Arizona State Trooper: Sir, do you know why I pulled you over?

AST: Sir, I am going to have to detain you until we can confirm that you are in this country legally. It's the law here in our state.
FN: But officer, my wallet is in the trunk of my car, if you will....
AST: Sir,just don't make any sudden moves.

FN:  Officer, this is all a big misunderstanding...
AST: Shut up and put your hands behind your back! You are under arrest.

SB1070 sounds like a bad sci- fi movie, but it's all the rage in Washington as the supremes try to decide if it's cool to profile folks under the pretext of keeping law abiding Americans safe.

I see that my girl Jan Brewer took the trip to Washington. I bet she won't be welcome on Pennsylvania Avenue. The last time she met the president she had her fingers in his grill.

Obviously she is a true believer when it comes to her state's new immigration law.

She is not alone:

"I think that 1070 pretty much takes the handcuffs off of police officers, so that they can do the job that they have already been prescribed by the federal government to do" said Montenegro.

The law passed by a comfortable margin in both houses of the Republican-controlled legislature.

"Here in Arizona we have a lot of problems when it comes to open borders, when it comes to not enforcing federal immigration laws, which causes a lot of chaos in our streets" said Montenegro.

He said people have already left the state as a result of the law and crime is down.

But by how much and why is a matter of debate. Crime in Arizona was trending to a 30-year low before the law was signed by the Governor.

Thousands of illegal immigrants have left the state, according to at least two population studies, but there's no reliable count and it's unknown whether the exit was caused by the law or a sluggish economy."[Source]

The supremes won't have a decision until June.

That gives Flipper two full months to gives us his opinion about the law. Knowing what I know about Flipper; I suspect that he will take about three or four different positions by then.




  

The Negro threat.

I swear you can't make this stuff up. Did Jan Brewer really say that she felt " a little threatened" by Obama?

 “I was in the middle of a sentence and he walked away. I wasn’t angry at all. I felt a little bit threatened, if you will, in the attitude that he had.” [Source]

"Threatened"?!!! Let's see now, he is the President of these divided states. Those football player looking dudes with the earplugs in their ears are protecting him, not your drug addicted looking ass.

Republicans no longer have any respect for the presidency because they don't respect the person currently holding the office. It's that simple. That's sad, because I thought that republicans loved A-merry-ca and what the office of the president represents. *shaking head*

Then there is this new study out of Canada which confirms what I have suspected all along.

"There's no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.

The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.

"Prejudice is extremely complex and multifaceted, making it critical that any factors contributing to bias are uncovered and understood," he said.

Earlier studies have found links between low levels of education and higher levels of prejudice, Hodson said, so studying intelligence seemed a logical next step. The researchers turned to two studies of citizens in the United Kingdom, one that has followed babies since their births in March 1958, and another that did the same for babies born in April 1970. The children in the studies had their intelligence assessed at age 10 or 11; as adults ages 30 or 33, their levels of social conservatism and racism were measured. In the first study, verbal and nonverbal intelligence was measured using tests that asked people to find similarities and differences between words, shapes and symbols. The second study measured cognitive abilities in four ways, including number recall, shape-drawing tasks, defining words and identifying patterns and similarities among words. Average IQ is set at 100."

Social conservatives were defined as people who agreed with a laundry list of statements such as "Family life suffers if mum is working full-time," and "Schools should teach children to obey authority." Attitudes toward other races were captured by measuring agreement with statements such as "I wouldn't mind working with people from other races." (These questions measured overt prejudiced attitudes, but most people, no matter how egalitarian, do hold unconscious racial biases; Hodson's work can't speak to this "underground" racism.)

As suspected, low intelligence in childhood corresponded with racism in adulthood. But the factor that explained the relationship between these two variables was political: When researchers included social conservatism in the analysis, those ideologies accounted for much of the link between brains and bias.

People with lower cognitive abilities also had less contact with people of other races.

"This finding is consistent with recent research demonstrating that intergroup contact is mentally challenging and cognitively draining, and consistent with findings that contact reduces prejudice," said Hodson, who along with his colleagues published these results online Jan. 5 in the journal Psychological Science." Still, the moral of this story is that racism is just a bad thing all around for everybody.

