SAINTS WIN!

I am watching the Super Bowl halftime show and trying my best to explain to Mrs. Field just who The Who is. (Try saying that five times really fast.) Needless to say, she is disappointed. "Couldn't they have come up with a better band?" she is asking me, as if I run the NFL.

Anywhoo, other than a few dropped passes, it's been a well played game so far, and I have enjoyed it.

The commercials, on the other hand, not so much. I mean it's only the first half, but the CBS promos and that Snickers commercial have been the clear winners. Memo to the folks over at Doritos: Not cool playing into the Bebe's Kids stereotype. What else? Oh, and Latifah did alright with A-merry-ca the beautiful. The woman that sang the National anthem, I am not familiar with. Mrs. Field is into country and western and she says that she is a popular country and western singer. I guess she was OK, but after Whitney did her thing a few years back, the bar has been set higher than most folks can ever hope to reach.

Alright, let me get back to the game. I will finish this post later.

OH MY! WHO DAT NATION HAS WON A SUPER BOWL! Mrs. Field is ecstatic. Good for them. That city and the people down there have been through so much, they deserve this. Folks, the Quarter will be rocking tonight.

This just goes to show you that anything is possible in A-merry-ca. A black man is president and the Saints won a Super Bowl. What's next, the Clippers win an NBA title? OK, that's a stretch. But tonight you have to believe that everything is possible.

Finally, is it me or does it seem like the commercials are getting more lame every year? As usual I liked the E-Trade spots, and the Volkswagen spot with Tracy Morgan and Stevie was alright. But other than that....they need to start firing some ad. executives on Madison Avenue.

Oh well, I am off to bed now. What, you thought I was rooting for the Saints because of Drew Brees? ;)

Tell Mrs. Field that the Who was a great band when they were young. It is painful watching a band I loved in my youth as old codgers who really, really, should not still be playing! I agree, the game is engaging and I am hoping the Saints pull it out!

I am happy that they have something to finally celebrate about, because yes, they have truly been through a lot. After the storm comes the rainbow.

I liked the Bridgestone commercial with the orca. And somehow I missed the anti-abortion spot, though I did see the Tebows in the pre-game.

That fourth quarter was beautiful, eh?

Yes Jody, the Who was a great band, but too old to carry on the energy need for such a performance. My father made a suggestion of a jazz group, but I informed him that it would not be appropriate because that would be like having the composer Phillip Glass performing at a cookout.

However, I am glad that the Saints won as it quite morale boost for the city.

I knew the Saints were going to win because AB was rooting for the Colts. LOL.

"Mrs. Field is into country and western and she says that she is a popular country and western singer."

Does Mrs. Field appreciate Taylor Swift? She's very talented.

The anti-abortion spot was about 15 seconds long at the very beginning of the game....and was nothing like I heard described. I think either CBS finally listened, or F*ckus on the Family was messing with us.

Yea, Saints! They kicked some little horsey tail tonight, eh?

...yop

And you know that The Who was only in the halftime show because of their name, right?

The anti-abortion spot was the best commercial of the game. It was an attention getter.

let's see what else was in the news... in Florida, a killer gunned down two street preachers. Can anybody guess what color the killer is? Huh? It's easy to guess correctly, isn't it...

The Who were, simply put, embarrassing. They provided the soundtrack to my teenage years, back in the dark ages of 45 rpm, and are now reduced to a geriatric Super Bowl half time show. Yeah, I hope I die before I get old. Except I mean it.

Good win for the Saints. I was pulling for them and, against all odds, they won.

The Tebow ad was obviously reworked after the Focus on the Family were busted for pushing an obviously phony story.

Well...I might be old, but I ain't blind now and I always did have a fondness for chocolate.

Sadly, I guess that now people only know The Who for their intro songs on CSI.

the super bowl is over
Who Dat won the game
all in all exciting
nobody should feel shame

what's up with the commercials
they have fell a notch or two
most weren't even funny
at least not like the Who

60 year old greasers
were once a great rock band
tonight seemed quite pathetic
and totally fucking bland

must be crazy in the Quarter
Mardi Gras is on its way
that place will be a rocking
when the Saints come home to play

every super bowl winner
their city throws a parade
but after this one's over
all the rest will be a charade

Now back to the Supper Bowl. I wanted the Colts to win for two reasons: 1) Colts Center Jeff Saturday is the brother of my son's teacher amd 2) the Colts have a Black coach. : - )

New Orleans should be very happy because they have the Super Bowel and a white Mayor. : - ) Perhaps now they can rebuild the lower 9th ward so some folks can return home.

OK, good one, I get it. :)

Geneva Girl, that shows you how much I know, I didn't even know that the CSI song was theirs.

OH my, that's right, AB is a Colts fan. Well, better luck next year.

"..but I informed him that it would not be appropriate because that would be like having the composer Phillip Glass performing at a cookout."

Hennasplace, I love that analogy.

