Dr. Ben's remedy.

"I want to plant in people's minds what to do in a situation like this. Because unfortunately this is probably not going to be the last time this happens," he told CBS. Earlier, Carson had said that if he had been present at the Oregon attack, he would "not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say, 'Hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can't get us all.'"

????????

No words.

Anyway, keep in mind that this man is polling number two in the republican primary race for president.

Still, apparently Dr.Ben feels that he can speak this way about this issue because he has had his own personal experience to call on.

"Carson also told to SiriusXM radio host Karen Hunter on Wednesday that he was once held at gunpoint at a Popeye's fried chicken fast food restaurant in Baltimore. But his approach was nothing like the one he advocated.

"Guy comes in, puts the gun in my ribs. And I just said, "I believe that you want the guy behind the counter,'" Carson recounted in his usual, laid-back tone. "He said, 'Oh, okay,' and moved on."

First of all Dr. Ben, what the hell are you doing at Popeye's? As a physician, you,of all people,  should know that fried foods are not good for you.

Honestly, the guy holding the gun on Dr. Ben probably fell asleep when the good doctor started talking. When he (the robber) said, "Oh okay",  he was just waking up.

Serious question: Why can't the republican party recruit a serious African American candidate to represent them on the national stage? (Colin Powell where are you?) First Herman Cain and now this guy. It's embarrassing.

Finally, speaking of republican presidential candidates. Now that you can get around South Carolina easier in a boat than you can a car, their senior senator is asking for federal aid.

It's funny how that works. You should never turn your back on others because one day you might be in the same boat. (No pun intended.)

Lindsey Graham thought that it was cool to play politics and vote against Sandy storm relief  for the people in New Jersey. Now his decision is coming back to haunt him, and he swears that he doesn't remember ever voting against getting the people of New Jersey federal funds.

Lindsey, maybe this will help refresh your memory:

"South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham is seeking federal aid after his home state was ravaged by deadly floods amid historic rainfall triggered by Hurricane Joaquin.
“Let’s just get through this thing,” Graham said in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on “The Situation Room” Monday. “And whatever it costs, it costs.”
But in 2013, Graham was among 36 Senate Republicans who voted against giving similar aid to New Jersey in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. (The bill passed in a 62 to 36 vote.)
Graham told Blitzer he didn’t remember opposing the $50.5 billion Sandy relief bill.
“I’m all for helping the people in New Jersey. I don’t really remember me voting that way,” Graham said. “I don’t really recall that, but I’d be glad to look and tell you why I did vote no, if I did.”
Graham wasn’t the only 2016 presidential candidate to oppose Sandy relief. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz also voted against the package.
“Hurricane Sandy inflicted devastating damage on the East Coast, and Congress appropriately responded with hurricane relief. Unfortunately, cynical politicians in Washington could not resist loading up this relief bill with billions in new spending utterly unrelated to Sandy,” Cruz told the Houston Chronicle at the time. “This bill is symptomatic of a larger problem in Washington — an addiction to spending money we do not have. The United States Senate should not be in the business of exploiting victims of natural disasters.[Source]
And check out the words of Ted Cruz quoted above.
Well, as it turns out, he has a problem as well.
"But as floodwaters raged in Texas earlier this year, Cruz praised the federal support his state was receiving.
“We’re seeing cooperation from state government, the local government and the federal government all standing together at a time of great challenge,” Cruz said".
On second thought, I think that Dr. Ben will do just fine in the republican primary.

Hey Field, leave my man Dr. Carson alone. He is a serious candidate but besides him yes the GOP has trouble attracting serious blah candidates, for that matter serious candidates period. I saw this firsthand in Illinois when Barack was running for the U.S. Senate seat here. The first gop candidate had to withdraw because some allegations came out about his freaky side dealings and the Illinois gop thought it was a good idea to go out of the state and nominate an insane negro who was living in Maryland at the time. I guess their thoughts were, them negroes just vote for each other so maybe they won't be able to tell the difference. I mean Alan Keyes? Really? For those diehards who hate Barack blame the Illinois gop for his ascendancy because had they nominated a serious candidate such as former governor Jim Edgar (sure he said he didn't want to run but I'm sure if they ran their backup plan by him he would have considered it) or any serious candidate it would have at least been a contest. Hell, we do have a Republican senator in Illinois but he isn't insane. Long story short the gop is happy to have any negro.
(Search for the picture of the Durahm County Blah Republicans for some hilarity).

