Denver on my mind.

So this is the week the dems meet in the Mile High City to make history. This is the week that they formally nominate his "O" ness. I think that it's historic, and for that alone it would have been interesting to be there. But that's not going to happen; three criminal cases,one case before the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, not to mention, being the trier of fact in my own domestic relations cases, says the kid couldn't be there if he wanted to.

Honestly, I am going to keep it real; I sure hope the bloggers who end up in Denver can give me something that I am not already going to get from the main stream media. I hear that the DNC is giving credentials to some state blogs, and the usual netroots suspects, and I have to wonder what I am going to learn from going to their blogs. (There are some issues with too few blogs of color being credentialed, but since my black ass didn't even apply I am going to leave that alone)

I am still trying to figure out just what the hell I would do in Denver to make my blogging relevant. Hmmm, let me see now, I guess the first thing I would do is try to figure out who the hell are these PUMA people? I always thought PUMA was the sponsor of my Jamaican track team, now I hear that it stands for "Party Unity My Ass" or some shit like that. Apparently, these are some Hillary folks who are pretty pissed off. I guess I would try to get into the head of some of these folks to try and find out why they hate on the "O" man so much? But what would be the point? They would try to tell me some bullshit, and I would know that they were full of it. But I would want to know who is behind P.U.M.A., and I doubt seriously if they (the individual members) would even know. Hillary is that you?

Then there are these anarchist. Why are they even in Denver? Shouldn't they be saving all their energy for Minneapolis? I mean go crash the rethuglicans party, they deserve it more. I guess I could hang with them in the streets a little bit and try to file a report....ahhh scratch that. I am not trying to go to jail with those crazy mother fuckers.

And what about all those FOX cameras all over the place? I even saw one clown in the middle of a protest asking why the people were protesting? I guess if I was in Denver I would want to know why anyone with a FOX microphone or a camera, should not be given a royal ass whupping. Hey, I am not advocating violence, just wondering out loud, that's all.

And let's not forget the Clintons. Can any of these bloggers get next to the Clintons? I would love to know what they are thinking? I know one thing; if the Clinton's walls could talk, it would make for one hell of a story.

And of course there is the star of the show, his "O"ness. I wonder if any of the bloggers will get next to him for a little sit down? If I did I would have only one question for him: Why do you have a stinking Dukie as your valet and personal "Man Friday"? Didn't you know that they are bad luck? And then his cool ass would probably tell me something like: Well field, this is America, and everyone can change, even Dukies.

The "O" and Joe Show!

Now that his "O" ness has selected his Robin to be his sidekick for his version of "The Dark Night" (let's call it the dark presidency), it's time to dissect the pick. I think, to be honest, that the general consensus is that this was a good pick by the "O" man. He could have done better from a pure political standpoint (Sam Nunn anyone?), but he could have done a lot worse as well. (Hillary anyone?)

And folks, let's not get it twisted; the field doesn't think the "O" man could win these elections if he had selected Abe Lincoln himself to be his running mate. But selecting Biden won't let the beating he is going to get any worse.

So anyway, let's take a look at the pros and cons of a Biden pick, shall we?

PRO: He is a white male.

CON: He is a white male from a very Northern state.

PRO: He has a great personal story.

CON: His running mate already has a great personal story.

PRO: He is a glib passionate speaker, who speaks his mind and will do well in the debates.

CON: He is a glib passionate speaker, whose mouth might get him in trouble. It has before.

PRO: He has great foreign policy credentials, and has the fact that he is the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee on his resume.

CON: He has great foreign policy credentials, and the "O" man picking him will seem like he is trying to cover up one of his weak areas, foreign policy.

PRO: He is not Hillary.

CON: He is not Hillary, and her peeps won't like it. Get ready Denver.

PRO: He is from Delaware, and that will help him with the Southeastern part of Pistolvania and the Philly suburbs.

CON: He is from Delaware. A very small state that his "O"ness was already going to win.

PRO: He has years and years of experience in Washington.

CON: He has years and years of experience in Washington. (What about change "O" man?)

PRO: Being born in Scranton Pistolvania and Catholic should help with some of those blue collar voters that the "O" man was having problems with.

CON: Many of those voters aren't voting for the "O" man and will never vote for a brother to be their president.

PRO: He is a fighter.

CON: He is a fighter, and his running made will seem even more benign and indulgent than he already is.

PRO: He is photogenic.

CON: Well, there is the whole "hair club for men" thing.

Why can't I lift my voice?

I swear I must be getting soft in my old age. Now I am seriously starting to question my radical black militant credentials. Honestly, I am one of those folks who believes that if I were a thinking adult in 1968, there is no doubt in my mind that I would have been behind John Carlos and Tommy Smith 100%. I would have been saying shit like: right on brothers, fuck the national anthem and that gold medal. Power to the people. But now.....

There has been a story out for a few days now. I am sure you all are aware of it. You know the one, about the sister in Denver who sang the National Anthem with the words of the black National Anthem, "Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing". Girlfriend sang the words of the black National Anthem to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner. My first thoughts were, how the hell did she pull that off musically? And then, of course, came the firestorm. Black and white folks were outraged. Well, some black folks were outraged, and damn near all white folks were. They accused her of deceiving the city of Denver to make a political statement. (Why is it than when shit has to do with black folks it's always "political statement"?) Girlfriend had to publicly apologize to the Mayor. And not surprisingly, even the "O" man threw her under the bus. (I swear if they had an under the bus toss in the Olympics, the U.S.A. would have to send the "O" man, because he would get a fucking gold medal. But I digress) Lucky for her she is 52 years old because her music career is pretty much kaput.