MeandMyMic.., I am going to call your husband. :)

news, thanks for reminding us all that your kind is still left in A-merry-ca. It's why we do what we do. Oh well, the game was a nice distraction for ahwile.

Anon 7:44... I suspect you are childless. You must be because if you cannot understand the love of a parent who wants the best for their child. And the anguish they must feel at not being able to provide for their child. And the selfless act of actually giving their child to others who promise a better, safe, healthy life.... Well, I would say you are a quart low on your humanity... but then given your statement, I wonder if you have any capacity at all for an an ounce of humanity for anyone. You sir, are the absence of love, thus that makes you the definition of evil

Jody Cunt: You miss my point. Of course you do. FN make a racist post slamming the whiteys for taking these kiddos and the whole black community on here slammed the kiddos and now we find out they were given away...hmmmm....but you are not smart enough to see what I was saying.

black racist field doesn't like it when anybody points out that the "African Americans" are the most violent and amoral people to ever live on the earth. That fits, because field himself has no personal morals, only his us-vs-them racial attitudes.

Meanwhile, another news story: in San Francisco, a shooting outside a nightclub leaves 1 dead and 4 injured. Can anybody guess what color the killer is?

And Field, the ol' man will be OK. He's a 6'4" bar of chocolately goodness too. Yummy!!!

So weird - have the tv on today, and they're talking about some weather stuff up North. I still hear some whoops outside, I heard them all night, the paper was stolen this morning but it's okay, the celebration still fills this city. This weekend is one of the best ever in NOLA; we have a mayor and a slew of new reps and judges elected, based on ability, not surface character. Yes, a white mayor, but some of you must have missed the huge cross-over for AA candidates - outsiders can call it race based, but they haven't been here. We are all family in NOLA. The party started at 12th night, the Super Bowl (and I never cared about football before) pushes it to a new high, and we still have a week of Carnival left. If your heart is right, we want you to come, help us celebrate in this most amazing, loving city!

I wish I could say that I was rooting for the Saints because of some deep philosophical or sentimental reason. The truth, there is a right wing nut/tea bag, whom I debate from time to time online, who is a die hard Colts fan.The chances that he is quite possibly now in the intermediate stages of suicidal depression due the Colts getting creamed, simply fills my heart with joy.

I share your reservations about NO new Mayor. Not because he is white but because who he his.Mitch Landrieu is NO new Mayor-elect,if the name sort of ring a bell it should, he is the brother of U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu.
Y'all remember Mary she is one the blue dogs who actively "helped" the Healthcare Bill be as useful as toilet paper.

Also his father was the last white mayor of NO,which I am guessing resulted in alot of sentimental voting

I am thinking why in the hell would you vote a guy whose sister, for all intents and purposes, helped kill grandma.

One other thing the guy was Lt. Gov of Louisiana during Katrina disaster.Remember that black people that little incident when y'all got screwed over. SMDH

This my prediction the good mayor is going to turn the 9th Ward in to an industrial complex for greedy, polluting corporations. All brought to you by the idiot voters of NO.

So howcome in a nation of over 300 million there's not one Black Punter or Place Kicker??? I mean I can understand the underrepresentation in the Sciences, Professions, and Ice Hockey, but whats so hard about kickin a ball??
And Quarterback requires a degree of abstract thought that Michael Vick has never really demonstrated
And there hasn't been an NFL White defensive Back this Millenium, wheres those Quotas when you really need em'
and I didn't see any Asians, Jews, or American Indians either.

During the last NOLA mayoral election, I listened to several racists state they were voting for Nagin because of what Mitch Landrieu's Moon did for . . . and then they used a word I was raised never to use. Haven't been inside that place since. Nagin is not the chocolate candidate - go by character, not color. The man was a Repug who switched parties before he announced his candidacy. I expected good things with his first administration, but the flood seemed to destroy his mind (and values). Hope he leaves soon to join his family in Texas. ( Thanks for allowing a rant.)

And so it began...with me showing the crowd of people how to do a second line dance in the "upscale" sports "restaurant" to get the party started...I then decided to move MY party to the west side of town...WES SYDE!...and found that the second line was in the streets (as it should be!)

oh what a wonderful night...making all my friends pay off their bets...and it ended with me having a long day at work that was filled with desire...the desire to take my azz home and crawl into bed! ;)

oh - and for the annon. that said something about NO being a chocolate city - not true - that title belongs solely to Washington DC.

The DNA science shows that we are all descended from the same ancestors. So every white no matter how lilylike has "black" in them. See Scientific American from last year. There have also been articles about prehistoric migration that they have been able to trace with the changes in DNA.

Whodat! Whodat! Whodat!

Diehard Saint fan since '92 here and believe me when I say that I have died HARD when it comes to my beloved Saints. So happy and proud of the players and the organization. The defense and special teams won the game. Brees was incredible. Tracy Porter, legend killer. LOL.

Great game. HUGE victory for not only players, fans alike, but for the spirit of New Orleans.

The team is relatively young - we might return. 2013, New Orleans host the Super Bowl.

Anything is possible.