Colin Powell now says he is only still a Republican because it makes the other Republicans mad. He is trolling the party because he thinks it has gone stark raving insane.

I am not making this up. He really said this at the Washington Ideas Forum recently:

“'I continue to be a Republican because it annoys them,' Powell told host Walter Isaacson. 'I think the party has shifted much further right than where the country is, and it should be obvious to party leaders that they cannot keep saying and doing the things that they were doing and hope to be successful in national-level election in the future — not just in 2016.'”

With regards to Ben Carson and his recommended method for dealing with mass shooters, Dr. Carson would like everyone to know that he is not only a respected neurosurgeon but also a certified ninja.

No, that was just the excuse the Teabillies trotted out to justify flipping the middle finger at New York and New Jersey, because those are largely Democratic states so fuck 'em.

But now that a storm has hit somewhere in Teabilly country, everything's TOTALLY different. (Well, I take that back. Not everything. As with all natural disasters, they are claiming this one happened because people were too nice to queers, which makes God rather grumpy.)

No, he was talking about his ability, as an unarmed person, to Kung-Fu and disarm a goon with a gun bent on shooting everyone. Dr. Ben obviously would have been able to do this, unlike all those un-American pussies in Oregon who went and let themselves get shot.

It's basically like an eight-year-old boy explaining to his friends how he'd have had the ultimate badass response if he'd been targeted in the 9/11 attacks:

If I'd been there, I'd have escaped the burning World Trade Center, using a parachute I'd fashioned out of paper towels from the lavatory to parachute to safety. Then I'd have run all the way to Arabiastan and punched Bin Laden in the throat!

I never know whether to laugh or be appalled at Dr. Ben's deranged comments.

Yeah, but the NRA is always going on about "good guys with guns" and how they'll heroically stop these shooting incidents by taking out the maniac ... except untrained civilians with guns (as opposed to hardened police or military personnel) usually don't.

And if the guys who were armed in this situation didn't volunteer to be heroes, what is the likelihood of the unarmed people volunteering to do so, like Dr. Ben suggested?

Human psychology suggests most civilians in these circumstances will either hide under a desk and wet themselves, freeze like a deer in the headlights, or run away. If most people had the courage and presence of mind to bum rush the assailant, I'm sure they would, but they don't. This is the fatal flaw in Carson's plan.

A man in Carson's position, with Carson's education, should know more than enough about fight-flight to be able to deduce, at the very least, that there is no "should" in a situation. I mean, hell, this isn't even an exact science in soldiering. You can take an individual into the armed forces, train them to use their weapon, train them to fire, train them to stay cool under pressure, and still one might freeze as they see their friends' heads blown off by bullets, or just from the sheer horror. There is no correct or incorrect anything in these scenarios. People react different. People react. People freeze. People may lunge and do dumb things, while others may freeze when they could have done something, and it's just picking at people in hindsight to put a "should" on it.

That he doesn't seem to get that troubles me a bit.

"As a physician you, of all people, you should know that fried foods are not good for you."

Maybe as a physician Carson understands that this is a pure myth. A meme. Fried foods, when done properly, absorb very minimal amounts of oil* (just science: water inside the food pushes oil away from food) and are not even an iota as unhealthy as what food nazis want to preach. Anyone who wants to learn how to properly fry, shoot over to the Food Network and check out Alton Brown, and fry some more. Besides, bad cholesterol is mostly genetic.

*Not to mention most of today's popular oils have zero trans fats.

"Dear Mr Field, I would like to call your attention to some nasty comments in the previous thread toward JOSH..."

1) You're not allowed to be black and agree with anything I say. That's a rule pushed here. You'll be whiter than a web background for doing such.

