on the balls of his feet as he walks. I call it "the strut," and I suspect I'm not alone in finding it oft-putting. Along with this strut comes an air of condescension."

No Daniel, you are not alone. I am sure that many of your fellow A-merry-cans feel the same way.

Field you are dead on point about the walk...back in the day we used to call it "The Bop" and yes it was a walk that said "I got this!!" Other than that one, his suggestions are not off base. I particularly like and agree with the suggestion of sitting down and having a pow wow wow with Bill. Bill is a political animal and knows the landscape...it wouldn't hurt to get some advice.

Frank Schaeffer, a refugee of wacko-doo movements and self-absorbed ideologues, has a point in his blog. The Ralph Naders and John Boehners of the world have always wanted Obama to fail - because his success would mean that both sides would have to question their own pre-determined notions about politics that have no bearing in reality (the Right Wing nuts would have to admit that government isn't always bad and business interests run amok are no good for the American people, the Left Wing cranks would have to admit that you can acheive progressive ideas and improve the country with consulting the same old play book from the 70's and that sometimes compromise is a good thing.)

The 'News' media - the chatter class has made a good penny bashing and nitpicking the President.

Stop the Bop? I'm with you Field, as a black professional often told that he's "too arrogant and harsh" I hear 'uppity Nigger'. Nothing wrong with a President swagger - except when he's a light-skinned Black guy, then that Swagger is a little too much.

Nanette said...

He does have *some* good suggestions, perhaps with a bit of modification - though I think there really is little way Obama can connect with some Americans, no matter what he does (unless it's offer to serve them at dinner.) Sadly, it doesn't seem to matter whether they are on the right or left, in some instances.

On the other topic... get rid of the strut?? Oh, man. I had to chime in on this one. One of the joys of life is watching some Black men walk, Obama included. Sometimes.

Almost OT, I confess a totally selfish reason I hate those saggy, baggy pants (besides, of course, my being old and "out of it".) Instead of a generation of young Black men growing up walking with that distinctive Black man's rolling strut (or Bop, as Gua put it), some of them, their signature walk is more like a hopping waddle.

Sigh.

cruciangal said...

Hmmm..so it is akin to the bop? I thought that was an island thing. I suppose it's innocuous to say strut as opposed to bop that has a more stereotypical connotation. Why don't some people just get it off their chests and call him a nigger already? They would feel so much better about themselves in addition to ridding themselves of this anger they've been harboring for the last two years.

Chairman Soetoro said...

People on the left were constantly going on about how they hated how Bush walked, how arrogant and cocky it made him look. In fact, the word "strut" was the most common description.

Unlike Field, I don't get aroused watching his O-ness walk. In fact, he seems to me to something of a dweeb. Today, the New York Times published an article wherein they said young Barry was referred to by his Indonesian classmates as the "boy who runs like a duck."

The article also revealed that "His nanny was an openly gay man who, in keeping with Indonesia's relaxed attitudes toward homosexuality, carried on an affair with a local butcher, longtime residents said. The nanny later joined a group of transvestites called Fantastic Dolls, who, like the many transvestites who remain fixtures of Jakarta's streetscape, entertained people by dancing and playing volleyball."

Just when it seemed impossible that any more unsavory characters could be found in Obama's shrouded background, we get this.

You gotta give it to this guy, deadbeat drunk Kenyan dad, absent self-absorbed hippy mom, marxist pedophile boyhood mentor (Frank Davis), typical white person grandparents, terrorist buddies (Ayers, Dohrn), a racist, America-hating spiritual mentor, a transvestite babysitter, and he STILL becomes President.

What a country!

LACoincidental said...

It wasn't the strut of Bush that bothered liberals, 'Chairman', the walk was merely part of a whole annoying package - a complete and history screw up of a leader too obtuse and self-absorbed to learn from his mistake.

George W. Bush is still defending his 'yellow cake' Big Lie about Iraq which even he said was nonsense three years ago? His worse moment was a pissed Pop artist calling the President on his crap as he watched hundreds of people drown out of political negligence?

Gua and Nanette, I co-sign with you that dude had a couple of good points. (even a broken clock...) I liked number one.

I have to agree with the columnist that Obama is perceived as arrogant and out-of-touch.

Travelling overseas this week I was asked, several times, why Obama always has his nose up in the air when he speaks. The body language crosses many cultural boundaries.

Arrogance is not the same as confidence.

"Confidence"

"Arrogance" usually stems from a lack of self-confidence and a fragile ego.

