Sorry Martese, your UVA cred is not enough.

Image result for martese uva imageThe Field Negro education series continues:

"Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe on Wednesday asked state police to investigate the arrest of a black University of Virginia undergraduate by state liquor agents that left the student bloodied and needing 10 stitches in his head.

McAuliffe was "concerned by the reports of this incident" and wants an independent probe, his office said. University President Teresa Sullivan said in a statement to the campus, in Charlottesville, that she had asked the governor to investigate. Students, faculty and staff "stand unified in our commitment to seeking the truth about this incident," Sullivan wrote. "And we stand united in our belief that equal treatment and equal justice are among our fundamental rights under the law."

Martese Johnson, a junior, was "flung to the ground" by Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents outside Trinity Irish Pub at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to a statement circulated by the student group Concerned Black Students. Johnson is the leadership development chair of the UVA Black Student Alliance, which circulated the statement.

The statement said Johnson did not resist questioning or arrest, but ABC agents pinned him to the pavement with their knees on his back. A photo the group circulated online shows Johnson lying on the sidewalk with his face bloodied as an officer appears to restrain him.

one onlooker repeatedly shouts, "Yo his head is bleeding!" Johnson can be heard yelling, "I go to UVA. You fuckin' racists. ... How did this happen?"

Johnson was charged with public swearing/intoxication and obstructing justice, according to court records. He was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released.

"The uniformed ABC Agents observed and approached the individual after he was refused entry to a licensed establishment," Virginia ABC said in a statement. "A determination was made by the agents to further detain the individual based on their observations and further questioning." ABC officials declined to elaborate.

Charlottesville police arrived just after 1 a.m., "responding to a disorder involving a large crowd after the incident took place," Capt. Wendy Lewis told The Huffington Post. Lewis said the ABC agents had been conducting "some type of operation in our jurisdiction resulting in the arrest and injury" of Johnson. Police dispersed the crowd without further trouble, she added.

Daniel P. Watkins, an attorney representing Johnson, said in a statement that "contrary to early police reports," his client wasn't accused of having a fake ID during the incident. He said ABC agents forced Johnson to the ground prior to handcuffing him, "striking his head on the pavement and causing him to bleed profusely from the gash on his head."

Johnson, a member of the school's Honor Committee and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, had recently posted on Facebook about the racist fraternity song in Oklahoma, writing, "This is why things like Black Greek organizations, Black mentorship programs, and Black professional networks still need to exist. If you were wondering..." [Source]

It's a commonly known fact that UVa isn't "friendly" to Black students.

A story like this coming from a school like this or UAlabama as another example, isn't uncommon.

Singing racist songs may be impolite. It may be jackassery. But it is Constitutionally protected free speech. Not allowing blacks into your fraternity may be rude. It may be boorish. But it is Constitutionally protected free association.

OSU deserves to get its pants sued off and David Boren should be fired by the university immediately.

OU didn't expel a black football player who beat up a girl so badly that he literally broke her face. But they expelled two white students for engaging in legal and Constitutionally-protected behavior.

Mr Fields, the BIG STORY is race at Starbucks, which will be a big positive boost for everybody. Even FOX is on this story because it affects Blacks mostly.

But you and Rev Al have remained silent about the forthcoming positive discussion on race, which will undoubtedly be mostly done by good hearted Whites.

Why, Mr Field, why are you so mute about this great turn of racial events?

Do they have a Starbucks on OU's campus? That might be a great place for SAE and the New Panthers to have a discussion about race over a cup of coffee.

It should be noted that the majority of police, I believe, are honest, hard working and perform a dangerous and much needed service. For that I thank them.
I think as we explore better ways to coexist we can transition from the United State of America to its intended United States of America.

The right of "free association" isn't really a very expansive right, no matter how much you might wish it were. Colleges can police frat selection processes, and colleges don't even have to allow frats on campus if they so choose. OU's administration is well within their legal rights to kick SAE out of their school if they don't like how SAE operates.