2) The trolls don't bother me. I know who two of them are, and they're cowards who hide behind fake names just to troll, looking for a response. I just laugh at the irony. (A) They proclaim that I'm a bigot but then smear me as "gay," as if there's something wrong with being gay and that calling me gay is a huge insult that will piss me off. (B) They cheapen the word "slave" by labeling me as such. (C) Their combined force in attempting to insult me is about indiscernible from PC's attempts to argue; e.g. all they do is pull shit completely out of context, creating non sequiturs, and create straw-men to attack and then stomp around like they score points. It's really hilarious, and it's actually flattering in a roundabout way. I mean, here am I, some random guy they don't know from anyone, and they literally converge off-site to coordinate personal attacks against me in hopes of getting a reaction.

Who the hell am I? Apparently, to them, I'm a thorn in their side. From threatening to kill me to "smearing" me as gay to attributing shit to me I never said, it's too fucking funny and too ironic to get peeved at. If only they would have tried this hard in school...

This is 4th grade shit, and you want to present yourself on the PHD tip when you can't even sit right at the kiddie table.

OY, YOY, YOY. This gets weirder and fucking weirder.

My question was (and remains) what is the source of this alleged "natural warming" of yours?

...also this sentence...

...The greenhouse effect is about, primarily, the atmosphere and didn't come about to measure man's impact on the environment....

...does that make sense even to you?

Josh said...

Holy shit, you're not only the most dishonest troll I've met; you're also the most persistent.

What I said: The greenhouse effect measures--wait for it--the the greenhouse effect and thus it doesn't matter what acts as the warming, in the context of the man-caused vs. natural dichotomy.

I literally cannot wrap my head around you being this stupid a person to not know what natural warming is. All you need to do is literally Google what the fucking greenhouse effect is.

Straight from Google: "The greenhouse effect is the process by which radiation from a planet's atmosphere warms the planet's surface to a temperature above what it would be in the absence of its atmosphere. If a planet's atmosphere contains radiatively active gases (i.e., greenhouse gases) the atmosphere radiates energy in all directions. Part of this radiation is directed towards the surface, warming it."

Umm...natural "warming" occurrences like, say, the fucking sun's radiation entering our atmosphere, bouncing off the surface, and becoming trapped in atmospheric gases.

But according to your extreme bungling of a scientific principle so simplistic grade-schoolers can grasp it, the planet somehow doesn't warm at all unless man causes it! Great fucking science and logic you're using there, buddy. How the shit was the planet ever warm enough for life without man? Using your understanding, we existed in a perpetual ice age without man magically creating warming!

I reckon you're a creationist now and it musta been Fred Flintstone causing warming in the days of the dinosaurs? The world was a hell of a lot hotter then, but impossibru says you, because apparently the greenhouse effect cannot occur unless it's via man-caused warming; e.g. man putting gases into the air to trap radiation.

It's as if you think literally that these gases don't exist naturally, aren't part of the atmosphere, or need man to serve as the catalyst. And you are seriously here arguing your extreme ignorance of the topic over multiple posts at Field's.

"The greenhouse effect is about, primarily, the atmosphere and didn't come about to measure man's impact on the environment....

...does that make sense even to you?"

Yes, you stone-stupid motherfucker. It makes perfect sense, because it's a fact. The greenhouse effect wasn't invented to measure man-caused global warming, you stunad. This shit was noticed back in the early fucking 1800s, and the culprit then, well before industrialized people, was natural warming ala the sun's radiation being trapped once reflected by natural atmospheric gases.

But you'll still want to spin that to say that I'm trying to say climate change is natural, or some such other shit that I never said. And you'll do this because you're a fucking moron without an ounce of shame and who, even when shown demonstrably to be wrong, couldn't care less because nobody holds you to account for your extreme, objective idiocy on the topic.

The Purple Cow said...

"What I said: The greenhouse effect measures--wait for it--the the greenhouse effect and thus it doesn't matter what acts as the warming, in the context of the man-caused vs. natural dichotomy. "

So the Greenhouse effect measures the greenhouse effect does it?

Thanks for laying that one down on us genius.

Of course, I said no such thing.

This is the line you heard if you had your eyes glued to Breitbart, or one of the other wingnut propaganda spigots.

