NYPD blues.

Cops under investigation after hitting unarmed teen with gunThe hits (no pun intended) just keep coming.

I was hoping to post about something positive to you field hands to help you get over hump day, but unfortunately reality calls.

Once again I bring you stories of the police declaring war on young black men.

"Two cops have been disciplined after a disturbing video surfaced showing a 16-year-old boy pistol-whipped and beaten by cops — and now criminal charges could follow.

A Brooklyn grand jury will begin hearing evidence in the case as early as next week, the Daily News has learned.

The video, taken around 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 29, showed Kahreem Tribble running from police, slowing down and apparently attempting to surrender on St. John’s Place in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He came to a complete stop on the sidewalk.

That’s when one of the cops, identified as Tyrane Isaac, threw a wild haymaker at Tribble’s head. The teen put his hands up. A second cop, David Afanador, then appears to crack the teen with his gun.

Tribble suffered several broken teeth, swelling and mouth injuries, sources told The News.

“These police officers behaved themselves in a truly deplorable manner,” said the boy's lawyer Amy Rameau. “This type of conduct should not be tolerated and I want to see them prosecuted for what they did to my client.”

Tribble was arrested for marijuana possession after he was seen tossing 17 zip-lock bags containing marijuana, according to court records."

Let's go to the video tape.

Yes, troubling indeed. But not surprising given the current climate surrounding those who are supposed to "protect and serve" us here in America.

Let's stay in New York for the next story, where it appears that some of the boys in blue are allegedly stealing from perps now as well.

"The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office is investigating allegations that an NYPD cop wrongfully removed more than $1,000 from a man during a stop-and-frisk then pepper sprayed two people he did not arrest, the Daily News has learned.
The encounter was captured on a cell phone video, which has been turned over to prosecutors and the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau, said lawyer Robert Marinelli.

“One of the most disturbing things about the video is the other cops standing around watching and doing nothing to stop the wrongdoing,” Marinelli said Wednesday.

Marinelli represents siblings who were pepper sprayed — Lamard Joye who claims the cop took $1,300 from his pocket, which has still not been accounted, and his sister Lateefah Joye, a professional basketball player in Europe, who tried to get the cop’s badge number.

“I believe that this officer made an assumption that any money Mr. Joye possessed was obtained illegally and therefore he would not report the theft. This assumption was wrong, Mr. Joye is a hard-working taxpayer deserving respect,” said Marinelli." [Source]

When police officers act in this manner it makes it that much harder for the rest of us who are trying to get these young men in these streets to turn their lives around. It gives them (the young men) more excuses to act in ways that are detrimental to the rest of us in society. "These cops ain't nothing but crooks Mr. B. They worse than most of these bangers out here." That's a popular refrain.

Now, thanks to cell phone videos in the You Tube age, we are starting to see what these young men were talking about.

Still, I am glad to report that there are still some good cops out there. They hold it down every day under very tough circumstances and they put in the work to gain the trust of the communities that they serve. (See my current FNOTD)

We don't ever want these officers to be in the minority.

Sadly, it's looking like it might be too late.
