A lot of times when someone puts the effort and attention into being really good at something (say, music or neurosurgery) and it takes a monumental amount of them, that effort and attention has to be "borrowed" from other areas of their life that people who don't need to do such effort and attention use to make themselves into normally competent human beings.
I've known people like that, who were brilliant musicians, but couldn't handle basic living functions like paying their bills on time or keeping their driver's license valid.

I can assure you they are not. I have four white grandsons, and none of them are racists. They all had a black step-grandfather whom they loved very much, so that might help to explain it.
