Bad people.

*
I love my cousins, I really do. But there are times when I have to wonder about some of you. I might not be one to talk, but some of you all need religion.

Why? Because some of you people have a serious problem with your value system.

(I had a defendant in a child support case once, who bitched about a $300 per month child support payment but he had a $500 per month car note. Go figure.)

Which leads me to the following story which recently took place in my fair city:

"Philadelphia police were hunting for a couple who grabbed over $100,000 worth of jewelry from a South Street store. They slashed a store clerk, then left behind a young child during their getaway. Authorities say the man and woman with a four-year-old child ..... were shopping for rings at "Platinum and Ice," on the 600 block of South Street, around 3pm Saturday.

But police say when the clerk turned his back, the couple grabbed a jewelry tray and ran out of the store. The store owner gave chase, but the suspect pulled a knife and slashed him across his face and neck. South Detectives captain Laurence Nodiff:"(They) robbed the store, then fled, dragging the child by the hand for 2½ blocks, then lacerated the store owner's facial-neck area, and then abandoned the child on the 700 block of Rodman Street.

"The boy is in the care of DHS. The store owner needed 12 stitches." (Story)

Who goes and robs a store and takes a four year old child? That crap is psycho beyond words. You grab the $100,000.00 worth of bling and leave your child behind?

Oh Lawd, I can't take it. And we wonder why some of our children grow up the way that they do. (White folks, don't laugh, you have issues with this kind of shit as well. )

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am guessing that a child should be number one in the pecking order of things that we value. People selling their kids and taking them on robbing sprees and leaving them behind, is about as low as it gets on the depravity scale for me.

I am starting to think that the folks who want mandatory parenting classes for certain people who have kids might be on to something. I bet the kids would welcome it.

And finally, a quick note: Most of you know that I am not one to surround myself with obsequious people. In fact, I love it when you come at me with your criticisms and opposing views. But to all of you grammarians out there please stop it already. Enough with the e-mails about what word belongs where. I really don't give a f&*k. I know that my solecisms are numerous, but this is a BLOG! I am not a teacher, a journalist, or a librarian. If you want to read grammatically correct shit, pick up your local paper or find one of those snobbish web sites in your browser where the rest of you grammar snobs meet, because* you won't find any of that here. Thank you.

Friends should not let friends cry rape.

*

What the hell is the world coming to when you can't even trust Girl Scout cookies anymore? I swear the Apocalypse is upon us.

Anyway, tonight I want to talk about every man's nightmare. (At least one of them)

Gentlemen, imagine for a minute that you are out bar hopping with your boys, and you meet a honey who is willing and able to (maybe) get her freak on with you. She leaves her girls to go and hang out with you, but her girls get pissed because she broke off from the posse. Rather than fessing up and telling her girls that she thought you were cute and she wanted to hang with you, she invents a lie that you raped her.

You are tried and convicted, and you serve four years hard time in jail.

Such was the fate of one William McCaffrey. Thankfully, the poor guy, thanks to DNA testing , is finally receiving justice.

So what should happen to his accuser? Well fortunately you won't have to wait to find out:

Calling it one of the "worst things that can happen in our criminal justice system"; Judge Charles Solomon sentenced the woman who cried rape to 1-3 years in prison for perjury.

My only problem with what the good judge did is that he should have given her four years without the possibility of parole. She should have served equal time to what the poor man she accused of raping her had to serve.

If the Judge really wanted to live up to his name [Solomon] that would have been the sentence.

Still, 1-3 is better than nothing. Hopefully Mrs. Peguero-Gonzalez will take the time to reflect-while cooling her heels in prison- on how she ruined someone else's life.

That ain't "Flipper".

I was really torn about what to blog about tonight. I didn't know if I should blog about you black folks getting upset because a white sorority won a step show. (And, from what I could see, they deserved it.) Why? If they out stepped your asses they deserved to win. (h/t to Hawa) Then, of course, there is all the political theater going on up in Zoo Yawk. (Mr. Rangel, blaming your ethics problems on your staff is house Negro behavior) Not to mention down in D.C., where a certain secretary is heading out the door. (I guess girlfriend never recovered from the gate crashers fiasco.) Still, I decided that tonight I don't want to blog about any of that. Nope, tonight I want to blog about animals.

Now you all know how I feel about some of you people and your pets. I have some serious issues with how some of us humans choose to exercise our position of power in the pecking order when it comes to living things here on earth.

I am cool with eating animals, and using them for our benefit. Hey, we are smarter than they are (some of us) so they are just SOL when it comes to certain things. Certain things. Because there are times when they do their best to upset the order of things. Like the recent chimp attack that took place in Stamford, Ct. (Why someone would have a pet chimp is beyond me.) And, of course, the latest incident down in Sea World comes to mind. I mean here we have a killer whale being trained for our entertainment, and the big fella just saying enough and treating his trainer like...well.. his meal.

Folks, this is a big deal, and the folks down at Sea World have been taking some heat for the way that they treat their animals. I mean even the whale is talking.

One thing we do know is that Sea World won't stop training their whales for our entertainment, because there is just too much at stake: A brand; money; jobs. Hell the killer whale won't even do any time for his actions. He is still with Sea World, and will probably be coming to a pool near you for more shows very soon.

"SeaWorld Orlando also said it intends to continue using in its performances Tilikum, the 6-ton orca that pulled veteran trainer Dawn Brancheau to her death on Wednesday, though the animal will not be used Saturday."He's been a part of our team and he will remain a part of our team," SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment President Jim Atchison told reporters during an afternoon news conference at the Orlando theme park"

Yep, Tilikum will be coming back, but Dawn will not. Tilikum made sure of that.

Seeing red.

Tonight I am not going to blog about the "Health Care Summit", because Stevie Wonder could see that there was not going to be a deal. Just more of the same from the rethugs: Block. Block. Block. I wish the Eagles offensive line could block like these guys. If they could we would have five Super Bowls by now. Today was just more political theater from the clowns in Washington. A chance t0 give their speeches and to show their base that they could stand up to the big bad beige man. (BTW, I loved how his O ness read Mr. Morton and that dude from Virginia, -Eric Cantor- a new one) Nice try O man, I see where you are going politically-you want to show the rest of A-merry-ca that you are willing to compromise- but enough of this already;time to start working on your own damn party to get something (anything) passed. Health care, or the lack of it, is a real problem in this country.

But enough about politricksters in Washington. Tonight a couple of stories have me seeing red. One of them literally, and the other figuratively.

Let me talk about the literal one first: It's Hannah Storm's boots, and how a popular ESPN host has been told to sit down for two weeks without pay for talking about them. This is a touchy subject, because it involves the sexes and how we treat each other in the work place. Tony Kornheiser was forced to apologize for saying the following about his colleague over at ESPN:

"Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today,” Kornheiser said on his Washington, D.C., radio show last week. “She’s got on red go-go boots and a Catholic school plaid skirt way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now. She’s got on her typically very, very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body. I know she’s very good, and I’m not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won’t. But Hannah Storm, come on now. Stop. What are you doing? She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.”