But let's review what actually happened:

Hurricane Sandy happened amidst Republicans' stupid deficit-cutting mania. When a large outlay was necessary to repair infrastructure destroyed by the storm and help people left homeless in NY and NJ, Congressional Republicans decided to be enormous assholes and exploit this disaster to demand that every dime spent on disaster aid be "offset" by cutting aid to poor people or axed from healthcare spending or carved out of some place else in the federal budget. By the way, this offset business is something they never have done, and never would do, for disaster aid in a Republican state. Just nasty-ass, naked partisanship at a time of misery for people suffering from a natural disaster.

So rather than deal with their infantile antics, Harry Reid took what I'd consider the sensible route -- he went around them. He bought off a few Republican senators' votes, got his aid passed with a combination of their votes and Democrats', and told the rest of the GOP to fuck off and die. That's right, most of that pork you heard about was a bribe that went to a few Republican districts to persuade them to stop acting like morons and support necessary disaster aid. Naturally, this then led to the "pork" tantrum from the GOP.

From Forbes:

"Why, you might ask, would the Senate be packing billions of taxpayer dollars for these areas of the country that are nowhere near the devastation brought about by superstorm Sandy into a bill designed to bring relief to those suffering from the storm that ripped the northeastern part of the nation?

The answer can be found in a quick review of the states that are set to benefit from the Senate’s extra-special benevolence—states including Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana.

What, you may ask, do these states far from New York and New Jersey have in common?

Each is not only a red state, but each of these states are represented by two Republican senators—with the exception of Louisiana with its one GOP senator.

And what happens when you buy off seven Republican senators with a package of goodies under the guise of storm relief supposedly meant to benefit two blue states?

You get yourself a filibuster proof piece of legislation.

Coincidence? Not at all. We know this because Harry Reid told us so in press conference held on December 20, a time when everyone’s attention was so glued to the fiscal cliff drama that any talk of any other bills was completely lost in the wind.

Here’s what Majority Leader Reid had to say:

'We have other important things to do here in the Senate. We have — we’re going on almost two months now without giving relief to the northeast who were struck by that violent storm, Sandy. 700,000 or 800,000 homes destroyed in New Jersey and New York alone. When Irene struck, we acted very quickly. We didn’t wait and say, well let’s see, Alabama has two Republican senators, Mississippi has two Republican senators, Texas has two Republican senators, Louisiana has one Republican senator,'

While it would appear that Reid figured out—all on his own—that adding in these pork benefits for his Republican colleagues would insure passage of the relief bill without requiring the need to devote endless hours heading off yet another GOP filibuster effort, it is clear that these GOP senators—each and every one of them a supposed mortal enemy of unnecessary government spending—did not rush to request that the money be removed from the bill so as to save the nation a few billion bucks.

There are more than 300,000,000 privately owned guns in America, and less than 250 instances of them being used in legitimate civilian self defense (about as many as win a million dollars or more in a lottery) each year according to the FBI. For every successful civilian use of a gun in self defense, 10 have their guns taken away and used on them. You're more than 100 times more likely to die or lose a loved one to your gun, by suicide, accident, domestic violence, or having it taken away and used by an attacker, than you are to use it in self defense. You're almost a thousand times more likely to have your gun stolen than to use it in self defense in any given year.

Jeb's trying, though. He says that not only would he not restore the provisions of the Voting Rights Act that the Supreme Court recently gutted, but he definitely would not reauthorize the Act at all, because racism is over in the South.

"WASHINGTON -- Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said Thursday that he opposes reauthorizing the Voting Rights Act, the landmark civil rights law whose protections the Supreme Court watered down in 2013.

'There's been dramatic improvement in access to voting. I mean exponentially better improvement,' the presidential candidate said in Iowa. "Again, I said absolutely no such thing."

Motherfucker, you sat right there on your high horse in Field's previous post and literally argued with me that the greenhouse effect can't measure natural warming; in fact arguing with me that there is NO "natural" warming.

So say whatever the fuck you want after that. Your beliefs have been espoused, and exposed as retarded.

According to you, natural warming of the planet cannot possibly exist, therefore the planet musta been a huge chunk of ice prior to some point--let's call it X--when magic happened. And man was already mysteriously here when it happened.