There is a huge difference.

My view of Obama as an arrogant, inexperienced intellectual lightweight has nothing to do with the color of his skin. I would have the same feelings about John "Reporting for Duty" Kerry. I loathe Kerry and his harridan wife.

Not everyone who has issues with Obama is "threatened" by a black man (or beige man) in the WH, as comforting as that idea may be to some on the blog. Some of us simply don't like him for what he is and how he views America.

Karen said...

"Confidence" is always very sexy.

Chairman Soetoro said...

@ LAC: I will not get on the side of an argument defending George Bush.

That being said, Bush never lied about the attempts of Iraq to obtain uranium from Niger; please see Christopher Hitchens extensive writings at the time of this manufactured "scandal".

field negro said...

"Some of us simply don't like him for what he is and how he views America."

How does he view America?

Chairman Soetoro said...

"How does he view America?"

Obama views America through the eyes of an outsider, one who feels America is too powerful, too confident, and needs to be taken down a peg or two. He decries the notion of American exceptionalism, and seeks to guide us to a much more limited, unexceptional future.

Field,
I know you provided the columnist's name in the labels, but was there a reason why you didn't provide one of your convenient links to the whole article? I see you did provide many quotes in italics.

But I did notice that a google search of the 'Philadelphia Daily News' identified it as a "tabloid", not that that is a bad thing....

..as for criticising the walk, well
that is like criticising a person's accent...it shouldn't be done, except in gentle humor.

Maybe the writer was giving Obama what he perceives as constructive criticism.

If we're discussing the President's gate, I don't have a problem with his walk. I do however think he looks like a doofus walking down stairs.

Have you ever seen him walking down the stairs getting off Air Force One?

He holds both of his hands in front at center, it looks really odd. Lol

Field, "For the record, Obama's walk (if I might get in touch with my feminine side a little) has a certain (sex) appeal to it. I know because the females tell me so."

All of that talk about Obama's 'walk' came out of the indiscriminate mouths of SOME lusting immature bw. Before then, NO ONE noticed or cared how he walked. But it was obvious that their persistent stupid yapping about his walk was inevitably going to add to the ALREADY mounting problems Obama was having as the first Black President in racist America.

To claim that the Prez has that 'walk from the hood' was certainly going to construed negatively to a lot of Americans, including a lot of Blacks... Who wants a Prez who walks like he is from the ghetto?

Furthermore, that so-called 'exaggerated black strut' IS NOT about a bm with "confidence", it IS about a cover up for a "lack" of confidence.

I wish those bw talking about it would STFU, and let the Prez walk in peace like any other Presiden-- without making it a racial thing. As Black Americans, we should know that we live in a racist nation. Obama has enough problems on his plate as the first Black President of the USA. He doesn't need any more from the dumb-ass Black peanut gallery.

As Black Americans, we should be "helping" Obama, not hindering him. Obama was walking just fine until SOME ignorant lusting sistas started some stupid immature sexual bullshit about his walk.

One thing Obama's Presidency has taught me: 'There are some dumb ass Negroes in our race who can rival the stupidity of the dumbest rednecks.'

Field, instead of criticizing the writer who probably knew NOTHING about a bm "walk" before,-- how about criticizing 'those' non-discriminating big mouth sistas who started this stupid crap in the first place?

I shall wait for my ass whipping from LAA.:)

Still blaming bush for the weather, are we. There was nothing the federal government could have done to save anyone from drowning. The city government refused to evacuate, and the state government refused to allow federal troops in prior to landfall.

The Obama adminstration couldn't even handle the BP oil spill, which actaully was a federal responsibility. They turned away all sorts of help and advice that would have minimized the impact. Just think how much worse the federal response to Katrina would have been under the current joke of an administration.

Some Americans still refuse to abandon the idea that America is the greatest nation on earth. Unfortunately, our President is not one of them. What future awaits a country whose leader is committed to its decline?

Nothing is too outlandish...everything is looked at if you are the First Black President.

Yes, people like Chairman claim he decries exceptionalism. In their microscopic minds Obama couldn't have possibly made all of those academic accomplishments and been in charge of an Ivy League University's law review...not without the magic wand of affirmative action. The mere fact that he's had a better run at life and has been more successful than they'll ever be runs counter to the white supremacist world view. Whoa. I think we must be speaking of two (or more!) different things. "walk from the hood"? "exaggerated black strut"? It is possible that someone here has issues. (You don't wear saggy pants by any chance, do you?)

