The GOP stands by their man, but the NYPD does not.

I have been away for the holidays, but now I am home. It's always nice to be back in Philly after a long trip.

Anyway, I am still perturbed by Cedric Richmond coming out and defending the GOP whip, Steve Scalise.  His clueless and ignorant actions has given the GOP cover to defend the indefensible, and they wasted no time in doing just that.

"..GOP freshmen Martha McSally of Arizona, Lee Zeldin of New York and Barbara Comstock of Virginia all indicated their support Sunday for Scalise, as did Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo.
Comstock said on CNN's "State of the Union" that colleagues view Scalise as "a man of good heart and good character."

Barrasso said that speaking to the group was a "grave mistake," but he cited Richmond's backing for Scalise and said the matter was not an issue for his constituents.

"This has not come up as a discussion point in Wyoming," Barrasso said on NBC's "Meet The Press."

Well I guess not Sen. Barrasso. We are, after all, talking about "Wyoming"

But back to Mr. Richmond.

I would expect this type of blind support for a man who speaks to white supremacists from people like Mia Love and Ron Christie, but not someone like Cedric Richmond. He should know better.

Finally, the actions of those police officers in who turned their backs on the city's mayor at the funeral of a fallen colleague was disgusting.

The banner I could live with, but not this.

It makes you wonder about the makeup of these particular boys in blue.

Even if you have strong disagreements with the mayor, you have to act with class and dignity on such an occasion. Especially if you are a police officer who is sworn to uphold the law.

Still, I am glad that the mayor himself spoke about the incident and called it what it was: "disrespectful."

I hate to say it, but I suspect that most of you know why this is happening.

I will leave that alone for now, but you all know what I am thinking.

Do your damn job, you're getting paid for it. Or quit. Uniformed thugs holding the city hostage. This is accepted by the military, then it's good enough for the men in blue.

Why not the same outrage when the yellow flag hooligans killed the cops out in Nevada? Fox covered that story like what one day? We know what's different.
Oh yeah, Ron Christie debuted the Rev. Wright talking point that Newt Gingrich more than happily regurgitated on a Sunday morning talk show. One thing about the right, they know how to stay on message no matter what.

It was a hell of a video to see O'Reilly and David Duke shouting at each other.

Eh, not completely.

Maybe having a black wife and biracial kids helped motivate Big Bill to run for NY mayor on a platform of police reform. And maybe some of the boys in blue are not crazy about Bill's family. I wouldn't be surprised. But honestly, I think they'd have gone ballistic over any attempt by anyone to rein them in, no matter who attempted it.

The fundamental issue is that cops feel like they do a nasty difficult job (fair enough -- they do) and that as a consequence, no one should be allowed to question how they do it. Even if they unnecessarily kill someone, they should get an automatic pass.

Self-defense doesn't even require that a person be in danger, just that he have a "reasonable" belief that he was in danger.

But many cops feel that we should just dispense with that evaluation of reasonableness -- or maybe just to assume that is always reasonable to shoot a black man, because black men are always a threat.

That's not okay. Cops may not like civilians second-guessing them, but that's too bad. It comes with the job.

If you still weren't convinced that the corrupt and militarized modern police of America are little more than a badge gang, I should think this obnoxious, irresponsible reaction by the police should suffice to convince you, at least concerning the feckless nature of the NYPD.

Recall that police work is not even among the ten most dangerous jobs in America; if it were, women would not pursue it. Remember that most officers never draw their gun nor fire it in the course of their career. And keep in mind that police departments intentionally screen to keep out the excessively intelligent and the insufficiently aggressive.

The petulance of the NYPD indicates they place their own aggrandizement ahead of the interests of the society they are supposed to defend.

The NYPD have made it clear that they love only themselves. They do not love that which they claim to protect and serve. Their idea of virtue is defective. They want to be regarded as heroes, but it is their very hunger for heroic status that renders genuine heroism forever beyond their reach.

Since when has an NYPD cop acted with class and dignity? Never. They are legalized thugs who will not uphold the law...period. They have proven that time and time again. The last time killed Eric Garner. And that was caught on video. Nope, there is nothing dignified or classy about them.

