The Democratic Party consists of white liberals and a growing contingent of disparate non-white groups, held together by anti-white hatred. The old white leadership is being pushed aside by a new generation of the people they imported to win elections. It should have been obvious that the identity politics they have pushed for decades would mean the triumph of tribalism over ideology. The idea of an America united by common values and ideas is dead. They are learning the hard lesson that in a multi-ethnic democracy, blood is all that matters.

I’m not saying race had nothing to do with her win. She was a Latina running in a district with a plurality of Latin voters, some of whom are likely to have voted based on ethnicity. This happens everywhere with every group to some degree, unfortunately.
But she is not some kind of race warrior who is solely focused on serving only her tribe. The main difference between her and the guy she’s replacing is not race but economic ideology — he’s a centrist, while she seems to be farther left . She identifies as a socialist, for whatever that’s worth. (A lot of people, like Bernie Sanders, who throw this term around don’t believe in anything close to actual socialism.)

I don’t really think Kennedy’s retirement requires skullduggery to explain. It’s enough to know that he is a) old and b) a Republican.
The latter is rather important. Kennedy has a long history of wilfull blindness about the awfulness of his party. You’d have to be in major denial if you’re halfway intelligent and not totally evil, and yet you still keep voting GOP.
Kennedy wrote the majority opinion in Citizens United, arguing money=speech and that money has no corrupting effec on the politicians who receive it. Which is desperately naive. He also sided with the majority in Shelby v Holder, gutting the Voting Rights Act, under the rationale that the South isn’t racist anymore so nobody needs to keep an eye on Southerners’ election cheating anymore. Again, desperately naive.
So if you asked him why he felt comfortable retiring with the Very Stable Genius running the White House, snatching kids at the border and enacting Muslim bans, Kennedy’s answer would probably be some version of: “Trump’s not THAT bad ...” Guys like him refuse to see disaster until it arrives on their doorsteps.
