Isn't race relations wonderful when you plan it right? It was happy hour at the White House. Just a bunch of guys shooting the breeze and working out their differences: "So Jim, are you a saaax fan? Yes Mr. President, I am. Well you guys better do something with Dice-K or you are going to be in trouble. Well I am a Phillies fan myself. We don't have a team in Delaware. I know Joe, I was talking to Jim. Do you like baseball Skip? Is that the one where they score touchdowns? .....Let me stop and leave Skip alone. But he pissed me off when he dissed my Red Stripe and went with some A-merry-can brew. He knows damn good and well that he prefers Red Stripe. How can he have an honest discussion about race when he isn't even honest about the damn beer he drinks?
Now you guys are going to say that this is just the old cynical field being field. But what, exactly, was that on the White House back lawn this evening? Am I the only one saw the the whole thing as some surreal manifestation of the superficial nature of race relations in A-merry-ca? The staging, the forced camaraderie, and --I am sure--- the perfunctory nature of the discussion. Isn't that how we interact with each other on a daily basis? It was perfect.
Politically it might work for his O ness. Most A-merry-cans in the majority population are quite comfortable with racial lip service. They shy away from uncomfortable truths and hope they never have to encounter it in their lifetime like officer Jim had to. They are fine with a co-worker, an acquaintance, the mailman, or a child's teacher, for instance; but real engagement and meaningful social interaction is a no no.
Black folks are in their cocoons (no pun intended) as well. Many live in segregated urban sectors and never have meaningful inter action with people in the majority population. Oh there are the cops, the school teachers, and the occasional civil servant. But none of them have a white person that they can call a friend. Someone that they can tell how frustrated they really feel living in A-merry-ca with the ugly stain of racism, and not having to let some race expert (Rev. Inc.) do it for them.

Why you mention the race card in response to what I wrote, I don't know... I never said anything about any kind of card. But I fully agree with your "reality card" idea. That was my whole point. But there's a difference between reality and hyperbole. A lot of folks on this blog need to learn the distinction. As for the denial card - Once again you're right. As for why I started my post with the preface "I'm a white guy"... Heck, that's a great example of an over-the-top, not even mildly believeable post that isn't even close to conforming to reality (as you and I both advocate for). I know a shit ton of white people and none of them gives two tiddlywinks that Sotomayor is Hispanic. They may or may not like her political leanings, but haven't heard a single peep about her ethinicity. Real talk, as they say...

His political truth aligns with the period in Eastern Spirituality called the Kaliyuga. It's the last period that the world is in where there is very little truth, morality, ethics and virtue; and no one is concerned with what's right or wrong.

I agree that there have been quite a few bright men who became President but very few rose to greatness. If You don't believe me check the history of Presidents and this nation.
That's why I capitalized the word "PROVE", especially for YOU. I also capitalized "ONE" especially for YOU. In context, in order for Obama to become "ONE" greatest Presidents in American history, he has to "PROVE" it. But this "agent of the Gods" can do more than just communicate. It can force thoughts into people's heads, force behaviors onto their bodies. It can turn healthy cells in your body into cancerous cells. It is absolute power. And this is just the beginning.
The Gods favor the children most among all the people due to their innocence and purity. But society and the God's tools therein corrupt the children at a progressively younger age, yet another clue illustrating we live in a constantly deteriorating environment.
Children who fix their problems with the Gods accend into heaven. Adults enter clone hosting. The gods sell them as one in the same, but one is good while the other is evil.
And their corruption will cost the disfavored, for they will be reincarnated as a lesser life form into an ever deteriorating world, sucess becoming ever more alluding with each passing life.
The hole they've dug for themselves is even deeper than the one that existed from their prior lives, ensuring it will take even more time and work to fix their problems with the Gods. And for many of us there may not be enough time left.
Ours is an envionment where evil is perceived to be rewarded while good is punished. As with everything the Gods have a reason for creating this perception::::
People who fall on the good side of the good/evil scale have more favor, and when they do something wrong the Gods punish them BECAUSE THEY WANT THEM TO LEARN. The Gods want them to receive this feedback in hope they make corrections and begin to behave appropriately. The Gods DON'T like evil and refuse to grant this feedback.
EVERYBODY pays for what they do wrong, only evil people must wait until their next life before they will experience the wrath of the Gods, manifested in their placement as a lower form of life into environments with increased/enhanced temptations.
Sadly, this allows the Gods to position this perception of evil rewarded as temptation, one which they use as an EXTREMELY effective corruptor.
The Gods send the clue that the Jews are HIGHLY corruptable with the movie "The Ten Commandments".
Jesus was the "King of the Jews". Typical for the disfavored, once goals were achieved and sufficient damage was incurred the Gods allowed it to end, and the Jews killed him.
But the unvarnished truth rarely goes over well in America. One must use political truth, as Obama soon learned.
The problem with Obama's statement wasn't so much the bluntness (although it was at odds with his "cool" persona) but more his timing. Recall that when he said it, a lot of facts hadn't come out. Obama said as much at the press conference. If he had referred to the Cambridge police's handling of the matter as "questionable" rather than "stupid," there'd have never been a shitstorm.
Well, some of the wingnuts would have tried to make it a shitstorm. Hell, they'll do that over anything. But it wouldn't have been an overall media shitstorm if Obama hadn't used the "stupidly" word when he did.
And yeah, truth is political, at least when it's coming from politicians. Always has been, always will be. People are constantly complaining that the politicos "lie," but I laugh at that complaint. It's truly a joke, and I don't care what color the politician is.
Really, who does anyone on earth think they are kidding? We demand that our politicians lie to us. We judge them on how well they do it. The reason we want them to lie is largely so we can lie to ourselves later on, when we adopt a phony stance of innocence and self-righteously claim that we were "lied to" when we not only never believed the "lie" in the first place, but in fact demanded that it be told.
This sort of game gets played from every point on the political spectrum. It would be really refreshing if people would grow up, but then it would take a lot of the sport out of the whole thing, wouldn't it?

This is exactly what happened when Bush invaded Iraq. He was pushing for a war without waiting for an investigative team to determine if Sadam had WMD. Bush's reasons were always suspect and fishy to me. And I bet a lot of Americans felt the same way. But hardly anyone spoke out against it, except Obama. Later on, we acted oooh! sooo! surprised that he lied to us. Of course he did. I believe the best kept secret in America is that most knew he was lying before we went to war and said nothing.

I agree. We are a nation of adult children who refuse to grow up. Actually, I don't think we really know what it is to be an adult. We like high drama and excitement that jarrs us and keeps us off balance. To actually become an adult would mean we would become balanced individuals who preferred actual truth, peace and equanimity. Who the hell wants that? Kids don't....It's too boring!
FYI, I am not White-and I really don't give a damn what color you are. An insult is an insult...no matter what the color of one's skin is. If you insult me again, even though I have said or done NOTHING to you, YOU are going to have a hard time with me on this blog.