Uppity Negroes and broke Negroes.

Memo to Jan Brewer, that Obama fellow doesn't forget s*&^.

"Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer came to greet President Barack Obama upon his arrival outside Phoenix Wednesday. What she got was a critique. Of her book.

The two leaders could be seen engaged in an intense conversation at the base of Air Force One's steps. Both could be seen smiling, but speaking at the same time.

Asked moments later what the conversation was about, Brewer, a Republican, said: "He was a little disturbed about my book."

Brewer recently published a book, "Scorpions for Breakfast," something of a memoir of her years growing up and defends her signing of Arizona's controversial law cracking down on illegal immigrants, which Obama opposes.

Obama was objecting to Brewer's description of a meeting he and Brewer had at the White House, where she described Obama as lecturing her. In an interview in November Brewer described two tense meetings. The first took place before his commencement address at Arizona State University. "He did blow me off at ASU," she said in the television interview in November.

She also described meeting the president at the White House in 2010 to talk about immigration. "I felt a little bit like I was being lectured to, and I was a little kid in a classroom, if you will, and he was this wise professor and I was this little kid, and this little kid knows what the problem is and I felt minimized to say the least."

On the tarmac Wednesday, Brewer handed Obama an envelope with a handwritten invitation to return to Arizona to meet her for lunch and to join her for a visit to the border.

"I said to him, you know, I have always respected the office of the president and that the book is what the book is," she told reporters Wednesday. She said Obama complained that she described him as not treating her cordially.

"I said that I was sorry that he felt that way. Anyway, we're glad he's here, and we'll regroup."' [Source]

Yes Jan, some of these Negroes can get a little uppity. That Obama fellow seems to have forgotten his place. Being the president of these divided states of A-merry-ca will do that to you.

Finally, when are some of you Negroes going to learn how to manage your money?

Folks, hang with me for a minute while I take a detour into the land of the *bazaar. [that should be *bizarre] Did you all hear about the following story from Cali? (Where else?)

Seems that this lady* was all in Glenn Close mode with her ex and....well here, read it for yourself:

"BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A doctor involved in an "on-again, off-again" relationship apparently tried to force her way into her boyfriend's home by sliding down the chimney, police said Tuesday. Her decomposing body was found there three days later.

Dr. Jacquelyn Kotarac, 49, first tried to get into the house with a shovel, then climbed a ladder to the roof last Wednesday night, removed the chimney cap and slid feet first down the flue, Bakersfield police Sgt. Mary DeGeare said.

While she was trying to break in, the man she was pursuing escaped unnoticed from another exit "to avoid a confrontation," authorities said.

DeGeare said the two were in an "on-again, off-again" relationship.

The man's identity was not revealed by police, but the man who resides in the home is William Moodie, 58.

'She made an unbelievable error in judgment and nobody understands why, and unfortunately she's passed away," Moodie told The Associated Press. "She had her issues – she had her demons – but I never lost my respect for her."' [Story]

Those are some cruel demons. What a way to go. You die while stuck in the chimney while trying to sneak into your exes home. How do you face St. Peter after that one? That's enough to make somebody ask the big guy for a do over.

Speaking of do over, I bet the people of Arizona would like one to elect a new governor. Jan Brewer? You have got to be kidding me! I still can't believe that I didn't hear about her "beheading" claim earlier this summer. That would have been a blog post for sure.

"Last month Brewer appeared on Fox News in yet another attempt to defend SB 1070 -- her anti-immigration law set to take effect in Arizona on July 28. On the show, Brewer said the law was necessary to combat the crime seen in her state, including kidnappings, extortion and BEHEADINGS?!

When questioned about her beheading accusation on a local Arizona political show, 12 News' Sunday Square-Off last week, Brewer had this to say:

"Our law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert, either buried or just lying out there, that have been beheaded," said Brewer.

One problem: officials from six county medical examiners around the state could not back Brewer's claim, saying they've never seen or heard of such attacks."