That's why I read FN religiously every day, once in the Am and once in the pm before I go to bed. You are so full of info and reality that I can't take it all in. but I am trying.

That said, I think you're on thin ice with your remark "We are, after all, talking about "Wyoming"

I hear those types of generalizations about my home town and state: Oakland, California all the time. Even though some of our own elected officials sometimes suffer from foot-in-mouth syndrome, you really can't hold it against an entire community, city, or state.

And Pennsylvania, you have such rich cultural traditions - - -they couldn't/shouldn't ever be trampled by mere words of a single politician.

I dislike de Blasio for a different reason. He squashed the attempt to get an independent investigation of the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 (the one that wasn't hit by a plane) on the ballot. But he showed me what he was about before that. He threw Alan Grayson under the bus while Grayson was campaigning for him. Grayson said the Tea Party is racist. When the Tea Party complained, Grayson said, "if the hood fits, wear it". De Blasio ran away from it. He ran away from the truth. Studies have shown that the Tea Party is made up of the most racist Republicans.

I support the NYPD too. They are the ones people call when there's trouble. They have a tough job and its not their fault one particular ethnic group with a history of smoking, obesity, heart disease and diabetes and resisting arrest causes most of the trouble.

So funny how Liberals all seem to want cops to do nothing if someone is resisting arrest or posing a threat (in other words, they want anarchy). Here's some food for thought to all the cop haters....

Today, I will not answer the radio call that your boyfriend has come home drunk and is beating you again. Today I will not answer the radio call that your 16 year old daughter, who is very responsible, is four hours late coming home from school. Today I will not answer the radio call that your store has been robbed or your house has been burglarized. Today I will not stop a drunk driver from killing someone. I will not catch a rapist or a murderer or a car thief. Today I will not answer the radio call that a man has a gun or tried to abduct a child or that someone has been stabbed or has been in aterrible accident. Today I will not save your child that you locked in a car or the child you were to busy to watch who went outside and fell into the swimming pool, but that I revived. No, today I will not do that.

Why?

Because Today I was killed by a drunk driver while I was helping push a disabled car off the highway. Today I was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop to simply tell someone that they had a taillight out. Today I was killed in a traffic accident rushing to help a citizen. Today I was shot and killed serving a warrant on a known drug dealer. Today I was killed by a man when I came by to do a welfare check because his family was to busy. Today I was killed trying to stop a bank robbery or a grocery store robbery. Today I was killed doing my job. A chaplain and an officer will go to a house and tell a mom and dad or a wife or husband or a child that their son or daughter or husband or wife or father or mother won’t be coming home today. The flags at many
police stations were flown at half-mast today but most people won’t know why. There will be a funeral and my fellow officers will come, a twenty-one-gun salute will be given, and taps will be played as I am laid to rest. My name will be put on a plaque, on a wall, in a building, in a city somewhere. A folded flag will be placed on a mantel or a bookcase in a home somewhere and a family will mourn.

There will be no cries for justice. There will be no riots in the streets. There will be no officers marching, screaming “no justice, no peace.” No citizens will scream that something must be done. No windows will be smashed, no cars burned, no stones thrown, no names called. Only someone crying themselves to sleep tonight will be the only sign that I was cared about.

I was a police officer."

The Mayor needs to man up to reality and take responsibility for his own behavior. His words prior to the officer's death were a debasement to the police department. That they turn their backs on him is a statement of the harm they have felt because of his lack of overall support for them. What does/did he think would happen? It is as if he threw a rock and hit someone and when they threw back, he waawaaed that they threw a rock at him. What a shame he cannot at least see his part, much less accept his contribution to the situation, and lastly admit it, then apologize. That's what a real man does. But maybe he is just another politician who thinks he ought to be immune to personal self responsibility.

Wait, I thought Republican "obstructionism" was supposed to be holding the recovery back? Turns out the only thing they were obstructing was Obama's insane economic policies. The federal government had a minor shutdown in October and lo and behold, the economy began growing.

The primary stimulus has been cheap energy prices due to domestic fracking, something the Obama administration fought tooth and nail to prevent.

And of course, Republican measures to rein in spending have helped boost the economy.

Now Obama wants to take credit for a bit of good news six years after he took charge.