This isn't me. This is simply walking back logically through a past that you believe we inhabited, where the entire greenhouse effect was only invented to measure warming, and where C02 levels in the atmosphere only increase if man does it. A world where the greenhouse effect is only here because of man in the first place. Yes, you did make that claim -- multiple times.

What I don't understand, legitimately, is why you'd go out and read--at least claim to read--peer-reviewed scientific journals to find out about man-caused climate change and ho-hum axiomatic predictions of influence, but act literally repulsed by simply Googling the fucking greenhouse effect to find out what it is, how it works, and that's about the Earth's atmosphere trapping and spreading heat through radiation and the natural methods by which it worked long, long before man ever appeared on the planet. One 10-second search and you could have avoided the embarrassment of showing your ignorance.

Well, never fucking mind. WTF am I talking about? There is no embarrassment for someone without shame. Even shown to be demonstrably wrong and objectively a moron, you'll still say you're somehow right. There's that "black blog" in action.

It's this sort of insane paranoia that keeps blacks on the plantation.

Republicans a're going to put y'all back in chains!

Keep jigging Anon, you know we love ya for it.

"So the Greenhouse effect measures the greenhouse effect does it?"

And you still can't grasp what the fuck it is, even after being shown verbatim what it is.

Let's see if we can speak to you on your level, that of a retarded third-grader awaiting social promotion:

You see, the gravitational constant has a "pull" like force on rocks and debris, and in the bent fabric of spacetime, planets will often form and be locked into an elliptical orbit with much larger objects. In the case of planets in our solar system, that object is the sun -- our star. A planet without an atmosphere is subject to all the rigors of space: extreme cold, extreme heat, extreme radiation from the sun, etc. A planet with an atmosphere, however, may be subject to the greenhouse effect, whereby radiatively gases, if present in the body's atmosphere, will cause said body to become warmer than it would otherwise be absent the atmosphere. So, does the greenhouse effect, as a principle, measure types of gases, amounts of gases, radiation levels, or discern between who or what is triggering the effect? "No" is the correct answer, students. The greenhouse effect measures the greenhouse effect, because all it is, to put it simply, is a process. It is what happens to bodies with atmospheres containing such gases, no more and no less.

Some people you encounter in life, students, will have a religious-like take on these things, believing that such an effect is impossible without human beings serving as the catalyst. These people are wrong, whether they know it or not.

The actual people involved in the mass shooting in Oregon are not amused by Dr. Ben's remarks. Matthew Downing was one of the students that the killer arbitrarily decided not to shoot.

“I’m fairly upset he said that. Nobody could truly understand what actions they would take like that in a situation unless they lived it,” Downing told CNN.

"Motherfucker, you sat right there on your high horse in Field's previous post and literally argued with me that the greenhouse effect can't measure natural warming; in fact arguing with me that there is NO "natural" warming. "

Try and calm down Josh, there's a good little boy.

I said no such thing.

I know concentration isn't really your thing Josh, but if you try hard to remember, you will realise that the question I asked was, "where is the massive increase in temperature since 1900 (>o.85c) coming from, it is not man made, given that the natural Milankovitch cycles are of the order of 0.5c degrees per 8000 years."

Josh said...

Oh, horseshit. That's one of your straw-men, by which you attempted to imply that I was denying man-made climate change, a claim which I never made.

What you said was that there can be NO greenhouse effect without man!

And then you went on, riding your high horse, to throw quotations around "natural," implying that there is NO "natural" warming which occurs.

Dude, it's life. You didn't know WTF the greenhouse effect was. You thought you'd throw out some shit to score some points. You would rather argue with a person you "despise" than to actually read what's written right in front of your face. And you got called on your idiocy.

That doesn't mean you're a full-fledged retard in all walks of life. Whatever you do for a living, I'm sure you're good at it. You're probably a good family dude, takes care of his business, etc. On a personal level, you might be a good, moderately intelligent individual. You're my little buddy. But in the realm of science and logic, you habitually shit the bed here, yet still thump your chest screaming like you've won something. You had no fucking clue what the greenhouse effect was, no clue that the planet heats naturally per its atmosphere absent man-made influence, and still have no clue WTF a straw-man is, apparently.

It's not the end of the world. So you took a beating in front of everyone. So what? Sun'll be out tomorrow. Water will still taste good. Life will continue on.

