I'm a Californian and I have read about Orr. I believe his motive was to gain praise and promotions for rushing to fires and putting them out. According to what I read, Orr would stop along his route, set a fire, leave the scene, and report the fire. Then he would rush back to the fire and try to put it out.
Quite a clever scam until he got caught.
It's not 100% certain at this point, but it looks like some black dude decided to run over a bunch of random people in Waukesha with his car, just because he was angry about the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict.

I'm not into killing people, but if I was there would be lots of dead folks as I am and always have been since I was nine years old well armed and capable with any of the nine firearms I own.
Having grown up in the national forests of Northern California, and having a father who worked for the US Forest Service for thirty years, I would last longer than most if left to my devices in the wilderness, and being a machinist, welder, and metal fabricator, building things is sort of second nature to me. As a musician, I taught myself electronics, and can design, trace, dip, stuff and mount circuit boards in most electronic applications, although that way of doing things is long out of date. Stuff still works when I plug it in, though.
The USA isn't coming apart at the seams, no matter how much you wish it were, it's just going through some more growing pains, the likes of which have always been with us from the massively flawed founding through each successive improvement we have struggled and implemented. At each of those times, folks thought the end was nigh also, but so far so what. Some flawed chunks of society just die out. You don't see any Whigs around any more, or any of their begotten Know Nothings. Things change, and in the overall, they tend to get a little better over time.
That's not to say the Republican party isn't a danger to the republic, it very much is, but the results of its misdeeds are far more likely to simply fuck up the lives of lots of ordinary citizens than they are to end our democratic experiment.
But god damn it, those lives don't need to be fucked up, and most of that suffering is needless, and if we can stop it, we will, so be ready for it. It's what we're about, really.