My first thoughts, when I heard this story, was who gives Tony Kornheiser the right to talk about anybody else's looks? (Have you seen the guy?) But then, I thought, well it's his radio show, and he is paid to be irreverent and brash. Hell ESPN even pays him to be that way, so why suspend the guy for speaking his mind? Besides, as others have said; ESPN has made a living on this kind of talk about other people, so why do this now when one of their own feels the heat?

Anyway, for puroses of discussion; does he have a point? Did Ms. Storm go over the top with her red boots? And if she was a man, would we be having this discussion? Hey, I have seen some serious sartorial faux pas by some of the male hosts over at ESPN and I don't think that any of their female co-hosts would rip them. And, for the record, I think Whitlock's criticism of Storm was over the top, his fat ass shouldn't be talking about someone else's outfit. Period.

"Hurtful and personal comments such as these are not acceptable and have significant consequences," said John Skipper, ESPN's vice president for content. "Tony has been suspended from PTI for two weeks. Hannah is a respected colleague who has been an integral part of the success of our morning SportsCenter."

Kornheiser said he had called Storm to personally apologize for the remarks."If you put a live microphone in front of somebody, eventually that person will say something wrong," Kornheiser said on his show Tuesday. "This was one of the times I said something wrong."

Hopefully this will be the end of Bootgate.

The next story has me figuratively seeing red. And, once again, it involves the now infamous Lower Merion school district.

I thought that busing was a thing of the past here in A-merry-ca? Apparently, thanks to a local federal judge opening up some records, we are learning that it is not. The folks of the Lower Merion school district allegedly bused some African American students to a high school far away from their homes to create a racial balance in their district, and now the families of the children are suing. Apparently there was enough of the them at Lower Merion High (which is close to the only area on the main line with pockets of black folks) and not enough at Harriton High. So, as a result, Lower Merion- allegedly- decided to do a little racial balancing act.

Well, the plaintiffs have won their right to go forward with their trial. And the beautiful system of laws that we have here in A-merry-ca will ultimately determine the outcome of this case.

"Said Douglas Young, spokesman for the school district: "We respect the court’s decision, and remain optimistic that our position will ultimately prevail in this important litigation. ... We have argued and intend to show at trial that no such proof [of racial discrimination] exists or is possible to demonstrate. The district developed its redistricting plan for one purpose: to equalize enrollments at two newly constructed high schools."

We will see Mr. Young; we will see.

"Break Up To Make Up"

Black folks can we talk? If we are going to really change our communities from the ground up, do we really need a bunch of self appointed clowns jockeying for the position of HNIC? Because honestly, that is exactly what has been happening lately in the civil rights industry.

You have Tavis fighting with Rev. Al, the NAACP, and the Urban League. And you have Rev. Al fighting with Tavis. And, once again, it's about them, and not the larger struggle that they are supposed to be a part of.

But I blame his O ness for all of this. If he hadn't went and became president of these divided states, some of these clowns would have actually still been running around d thinking that they have some juice, and that they are still relevant in black America. They are not. The only people that they are relevant to are young white cable news producers who give them shine so that they can tell the rest of A-merry-ca how black folks think. They can't. Black folks are not monolithic thinkers, (just read the comments on this blog) and we sure as hell don't need a bunch of self appointed leaders of the Negroes in A-merry-ca telling us how to solve our problems.

If you live in Camden or Detroit, your problems are local: Poor schools, crime, jobs, reentry programs, affordable health care, and so on. So you really don't need a bunch of national talking heads who are paid handsomely to be professional poverty pimps, pontificating about us and our problems. And we sure as hell don't need to be a part of their clash of egos because someone was dissed or offended by the others words. The tragedy is that they are on national radio programs doing this bullshit, and we have to be dragged into the middle of it.

" James Taylor, a political science professor at the University of San Francisco, calls the current debate an example of black political elite fighting for better positions for themselves.

'“This really isn’t about representing the concerns of everyday black people,' Taylor told BlackAmericaweb.com. ''You have black millionaires coordinating a program that is economically driven and not protest driven.

'While blacks, like others in America, want to see more people back to work, most don’t look to activists for the real solutions, Taylor said.'They look past Smiley and Sharpton. They look to President Obama for policy that will eradicate the poverty of blacks,' Taylor said."

Amen Mr. Taylor! And BTW, I loved "Fire & Rain".

But seriously, if others can see it, why can't they? Are they they so caught up with their own egos and self delusiuon that the can't see the forrest for the wingtips? I mean really, was this really necessary? (Tavis, I guess Rev. Al kept it real at your expense. That will teach you to get all jealous [no pun intended Mr. NAACP leader] just because his O ness didn't invite you to the White House. And Rev. Al. if we are going to keep it really real "fo" real; how about a little less of the Super Bowl festivities and more of the people's work? Folks, I got my peeps all over A-merry-ca. )

"Syracuse University professor Boyce Watkins said the debate between Sharpton and Smiley is one that can probably be heard at dinner tables across America."

I love you Dr. Watkins, but you are wrong. The only thing that is being said at black dinner tables "across America" is how did the job interview go? And, pass the salt.

When wingnut obsessions go wrong.

"I'm never gonna dance again Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you"

When George Michael wrote that song I bet he never had wingnuts in mind. Because I guarantee you that the wingnut will dance all night long and not notice that his partner has no rhythm. Why? Because they are fools for a good story, that's why. Especially when it involves taking down those evil progressives.

Remember when I blogged about that fraud Andrew Breitbart ,and his side-kick, the fake pimp, James O'Keefe? Well now it seems that those two scumbags have been totally discredited. The "Chester The Molester" looking Matt Drudge and the clowns over at Radio Rwanda must be just hoping that everyone will do like the rest of the main stream media and say nothing. But fortunately we have blogs in A-merry-ca (shout out to The Brad Blog) to always keep us informed.

" You folks do realize that James O'Keefe never actually wore his ridiculous pimp costume into those ACORN offices on those doctored and illegally recorded video tapes, right? But, rather, he was filmed outside of the offices wearing his get-up, while appearing as the conservatively dressed boyfriend of a hooker trying to escape an abusive pimp when the cameras were rolling inside the offices. That's just one of many deceptions O'Keefe carried out.
As one of two independent investigations of the incidents which
clear ACORN of wrong-doing noted, this one by former MA Attorney General Scott Harshbarger [PDF]"

Is this the same Andrew Breitbart who promised, with the help of his friend Glen Beck, to being down the Obama administration? Hey Andrew, how is that working out for you? And
what exactly is Beck, Drudge, and company saying about this? *crickets*

Not to worry folks, the wingnuts still love Andrew, so the dance continues.