Facts? We don't need no stinkin facts! The thing is, I wouldn't have known about her absurd statement earlier this summer if it wasn't for her disastrous performance in the Ar-hate-zona gubernatorial debates last night.

"Last night, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer got down to debatin' with her opponent, Democratic Attorney General Terry Goddard, and Ben Smith has video of Brewer's opening statement which could charitably be called a "complete and utter disaster." Brewer's inability to, you know -- introduce herself, thank the debate sponsors, and welcome viewers at home -- hit a snag when her train of thought derailed, leaving dead-air gaps that rival any of the ones on the Arizona-Mexico border" [Link here with video]

Man that's hard to watch. I don't like wingnuts, but I feel for her....OK, that's a lie; f&^% her!
Here is hoping that her political career ended last night.

Before I go, a couple of other news items: I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and maybe there is a god after all. I know Thomas Magill better find his ass in church really soon.

Oh, and before I forget; I saw "Takers" this weekend (it was alright, Mrs. Field wanted to see her boy Idris)and I remember thinking that if T.I. plays his cards right he could end up like my man Ice Cube. Well a funny thing happened on the way to the red carpet. Looks like the long arm of the law might be taking T.I.'s ass straight back to jail. Why? Because my man and the little Mrs. Had to go all Paris Hilton and get themselves arrested. Folks, we have got to start thinking before we toke.

Pulling stuff out of the air, and Airbending.

Most black men are endowed with a large organ in a certain part of their body.

Now that statement has no basis in fact. It's a myth; a stereotype that has taken on a life of its own. But folks spread it, and others buy into it. Someone pulled it out of the air a long time ago and (thanks to guys like me :) it just kind of stuck.

We can understand when some folks buy into stereotypes. They don't know any better, and they don't take the time to try and find the truth. (Although, trying to get to the bottom of the first part of my post might take some work.) Regular folks. But not someone who was elected Governor to lead a very large Southwestern state. I am talking, of course, about one Jan Brewer. Jan just pulled a statement out of her ass for all the world to hear and expects the rest of us in this country who actually use our brains to believe it.

"PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Jan Brewer said Friday that most illegal immigrants entering Arizona are being used to transport drugs across the border...Brewer said the motivation of "a lot" of the illegal immigrants is to enter the United States to look for work, but that drug rings press them into duty as drug 'mules.' 'I believe today, under the circumstances that we're facing, that the majority of the illegal trespassers that are coming into the state of Arizona are under the direction and control of organized drug cartels and they are bringing drugs in,' Brewer said. 'There's strong information to us that they come as illegal people wanting to come to work. Then they are accosted and they become subjects of the drug cartel,' she said." [Article]

"There's strong information". Yeah right. You have to love a country where people can just make up s&*t to fit neatly into their ideological box. There is no such information and Jan knows it. Sure, someone in law enforcement might have told her that there have been instances where illegals are being used to transport drugs into the country, but I am quite sure that they did not say "MOST."

Most wingnuts are assholes. See, that's me just throwing something out there that I cannot back up factually. (Although it might be true) But I can do that. I am not the Governor of of one of states in these divided states of A-merry-ca. I don't have that kind of standard to live up to. Jan Brewer does.

And before I go, I have to rip my homeboy, M. Knight Shyamalan. His latest flick, "The Last Airbender", might or might not be a good movie. But I will never know, because I will never watch it. Look M. Knight, I know you want to appeal to a certain demographic. (Hey, they buy the tickets) but you have to make a better effort to give your project some form of historical accuracy and credibility. If you don't even that certain demographic you are trying to reach will say no thanks.

M. Night Shyamalan's sixth sense seems to have failed him. Because when it came to casting for his most recent movie, The Last Airbender, due in theaters Thursday, he saw white people. Just one problem. The characters in the Nickelodeon anime series on which Airbender is based are, you know, not. Much rightly has been made over the fact that even though the original series mostly features Asian themes, the lead roles in the movie went to three white actors and an Indian, Dev Patel. Who plays the bad guy."

