Field, I was having a great XMAS until I saw your post. What the hell is wrong with you? Don't you know that you don't call Jesus Christ "JC"...it is downright blasphemy and a big sin. Don't you ever get tired of sinning? That fire in hell is going to be real red hot for your ass.
Anyway, have a Merry Xmas here on earth because you won't be having any in hell.
Dear Mr. Field, I appreciate you wishing everyone an enjoyable time with their families. But quite frankly, I really don't enjoy mine. In fact, I dread the holidays because I don't want to be bothered by some of my jackass relatives.
Now I know how we folks like to pretend we really enjoy our family get togethers but for a lot of us Negroes that is a pile of BS. I don't enjoy it and I can't wait for this shit to be over with so things can get back to normal and my depression lifted.
One other thing: Stop calling Jesus Christ "JC". You know better.
I still want JC to explain why his Dad and himself drowned all those Japanese school children. I thought JC's dad was supposed be omnipotent and omnipresent.
So why did a supposedly merciful God allow that to happen? Either God is a malevolent, evil despot, or he's a racist.

Christopher Sullivan, 22, was shot late Friday while trying to break up a fight between his brother and another man at a San Bernardino, Calif., residence.
"My son didn't deserve this. He served his country," his mother, Suzanne Sullivan, told the San Bernardino Sun (http://bit.ly/sjycMA ).
Suzanne Sullivan said her son suffered two gunshot wounds to his back, which shattered his spine. Family members told the newspaper that the shooting late Friday left Sullivan paralyzed and in critical condition.

Nigerians fear more church attacks after 39 killed

MADALLA, Nigeria (AP) - At a Nigerian Catholic church where a terror attack killed 35 people on Christmas, women tried to clean the sanctuary ahead of Mass on Monday while one man wept uncontrollably amid the debris.
Outside St. Theresa Catholic Church, crowds gathered among the burned-out cars in the dirt parking lot, angry over the attack claimed by a radical Muslim sect and fearful that the group will target more churches.
Rev. Father Christopher Jataudarde told The Associated Press that Sunday's blast happened as church officials gave parishioners white powder as part of a tradition celebrating the birth of Christ.
Some already had left the church at the time of the bombing, causing the massive casualties. In the chaos after the bombing, Jataudarde said one mortally wounded man, cradling his shredded stomach, begged him for religious atonement.
"Father, pray for me, I will not survive," the man said, according to the priest.
At least 52 people were wounded in the attack, said Slaku Luguard, a coordinator with Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency. Victims filled the cement floors of a nearby government hospital, some crying in pools of their own blood.
On Christmas, attacks by the radical Muslim sect left 39 dead across Africa's most populous nation. A bomb also exploded amid gunfire in the central Nigeria city of Jos and a suicide car bomber attacked the military in the nation's northeast.
After the bombings, a Boko Haram spokesman using the nom de guerre Abul-Qaqa claimed responsibility for the attacks in an interview with The Daily Trust, the newspaper of record across Nigeria's Muslim north. The sect has used the newspaper in the past to communicate with public.
"There will never be peace until our demands are met," the newspaper quoted the spokesman as saying.
"We want all our brothers who have been incarcerated to be released; we want full implementation of the Sharia system and we want democracy and the constitution to be suspended."
Okay, so the guy who said calling Jesus Christ "JC" is blasphemous is wrong by any theological interpretation. However, abbreviating Christmas by saying "Xmas" IS considered incorrect, and though not blasphemous, is considered equally offensive to "JC" in most theological circles. Fortunately, JC taught us to forgive hypocrites, especially on Xmas.
To the Purple Cow - The 'problem of evil' is one of the oldest questions connected with religion. Why do bad things happen to good people if God is loving? All the religions have their different answers for that one. All I can say, is you and I are not the first persons to ask it, and yeah, they've covered that. It's not sufficient to disprove the existence of God, however. For one thing, we might suppose God created the laws of physics governing earthquakes. We might also suppose that if he's eternal and our souls are eternal, all of us dying isn't the number one concern on his list - anymore than who wins the Super Bowl. According to most religious dogma, he's more interested in how we live than how or when we die. I'm an agnostic, so I'm not saying I believe or disbelieve one way or another. You're not alone in your compassion for the innocents, though - and if there is a God, I'd say he's got some explaining to do.
Lastly, in response to the current events: People sure seem equal in blame, at any rate. We sure love our macho blood-sports, don't we? A soldier is killed at a football party. Conflict, conflict, conflict. Muslims bomb some Christians. More conflict. Why don't we just stop thinking if it doesn't cost blood it's worthless? Like, as a species? What I'm saying is, I see macho conflict woven all into those things. That's why I stay home and don't go to football parties or to church - which are basically the same thing, btw.

"Real talk: Daniel Rubin has a great little piece up wherein he chats with The Field Negro, the Philly-based blogger who sharply ponders all things black on a daily basis. (Seriously, if you’ve never checked in with TFN, you should: Its author, Wayne Bennett, is a fantastic read who can cut through bullshit like a hot knife through butter, which is a far grosser analogy than I wanted to make, but there you have it.)" ~Philebrity~
"One of the most precocious and hilarious Black political minds on the net. Ive been a long-time fan!" ~Asad Malik~
"..While most of what he writes is tongue-in-cheek, his space is a safe house for candid discussions about race, especially in the comments section, where people of all colors meet." ~~Daniel Rubin, "The Philadelphia Inquirer"~~
"To white people, Bennett's musings are like kitchen-table talk from a kitchen they may otherwise never set foot in. To African Americans, he is part of a growing army of black Internet amateurs who have taken up the work once reserved for ministers and professional activists: the work of setting a black agenda, shaping black opinion and calling attention to the state of the nation's racial affairs."
~~Richard Fausset, "L.A. Times"~~~
"That's why I love the blog "Field Negro" so much. Field, as he's known to his fans, has the sense of reality that it takes to call out the (CowPuckey) of blame beating by those who are in positions of power and their lackeys. Because of his handle and his unabashed way of writing about racial issues, Field is often cited as a "Black blogger." What he is, however, is a first-class detector of blame deflection and an excellent student of history. If you want to write about the past and future of repression there's really no other perspective to take - which is why everyone should read Field."

"Half a century after Little Rock, the Montgomery bus boycott and the tumultuous dawn of the modern civil rights era, the new face of the movement is Facebook, MySpace and some 150 black blogs united in an Internet alliance they call the AfroSpear.
Older, familiar leaders such as Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond, are under challenge by a younger generation of bloggers known by such provocative screen names as Field Negro, thefreeslave and African American Political Pundit. And many of the newest struggles are being waged online." ~Howard Witt-The Chicago Tribune~
"I had no idea, for example, of the extent of the African-American blogging world out there and its collective powers of dissemination. But now, after reading thousands of anguished, thoughtful comments posted on these blogs reflecting on issues of persistent racial discrimination in the nation's schools and courtrooms, what's clear to me is that there's a new, "virtual" civil rights movement out there on the Internet that can reach more people in a few hours than all the protest marches, sit-ins and boycotts of the 1950s and 60s put together." ~Chicago Tribune Reporter, Howard Witt~