Since Crazy Andy Breitbart, who released the phony video tapes on his propaganda website, didn't bother to man up and point that out before, during, or after posting them, or while appearing on Fox "News" and elswhere to promote both them and himself, or even after the reports came out, you may not have realized that salient fact.
You may also not have known that while both independent reports, the
other one by the Congressional Research Service [PDF], found no criminal wrong doing by ACORN, they did find that O'Keefe likely the broke the law in at least two states by secretly recording the videos which had voice-overs deceptively edited into them later, "in some cases substantially," according to Harshbarger's report, so that it was "difficult to determine the questions to which ACORN employees are responding."

In other words, the videos were a scam perpetrated by both Breitbart and his employee O'Keefe, who now faces felony charges that Breitbart has been tweeting his adorable angry little heart out over the last few days trying desperately to downplay. Who can blame him? Nothing less than whatever little credibility he ever had is on the line after all. No doubt P.T. Barnum faced similar circumstances as he plied his trade to the suckers born every minute."

Yes, suckers and dance partners.

And now for the second installment of wingnuts obsession gone wrong:

Seems that the conservatives are not too pleased with a certain beige man putting his foot on the people's desk in the White House.

This is how Wonkette described it:

"Can you believe this guy? Our queen gave us this holy desk back when his people were still slaves or whatever, and now he’s putting his feet on it?

Oh, the wingnuts. How crazy they make themselves, every day, all because it’s no longer acceptable — even on Fox News or talk radio — to say the “N word.”
This is the rest of the forwarded email making the anger-bear trailer-park rounds today:Read more at Wonkette:
http://wonkette.com/413753/black-man-puts-his-feet-on-desk#ixzz0gPjSSL8p"

But then, the pic of George Bush doing the very same thing is priceless.

I know I know wingnut, George Bush is.....ahh...ahhm....older. Yeah, that's the ticket, he is older.

Thank you Carlos and Buster for those stories.

I Spy.

Here in our neck of the woods there is a story creating quite a buzz, not only locally but from what I can tell; nationally as well. You might or might not have heard about it by now.

Lower Merion is a school district just outside of Philly. Lower Merion High School is where Kobe Bryant (He of the LA Lakers) played ball, and it is, for all intents and purposes, a somewhat affluent part of our great state. They are so affluent, in fact, that they could afford to outfit everyone of their students with a brand new computer. And not just any computer; the fancy kind with built in cameras and the whole nine.

Well, it seems that the authorities from The Lower Merion School District might have been doing a little spying on their students with these cameras, and suburban parents being suburban parents, have literally made a federal case out of it. Yep, there is a class action lawsuit making its way through federal court as I type this.

"The suit alleges the remotely controlled covert cameras violate everything from the Fourth Amendment to wiretapping, electronic communications and computer fraud laws.

It was filed Tuesday on behalf of Harriton High student Blake J. Robbins and all Lower Merion students by Robbins' parents Michael and Holly Robbins of Penn Valley.
Named as defendants are the school district, the district's nine-member Board of Directors and Superintendent Christopher W. McGinley.

The Robbins seek unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, as well as an end to the "spying," according to the 17-page complaint.

The family first learned of the embedded webcams on Nov. 11, when Harriton High's Assistant Principal Lindy Matsko reprimanded Blake Robbins for "improper behavior in his home," according to the lawsuit. Matsko cited as evidence a photograph from the webcam on the boy's school-issued laptop."

Oh ohh, "remotely controlled covert cameras" can't be good. If this is true the folks in charge at Lower Merion might be in deep you know what. There are just certain aspects of the Constitution that should not be messed with, and certain lines that should not be crossed. Our right to privacy is one of them. I understand that these are students, and teachers have a certain amount of responsibility when it comes to policing their behavior, but not when they are off school property in the privacy of their own homes. Apparently the Vice Principal let the cat out of the bag by telling Blake Robbins that she saw him popping pills in his room, and that he might be a.....gasp! Drug dealer. (Memo to suburban teacher: you do not want to accuse a suburban kid of being a drug dealer. Mommy and Daddy will sue.)

"Because the webcam can capture anything happening in the room where the laptop is, district personnel could illicitly observe plenty more than a student's online activity, the lawsuit alleges.

"Many of the images captured and intercepted may consist of images of minors and their parents or friends in compromising or embarrassing positions, including, but not limited to, in various stages of dress or undress," the lawsuit charges."

Now you all know me I have to play devil's advocate a little bit: What if the teacher saw Blake making a bomb and writing a note that he was going to blow up the school the next day? Would we object then? And what if everyone got got a lap-top signed a disclaimer saying that the school could use this camera to track their computers because some have been stolen in the past? Would we feel the same way? I am sure that this is one of the arguments that the school's defense team is preparing to make. Wait....

"The school district says it has only utilized the security features to track stolen or missing laptops.

But the Robbinses' attorney, Mark Haltzman, "It's absolutely not true that this was a lost or stolen laptop."

Oh ohh, they might have to go to Plan B. Especially in light of this:

" Meanwhile, the superintendent of schools, Dr. Christopher McGinley did say in a letter to families that "there was no explicit notification that the laptop contained the security software. This notice should have been given and we regret that was not done." [Story]

Oh Lawd! Can you say settlement boyz and girls? I swear the rich always get richer.

Calling "The Drop Squad".

So my racism chasing ways led me to the following story from my local paper:

"My corner of Chester County doesn't make national news too often, but it did on Election Day 2008.

Voters trying to cast ballots in Lower Oxford Township East stood in lines for so long that TV crews showed up to capture the scene. Some of those waiting ordered out for pizza. Sympathetic neighbors brought water and coffee. When the last vote was cast shortly before 11 p.m., polls were officially closing on the West Coast and Barack Obama had already been declared the winner.

Some of the 1,440 who voted there that day waited for seven to eight hours in the rain, queuing up close enough to working railroad tracks to reach out and touch passing freight cars. The tiny community center they waited to enter could accommodate only seven booths and one optical scanner. The adjacent parking lot was big enough for a dozen cars.
This wasn't a mistake. It was deliberate. It was the clearest example you could hope to find of partisan politics trumping common sense and civic duty.

The key detail about this is that the precinct in question includes Lincoln University, the nation's oldest black college, home to roughly 1,600 students. This is the largest bloc of African American voters in any precinct in predominantly white, Republican Chester County. Blacks tend to vote Democratic. Republicans don't mind making it harder for them to cast ballots.

This kind of political chicanery is standard fare, of course, but it assumes an uglier cast when race enters the story. "

I know that we are long past those glorious days in A-merry-ca when hope reigned supreme, but this story still stinks to high heaven. Have these people in the majority population no shame? But wait.....

