Home is where the heart is.

Damn it Mr. Morton, just when I was about to go ahead and vote for you because of your position on the draft, you go out and do some dumb crap like this. Did you really tell "politico" that you don't know how many homes you own? My god man, talk about out of touch.

To be fair; the average A-merry-can is used to his or her politician running for president being wealthy and somewhat privileged. But honestly Mr. Morton, you don't have to rub it in our faces. $500 loafers? Wealth starts at five million? Not knowing how many homes you own? WTF? Now you have me flip flopping again......geez!

And hey, I know that your wife, Cindy, is filthy rich, and that those homes (How many are there? Four? Six? Seven? Only his realtor knows for sure.) are probably all hers. But you might just want to lose that populous, everyman message. No matter how much you try to be one of us regular folks, you come up a little short. Because, let's face it, not too many of us have a hundred million collecting interest in the bank. Message to Morton: If you want to appeal to "middle class" A-merry-cans, it might help to know how many fucking homes you own. Just a thought. Because I guarantee you that the average A-merry-can knows how many homes he/she owns, what the mortgage is, and the exact date that it's due.

"Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people 'cling' to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?

Ouch! That was Mr. Morton's mouthpiece, Brian Rogers, coming down on his "O" ness for his own little, ahem, house issues. That's it Brian, "stand by your man." Still, I bet if you ask his "O" ness how many homes he owns, he would know. Even if it is a hook up from Tony Rezko.

plus which, there ARE no private beaches in Hawaii; Obama was at a public beach, mixing it up with real people.

It would seem like this is a slamdunk proving that McCain is out of touch and favors the rich. But remember 4 yrs. ago, when a decorated Vietnam War hero got swiftboated and beat by a man who had dodged the war?

Unless Barack gets a little dirty and starts plastering all those Architectural Digest pictures of Cindy and John in one of their many homes all over the pick-up trucks in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky, I don't think this is going to stick. I've heard more about Tony Rezko as a result of this than I have McCain's wealth or forgetfulness.

The GOP talking points now claim these homes belong to Cindy Lou and were paid for by her inheritance, as if this somehow gets the Old Coot off the hook.

Looks like my man Barack, has done found his cajones and he ain't backing down.

McThusela opened the door for this when he tried to jump on Hillary's "Obama is an elitist" train. Barry's already got adds up. Since they brought up Rezko now the Obama Campaing can remind everyone of the Keating Five Scandal. Remeber that Johnny Boy? Your wife does, it made her druggie who stole from her own charity to get a fix.

Wait a sec.

They're calling Obama a rich elitist because he makes $4 million a year? I thought McCain established the lower/middle classes as those making less than $5 million a year. Obama is $1 million short by McCain's own measure. I guess Obama's love of arugula makes up the difference or something.

No McCain didn't bring up Rezko the man that has went to court, been sentenced, and serving his time, in a case by the way that Obama had nothing to do with. Ain't that bout a biscuit.

Maybe, they need to dig up McCain's military record. Or bring up some of these scandals:

He could have said we have at least one house as you certainly do not need to use your fingers to count. How can you not know the number of homes that you home? I think the question was how many houses do you and your wife (Cindy) have, so I think the reporter took that into consideration.

I think it's also not a very good argument from the McCain camp to say that Obama has a house. Yes he has one house compared to the several houses Mr and Mrs Morton owned. But it doesn't matter because McCain lived in prison for more than five years. You Mr. Morton being a POW is getting tired and he has spent. He sounding like my grandmother and father who tells stories about they would walk ten miles to get the out house. Everyday, he reminds that grandpa that you need to send to the home because he is scaring the grandchildren.

Let's see now, she steal drugs from her own company and now she has converted to stealing other folks recipes. I don't know about you folks but I don't want no thief for a first lady of this nation. Scandalous!

Don't they have a community property law in Arizona? I mean out this way, whatever a married couple own is considered community property. That means they both own them.

GrannyStandingforTruth said...

BTW, as much as I've been reading about Cindy's light fingers, did she pay for the houses or steal them too? I mean I know she is rich and all, but she sure does like to take what doesn't belong to her. Oops, correction, she likes to steal from herself too.

I know if she were in my presence, I'd be keeping a close eye on her. I wonder if she has taken anything from the campaign aides or people while on the campaign trail. If I were Republicans I'd be taking inventory before and after she came to town.

McCain Camp Plays POW Card On House Gaffe
The McCain campaign was in full damage-control mode as the housing story took off today. Rogers tried to play down the story, saying that reports of the many McCain houses were overstated.

"The reality is they have some investment properties and stuff. It's not as if he lives in ten houses. That's just not the case," Rogers said. "The reality is they have four that actually could be considered houses they could use."

Those four include an apartment in Arlington, a ranch in Sedona, and two condos, in California and Phoenix, he said. The others include "some investment properties and things like that."

He also added: "This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years -- in prison," referring to the prisoner of war camp that McCain was in during the Vietnam War.

Rush Limbaugh referred to Obama as a "little black man-child".

Hell, why doesn't he just come out and call him boy?

What a tortured way to do it.

By the way, McCain owns just one house: parts of it just happens to reside in several states.

GrannyStandingforTruth said...

That's because it wasn't anything wrong with Trinity. This is not a new tactic, because the Republicans always slander and smear folks to win. It's part of their makeup/character. They're just a dishonest and crooked bunch of greedy, Republican politicians.

