King trump.

TWEET MEI was out of pocket for a couple of weeks field hands, but it's nice to be back in Philly and checking up on some of the latest news and opeds about America and the current state of things.

The following article is on point about so called Christian conservatives in this country. If you have been listening to folks like Jerry Falwell, Jr. go on about this president, you will understand why I like articles like the following.

"Why Trump Reigns as King Cyrus

The Christian right doesn’t like the president only for his judges. They like his style.

The month before the 2018 midterms, a thousand theaters screened “The Trump Prophecy,” a film that tells the story of Mark Taylor, a former firefighter who claims that God told him in 2011 that Donald Trump would be elected president.

At a critical moment in the film, just after the actor representing Mr. Taylor collapses in the flashing light of an epiphany, he picks up a Bible and turns to the 45th chapter of the book of Isaiah, which describes the anointment of King Cyrus by God. In the next scene, we hear Mr. Trump being interviewed on “The 700 Club,” a popular Christian television show.

As Lance Wallnau, an evangelical author and speaker who appears in the film, once said, “I believe the 45th president is meant to be an Isaiah 45 Cyrus,” who will “restore the crumbling walls that separate us from cultural collapse.”

Cyrus, in case you’ve forgotten, was born in the sixth century B.C.E. and became the first emperor of Persia. Isaiah 45 celebrates Cyrus for freeing a population of Jews who were held captive in Babylon. Cyrus is the model for a nonbeliever appointed by God as a vessel for the purposes of the faithful.

The identification of the 45th president with an ancient Middle Eastern potentate isn’t a fringe thing. “The Trump Prophecy” was produced with the help of professors and students at Liberty University, whose president, Jerry Falwell Jr., has been instrumental in rallying evangelical support for Mr. Trump. Jeanine Pirro of Fox News has picked up on the meme, as has Ron Dermer, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, among many others.

As the Trump presidency falls under siege on multiple fronts, it has become increasingly clear that the so-called values voters will be among the last to leave the citadel. A lot of attention has been paid to the supposed paradox of evangelicals backing such an imperfect man, but the real problem is that our idea of Christian nationalism hasn’t caught up with the reality. We still buy the line that the hard core of the Christian right is just an interest group working to protect its values. But what we don’t get is that Mr. Trump’s supposedly anti-Christian attributes and anti-democratic attributes are a vital part of his attraction.

Today’s Christian nationalists talk a good game about respecting the Constitution and America’s founders, but at bottom they sound as if they prefer autocrats to democrats. In fact, what they really want is a king. “It is God that raises up a king,” according to Paula White, a prosperity gospel preacher who has advised Mr. Trump.

Ralph Drollinger, who has led weekly Bible study groups in the White House attended by Vice President Mike Pence and many other cabinet members, likes the word “king” so much that he frequently turns it into a verb. “Get ready to king in our future lives,” he tells his followers. “Christian believers will — soon, I hope — become the consummate, perfect governing authorities!”

The great thing about kings like Cyrus, as far as today’s Christian nationalists are concerned, is that they don’t have to follow rules. They are the law. This makes them ideal leaders in paranoid times.

“When are they going to start rolling out the boxcars to start hauling off Christians?” Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, asked in 2016. If you’re hearing those boxcars pulling up in the distance, as it were, you don’t merely overlook the antisocial qualities of a prospective leader, you embrace them as virtues.

Mr. Trump himself well understands this longing for the hard hand of the despot. “If you don’t mind me saying so, you’ve gotten soft,” he told Mr. Wallnau and other evangelical leaders during the 2016 campaign — much to their delight.

Another important thing to understand about Cyrus is that he is not a queen. In the Christian nationalist world, legitimate political power is largely male power. Mr. Drollinger insists that the Bible describes only “male leadership.”

Of course, there are those on the Christian right who have made a show of holding their noses while supporting Mr. Trump to advance their aims of stacking the Supreme Court or ending abortion. But we are kidding ourselves if we think their continuing support for him is purely transactional.

I have attended dozens of Christian nationalist conferences and events over the past two years. And while I have heard plenty of comments casting doubt on the more questionable aspects of Mr. Trump’s character, the gist of the proceedings almost always comes down to the belief that he is a miracle sent straight from heaven to bring the nation back to the Lord. I have also learned that resistance to Mr. Trump is tantamount to resistance to God.

This isn’t the religious right we thought we knew. The Christian nationalist movement today is authoritarian, paranoid and patriarchal at its core. They aren’t fighting a culture war. They’re making a direct attack on democracy itself.

They want it all. And in Mr. Trump, they have found a man who does not merely serve their cause, but also satisfies their craving for a certain kind of political leadership." [Source]

This is nothing new. Conservative Christians are the religious wing of the Republican Party. What was trump's promise, to repeal the Jones Act I think it is? They are acting just like their non-religious brotheren because they want total control over all levers of government and as the trolls on the other post were alluding if they don't get everything they want it's some kind of conspiracy. Compromise is a thing of the past. It's almost perfect if you think about it, a flock of sheep who believe everything their leader says and will mindlessly repeat the talking points. It doesn't help to be able to think for oneself and fancy themself a conservative.

Ya know something? I'm trying to be serious, here.

This is for all you who have or will have children one day.

MATH.

I was always an A or B student, without even cracking a book, thru grammar, high school, college, etc.

Except math. I could handle geometry, but once Algebra kicked-in, I was lost. Still am, to this day. I could whoop any of you in a General Knowledge Trivia contest any day of the week, but if it came to math, you would slaughter me.