" The two Republican commissioners responsible, Carol Aichele and Terence Farrell, were clearly motivated by politics, not race (Farrell is black, and his parents both taught at Lincoln), but there is an ugly undercurrent to this whole affair with deeper historical roots." [Story]

Come again Mr. Bowden. One of the commissioners was black? White folks, I apologize. Oh my! Is there no limit to what the house Negro will do for acceptance? "Farrell is black, and his parents both taught at Lincoln"? And yet this slave catcher tried to make it harder for blacks to vote in a historic election? Pinch me, I must be dreaming. Hey it's one thing to support a different political party or ideology than most black folks. That's fine. We can't be monolithic, and that type of intellectual diversity actually benefits us in the long run. But playing sneaky political games to shut out a portion of the electorate who has traditionally been underrepresented, and who happens to belong to a group you yourself belong to, borders on criminal.

Mr. Farrell, the house is too good for you, because as much as I get on the house Negro, if I am going to be honest; there were actually some good slaves in the house. You, Mr. Farrell, belong in the [out]house. More specifically, in the sewer, with the rest of the filth.

Before I go I would like to follow up on a story I recently blogged about. Seems that the guy who got down with Mitt on the plane the other day was none other than Barry Gordy's grandson. (I swear you can't make this stuff up.) And the guy is claiming that Mitt actually assaulted him first. (See his story here) -BTW, is it me, or does it seem like this Sky Blu character is spoofing something?-

Oh well Mitt, I hope this works out for you. But next time, as I told you before, don't fly commercial.

Joe vs. The White House and the "big fat idiot" strikes again.

There is a very interesting political soap opera taking place here in Pennsylvania. Seems that Congressman Joe Sestak, who represents the 7th Congressional district here in Pistolvania, and who is running against Arlen Specter in the dumbocratic primary for the senate, has accused his O ness and company of offering him a high level gig if he will drop out of the race. Not so fast says the White House, we did no such thing.

So who is lying? Somebody clearly is. And Sestak raised the stakes by going on Radio Rwanda and declaring that he was absolutely offered a cushy gig not to run against Specter, and he is not backing down from his declarations.

"In the face of a White House denial, U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak stuck to his story yesterday that the Obama administration offered him a "high-ranking" government post if he would not run against U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania's Democratic primary.

A White House official "vociferously" denied his account yesterday as Sestak insisted on national television that he had told the truth, but declined for a second day to divulge details.
"I was asked a direct question . . . and I answered it honestly," Sestak said in a Fox News interview. "There's nothing more to go into."

Sestak made his startling claim Thursday during the taping of Comcast Network's Larry Kane: Voice of Reason, a public affairs show televised on Sunday evenings.

"Were you ever offered a federal job to get out of this race?" Kane asked near the end of the 30-minute interview.

"Yes," Sestak answered." [Story]

If the White House did offer Sestak a gig it wouldn't be the first time that the executive branch (certainly not this one) played politics in this manner. They are the executive branch, but they still belong to a political party, and they still want to help their candidates get elected. But here is the thing; both men are dumbocrats, and Sestak is closer to the left than Specter- a man who would rather switch than fight his own party in order to survive politically- So if Sestak is telling the truth it's troubling. The flip side is that if he is lying he has committed political suicide.

This should be fun. Again, somebody is lying. I love it when politricksters are exposed for the liars they really are.

Finally tonight, I have to comment on my man Rush. (I know I know, it's like shooting fish in a barrel) When he tried to buy the Rams and people were accusing him of being a racist he and his conservative friends vehemently denied it. And he even had his house Negro friend, Rev. Ken ,on his radio program to defend him. (I wonder if Rush thinks that Rev. Ken talks like a Negro?) Rush and the man sang Kumbaya (not literally) while Rush declared that he doesn't see race. For the record; Rush has constantly maintained on his program that the matter of race never crosses his mind. Well...

Anyway, I am out....Wait, did that sound too Negro? Let me change that: Have a wonderful night everybody.

WOODS and "WOO".

So Tiger finally came out of hibernation today. He had to, I suppose, to make his long awaited apology to the world. And, it seems, that everybody has an opinion about it. Tiger's apology has been the subject of more pontification and second guessing than when the frat boy and his cronies decided to take this country to war. If people in A-merry-ca had been as concerned with the frat boy's war as they seemed to be with Tiger's f&^%$#g apology maybe the damn country wouldn't be in the state it is today. But I digress.

Tiger, on behalf of married men everywhere, I am begging you to stop the madness. Please just get back to golf and never speak of your billionaire on blonds trysts ever again. You are killing us out here. Every time you come and our significant others see your ass it starts a new discussion with the girlfriends about cheating men and what dogs men are. You say you are a sex addict, and that you are being treated for it, but Mrs. Field and her crew ain't buying it. They think it's just an excuse for you to fool around. And, now that you are busted, they say that you are just using it as a last resort to save your marriage and half of your millions. I would love to argue with them and get your back, but I know better. Sorry Tiger, you are on your own with this one.

Finally, on a more serious note; I would like to congratulate everyone who opposed the Bush policies during those glorious eight years for making it out alive. Yep, it seems that the frat boy's lawyers actually gave him the OK to massacre an entire village if he wanted to. Damn, that's putting a whole different twist on Hillary's "It takes a village" meme. It might "take a village to raise a child", but it takes a dumb ass lawyer to make it OK to wipe one out.

"The chief author of the Bush administration's "torture memo" told Justice Department investigators that the president's war-making authority was so broad that he had the constitutional power to order a village to be "massacred," according to a report by released Friday night by the Office of Professional Responsibility. The views of former Justice lawyer John Yoo were deemed to be so extreme and out of step with legal precedents that they prompted the Justice Department's internal watchdog office to conclude last year that he committed "intentional professional misconduct" when he advised the CIA it could proceed with waterboarding and other aggressive interrogation techniques against Al Qaeda suspects.

The report by OPR concludes that Yoo, now a Berkeley law professor, and his boss at the time, Jay Bybee, now a federal judge, should be referred to their state bar associations for possible disciplinary proceedings.

But, as first reported by NEWSWEEK, another senior department lawyer, David Margolis, reviewed the report and last month overruled its findings on the grounds that there was no clear and "unambiguous" standard by which OPR was judging the lawyers. Instead, Margolis, who was the final decision-maker in the inquiry, found that they were guilty of only "poor judgment."

See that folks? "Poor judgement". Giving the legal authority to our president to massacre an entire village because you are a partisan hack only makes you guilty of using "poor judgement."

If John "Woo" held a press conference tomorrow to say that he is sorry, I wonder how many reporters would show up?

I don't like paying my taxes either, but....

This has been quite a news day. Tiger announced that he is breaking his silence tomorrow. And down in Texas, (there is a surprise) some wingnut with a grudge against the IRS, decided to channel his inner 911 terrorist and fly a small plane into their building. Now that's rich. Nothing like a little Cessna to the heart of those evil government people to send a message. The people are fed up with big government and won't take it anymore. Over at Radio Rwanda, the newly elected GOP candidate from Massachusetts was blaming the actions of this nut case on people's disenchantment with their government. Really?

"Violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer," the long note on Stack's Web site reads, citing past problems with the tax-collecting agency. "I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well," the note, dated Thursday, reads."

The above statement was from the pilot's blog. Hmmmm, those words I highlighted look very familiar to me, where I have I heard them before? Oh yeah, from Glen Beck.

Oh field, stop it, Beck was very clear how he felt about the guy:

"Instead, Beck railed against the violent actions of “someone we don’t know very well, yet,” pilot Joseph Stack who allegedly flew his plane into an Austin IRS office building, leaving behind both a manifesto and a suicide note. And he didn’t mince words.

We have no idea what this man’s ideology was…he could be from the left, he hates capitalism, he has an anti-business creed that goes on and on. It sounds like anything you could hear in a speech from Van Jones. When you read his anti-tax ravings and his anti-tax or IRS stuff it sounds like you could be reading bumper stickers off the cars or the signs of the Tea Party. We have no idea. But here’s the point. I have no idea if he’s left or right. Is he a communist or a radical constitutionalist. Here’s the point: it doesn’t matter. The guy is a killer.

Beck went on to compare Stack to Osama bin Laden and Timothy McVeigh and warned against rationalizing any of their actions: “I don’t like the IRS either, but I don’t kill people.” Taken all together it sounded to me like a bit of a shot across the bow to anyone who wants to suggest Stack is representative of a larger disgruntled populous. "

Sure Glen, you don't personally kill people. With your insane rantings every day you just inspire others to do it for you.

And finally, I want to talk about bad relationships. Not Tiger's, but relationships that led to unspeakable tragedies in the last couple of days. The first one was in New Jersey; where a young college student threw his infant child over a bridge because the child's mother would not marry him. Not only did he do that but...well, read the story for yourself:

"Authorities say the girl's father, 21-year-old Shamsiddi Abdur-Raheem of Galloway Township, allegedly forced his way into the grandmother's East Orange apartment around 4 p.m. Tuesday, striking her in the face, choking her, and forcibly taking the baby, wrapped in a blanket and a pink and gray onesie, before fleeing in his vehicle. The 60-year-old grandmother, who police declined to identify, chased after Abdur-Raheem and was struck when she tried to stop him by throwing herself in the path of his van. She was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and released." [Story]

Now you all know how I feel about the death penalty. I don't believe in it. But if this punk goes to prison and his fellow inmates happen to take his life, believe me when I tell you that I won't shed a tear. Not one.

Then there is the tragic story outside of Atlanta: A young athlete, on his way to Vanderbilt University, is killed by some animal who was previously involved with his mother. The good thing about this story is that the animal at least killed himself. The poor kid might have been protecting his mother. Who knows? What I do know is that yet another promising young life is lost because of the selfish and malevolent act of another person.

Honestly, it's times like these that I can understand how some people prefer their pets to people.

Oh, and before I go, quite a few of you want to know how I feel about the incident in Oakland, (What the hell is going on with BART these days?) where the white old head put a beat down on a young buck after asking him to spit- shine his shoes. *shaking head*. I just glanced at the video. But my first impression is this: Memo to young buck: work on your fighting skills before you go f*&%$*g with old heads on the bus. I don't care if he is a racist. In fact, that makes it worse. He is old, racist, and he kicked your ass. Man how do you live with yourself?

I'm out. That's enough news for one day. Good luck tomorrow Tiger. :)

Ain't no party like a Compton party....

Tonight I am in a racism chasing mode, although I really didn't want to be. But this UCSD thing has me, once again, contemplating issues of race and A-merry-ca's future.

Some of you have mentioned the incident it in the comments section on this blog, and tonight I got an e-mail from someone at UCSD who wanted me to post about it, (shout out to* Natasha)so post I will.

But I am going to approach this post from a different angle. I will not get up on a soap-box and rant about racism in A-merry-ca and it's effects on our national psyche. No, instead, I want to learn. I want to truly understand the mind set of people in the majority here in A-merry-ca.

Because honestly, it's not about a bunch of ignorant college students having a ghetto party to commemorate black history month, (hell these types of parties have been going on forever, and I suspect that there will be more of them in the future) and it's not about what type of literal harm they can bring to one black person in A-merry-ca. Rather, it's about something much deeper and pernicious, and it's something worth discussing as we try to make this country that we love so much live up to her promise.

So here is my question to white folks reading this: (Honest answer please)

When you see a black man in a Hickey Freeman suit, starched white shirt, wingtips, a very nice silk-tie, and a brief case walking down the street, are you thinking...well let me give you a quote from the flyer at UCSD:

"For guys: I expect all males to be rockin Jersey's, stuntin' up in ya White T (XXXL smallest size acceptable), anything FUBU, Ecko, Rockawear, High/low top Jordans or Dunks, Chains, Jorts, stunner shades, 59 50 hats, Tats, etc....We will be serving 40's, Kegs of Natty, dat Purple Drank- which consists of sugar, water, and the color purple , chicken, coolade, and of course Watermelon. So come one and come all, make ya self before we break ya self, keep strapped, get yo shine on, and join us for a day party to be remembered- or not..."

.....so is that what you are thinking when you see the black man in my hypothet? Is your imagery of black folks so messed up that this is the only way you can identify with something having to do with Black History Month? Then, of course, your image of black women doesn't seem to be any better:

"For girls: For those of you who are unfamiliar with ghetto chicks-Ghetto chicks usually have gold teeth, start fights and drama, and wear cheap clothes - they consider Baby Phat to be high class and expensive couture. They also have short, nappy hair, and usually wear cheap weave, usually in bad colors, such as purple or bright red. They look and act similar to Shenaynay, and speak very loudly, while rolling their neck, and waving their finger in your face. Ghetto chicks have a very limited vocabulary, and attempt to make up for it, by forming new words, such as "constipulated", or simply cursing persistently, or using other types of vulgarities, and making noises, such as "hmmg!", or smacking their lips, and making other angry noises, grunts, and faces. The objective is for all you lovely ladies to look, act, and essentially take on these "respectable" qualities throughout the day." [Story]

So why is this? I mean I don't see kids at HBCU's having red neck parties, calling them West Virginia hoe downs, and doing all types of stereotypical things that they associate with rednecks; all in the name of fun. But yet, this is a persistent theme with white kids at various college campuses.

Honestly, (and I have to get like my man uptown Steve now) I have been in more black upscale homes than white ones, and my dentist, doctor, broker, and accountant, are all black.

I really don't know any black males or females like the ones mentioned in the flyer (yes I am sure they exist, but I don't know any) and the black professionals I associate with are more cultured and urbane than the white ones. So again, where does this come from? Is it popular culture? (Are black folks their own worst enemies?) Is it home training? Or is it,as some have suggested, an overpowering need by some folks in the majority population to put down others?

