I find it pretty interesting that Trump has fired Rex Tillerson for truthfully admitting that Russia tried to murder one of their ex-spies in the UK. My assessment that Putin may actually have some blackmail material on Trump has now increased 1000%.
Speaking of constant, chaotic hirings and firings, Trump has appointed a torturer, Gina Haspel, as head of the CIA. So Trump wasn’t bluffing on the campaign trail about his support for torture of accused terrorists. He wants to make that happen. Making America Evil Again.
Then there are his economic advisors. Trump previously appointed rejects and failures like Kevin Hassett and Peter Navarro to advise him. These are individuals who are not respected by their colleagues in the field of economics, and who have a record of being wrong about everything and never learning from their mistakes.
Now, Trump has also hired Larry Kudlow, Fox News blabbermouth and — here’s a rather important point — not even a real economist, just some hack who plays one on the teevee.
Our incompetent president continues to surround himself with the absolute worst people, who will either give him terrible advice or else spinelessly pretend to agree with whatever idiotic impulses pop into Trump’s tiny brain.

1) While it's never wise to read too much into any one election, this one is exactly the kind of result we want to see more of in the midterms, for all of the reasons I've already mentioned. With the Democrats, it's always a question of whether they'll actually bother showing up, and they did this time. We can speculate all night about whether that means their enthusiasm will make it to the ballot box, but if we were in a weak position, the Republicans wouldn't be freaking out as hard as they are right now.
2) Well, Haley just committed a similar sin to Tillerson's, and nobody's wondering whether she's on the outs, so perhaps there's something to what they said in "Fire and Fury"?
Let's see, did any of his staff accidentally do anything good?

4) Yup. The last time the kids were in the street about not wanting to be killed, they didn't possess the media savvy that these kids have just grown up with. I mean, we had the Diggers, and some other highly motivated groups doing some stuff that was radical at the time, but all in all, the media gatekeepers did a bang up job of marginalizing them and focusing the attention on their antics not their message. These kids aren't having any of that, thank you very much.
5) It might be a bigger deal if Phil Griffin wasn't so dead set on hiring every moldy Bush era dead ender he can scrape off of the bottom of the dumpster. I think people watch Rachel Maddow because she puts on a good program that you can learn some weird things from without hating anybody, but I could be wrong about that.
Since I've never owned a television, I might not be the best one to do criticism of that particular medium.
6) Well, it could be some of the more exciting and spy novel-y stuff that is every damn where in the media right now, or it could be that he's a rich, fat, white guy who has been focused on getting richer (& fatter & whiter) for so long that he's sort of trained himself in some, uh, unfortunate ways.
Like he's had a hard-on for a Trump Tower in Russia for a long time, and the closest he got to getting it to happen (and that means getting Putin to sign off on it) happened right when Putin annexed Crimea and invaded Ukraine, so the deal got nixed by, among other things, the sanctions we put on Russia for doing so.
So it's possible that the whole idea of diplomatic retribution has left a bad taste in his mouth and he sort of reflexively shies away from it unless he's already riled up and throwing a fit.
Or it's also possible that he is feeling politically vulnerable just now, and doesn't want Russia to do to him what he knows they did to the Democrats in 2016.