The walk I am talking about (with my "lusting bw" self, lol) can be seen on Black men from every social strata from Lago to London to Los Angeles.

And I can assure you, some white (and other) folk's discomfort with Obama's walk, his stance, his tendency to hold his head up, to speak in complete sentences, whatever, has nothing at all to do with what Black women (or men, for that matter) say or don't say about these matters.

If anything it's a reaction to some young (and older) people's fascination with his perceived "coolness." That sort of thing (non-Black youth viewing Black people in general as "cool", especially powerful ones) is apt to give some people heartburn. Me, I'm with the poster up above - I've always thought Obama had too many dorky moments to be thought all that cool.

All that aside, the idea that by his very stride he is perceived to be condescending toward whoever (whomever?) it is he is supposed to be condescending to is just ridiculous. Uppity by another name, is all.

Er. There is nothing in what you posted that testifies to the unsavoryness of anyone's character. Granted, an "affair" usually means that one of the parties is married but, if so, it seems like it would have been the butcher. Otherwise, though, there is nothing "unsavory" about being an openly Gay man, and the transvestite entertainment group sounds like it could be fun to watch.

I don't know how much Obama remembers his nanny, but I think it falls on the credit side that he was exposed to people of different cultures, beliefs and sexual/affection orientation in his younger years.

Despite G.W. Bush's "legacy" and upbringing in relative privilege in a relatively privileged family, people weren't threatened of him when he was in the Oval Office. Americans really don't like people who seem clearly smarter than them, especially when it comes through in such a crystal-clear "I know better than you" type of way. Not saying that's how Obama feels, but it comes off that way sometimes. Bush was more or less "average" and people seem to like that sort of averageness in their prezes.

And as far as Obama being "intimidating" because of his skin co.....damnit! I told myself those Air Rs were gonna stay on the shelf today.

They're going to oppose him no matter what he does and if he looks like he's sucking up he'll lose black Americans..

_____

hobama has been the most radical republican ever!!!

President Clinton skillfully triangulated his own Democrats, seeking to position himself between the party’s liberal-ish core and the Republicans, thus moving the center of political gravity rightward through the Nineties. Obama, whose first major act while still a candidate was to save the Bush bank bailout after it failed a first vote in October, 2008, has elevated Clinton-style triangulation to what he hopes passes for statesmanship. Obama likes to calls it “non-partisan,” “consensus-building” politics and other variations on the theme, but the result is always the same: the fundamental interests of corporations are protected at the beginning of the process, which can only end with the people in worse shape than before it started. This is how a broad and deep public demand for comprehensive health reform was transformed into a guaranteed, subsidized, central role in the national health system for the hated insurance and drug companies for the foreseeable future.

Obama, a genius at creating opportunities for himself while undermining the life prospects of others, invented the deficit reduction commission as his customized vehicle to subvert his own party’s cherished “entitlement” programs: Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, and others. Republicans didn’t force his hand or box him in. Instead, Obama set the torpedoes in motion against entitlements in the days before his inauguration, declaring, on January 8, 2009, that an overhaul of Medicare and Social Security would be “a central part” of his presidency. Not long afterwards, he said that Social Security and other entitlements would be “on the table” for cutting. All this, before any Republican had blurted an angry word about Obama in congressional debate.

FacebookTwitterDiggRedditDeliciousBloggerE-Mail.The apologists for Obama and the Republican “resurgence”
6 November 2010
The outcome of the 2010 midterm elections is an indictment of the apologists for Barack Obama and the Democratic Party.

As a result of the November 2 elections, in which the Republican Party regained control of the House of Representatives and picked up seats in the Senate, the entire political system in the US has shifted farther to the right. The consequences for millions of working people will be severe, as the attack on social conditions and democratic rights is intensified and military violence is employed even more aggressively around the world.

Two years ago, a variety of “left” and liberal forces strove to convince those sections of the population over whom they had influence that the Obama campaign represented a watershed in American politics and that under his administration the policies of war, attacks on jobs and social programs, and the shredding of Constitutional rights would come to an end.

The Nation magazine and others painted Obama, a thoroughly conventional bourgeois politician with a track record of subservience to the Democratic Party machine in Illinois and to big business, as a “progressive” who would turn America around. This effort, which combined self-deception and deliberate falsification, helped generate illusions in Obama and lull the population to sleep.

What are the results? Obama, given a free hand by his left-liberal apologists, steered a right-wing, pro-big business course from his first day in office (and even before). In the face of the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression, the administration bailed out Wall Street while doing nothing for the millions of unemployed and impoverished workers and the legions of families facing the loss of their homes.