The unemployment number is a joke, as the workforce participation figure is at historic lows. We just now replaced the jobs lost in the recession, but we have a larger population. The two million additional jobs were all taken by immigrants - even the fake black unemployment rate remains over 11%.

The national debt recently passed $18 trillion. It will be $20 trillion before Obama leaves office, double what it was when he got in.

The American economy has survived despite what our government has done, not because of it. There is still Hell to pay.

You disagree the gap between the rich and poor hasn't grown under Obama?

The New Yorker this week quotes from James Baldwin from 1960, who, brilliant and empathic citizen that he was, both sides of policing. Just thought everyone should read this:

"Rare, indeed, is the Harlem citizen, from the most circumspect church member to the most shiftless adolescent, who does not have a long tale to tell of police incompetence, injustice, or brutality. I myself have witnessed and endured it more than once. . . . It is hard, on the other hand, to blame the policeman, blank, good-natured, thoughtless, and insuperably innocent, for being such a perfect representative of the people he serves. He, too, believes in good intentions and is astounded and offended when they are not taken for the deed. He has never, himself, done anything for which to be hated––which of us has?––and yet he is facing, daily and nightly, people who would gladly see him dead, and he knows it. There is no way for him not to know it: there are few things under heaven more unnerving than the silent, accumulating contempt and hatred of a people."

Only old man need/use Viagra so he "raped" her??? :)))

How did he get in Kinky, through the window he first climbed up,then broke, then ripped the screen also? ;D

He hammered off the lock on the door and forced his way in? Hahaha!

Did he wait for her in the dark hidden in some bushes, then JUMPED out and covered her mouth and pushed her in the door, forced her to the room etc? :p

Or did he ask her out to dinner then put a pill in her drink, then when she passed out, took her home and carried her in and kicked open the door etc? :)

Or did he just pay her a friendly visit then grabbed her and forcefully pinned her down etc., etc.,

It's a miracle he didn't suffer a heart attack and collapse before he got to the actual act!!! Ahahaha!
Oh and all this within the half hour after downing the pill because I believe that's the time frame for its effectiveness!

That's funny Kinky! You're too much. You've really made me laugh though! ;)

Being rich is wonderful. I highly recommend it. But you'll likely never achieve it. Most people aren't willing to do what it takes to get there. They let life make decisions for them. Then, they complain about the lives they have chosen through inaction.

Don't get me wrong. I love these people. The less of the pie they take, the more left for me. I tend to hire such people as they seem clueless about the real value of their work and will settle for what I decide to pay. Many of them are so out of touch that they don't even keep track of what they are really paid. Many, who pay bills with credit cards, do not even notice if their pay slightly decreases over time. They think things are just getting more expensive.

Unsuccessful people like this tend to subscribe to a number of myths:

1) Hard work will make you wealthy. Actually, it just makes you tired and die young.

2) Education is the key to success. Actually, it puts you in debt and will not necessarily get you a good job.

3) America is the Land of Opportunity. Actually, opportunities anywhere are made not found.

4) All people are equal and should be treated equally. Actually, certain types of people are superior. Being rich is a sign you are superior.

5) Society owes you the basics of food, shelter, education, medical care, etc. Actually, society owes you nothing. In fact, society is imaginary.

6) It's not fair for some to be rich while others are poor. Actually, it doesn't matter what you think is fair. Fair doesn't exist. What is real is money. The rich will still get richer. The poor will still be poor since they choose to be.

7) Everyone must pay their fair share. Actually, the middle class will pay the most and likely not even notice.

8) Big business is evil. Actually, big business is good unless you are a directionless, unmotivated failure. Unless you invest, stop complaining.

9) Poverty is the result of oppression. Actually, poverty is the result of a lack of drive and ingenuity. It's a sign you are inferior.

10) Unions help workers. Actually, unions help themselves to your money and offer you very little.

So don't be a pinhead. Don't put up with pinheads either. Spin masters are a dime a dozen and draw low readership. Put the truth out there objectively and allow no one to spin it and you'll have something unique and worth reading.

Spin the truth and you'll only attract those who agree with your agenda or those who disagree with the obvious distortion. Most people will see your blog and just keep going.

That's my advice. By the way, when you're the boss you never have to keep it pithy.