My mind simply does not process math. I worked for a company for 28 years, making million dollars deals on a whim, with no real supervision, but I would have been lost without my trusty calculator...(I always had the Cadilliac in the company, because they understood my shortcomings in the mathematical arena)

Which brings me back on point.

I was always SO damn frustrated at math seeming to elude me. I knew I wasn't stupid, so what was the big deal?saw I was excelling everywhere else, but math.

Then, I had a college math professor, who looked at my grades, saw I was excelling everywhere else, but math.

I failed her final.

But, she didn't want to give me an F.

She gave me a D, but I didn't deserve it.

What brings this to mind, is a stupid episode of the Andy Griffith show, where his son is failing in math.

Just remember...just because your kid is bad in one thing, doesn't me he/she can't be 10 times greater in another.

That's all.

Religious zealotry isn't fully compatible with religion. If you believe that your preferred policies aren't merely your opinions on the sort of rules that would lead to a happier, more prosperous society, but are instead GOD'S LAW, then you are not going to be able to do things like debate the pros and cons of policy matters or compromise with those who disagree with you. You are going to feel justified in outright crushing your opponents, by any means necessary, to bring about GOD'S LAW.

I feel like, for a democracy to work, a certain amount of secularization in society has to take place. Religion doesn't have to be wiped out, but its status in society has to be downgraded and diminished; it has to be de-prioritized and compartmentalized. Religion has to be a part of people's lives, but not their entire identity, taken literally, without an iota of skepticism.

America's Christian zealots absolutely do not want democracy, and would prefer rule by a king, or a council of clerics. And they dislike democracy more and more with each passing day, as the country becomes less and less Christian and therefore their goals become more and more unattainable by democratic means.

Religion in general is a problem. I would say Islam is worse than Christianity because Muslims tend to be more violent and fanatical than your typical bland Christian. Of course, it's "racist" and "bigoted" to say that about Islam and Muslims, but that's the world we live in now. You get crucified for speaking truthfully and intelligently. Another example would be that African-Americans and other minorities put too much emphasis on trivial racial issues. Nice to see this blog is at least taking on Trump and his supporters instead of wallowing in tired victim mentality and whining about "cultural appropriation."

I took all of the math I could when I was in school, hated it for the most part, and used very little of it in my real life.
One exception was proportions, which I sort of inherently understood and found useful in machining, fabricating, and electronics design.
Geometry did force me to think for myself, and that was probably good, but the only algebra I ever used in real life was the basic stuff I learned in ninth grade.
Music is math, to a certain extent, and you need to understand what the twelfth root of two is to understand the even tempered scale, but the only time that's been useful to me was in laying out a fretboard for a guitar I helped a woodworker friend build from scratch, not in the actual playing (other than providing an understanding of why guitars are never perfectly in tune themselves and you have to learn to bend notes to pitch).
I know people who took to math the way I took to music or motorcycles, and have tried to get me enthused about it, but it sort of didn't work. I admire them for their abilities, but don't have the kind of ambition to get it myself.
Perhaps if I did something every day the required its use, I'd want to know it enough to master it, but really, I just don't.

I wouldn’t be too worried about that. Ryan’s already been part of a losing presidential ticket (there’s only ever been one losing VP candidate who later went on to become president: FDR), and he is out of step with the new overtly racist knuckle-dragger vibe of the GOP. Not that Ryan hasn’t made his own past comments about the alleged laziness and dysfunction of the “urban man,” but to get nominated for president now, it appears you need to go full Nazi.

Ryan will cash in on his previous favors to the aristocrat class by landing a job at some investment bank or something. He’s retiring to spend more time with his money. He won’t likely be making a political comeback.

Truly, America is a patch of dirt and people; those born here, and people from all over the world who have gathered here to live in a great experiment in democracy.

Deconstructing this bit of treasonous rhetoric and adding context:

"a patch of dirt and people" who matter if they're Native American (genocide!) or part of the sacred hordes of Those Who Must Be Uplifted (Africans, mostly) but not if they're white.

"those born here"

Who are the ONLY ones covered by the preamble of the Constitution which states "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity".  The rest of the world can have it too... if they're willing to fight and bleed for it the way the Americans did.  If America is an idea, let them plant it in their own yards and raise it up tall.  NOBODY needs to be here to do that.

"people from all over the world who have gathered here to live in a great experiment in democracy."

People flooding in for a piece of prosperity without any clue as to what it took to create or maintain—indeed, most without any ABILITY to create or even maintain it, especially the social and political freedoms it takes to create the large and prosperous middle class they want to join—and which they hollow out, impoversh and immiserate through depression of incomes and political and territorial dispossession as they, rat-like, eat through the carefully-built social and political capital of centuries.

America is not a country for white supremacy or totalitarianism.

The left imports millions of dumb, dark voters each year to cement one-party rule by the left.  The left is the party of speech codes, anti-racism, anti-discrimination in ALL things (bake that cake, bigot! that bearded thing in a dress has a RIGHT to use the stall next to your pretty 5-yr-old daughter! and soon enough, sex with children is fine!), forced integration, anti-white indoctrination that would make Stalin blush... creeping totalitarianism.

We do not need a king or a strong-man that rules by fiat. We govern ourselves.

You won't LET anyone you disagree with govern themselves; you won't even let them have a voice in the media and are importing a new people to shut them out at the polls.  America is coming apart, and YOUR hatred of the people you call "deplorables" is why.  The problem is that YOU cannot and will not leave anyone else alone.  That is why civil war is here.  It is currently a cold war but will go hot soon enough.