If we don't get the answers, next black history month, you all will be up in arms about another bunch of kids making fun of your race. And yet another institution of -supposed- higher learning will have to do things like the following:

"UCSD CAMPUS NOTICE University of California, San Diego OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR - STUDENT AFFAIRS February 16, 2010 ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD SUBJECT: Condemnation of Off-Campus Party and Affirmation of Principles of Community We were distressed to learn that over the weekend an offensively themed student party, mocking the commemoration of Black History Month, took place off campus. We strongly condemn this event and the blatant disregard of our campus values. Although the party was not a UC SanDiego student-organization sponsored event, participants did include UCSan Diego students and that causes us great concern. As stated in our Principles of Community, we reject acts of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, and political beliefs, and, we will confront and appropriately respond to such acts. We reaffirm our Principles of Community and encourage the campus to join us in our affirmation. In addition, we invite students, staff and faculty to participate in at each-in from noon to 2 p.m. on February 24 in the Price Center East Ballroom to explore how such incidents continue to occur today and to discuss the importance of mutual respect and civility on our campus.

Marye Anne Fox Chancellor, Penny RueVice Chancellor - Student Affairs"

Blah blah blah blah. Sorry Marye Anne, in post racial A-merry-ca, anything goes.

*Thanks again Natasha, keep holding it down at UCSD. 200 among 20,000.00 in Ward Connerly country has got to be tough on even the strongest Field Negro.

Throw Kevin from the plane. And have you punched a republican today?

Heard any good plane stories lately? I have a couple:

The first one involves former presidential candidate, Mitt Romney. Seems my man was trying to get his fly on from the Winter Olympics when a fellow traveler decided to get rude with him. Rather than move his seat upright for take off, the man decided to go all Mike Tyson on the former governor. My goodness! What ever happened to civility in A-merry-ca?

"The man seated in front of Mrs. Romney pushed his seat back, and when the GOP politician asked that he put his seat upright for take off, the passenger became "physically violent," according to Canada's The Globe and Mail.
The ex-gov did not retaliate, his spokesman said, as the airline crew intervened. The plane returned to the gate, the man was ejected, and the flight resumed."

[He became "physically violent", and Mitt didn't retaliate? Republicans!]

Look, I don't like anything about Mitt Romney, and he probably came off as a whiny jerk to the guy. But that is not an excuse to go punching out a stranger on a plane because he tells you to move your seat forward for take-off.

Which begs the question: Do you think the guy knew who Mitt Romney was? And doesn't he [Romney]have enough loot to fly in his own G4? What was he doing flying commercial? I guess he wanted to show that he is a man of the people. Mitt, men of the people don't get clocked by the people on planes. [Story]

And the other plane story involves weight. Seems film Director, Kevin Smith, was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight because he was too fat. Yes, too fat. The pilot kindly asked one of Jersey's finest to take his ample behind off his plane. Apparently Mr. Smith failed to purchase two seats, which I think is the policy for overweight people.

Now I have seen pictures of Kevin Smith, and I have seen bigger people on planes before. I mean give me a break, it's not like the plane couldn't take off because Smith was in it. All those bags in the luggage compartment and they are worried about 300 more pounds? I bet the flight wasn't full, they could have moved him to another seat with an empty one beside him. Come on Southwest, that's not cool picking on big people. ( Actually, it's not cool picking on scantily clad people, either.)

The poor guy was embarrassed, which led to this Tweet:

"Dear @SouthwestAir - I know I'm fat, but was Captain Leysath really justified in throwing me off a flight for which I was already seated?"

No Kevin, he wasn't. But look at the bright side, you now have some material for your next movie.

And after all is said and done, this story might have a happy ending:

"Give Southwest credit for a quick response to a potential crisis. The airline apologized yesterday to Smith, gave him a $100 voucher, and issued a statement on its blog."

That was nice. I just hope that Kevin doesn't use the voucher to buy food. [Story]

When black is not beautiful.

White folks, please don't read this post. This is going to be one of those family discussions. I will give you time to leave, you you can come back to the fields later..... thank you.

OK, so it's time to attack black. It seems that our friends over at the CBC are at it again. There is nothing worse than some of you black folks who have a way too high opinon of yourselves and thus you put yourselves before the collective. You all know who I am talking about, you see these Negroes all the time. If you have ever been to one of these fancy black tie affairs that the Urban League and the NAACP likes to throw, you will see them strutting like peacocks all over the joint. They get the most expensive hotels, the fanciest caterers, and they are always dressed to the nines. Some black folks just love to let the rest of us know how much they have or how impo-tant they are.

So is it any surprise when we hear disgusting stories like the latest coming out of Washington about the members of the CBC and all their enablers?

"In 2008, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation spent more on the caterer for its signature legislative dinner and conference — nearly $700,000 for an event one organizer called “Hollywood on the Potomac” — than it gave out in scholarships, federal tax records show.Read more at Wonkette:"

That is a f*&^%$g disgrace! And it makes me angry just thinking about it. People elected (mostly from poor districts) to serve in Washington, acting as if we sent them there to have fancy parties and live (literally)like fat cats off of lobbyist and their money. I wouldn't mind them enjoying themselves and throwing nice parties if they were actually doing what we sent them to Washington to do: Work. But we know that they are not. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

".. All eight open House investigations involve caucus members, and most center on accusations of improper ties to private businesses.
You cannot swing a dead cat without hitting a major corporate donor to the Congressional Black Caucus. And if you do manage not to hit a major corporate donor with that dead cat, chances are you will hit some important piece of legislation sponsored by a member of the CBC that happens to benefit that corporate donor, but that is purely coincidental!

On a visit to Washington, Larry Carrico, then president of the rent-to-own trade association, offered to donate computers and other equipment to a nonprofit job-training group in Chicago named in honor of Mr. Davis, the Illinois congressman who in 2002 voted in favor of tough restrictions on the industry.
Mr. Davis switched sides. [...]

While some caucus members still oppose the industry, 13 are co-sponsors of the industry-backed legislation that would ward off tough regulatory restrictions — an alliance that has infuriated consumer advocates."

The members of the CBC get away with stuff because black folks are just glad to have a seat at the table. And most black folks don't know -or care-how the sausage is made in Washington. So we send them back every time so that they can raise money for their next election. They do it by keeping their hands out and sucking at the tits of lobbyist. And the end results are sordid tales like the one you have been reading from Wonkette. Or, every now and then one of them gets caught with their hands in the refrigerator.