M. Knight, this is not good. And they even have a website dedicated to calling you out:

"The website Racebending.com airs its outrage over the situation, and it urges a boycott of the movie. But Racebending's focus - like that of most of the accounts of the controversy surrounding the casting of Airbender - has to do with the Asian-white divide." [Article]

Of course M. Knight has an answer for why he his film was cast this way:

That is completely its point. So when we watch Katara, my oldest daughter is literally a photo double of Katara in the cartoon. So that means that Katara is Indian, correct? No that’s just in our house. And her friends who watch it, they see themselves in it. And that’s what’s so beautiful about anime..." [Article]

Alright M. Knight, whatever you say. "Ambiguous", huh?

Well, you can call it whatever. But you need a hit. It's been awhile. I wasn't feeling "Signs", or "The Happening," or" Lady In The Water", or "The Village"... you get the picture. (Pun intended.) You needed a hit, and this wasn't the way to get it.

"The one answer I will not settle for is the idea that this challenge is too big and too difficult to meet.”

I thought about blogging about President Obama's oval office address and his well scripted talk with the A-merry-can people. I thought about blogging about the despicable Governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer, who- along with other despicable acts- refuses to go along with her state's Clemency Board and allow a wrongfully convicted man (my opinion) to be freed after 28 years in prison.

I thought about blogging about them, but I can't; not after reading the following story:

"At 11:08 a.m. yesterday, 2-year-old Terrence Webster died from a bullet wound to his head.
"He died on his own, thank God for that," said Robin Powell, Webster's maternal grandmother, who had sat vigil by the Chester tot's bedside. "We wouldn't have ever been able to make the decision to take his tiny body off of life support."

While grateful that his soul will rest in peace, Powell is enraged that a killer stole his life away before he had a chance to live it.

Webster was returning home with his parents, Tisheta Green, 25, and Thomas Webster, 26, and his 4-year-old brother, Thomas "T.J." Webster Jr., to their apartment in a public-housing development on 9th Street about 2:30 a.m. Sunday when a gunman ambushed the family.
Powell said that the four were able to escape gunfire outside of the home and get inside, but when the unidentified gunman shot two bullets through the door, one of them struck Thomas Webster in the hand and then hit Terrence in the head.

The other bullet struck Green in her left leg, police and family said. Friends said that Green didn't know she was shot until after she arrived at the hospital, cradling her bleeding son in her arms.

The only member of the family to escape physically unharmed was T.J., Powell said.
More than a dozen friends and relatives gathered in Powell's Brookhaven home yesterday evening to mourn Terrence, lovingly known as "Lil' Pop" because of his affection for Pop-Tarts. "He was bright," Powell said. "He was sunshine."

As the Rev. Calvin Williams led the group in prayer in a steamy living room with the curtains closed, Powell sobbed into the leg where her daughter had been shot. Green herself said nothing, as she lay on the couch, overcome with anguish and pain.

It's been less than two months since Powell mourned the death of her own son, Thomas Lee "Bear-Bear" Green Jr., 23, who was shot and killed on April 17. His alleged killer, 16-year-old Omar Rashad Hooks, has been arrested. Police have not yet released a motive in that slaying.
"We just did this," Powell said. "It ain't even been two months and I'm grieving again. Our family is really close. We just don't live the way our children died."

Powell said that T.J., Terrence's brother, has been traumatized by what he witnessed.
"He's scared to death of the dark and loud noises now," she said." [More]

"Bear-Bear", huh? ....OK, so we are killing two year old children now? I was going to write some things about this story as well, but I changed my mind. Maybe sometimes "silence is golden."

And,well, maybe not.........let me close with this:

The president was eloquently speaking about making the Gulf and the people who work there whole again. He spoke about all kinds of commissions and blue ribbon panels who will be made up of some of the country's finest minds to work on the problem. That's great. But long after the Gulf is cleaned up and BP has reorganized, (thanks to a bankruptcy judge) the next Terrence Webster will be buried, and we will all be just as outraged at his death. Just don't expect any blue ribbon commissions or oval office addresses. As is the case with this two year old victim, the President won't even know he existed.

“Today, as we look to the gulf, we see an entire way of life being threatened by a menacing cloud of black crude,”

Oh the irony of it all.