Every major action taken by Obama and the Democrats has guaranteed the resurgence of the right. In November 2008, millions of working people went to the polls to repudiate the Bush administration. The Republican Party suffered a humiliating defeat, resulting in Democratic control of the White House and large Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress.

One could not imagine more favorable political conditions for the smashing of the Republican right, assuming the victorious president and party had any desire to do so. None of those who are now insisting that working people and youth devote their efforts to pressuring Obama to “stand up to the right” address an obvious question: If he was unable and unwilling to do it in 2008, why should anyone believe he will do it now?

@ AB: What was Obama supposed to say about Oscar Grant?

Oscar Grant did not deserve to die, but his getting shot was mostly his own fault. If the police tell you to stay down, and you get up, expect to get shot.

I have been in situations like that and got kicked in the head for a smartass remark. You cannot fight the law and win. I see dumbasses do it all the time, makes them feel good to act like punks to the police - eventually you get shot.

Obama was right no to step in this - sad as it is, there is nothing to be said.

Now is the time to leverage Obama real hard as Black Americans after his mid term beatdown he got to get ours before he is gone.... I contributed to the breaking of the color line and I expect to leverage and take advantage of my efforts and my work over decades in seeking to make our country live up to its ideals.

Yet I have encountered a number of people with the opinion that black people should not seek to press our new president based upon his hue and cultural footprints.

Now, from my vantage point such a posture and position is foolish, silly and counterproductive on many levels. It makes no sense not to capitalize on a product I helped polish for mass consumption. Black America poured cultural capital into Prez Obama because part of his being is the creation of black America. We were not only his cultural mentors but his landscape and soil.

Black Americans were his practice dummies on the field of America’s racial games.

Those who clamor to the obsolete mantra of a color blind America are living in an obsolete world and there is nothing progressive about ignoring the obvious and raw truth of reality and the fact of race in our society. From my platform, to be truly progressive is to acknowledge the existence of one’s race and then not be a bigot.

Obama is a person of color. He is a nonwhite president and as such he has a relationship with nonwhites, whether he likes it or not. I have no respect for those who seek to dismiss and deflect and ignore the obvious about race and its role in our nation and now in the White House. I have no reservations nor will I have any regrets when people accuse me of playing the ‘race card” with Obama.

Black Americans who have endured centuries of race-based contempt and now expect us to ignore it, when we have suffered and died for this moment, are an insult and an affront to universal truth. It is a human condition to seek a bond and relationship with others who share your experience. I offer no apology nor will I moderate or remain passive in seeking to leverage Obama in the White House.

Black Americans should ignore and dismiss those who claim we are seeking revenge, payback, reparations and special treatment as we seek to leverage our Black agenda in an Obama-era White House. I offer no apology at all in my quest to leverage Obama in the White House; it is what Americans have done for 43 administrations prior to an Obama White House.

Let's pimp walk with Obama right here..right now

Chairmen of Obama deficit panel propose cuts in Social Security, Medicare

By Tom Eley

11 November 2010

The chairmen of the bipartisan commission appointed by President Obama to rein in US deficit spending on Wednesday released a proposal that would include new taxes on consumption and employee health care benefits and cuts to the federal old-age insurance programs, Social Security and Medicare, and to the jobs and pay of government workers. It would at the same time include massive tax cuts for the rich and for corporations.

we want hobama to be more than a bankster!!!

These circumstances make the content of the discussion that much more remarkable. Obama has given no accounting of the debacle for the Democrats. He has not explained how his administration managed to restore the political standing of an ultra-right Republican Party that was totally discredited only two years ago. Nor has he warned his former supporters of the dangers to jobs, living standards and democratic rights from a newly empowered right-wing majority in the House of Representatives.

Instead, he went on national television to conciliate big business and embrace the concerns of the Tea Party right wing, declaring them politically legitimate.

To describe Obama as chastened by defeat would be an exaggeration, since it might suggest that before the election he had been engaged in an aggressive campaign against his opponents. He was low-key, conciliatory and, above all, prostrate before corporate America, whose servant he is.

While liberal apologists for Obama like the Nation magazine treat him as a “progressive” who has unaccountably gone astray, or lost his voice, the man interviewed on “60 Minutes” was a deeply conventional, conservative politician without a trace of radicalism in his thinking.