Look, we all now that the CBC is awash with money, but would it hurt them to use some of it to help the people who put them there once in awhile? (Oh field, don't turn on your own. That's what the republicans and conservatives want you to do. These are your people.) They ain't my people. If every one of those clowns were beaten tomorrow by a white man who would do a better job of serving the needs of the community that sent those CBC members to Washington, I would be all for it. There would be no CBC tomorrow. What's in a name? Who gives a damn if we can say that we have a bunch of African American elected officials if they don't do shit?

"From 2004 to 2008, the Congressional Black Caucus’s political and charitable wings took in at least $55 million in corporate and union contributions, according to an analysis by The New York Times, an impressive amount even by the standards of a Washington awash in cash. Only $1 million of that went to the caucus’s political action committee; the rest poured into the largely unregulated nonprofit network. (Data for 2009 is not available.)

The caucus says its nonprofit groups are intended to help disadvantaged African-Americans by providing scholarships and internships to students, researching policy and holding seminars on topics like healthy living.

But the bulk of the money has been spent on elaborate conventions that have become a high point of the Washington social season, as well as the headquarters building, golf outings by members of Congress and an annual visit to a Mississippi casino resort."

I would say "throw the bums out", but there ain't no "bums" in the CBC.

"all Americana" girls.

I see my girl Sarah was down in Daytona today. Now there is a match made in heaven.

"This is awesome," she said. "It's all-Americana event. Good, patriotic, wonderful event that's bringing a whole lot of people together. I think this is good for our country."

Yes, if your country happens to be Germany circa 1933-1945. "Good."? "Patriotic"? "Wonderful"? Can someone please translate what that means?

Anyway, enough of Sarah. Tonight I want to revisit the "Nutty Professor". You know, the one in Northern Alabama whose ass should have been put under the jail a long time ago.

Seems girlfriend killed her brother back in 1986, and she was also a suspect in a plot to blow Harvard into the Charles River, but she was still walking free and lecturing college students. How did this happen? Well, in A-merry-ca, it pays to know people. And if you happen to live in the burbs, little problems like murder-even against your own family members-can sometimes go away.

"Amy Bishop told police at the time that she had accidentally fired a round from a 12-guage shotgun into the abdomen of her brother, Seth Bishop, while her mother was teaching her about the weapon, the Globe reported."

The report by Trooper Brian Howe said Bishop's "highly emotional state" immediately after the shooting made it impossible to question her. The report said she was 19 at the time. Police say she is 42 now, though the university's Web site lists her as 44.
The handling of the case prompted back-and-forth claims from the current Braintree police chief, Frazier, and the former chief, John Polio.

Frazier said Polio instructed officers to release Amy Bishop to her mother, who had once served on a police personnel board. That move upset officers who remembered the 1986 shooting, Frazier said.

"The police officers here were very upset about that," said Frazier, who was a patrolman at the time and spoke to officers who remembered the incident that day, including one who filed a report on it.

Frazier also said the police records of the shooting have disappeared and he planned to meet with the local district attorney over the possibility of launching a criminal investigation into how the Bishop case was handled.

Polio, now 87, said Saturday at his Braintree home that he was astonished at any implication of a cover-up. He said he didn't instruct officers to release Bishop and wasn't close to her mother, who he said served on the police board years before the shooting."

OK Inspector Renault...I mean Mr. Polio; whatever you say.

One Flew Over The Teabag Nest

Let me talk a little politics with you folks real quick. It's important for folks who follow these wingnut political movements-teabaggers,teabaggers,teabaggers- to understand that if you keep calling for grass roots candidates you might not like what you pull out of the grass.

As Exhibit-A, I give you one Debra Medina; the lady who went on A-merry-ca's most deranged but wingnut friendly talk show, and sadly for her and her supporters, was exposed as a 911 conspiracy nut. (I think they are called "Truthers") Apparently girlfriend is not sure that 911 wasn't some kind of inside job. (That sound you hear is not a bird popping out of an alarm clock.) Now please, also keep in mind, that this woman had closed within percentage points of Kay Bailey Hutchinson for the governor's race in Texas. Hopefully now that she has been exposed for the nut job that she is, she will go back to organizing tea parties and Ron Paul events (they call them Paulinistas) where she belongs.

Can you imagine? This woman almost became the governor of the state of Texas and she is not sure if 911 was an inside job? (BTW, she also had a banner ad. on the Stormfront Neo Nazi website.) The fact that even Beck won't embrace her should tell you something. He even seemed embarrassed by Ms. Medina, and that's saying something.

So what lesson should we take from this? That the teabaggers should screen their candidates a little more? That A-merry-cans will elect anyone to public office as long as they fit their agenda on most issues? Or that the people of Texas are even loonier than we thought? (The woman was at 24% in the polls just four percentage points behind Hutchinson for the run off against another wacko, the current governor, Mr. Goodhair. )

I don't know about the rest of you, but in the week when new pictures of 911 came to light, I find the irony in this story compelling.

My teabag friends, let this be a lesson in democracy to you: You can run who you want for public office, but there is a reason that we still only have predominantly two political parties in this country. It's not always easy to vet candidates for public office. The quick rise of Debra Medina proves it.

The power of the bling.

I guess I should be blogging about another shooting in A-murder-ca. This one in Northern Alabama, a very beautiful part of our country. The killings were allegedly done by a college professor who was denied tenure. Hey, I have a bunch of academics in my family, so I know how important tenure is, but killing three people? Man these are some crazy times we live in.

But enough of the gloom and doom, it's close to Valentine's Day (or, as some people like to say: Valen-times Day. It's Valentine's people. V-A-L-E-N-T-I-N-E-S) and love is in the air.

In keeping with that theme, a young fellow who is thinking of popping the question wanted to know if his engagement ring was nice enough, and he showed it to the field to get my opinion....."What do you think, field? I don't know man, she is kind of high maintenance, I don't want to come off..you know, like I am cheap."

I am not an expert in these things, I don't know anything about the 4-C's that a ring is supposed to have. All I know is that I am probably still paying for mine. And I know that there is a school of though out there that says you are to pay a percentage of your annual salary for your ring. I think it's 10%, or a months salary or something. (Ladies help me with this one.) Personally, I think that people should just buy what they can afford, and in this recession that only makes more sense. But I am not some love struck youngster, so what do I know? So back to my man. He clearly seemed a bit worried and I felt for him. I was thinking that maybe dude wasn't jumping the broom with the right person if he was going to be this worried about his engagement ring. I don't remember sweating it that much, but then I don't remember Mrs. Field being high maintenance, either.

"Does she have a lot of friends?" Yes field, she does. "Well, yeah, you better make sure it's right. Why don't you show it to one of her girls, and ask them if they think she would like it? No, scratch that", I told him, "she has to see it first. "If she doesn't like it do you think she will tell you?" "Nah man, she would probably just take it and laugh at me with her friends later on." Damn! Dude has some issues.

"Hey man, all I can tell you is that it looks pretty good to me. Is it a carat?" "It's a half."" Ah hell, well you are good. It's not like you are Donald Trump. If she goes to get it appraised, and she might, the jeweler will get your back. You did go to a reputable jeweler, right?" "Yep."

