November third is almost here, and the talking heads and political junkies at news outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and FOX are losing their minds. This is their Super Bowl. All of the pontificators seem to be saying that the Dems are going to put belt to ass on the Republicans, and that one if not two branches of congress will be sure to change hands. We will see.
Frankly, I am not so optimistic, it would be nice, but the type of beat down that folks are predicting just does not seem possible to me. We live in a country of tribes who are beholden to their political camps regardless of how despicable and morally depraved their chosen leaders are. In Texas, for instance, Ken Paxton is still seen as leaning towards victory against James Talarico. Paxton is openly corrupt, and is such a bad candidate that high profile Republicans in Texas have come out against him. And yet, he still has a very good chance of winning on Tuesday. Donald Trump endorsed him, and for the MAGA cult, that's all they needed to see.
And speaking of Trump, can someone tell me why this man has spent the last few weeks praising the derriere of certain men, and objectifying and degrading in the most course way imaginable, Nicki Minaj's butt? He literally told her to stand up so that the people in the crowd could see her. (I got slave auctions vibes from that one.) Seriously America, what are we doing here? This is our President?! Really?!
As I watch Trump go from state to state, bullying journalists, and trying to fire up his cult, I can't help but think that I am watching the last act of a man who is just days away from opening up the cyanide laced Kool-Aid barrel to force his supporters to take a drink. Of course, Jim Jones gave it to his flock for free. Trump will probably have the families of his dead supporters pay for what it cost him to prepare it. It all looks so desperate and pathetic. The last gasp of a desperate man. He has nothing to run on. he can blame that on his unnecessary and reckless war with Iran to distract from the Epstein files, his tariffs, and his cabinet filled with unserious people. Americans are suffering, and no matter how much he tries to distract from what families are feeling in their wallets, it will always comes back to the fact that Americans are feeling the pain of his policies in their pocketbooks.
Hopefully the demagoguery of hate, Islamophobia, and silly pointless cultural red herring scare tactics, will not work this time. People want real solutions to their pocketbook problems. It's all about affordability, not trans- gendered athletes in women's sports, not legal hard working immigrants taking your house or eating your pets, and not some Muslim bogeyman who is going to shoot up your school or your place of worship.
We will see is if Tuesday will bring a reckoning for the cult and its leader. Or, if once again the American people will choose self-destruction over common sense. One thing is for sure, Trump is already setting the stage to say that the election was rigged if he loses, and he will once again try to use the power of the federal government to back up his claims. It's already started in Alaska and California. And the administration will try to place armed federal agents at polling places to intimidate and suppress potential voters. (FYI: They are not allowed unless armed enemies of the United States is attacking said polling place) Given Trump's approval numbers, and the mood in the country, it would seem like the only way that the Republicans can wake up Wednesday morning and feel good about what happened on Tuesday, is if Mr. Trump's aforementioned tactics actually works. We will see.
I see that lots of you have already done your early voting, and that's a good thing. Here in Georgia and other Southern states, black folks have voted early in record numbers, so the scare tactics don't seem to be working on black folks, you all know the assignment. Sadly, it's those 'other folks' I worry about.
Happy Halloween! Shout out to KitKat bars.