Oh, anon troll, I've been done learned. This being a "black blog," which I'm reminded of on the daily, it doesn't matter that PC shit the bed and has no fucking idea what the greenhouse effect actually is. I'm white, he's black, therefore I'm wrong and he's right.

What else is there to learn?

The only possible remedy in existence is, as Daniels' wife told him, not to even play. But why give you coward pussy trolls the satisfaction in that? I look forward to your one-line insults and obsession with me. I'm a random fucking stranger on the Internet, yet you morons devote legitimate time and energy to converge against me for trolling. Motherfuckers have formed a club over this shit.

I'm in your heads. I'm your fucking daddy. (And if any of you punks are 21 or younger, I might actually legitimately be...)

That's what I've learned. And that's the only lesson here:

White people can't be right on a "black blog," all whites are racists, your best and brightest, like PC, have IQs that don't break triple digits. Motherfuckers couldn't grasp physics with a Speak and Spell. Their idea of "hard science" is what a liberal blog pushes. The only time they ever use Google or research at all is to find stats on white police shooting black criminals.

Yeah, I've learned it all, absorbed it all, and am not impressed.

Try harder, bitch. WTF else you got going?

We've had some weird far-Right types on this blog over the years, but Josh is without doubt the strangest. His arguments are so incoherent, internally inconsistent and self-contradictory it's hard to know if he's genuinely insane, or if he is simply playing a game - trying to win arguments by confusing his opponents into incomprehension and/or boredom.

I'm still waiting for him to tell us which climate change scientist predicted that Florida would be under water by 2015.

I guess I'll be waiting a very long time.

Nighty night.

Listen Field Negro folks, having just read Josh's last post for the first time - I think it's very important that we help him out a little.

Clearly, it is very important to Josh's self-esteem - to his MANHOOD - that we all recognise that he is uniquely massively more intelligent than any and all black folks.

So I want you all to repeat after me....

Josh, you are an intellectual giant amongst men. Your arguments are so cohesive, so remarkable, so insightful, that little old black folks cannot possibly hope to match your intellectual magnificence. All hail Josh! Heil Josh!! Blue-eyed leader of men!!!!

Hope this helps with your problem, Josh....

I'm not the person you were addressing, but how about predictions that parts of NYC would be underwater, Purple Cow?

"While doing research 12 or 13 years ago, I met Jim Hansen, the scientist who in 1988 predicted the greenhouse effect before Congress. I went over to the window with him and looked out on Broadway in New York City and said, “If what you’re saying about the greenhouse effect is true, is anything going to look different down there in 20 years?”

He looked for a while and was quiet and didn’t say anything for a couple seconds. Then he said, “Well, there will be more traffic.” I, of course, didn’t think he heard the question right. Then he explained, “The West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be under water. And there will be tape across the windows across the street because of high winds."

Of course your stupid ass is still waiting. In your mind, I'm supposed to answer for claims I never made and I'm supposed to be held to account for your straw-men. And at this point, WTF else do you have to fall back on save your straw-men that you created? Pretty clear you don't have a fucking clue what's going on in reality, so better adjust things through your filter pronto, Tonto!

"So I want you all to repeat after me...."

Hey, if you need to appeal to your audience here, do what you must. Whatever you must do, other than to admit you're a fucking idiot, I expect nothing less.

After all, that's what bails you out 99% anyway -- having the troll triplets shit all over the post for twenty spam comments. But don't forget that you brought this shit up, attempting to star on me in a completely separate post of Field's. And you're the one here leaving double posts while trying to play the "Josh is the one worried about it" card. You're the motherfucker who thought he had an ironclad argument sewn up. Now I suppose you reluctantly decided to search the greenhouse effect on your own, and you understand how stupid you were.

If you need to use me to save face, downplaying your blunder, so be it. Or what's likely to happen, the anon triplets will come spammin' and shit'll go stone dead until next time you decide to dredge it up in a completely unrelated post.

But we both know you're not done with it. You'll do exactly as said and will pull straw-men out, expecting me to argue against stances I never took, and you'll dance around like you won something even after being shown demonstrably how little you fucking know about even basic grade-school science.