"Well stop worrying and go on and pop the question. Where are you going to do it?" "Over dinner Sunday night. We are going to AC this weekend." Poor guy. You would think he was going on the biggest job interview of his life. Well, maybe in a way he is. " So you are sure she will like it field?" "Yes, I am sure. Now stop worrying", I tell him. "Hey, at least if she says no, you could always return that bad bay." I try to laugh, but from the look on his face my man clearly doesn't think it's funny.

Honestly, maybe it will be best for him in the long run if she does say no.

Oh, before I go I want to give a shout out to a very talented brother, James C. Collier, over at the Acting White Blog, for hooking up my Twitter image for me. That is serious field Negro behavior.

Dear John: No apology is needed.

Before I post tonight, here is hoping that Slick Willie is OK. My man has had some heart issues and apparently it's acting up again. Love him or hate him, the guy is the consummate politician. I met him once a few years back and he made me feel like I was the only one in the room. I bet if I met him again he would remember my name. That's how good the guy is. So get well soon, Willie.

Now to my post: I honestly wasn't going to blog about John Mayer, in spite of all the people e-mailing me and asking me about my opinion about what he said. I have said this before, and it's worth repeating: I am actually happy when famous people (or anyone else) make their true feelings about race, religion, or whatever, known. Don't hide behind the mask of political correctness. Don't be a hypocrite. We need to know how you feel and that you are out there.

It's why when ignorant ass trolls come to this site and drop the "N" word like it's going out of style I let them. Because as ugly as it might seem to you, it's important that you understand what kind of country you live in, and how your neighbors (famous or not) really feel about you.

So that's where I stand on Mr. Mayer. And I wasn't going to blog about him until I heard the latest:

"The same day he apologized for using the N-word and blabbing about his sexcapades with Jessica Simpson in Playboy, John Mayer broke down on stage.
While performing his tune "Gravity" Wednesday at Nashville's Sommet Center, Mayer, 32, stopped playing and apologized to his bandmates.

"In the quest to be clever," he began, "I completely forgot about the people that I love and that love me.".." [story]

Oh stop it! What is with famous people when they are caught dropping the "N" word or some other insensitive s#*t going on the apology tour? Watch, he is going to call Rev. Inc. next and they will absolve him of his racial sins. Trust me, once Rev. Inc. says that you are not a racist, you can assimilate back into the PC version of A-merry-can society. Now that's a gig I would love to have.

Hey Field Negro, it's me, Don Imus. Look, I think I might have f*&^#d up and called some black females some not too PC things. Anyway, can you help me? Sure Don, but depending on what you said this one is going to cost you. I called them "nappy headed hoes" on the air. Oh oh, Don, you better get your check book out....I know Don Imus, I know what's in his heart, he is not a racist. Thank you Field, your check is in the mail. What a country. But I digress.

So all of a sudden Mayer sees the folly of his ways, and poof, just like that, he is not a racist anymore.

Give me a break! The guy is disgusting on a couple of levels. And being a racist is just one of them. Fist, he kisses and tells, which makes him a zero in my book. And second, he is an opportunistic liar. All bad things. Mayer later says, in his public mea culpa, that he is going to "get it together". Translated: I am going to try to keep my big mouth shut about my true feelings in the future.

And that's where I stand on Mr. Mayer. Hopefully I won't have to blog about him ever again.

Newt's truth problem, and Hip Hop Mike's race card.

No work today. I am getting cabin fever thanks to all this damn snow outside. Thank goodness for blogging and my republican friends for the entertainment they bring me during these long dreary days of winter.

Where do I start? I think I will start with my man Newt. You remember Newt, don't you folks? He is the guy who asked his dying wife for a divorce after cheating on her, and then publicly rebuked Slick Willie for getting his whistle wet in the people's house. Newt has a way of losing touch with reality, and, like most republcians, he tends to play fast and loose with the truth. In the republican world "truthiness" (I think that's Colbert's word) is just not in vogue.

Consider the following:

"Tuesday night on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart called out Newt Gingrich for Gingrich's claim that the current Administration was 'radical'. At one point, Gingrich pointed to the Administration's 'mirandizing' of the Christmas Underwear Bomber as an example of the Administration's 'radical' actions.

Stewart took exception, asking Gingrich what the difference was between the current Administration treating the underwear bomber as a criminal and the Bush Administration treating Richard Reid as a criminal. Gingrich answered: " Richard Reid was an American Citizen." http://www.thedailyshow.com/ *click on the 5th video on the right side of the viewing window; 3:06 mark*

Except, as Stewart later pointed out, that's simply not true.
Richard Reid was a British citizen.
"Reid, 29, a British citizen and convert to Islam, was arrested for allegedly trying to light a fuse to set off explosives concealed in his sneakers while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami on December 22."
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/LAW/10/04/reid.guilty.plea/
This information of course completely nullifies Gingrich's point.

As Stewart said to Gingrich later in the interview in regard to one of Gingrich's opinions, "don't let reality get in the way". [story]

And his O ness wants to meet these people in the middle? Maybe he should reconsider.

And then, of course, there is the leader of this republican tribe. My man Hip Hop Mike himself. Seems old Mike is not so pleased with some of his fellow republicans and now he too is playing the race card. (I thought black conservatives weren't supposed to play the race card? Isn't that for us progressive "racism chasers" who use racism as an excuse for our failures?) Oh well, I wonder if when a conservative black who likes to preach that racism is so yesterday in A-merry-ca cries race it has as much weight?

"RNC Chairman and designated GOP sparkplug Michael Steele finds himself the center of attention once again this week -- this time for an interview published in February's issue of Washingtonian magazine in which he charges his critics with racism.
Near the end of the story, called "Up In The Air" by Paul West, Steele
implies that he and the RNC face more scrutiny because he is black:

Steele acknowledges that at times he has a tendency to take things too far. "And I get checked on that, just as when I was a young boy and I pushed the envelope too far and my Mama was there to check me."

But there's an edge to his voice when he talks about a double standard that he believes has been applied by his critics, and he posits racism as the cause: "I don't see stories about the internal operations of the DNC that I see about this operation. Why? Is it because Michael Steele is the chairman, or is it because a black man is chairman?"' [story]

Sorry Mike, you can't cry racism now. If some of the folks in your party do happen to be just a little racist I think you might have to suck it up. You don't get a do-over. That's why they put you there, to show the rest of us that they aren't racist. At this point you have to just play along.

"This is, of course, the same Michael Steele who had previously vowed not to play the race card. The GOP chairman said last October he didn't take part in race politics in an interview with Univision, during which he declined to condemn Glenn Beck's assertion that Obama is a "racist."'

Yeah, but that was last October. In post-racial A-merry-ca time that was soooo long ago.
