Visible portions showed that the F.B.I. in stark terms had told the intelligence court that Mr. Page “has established relationships with Russian government officials, including Russian intelligence officers”; that the bureau believed “the Russian government’s efforts are being coordinated with Page and perhaps other individuals associated with” Mr. Trump’s campaign; and that Mr. Page “has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian government.”
While there is a reference to the Steele dossier, the documents refute the argument by the Republicans that the warrants were based solely on it, by also mentioning evidence that Russian agents were trying to recruit Page as far back as 2013.
It also should be mentioned that based on past interactions with Christopher Steele the agency found him “reliable” and that they believed reporting in the dossier was “credible.”
At this point, it should also be pointed out that so far nothing in the Steele dossier has proven to be untrue.
Much of the information is redacted, but there is enough to suggest that the FBI had ample reason to place Page under surveillance.
