I don’t think that this guy qualifies as a terrorist. At least based on what has been reported thus far, there was no larger political agenda behind his actions. This guy was a garden-variety criminal. He shot up the newspaper because they had printed mean things about him.
Now, could Trump’s attacks on the press have had anything to do with it? Maybe. Verbally delegitimizing the news media and calling them all evil liars could certainly help an already disturbed man feel more justified in carrying out a violent vendetta against a newspaper he felt had wronged him. But this is ultimately hard to prove. He may have shot the place up anyway, had there been no President Trump ranting incoherently about the “lying press.” Much as I despise the president, this one is hard to definitively attribute to him.
But regardless of his culpability for this particular incident, Trump’s attempts to delegitimize the press because they accurately report on his incompetence and corruption are despicable.

What I think you are missing is that this new electorate will create a new society along the lines of the dysfunctional societies from whence they come.