"I pulled a switcharoo on them" is what she told the Denver Post. And she explained that she was a child of the segregated South, and singing the song this way was her own artistic expression of the pain she feels at times from being a black A-merry-can. Okay, I am feeling all of those things. So why am I not feeling this particular protest? Why am I not behind girlfriend 110%? Why wasn't I blogging about this shit the next day, and saying that the politicians and the people of Denver should leave this poor woman alone?

It's because I have all these questions that I am now questioning my right to call myself a black man who speaks his mind no matter what, and no matter who it offends. Would I have openly defended Tommie Smith and John Carlos if I was blogging in 1968? Damn it now I am not so sure. Because I sure don't feel like defending Rene Marie. Is it because "we have come so far as a country" since 1968? Is it because it was Denver Colorado, and not Jackson Mississippi? Is it because the only consequence girlfriend will suffer is that she won't be asked to sing for the city of Denver again? Damn, more questions than answers, I hate that.

Poor Mayor Hickenlooper (Dude that's a seriously fucked up name), the poor guy says that he wished he had "interceded during the performance" (Now see, if you had done that Mr. Hickenlooper, we would have had a problem).

I can't wait to see who sings the National Anthem at next years state of the city address in Denver. I know one thing; whoever sings it, won't look anything like Rene Marie.

That's how many delegates the "Ice Queen" will get after the dumbocratic party leaders decided to seat the delegates from Michigan and Florida at only half strength.

Of course now everyone in camp Hillary is crying that the process was unfair. They were "jeering","hissing", and to use, if I may, a biblical rerence,gnashing their teeth.

Hilliary's peeps are mad because even after all of this, the "0" man will keep his delegate lead. One of Hillary's henchmen,Harold Ickes, said that Hillary will "reserve the right" to appeal the decision to the party's credentials committee. Oh boy!

"I am stunned that we have the gall and chutzpah to substitute our judgment for 600,000 voters". Nice rhetoric there Harold, that will really help your party come November. And I have a question: Didn't your girl agree to play by these very rules? Just a thought.

I know one thing, the "Clintonites"are fighting mad. You Obamaholics are going to have to knock down and drag these fools all the way to Denver.

The Bill and Hillary show continues.

I saw where Bubba said that the "O" man played the race card on him, and he was pretty much fighting mad about it. Folks, it's getting ugly out here. " My office is in Harlem....". Okay Bubba, whatever that means. How often are you in there? And do you ever step out of your office when the weather is nice to take a nice leisurely stroll amongst your black peeps?

Honestly, I will say this; if you are Bill and Hillary Clinton you have to be wondering what the fuck hit you. Here we have this upstart Negro from Illinois pushing the "Ice Queen" for the dumbocratic nomination, and unless some major shit goes down between now and the convention (no not an eight point win in Pistolvania. More on that in a minute) the little half and half SOB will be it. Can you imagine the anger the former first couple must be feeling?

But Bubba just won't keep his mouth shut. Even on the eve of a big swing state victory for his wife. In a way, he can be blamed for messing it up early for her too. Bubba suffers from the same issues that so many folks in the dumbocratic party and on the left suffer from. They think that because we have similar political interests we are kindred spirits and that they can feel our pain. They can't. That is something that only us folks will ever understand. To their credit, folks on the right don't even pretend that they can feel our pain, and they honestly don't give a fuck about us or our pain. We represent 12% of the population that they pretty much have written off. If 1% of you want to sell out and try to see things our way, that's fine. but we sure as hell aren't going to go looking for your vote. We are who we are, get in the tent, or stay the fuck out.

All these dynamics is what makes this dumbocratic primary season so interesting. We are starting to see how some liberals really feel, (read some of the comments from this post over at Mydd) and some of you black folks as well. You have turned on the Clintons big time, and it took one of your own running against one of them to cause you to do it. All you have to do is read some of the comments on this blog to see how the Obamaholics really feel, and it ain't pretty.

So now as I watch the Ice Queen give her victory speech, I can feel the venom coming from you Obamaholics (The field won't be getting any for awhile. Thanks Hillary!). I know you are all wishing she would just go away; but sadly, it doesn't look like she will be going anywhere for awhile. I know she is running out of money, and her campaign is in the red, but she is trying to raise funds on the Net now, and only time will tell how it goes. Folks, I think this thing is going all the way to Denver, and even then we don't know what will happen with the Super Delegates.

So let's see what the margins are. I predicted six to eight percent, and it looks like I will be close. But we will see.

Hey, here in Killadelphia, in spite of our good mayor, the black folks came out for the "O" man at a damn near 90% clip. But this is Pistolvania, and please believe me when I tell you, that even if the "O" man had not stumbled in that debate, and even if he had not made that "bitter" comment, he was going to lose. You will just have to trust me on that one. Too many poor blue collar folks, as well as white working class Catholics (see Ohio for our demographic). So it's on to Indiana and North Carolina now, and the intensity of the campaign season will only get hotter.

I see where Hillary thanked her family and her spouse tonight in her victory speech. I wonder if she wants to rethink that position.