Even at its previous $5.1 billion funding level, LIHEAP was woefully underfunded. In March 2010, David Fox of the National Low-Income Energy Consortium told the World Socialist Web Site that during years in which LIHEAP received the maximum amount of federal financing allowed by law, the program was only able to serve 20 percent of all eligible households nationwide.

The skyrocketing demand for emergency assistance is an expression of the depth of the economic crisis. According to an annual survey conducted by the NEADA, “60 percent of LIHEAP recipients reported that the primary reason they had trouble paying their energy bill in 2009 was because they had lost their job or had reduced income (up from 37 percent in 2008).”

One caveat, Obama always said he was going to expand Afghanistan. I don't like it, but I'm not shocked either.

Maria, there's difference not agreeing with the President and undermining the man because he doesn't follow an outdated liberal governance guide and simply being too strident in your viewpoints.

Let's not pretend that folks like Greenwald, Nader, Amy Goodman and other liberal wonks were downplaying Obama before he even announced his campaign for President. Some where bitter Hilary supporters looking for the return of the Clinton Camelot, others were old activist warhorses who were clamoring for a Kuicinich/Gravel run (which would have handed the GOP the White house).

Also, compromise is how politics works - strong arming only goes so far. I think Lawrence O'Donnell put it succinctly last week when he took on Mark Greenwald on Morning Joe. Liberals (people like me you, UTS, Thrasher, AB; pretty much everyone this board who isn't a neo-conservative troll) at best make up 21% of the population and are concentrated in key districts throughout the country. Conservatives make up 40% of the country and cover more ground in terms of electoral seats. And moderates make up 39% of the country.

If you want to win stuff and make progress, you must have moderates at the table to back your play. That's not called 'compromised' or selling out, its simply math, 21+39 > 40. Blue Dogs are annoying, but they're the only wiggle room liberals actually have.

If Obama went with all chips in for the public option - he probably would have got nothing, because moderate deficit hawks would have screamed bloody murder and ran to the GOP for cover.

It sucks, but nothing is perfect and when all things are balanced, this has been one of the most liberal Congress sessions in at 30 years.

We agree to disagree.

"Now it's his white half's time to be president."

No, it will never be time for that. He's just getting started.

Recent photos of Obama have been alarming; they depict a man boiling over with rage. Have we ever witnessed a U.S. president so pugnacious, so incensed and inflamed by his own people?

But to Obama, we are not his people; this is everything you need to know about Barack Obama in a nutshell. Although Obama was marketed as the post-racial, biracial uniter, this is not the man behind the mask.

For his adult mentor, Obama picked Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Then Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Wright is a fan of Black Liberation Theology. BLT teaches that blacks are God's Chosen People, with whites inferior and wicked.

By choosing this church over all others, Obama made a pivotal life decision. For seventeen years, Obama sat in the pews of Trinity consuming the vitriol of racial hate. In one sermon after another, Rev. Jeremiah Wright invoked the specters of slavery and Jim Crow, resurrecting a war that, for him, had never ended.

In his autobiography, Obama lets slip a fascination with something that the biracial Malcolm X once said. Malcolm was so repulsed by his white ancestry that he daydreamed about draining the white blood from his body.

One must wonder: by Obama's choosing Trinity, a church where his own mother wouldn't have been welcome, was he trying to exorcise the evil white spirit in him? And by joining that church, did he finally leave his repugnant white side behind at Trinity's door?
When Obama tells black voters that he's freeing them from slavery, this is not hyperbole; he means it. But he's not referring to liberal politics that has only decimated the black culture.

Obama means this: he will put the final nail in the coffin of American exceptionalism. He will end the Civil War. And he will do it his way: by trying to break the backs and the spirits of the white oppressors.

do you get what i am saying?

To: Mr. Field, and ALL Field Negroes who think Obama's "strut" is one of "confidence",-- please read the link below. That walk of "confidence" doesn't seem to match his behavior:

bush still can't put words in logical order...despite his multiple legacy degrees. Obama uses English in a manner that obviously flies well above the heads of most teabaggerites. I suspect part of their anger at him being so uppity and all...is that they see those eveel Librul literates getting the joke...and they and their friends don't.

Anon, after reading the article, ALL members on this blog, esp. Maria, Field, and one or two anons-should apologize to AB, because she has been right about Obama all along. While the rest of you Obama kool-aid drinkers have been in denial.

AB has been a genius in this matter. Recognize her as such.

Maria, why must you and your anon friends attack poor AB for speaking the truth?

What about Obama running the country??????? What about that...?
