Top Democrat Dianne Feinstein called for his nomination to be put on hold.
Mrs Ford, a professor of psychology at Palo Alto University, told the Post she had decided to go public as her privacy was "being chipped away.
She believed the incident happened in 1982, when she was 15 and Mr Kavanaugh was 17.
He was a student at Georgetown Preparatory School in Bethesda, Maryland, and she was studying at a nearby high school.
In the words of the Washington Post, "While his friend watched, she said, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed on her back and groped her over her clothes, grinding his body against hers and clumsily attempting to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it.
"When she tried to scream, she said, he put his hand over her mouth."
Mrs Ford, 51, is further quoted as saying that she managed to break free.
"I thought he [Mr Kavanaugh] might inadvertently kill me," she told the Post." [Source]
Oh, and there is something else: She actually passed a lie detector test, and she told her husband and psychiatrist about the assault over five years ago.
Of course, the GOP being the party of Donald trump and Clarence Thomas has no problem with this type of behavior. It is par for the course in their world: Just a bunch of entitled assholes having some fun at the expense of some "chick."
Dianne Feinstein does not escape m outrage with this story. She had this information back in July and is now deciding to spring it on us. There should have been questions for him about this alleged assault during the confirmation hearings last week.
But I have a suggestion: Let's strap up Kavanaugh to lie detector and see where he comes out. Yeah I know, it' means nothing in a court of law, but in the court of public opinion it could make all the difference in the wold.

First, because it's an extremely old allegation, never adjudicated by a court of law. And the accuser has no corroboration of her claims.
Second, because Republicans simply don’t give a shit. They want to win at all costs (remember, these are the unprincipled bastards that outright stole a SCOTUS nomination from the Obama), and they’ve now hitched their wagon to Kavanaugh. If they fail to confirm him and have to start all over again with another Trump nominee, those confirmation hearings won’t happen until next year — by which point the Democrats may well control the Senate and be able to throw a monkey wrench into their plans to put a hard-right judge on the bench.
So what kind of relationship did this woman have with her mother. Did she not trust her mother enough to tell what happened? Why did not the professor of psychology tell her mother who then should have contacted the police or child protective services. Why did not she make a public appearance five years ago? Most women over 50 years old has been touch inappropriately, usually as a teenager. During the time, we lived in a culture where sexually inappropriateness was acceptable by societal standards.
Now, we are using what happened to us as teenagers and young women for poltical gain and attention. We need to stop exploiting past vulnerabilities. People ought to stop acting as if they don’t live in glass houses.

It is good to see Steyer doing something more useful than setting fire to large piles of money in a doomed quest for a removal of Fergus that can never happen.
I thought billionaires knew how numbers worked, but the concept of 67 votes in the senate seems beyond his grasp somehow.
So now can he apply some of that billionaire clout to state level elections, where a (relatively) little money goes a long way, and is a proven smart strategy ahead of the census and redrawing of the districts for the next decade? That would be awesome.

Well Doug, unlike dipshit Drumpf, Steyer came by his billions honestly so let him spend them as he wishes.
More wingnut wealthy have awakened to the damage wingnuts have done to America and are urging people to elect Democrats.
In a normal world a Dem wouldn't have to campaign on any platform other than being anti-Drumpf and they should all win in landslide fashion.
Oh, don't get me wrong, this is a very good thing he just did.
I was just thinking of some political bloggers/podcasters I know who have been lamenting the lack of the kind of support for nascent left wing media that can be found on the right, and wondering how many small time outfits like theirs could be started and lifted up by just one of the piles of flaming "Need To Impeach" cash that they don't believe will have much real world effect.
They live in Illinois and complain that almost all of the low level media there is right wing, radio, newspapers, and local TV.
But yeah, it's his money, and really, we could use a few more billionaires who think like him.