How long did McCain know Charles Keating? How long has Cindy McCain been stealing and taking drugs? How long has McCain been an adulterous? Is McCain hiding his military record because he knows that it will reveal his racist views? If they were giving out awards for the worlds biggest liars and cheats, the McCains would win heads up. I wonder when's the last time Cindy talk to Mother Teresa?

In speeches, Obama had said the Kennedy family provided funding for the 1959 airlift that brought his father from Kenya to the United States for an education. But according to research done by The Washington Post, the Kennedy clan didn’t contribute to the airlift efforts until 1960, a year after his father was already studying in Hawaii.

Noq, the guy remembers that the Karl Roves he hired to slam Obama's patriotism are the same ones who destroyed him in 2000. That's why he hired them. The only problem is...He forgot the principles he stood for that necessitated the use of the Karl Roves in the first place.

Because he has forgotten what few good principles he had in 2000 in order to appeal to the right wing of the Republican party, because this made him one of the greatest flip floppers of all time the Obama campaign needs to help the American voters of it.

Field, especially independents, are considering voting for the McCain of the Straight-talk express of 2008, the one now in route to Karl Rove's house to try to dig up dirt on Rezko flap is not enough.

If so, it's both. The fact is, some of the those nine homes were owned by Cindy Lou (don't you just love those white trash names?) before the Old Coot started nailing her.

Out of touch with the common folk? Of course he is. Just like Hillary Clinton is out of touch with the common folk.

When you're worth more than a $100 million, travel by private jet and have multiple keys to multiple homes on your keychain, do you think these people keep up with KMart's Blue Light specials on Tide and Tums?

Now that the Old Coot has selected Willard "Mitt" Romney as his veep, you have the classic GOP dream ticket: two, white, rich guys, with overly Botoxed country club wives, who own 10 homes between them.

Its really gonna hurt McCain's feelings when after dragging up the Rezko story which both Chicago papers investigated and research to damn death and Obama gave the most open interviews in history - its gonna hurt when all that needs to happen is to show the story of one son or daughter who buried their poor parents who lost their life savings in Lincoln Savings & Loan back in the 80s. To watch their sad eyes as they talk about the struggle of thier parents to survive after losing everything. To tell the tale of their father having to take a job bagging groceries when he was in his late 60s. That's gonna be a bitch.

McCains Bought Second Beach Condo At Around Time McCain Said Struggling Homeowners Needed To Skip Vacations
By Greg Sargent - August 21, 2008, 2:37PM

Here's a fun little find that is likely to give Dems more ammo to blast away at John McCain's number-of-houses gaffe.

It turns out that a few months ago, a McCain family corporation closed on a second multi-million-dollar beach condo in the same building in exclusive Coronado, California -- at around the same time that John McCain offered his somewhat tone-deaf observation that struggling homeowners were "working at second jobs" and "skipping a vacation" in order to make mortgage payments on time.

Cindy McCain discussed the timing of the second condo purchase in a June interview with Vogue magazine (not online) that's newly relevant in light of the explosive controversy over John McCain's inability to recall how many homes the McCains own.

And in another fun fact that could pour fuel on this controversy, Cindy told her interviewer that the reason they needed a second beach condo in the Coronado building was that the first was too crowded because her kids were staying there and as a result she "couldn't get in the place."

Cindy continued: "So I bought another one."

Here's the relevant passage, from the start of the Vogue piece:

"It is a late Sunday afternoon in April, and I am sitting in a condominium in Coronado, California, taking in the view of the gorgeous San Diego Bay with Cindy McCain. She closed on the place just two weeks earlier, and the only things unpacked so far are the family photos that dot almost every surface. It's her family's second condo in the building. "I like the ocean, and the kids love it here, and I love that," she tells me, curled up on a nondescript couch that looks like it might have come with the apartment. "When I bought the first one, my husband, who is not a beach person, said, 'Oh, this is such a waste of money; the kids will never go.' Then it got to the point where they used it so much I couldn't get in the place. So I bought another one."

According to a July story in The Politico, a McCain family corporation spent a combined $4.7 million on the two condos in Coronado.

If the interview was conducted sometime in April, and she'd closed on the condo two weeks earlier, that means that the latest the closing could have happened is mid-April, and the earliest is mid-March.

On March 25, John McCain said:

"And 51 million homeowners are doing what's necessary: working at second jobs, skipping a vacation, and managing their budgets to make their payments on time."

So at around the time McCain said this, the McCain family corporation was either actively in the market for, or had closed on, a second multi-million-dollar beach condo in the same building which was necessary because the first one was too crowded with their children in it.

There are parables that can be made like a bar graph side by side. The O-Man has a half brother, that he has even mentioned in his books, the Mortons also have siblings and half this and thats, do they mention them? Not so much.

The Obama's have a mansion. Yippee, a mansion in an urban setting. The McCains have so much they can't even keep track. Also the McCains have land. That do gooder Rezko bought the adjoining parcel probably to give the Obama's some space. What a guy.

The Mortons at one time had a palace in Arizona that Hearst would have admired. Pool, the whole nine.

AND, the question of Obama's citizenship. Well now let's see. John McCain was born in Panama.

Sure there are parables, but the Morton graph goes through the roof. John McCain is an elitist. But he is actually quite poor when you really think about it. He isn't in any single assuming way, a self made man. Obama I think is. And a shrewd one at that.

He terrifies the right.