(However, I do think it was unfair that the president gave a speech speech effectively labeling everyone at the frat as a racist and saying they wouldn't receive help securing new housing when SAE got shut down. He can't possibly know the attitudes of the entire frat based on the public behavior of a few a-holes.)

On the other hand, expelling the students for offensive speech is a bad idea, given that freedom of speech is supposed to be a core value of universities, and it was probably illegal to boot. OU can expect a lawsuit in response to the expulsions.

As many people have suggested, it would have been preferable for the school to attempt to reach out to these kids and start some kind of dialogue. Maybe if these bozos got to know some actual black people, they wouldn't think it was cute to sing songs that would be suitable for a Klan rally.

I'm curious as to why these ABC agents were hassling a college kid in the first place. Aren't they supposed to be regulating the bars, not the people who attend them? How did this altercation even happen, much less end up with this dude beaten to a pulp?

That's funny. Didn't so many Negroes get all over George Zimmerman for an almost identical situation with the same agents?

If it weren't for double standards ; Negroes wouldn't have any.

Interestingly, my comment regarding today's discussion is a reply I started composing to the blog Meridian "taxi service".

By acknowledging the costs to taxpayers when evidence clearly shows police are complicit in wrongful deaths, one of the Anons @ 8:16 PM asked how I would feel if a family member was killed as a result of unjustfiable excessive force by the police.

Of course, families losing their loved ones in such a horrific way are deserving of justice and the proper financial settlements. My point regarding the huge monetary amounts is the steps city, state and federal leaders should be taking to make sure public servants such as the police are steering clear of the kind of unlawful acts that result in the loss of life.

As C+H+D posted at 2:49 AM, the majority of our men and women in blue are good police officers serving their community with honor and integrity in the midst of dangerous situations.

In the case of VA Univ student, thank God he is alive. Though the bruises shall heal, the road to mental and emotional recovery will be far more challenging. Hope the young man keeps the faith so that his story may serve as an empowering moment.

George Zimmerman assaulted an ABC agent.

At least based on the information released thus far, this college student was on the receiving end of an assault by an ABC agent.

Sorry, not really the same thing.

Dumbocrats are so cute trying to fix Black people.

The Los Angeles city council didn't believe that Black people had the ability to make better food choices.

So the smart dumbocrats in the city council thought banning new fast food joints would solve the problem of Black obesity.

Study: Zoning Law Limiting Fast-Food Outlets Did Not Cut Obesity Rate In South LA
...
Before the fast-food ordinance, 63 percent of South Los Angeles residents reported being overweight or obese compared to 57 percent in other parts of the county. Three years after the ordinance went into effect, 75 percent of South Los Angeles residents reported being overweight or obese compared to 58 percent in other parts of the county.

"If not for the greed of the new york government to tax every dollar out of poor people smoking, Eric Garner would be alive today."

The NYPD honed their racist attitudes and lousy practices (they were actually encouraged to be racist!) under 20 years of conservative mayors (yes, despite what Fox News wants to pretend, Bloomberg was a Republican before ditching the Party because he was richer than God and could afford to fund his own campaigns).

If it hadn't been for Rudy and Mike, NYC might not have cops who strangle black people.

And if Rudy and Mike were still running things today, the cop who killed Garner would probably have received a medal for killing him.

Anonymous said...

"Without ID, how will the government know you obeyed the law?"

The same way they do now in most place, by simply telling your name to one of the polling attendants and having them cross it off a registration list? You realize that there is virtually NO in-person voting fraud. It just doesn't happen.

But if ID were really deemed necessary, then this could probably be accommodated -- if the state issued IDs for free and proactively made sure everyone had one.

That's the sticking point in these voting ID laws, though -- they are intended to keep those people away from the polls who are too poor to afford a car or even to pay for the ID itself. They are a backdoor poll taxes.

Reality makes cops racist.

