Over ten hours in and we are still waiting on the jury to come back with a verdict in the Michael Dunn case. It looks like there are some folks in the jury room who are holding out against a conviction of the aforementioned Mr. Dunn. (Hmmm, hung jury anyone?)
Still, you never know with juries. You can try to get an advantage with them during the Voir dire process, but people lie.
Mr. Dunn's attorney held a news conference today to blame the Zimmerman case for his client having to go through what he did. Apparently before Trayvon Martin was killed it was cool to shoot and kill unarmed teenagers because they were playing their music too loud.
So poor Trayvon gets blamed for the death of Jordan Davis as well. (*shaking head*)
Anyway, speaking of white men with guns; did you hear the one about the dude out in California?
"A white California man who told cops he'd been shot by a black man has confessed he made the entire story up and had actually fired the gun at himself.
Officers found Brent Thomas Posada suffering from gunshot wounds at his Redding home at 8:18 p.m. on Feb. 1.
The 34-year-old claimed a black man had approached him and pointed a gun at his head.
Posada alleged that, when he pushed the suspect's arm to the side, the gun went off. A bullet struck him in the stomach, he added.
But when police searched the area, they found no evidence to back up his claims, reports Redding.com.
Investigators analyzed Posada's clothes and found evidence that seemed to contradict his original statement....Posada was recalled for questioning and, on Monday, reportedly admitted to intentionally shooting himself with a high-powered air rifle." [Source]
When are these folks going to learn? You can't just blame the black man like you did in the past. I think Susan Smith changed all that.
Anyway, Mr. Posada was dumb enough to shoot himself with a "high powered air rifle". So I seriously doubt that he thought this thing through.
Michael Dunn didn't think through his crime, either. But hey, maybe he didn't have to.
