Even folks in his own White House are baffled as to why, against the advice of his own national security team, he found it necessary to call Putin to congratulate him on his rigged election.

tr**p and Putin are ushering in some kind of inverse Cold War. Not only is the tr**p administration incompetent and racist, it's just plain bizarre.
Fergus knows he needs more Russian help if he wants to get re-elected, so he wants to ingratiate himself with Putin, or at least not piss him off and maybe subject himself and the Republicans to the same level of ratfucking that he knows Russia did to the Democrats in '16.
Whether there is more leverage-y stuff going on, we may find out in time when Mueller and his team work their way through it all, but I think most of the unseemly deference toward Putin can be explained by the simple political fear I described above, along with Fergus' fetishistic worship of daddy figures writ large, and I tend to not want to unnecessarily complicate things in order to explain them.

In agreement with Doug, Paradoctor and Pilot regarding Pres. Trump’s tax returns, for which Anon’s post at 12:12am sums up succinctly, “The Russian Pres. is aware of information so ruinous to the Trump Administration that Pres. Trump is running scared.”

When pointing out IRS regulations do not hinder releasing tax returns, at the end of the day, such a fact had no impact overcoming the perception that a “multi-billionaire” reality TV star could serve as president for all citizens.