And Bloomberg was a liberal democrat who always funded his own campaigns and switched to Republican because personal disputes with other NY democrat big shots meant he couldn't get the democrat nomination, then dumped the Republican party and became a full-fledged fascist gun control / nanny state loon.

He got away with stop and frisk because it was there to protect Jews and Jews do whatever they want.

No one has to pay for an ID. Every single state that passed a voter ID law also made provisions for anyone who needed such an ID to get one for free.

Do you want people who are too lazy and stupid to take a free ID along with all their other free stuff to vote?

That's how we got Obama.

Stupid people should not vote. Having the basic wherewithal to acquire a free ID should be the minimum filter on the voting process.

People who are on government benefits should not be allowed to vote. Only people who pay taxes should decide how those taxes are spent.

Sure ID's are free but some are only offered at distant locations that aren't easily reached by some folks with limited transportation. Everyone should vote not just those with means. If someone is temporarily on public assistance that doesn't stop them from being a citizen and they still pay taxes. Everyone pays taxes. I applaud oregon and their efforts to get every citizen the franchise. Restricting certain people from voting never turns out well, we've tried this before.

PilotX said...

Getting everyone to vote turns out worse.

You don't need transportation, they'll bring you your free ID.

There are plenty of helpful people out there to facilitate the voting process. They'll fill out your registration for you. They'll drive you to the polls. They are so nice, they'll even fill out your ballot for you. You don't ever need to lift a finger. That's the whole point.

PilotX said...

"Why else would anyone vote for Barack Obama except that they thought they'd get more from the government?"

Airlines pilots voted for him because we knew he would appoint labor friendly members to the NLRB. The same for many union members.

Many people in '08 got scared because McCain chose Palin as his running mate which shows a profound lack of judgement.

Many blah people voted for him because he would become our first blah persident.

Many voted for him and Dems because the GOP is too far to the right on social issues and a GOP president would work to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Most young people saw him as a more unifying candidate because '08 and '12 were two of the most diverse presidential conventions in history while the GOP conventions were very monolithic and older.

He was just a better candidate than McCain and Romney who insulted 47% of Americans which was seen as divisive.

PilotX said...

"Why else would anyone vote for Barack Obama except that they thought they'd get more from the government?"

McCain was seen as too much of a hot head to be trusted with the button.

The Romneys were seen as out of touch because of his wealth and religion. The two big moments that really hurt him were his $10,000 bet with Gov. I can't remember and when his wife scolded us by saying "you people have everything you're going to get".

Dems are viewed as better with the economy, the environment and education.

The biggest reason is that less than half the country are conservatives. The gop is divided between the wealthy, the social conservatives and the religious right and that is a very unstable group to keep unified and no one candidate can please these groups. The gop can do well in local elections but don't do so well in national elections because they have moved do far to the right.

Notice not once did I mention free stuff.

Unions are are wing of the democrat party, a system that funnels public money to unions who in turn cycle some back to the democrats.

Your vote is more informed and defensible, but it is still about mutual payoffs.

If constructive, admirable people like Jason Riley, Allen West, Thomas Sowell, Ben Carson, Clarence Thomas, et al. were held forward as role models instead of sociopathic vermin like Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Assata Shakur, a whole lot of “oppression” would magically evaporate, allowing blacks to get up off the floor and achieve their potential without having anything coercively handed to them. But the liberal ruling class that uses the welfare system to breed blacks for their Democrat votes like chickens raised for eggs will use their control of the media and entertainment industry to prevent that from happening.

PilotX said...

Contrary to popular belief trayvon Martin nor Michael Brown are held as heroes to be emulated. I have yet to hear a parent tell their kid, if you study hard you can sell loose cigarettes. They are examples of an overly aggressive response to minor infractions committed by blah men. We don't need conservative whites to tell us who our heroes are thankyouverymuch.

As far as unions voting Democratic it only makes sense as the Dems have historically been the party of labor. If you are union or non union but defined as a laborer you are normally better served by the Dems. Today the only reason to vote gop is you are wealthy, a social conservative or hyper religious or racist.
