"Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran". The retrurn of the Neocons.

While we take some time to enjoy this summer's Olympics, I hope that we are also paying attention to the candidates running for president of these divided states of America as well. One in particular has been letting loose with some troubling rhetoric and pronouncements of late.

Mitt Romney, while standing on foreign soil, has declared that if he becomes president he will take this country to war with Iran to stop them from furthering their nuclear capabilities. Take some time to think about that for a minute. This is after one of his aides declared that Mr. Romney would back an Israeli military strike on Iran to thwart their nuclear enrichment program. Of course the very right wing Prime Minister of Israel agrees with him.

"Earlier, Netanyahu welcomed Romney as 'a representative of the United States' and told the Republican that he agrees with his approach to the Iranian nuclear threat.
"'Mitt, I couldn't agree with you more,' Netanyahu said.
'We have to be honest and say that all the sanctions and diplomacy so far have not set back the Iranian program by one iota. And that's why I believe that we need a strong and credible military threat coupled with the sanctions to have a chance to change that situation,' Netanyahu said."

Mr. Netanyahu spent a lot of time around these parts (Graduated from Cheltenham High) and I have heard from some folks that are familiar with Benjamin that he had some issues even back then. First of all Benjamin, Mitt is not a "representative of the United States", he is simply a wealthy private citizen trying to become our president. But I digress.
The problem with Chickenhawks like Mitt Romney is that they have no idea how dangerous this type of rhetoric can be to the stability of the world, and particularly in the Middle East. Mitt said he wouldn't campaign on foreign soil, but this all about getting Jewish votes in the upcoming election and showing a contrast in his foreign policy style with Obama. By saying that an "Iran strike is on the table" if he becomes president, he is trying to show us that Obama has been president for almost four years and hasn't struck Iran as yet. What is he waiting for?
Well Mitt, he is waiting for the diplomatic type solutions such as economic sanctions to work, and from all appearances -with all due respect to Mr. Netanyahu and the Neocons in this country- it appears that they have been working.
What is sad about all of this is that Mitt could ultimately become our president, and, if he does, we might wish for the days of W. I am not going to rip his personality like my man Brooklyn Bad Boy over at Kos, but everything about Mitt Romney should bother you. (We could start with the fact that that Dan Senor is his foreign policy point person.) And it should really bother you if you have a male loved one who would be deemed eligible to go to war for this country.

How "evil" will they be?

I guess you all know by now that three hikers have gone missing in a part of the "axis of evil", also known as Iran. My first reaction to this story was: why would a bunch of hikers want to go backpacking in Northern Iraq and on the border with Iran in the first place? But then, I realized, that they could be young white people. And you know how you all are. I swear you all go looking for shit. Honestly, I don't know the race of those poor hikers, but I am going to bet you here and now that they ain't black. Hell no! Black folks don't go looking for adventure by hiking in groves of pistachio trees in the most dangerous place on earth. Just being black in A-merry-ca is adventure enough. (Ask Skip :)) So that kind of "be all you can be" shit just doesn't happen. Going on a ski trip (where 90% of us don't even go near a lift) or on a big ass roller coaster at "Great Adventure " is as wild as it gets for us.

But I don't want to make light of this. This is serious business and we have been down this road before. Besides, that damn Ahmadinejad could try to turn his O ness into Jimmy Carter by playing this for all it's worth. For them (the Iranians) this could be a major coup. This is just the kind of distraction they need after all the internal turmoil in their own country.

They will declare that these A-merry-cans were spies and that they are holding them for their own national security. Meanwhile, the US military is going all out to try and find these missing hikers....wait, did I just write missing? Can we stop saying that? "Missing Americans"? Missing is when you are lost in the woods or some shit. Missing is when no one knows where you are. We know exactly where our friends with the National Geographic jones are. They are in Iran.

Hell they communicated with their friend and said they were surrounded by a bunch of Iranians for crying out loud. So I wouldn't exactly say they are missing. Although, being held somewhere near Ahmed Awaa, ain't like being held in Tijuana if you get my drift.

Anyway, here is hoping that this ends well for those poor kids and that they will find themselves safely home without World War III breaking out. We need that kind of resolution for their families and for A-merry-ca. My pronouncement might seem premature, but lord knows we don't need another Ronald Reagan emerging out of this.

Cheap wingnut tricks.

Have you all been paying attention to the latest political debate over the showdown in Iran? If you haven't, you have been missing some of the best examples of political hypocrisy since Newt and his boyz impeached Bubba.

Here we have the neocons and some (I say some because not all the folks on the right have lost their minds) of their cronies from the right, imploring his O ness to more openly embrace the people of Iran and show them that the A-merry-can people are behind them.

These clowns have been channeling their inner Reagan and they have been making fools of themselves while doing it. I mean let's ask ourselves; what is it, exactly, that they would want Obama to say to these folks? How could he possibly make the situation on the ground there better by stating the obvious? Do these idiots realize that having a sitting A-merry-can president praise the protesters is exactly the type of fuel the Mullahs want for their fire of hatred for the west? Here is a news flash for you clueless neocons: There is nothing republic about the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Mullahs and the Supreme Leader, Ali Hoseini Khameini, have the final say so in their state of affairs, so whether it's Mousavi or Ahmadinejad, it doesn't really matter. It is, after all, a Theocracy. So please folks, don't expect to be partying in downtown Tehran to Kanye West tunes anytime soon. The fact that the Mullahs have come out for Ahmadinejad kind of gives you an idea of where their heads are. If his O ness seems like he is meddling they will only use it as an excuse to bash the "great Satan" to the Iranian people and change the subject from the real issues. The Mullahs are good at this type of stuff, apparently they trick their own people all the time."They tricked us into this whole thing. They got us out in droves, only to fool us and credit themselves...I even got five of my family members who had not voted since the revolution to come out and vote. Shame on me!" I shouldn't have had to explain that. But then again, we are talking about wingnuts, here.

Still, these neoclowns will hear none of it. They want a Reaganesque quote: "General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” Nothing else will do. Supreme Leader Khameini, drop those tear gas canisters. Give me a break! Hey, don't get me wrong, I feel for people like Neda Soltan, but whatever Obama said or didn't say was not going to affect her fate one way or the other.

And finally, here is a little bit of irony to consider: Neda might not even have been alive to protest if the neocons had their way. The very same neocons who are now screaming for us to stand behind the Iranian people would have bombed them into oblivion if they had their way under the frat boy. In fact, for awhile FOX was pushing it so hard, that I started to wonder if they didn't already plan a reality series around it. The Bombing of Tehran, see how ordinary Iranians cope with American might. Let me stop. But you get the idea. These people are sick.

Let's not forget folks. The people protesting for their freedom in Iran, are, for the most part, brave and courageous. The people in this country who are using their protest to score political points, are slimy cowards.

Timing is everything.

Why is it that whenever the frat boy needs money from congress to fund his war there is a new Osama video? Think about it: In his last video Osama's beard was dyed black and it had a perfect trim. Hell, he couldn't have gotten a cut like that from the best barber here in Philly. Doctored photo anyone?

I bet the frat boy has an entire library of Osama tapes just waiting to unload on A-merry-ca.

I can't wait to see the new al Qaeda movie right before they decide to bomb the shit out of Iran. It will be the scariest yet. Watch for the mushroom cloud special effects; that's a Bush administration favorite.

But I gotta give it to the frat boy, it's a great strategy. Scare the shit out of the constituents, who in turn will call their congressmen. Go to said congressmen for funds, and if they refuse to give it to you, their scared shit less constituents will vote them out.

If these clowns only knew how to run a country as well as they know how to hold on to power we would be in pretty good shape. Poor D-im-ocrats; they are out gunned. Even with the frat boy's approval ratings as low as a black conservatives IQ, they (the Dims) are still afraid of him.

Right about now the Harry and Nancy show ain't looking so good. But man that Osama show sure looks like a hit.

Dog Day Afternoon.

In between doing some house and legal work today, I tried to watch a little television. It was a very bad decision for me, because it totally fucked up my day and my mood.

Forget the fact that my "Iggles" lost to the stinking Bears when they were leading by four points with less than two minutes to go, and the Bears went the length of the field to score the winning touchdown without so much as a time out. Forget the fact that FOX NOISE and some of these other silly ass television stations were featuring stories on Iggy the dog, instead of focusing on real issues. FOX NOISE dedicated an entire segment complete with two (yes two) lawyers to talk about this fucking dog.

All this was happening while the Vice President of the United States was talking about going to war with Iran. "Iran is a growing obstacle to peace in the Middle East." If you don't think that means that we want to bomb the living daylights out of them, well then you belong in a little dog house with Iggy. Oh, did I mention that our wonderful Congress (our girl Hilary included) voted to declare their (Iran's) "Revolutionary Guards a terror organization? Think about that for a minute. That's like China's government voting to declare the FBI a terrorist organization. That will just make it easy for us to bomb them into oblivion when we so please, and justify it by referring to the fact that we declared them a terrorist state.

Then, to top it off, I watched some of the republican debate (can these mother fuckers talk about Hilary enough?) and......well, let me say this; if any of those suits I saw tonight win the presidency, we will be in for some serious trouble. RUDY? MITT? FRED? Maalox please!

Honestly, there are days when I wish I was Amish.
