Still in the fields: And I have some Jewish friends with me.

"I know I'm rambling but whats with black people defending Israel when there doesn't appear to be a significant alliance between blacks and Jews (and YES I know about the whole civil rights movement thing) what else besides that have we worked together on?"

One of the beautiful things about hosting a blog site is that you can respond to very thought provoking and sincere questions with an entire post.

Quite a few of you were taken by surprise and somewhat upset with my stance on Israel and the Jewish people. And given the unfortunate events taking place in the Middle East right now, I can honestly say that I understand where some of you are coming from.

But as sorry as I am for the innocent victims on the Palestinian side, I am just as sorry for the countless Israelis who have been killed by suicide bombers and other despicable acts of terror over the course of that country's history.

So why do I defend Israel? Wow, where do I begin?

First, a little history lesson: Many of you are under the false assumption that the Israelis took away the Palestinian homeland and are now occupiers in a land that they have no claim to. (Kind of like us folks in A-merry-ca and what we did to the Natives, I guess) But you would be incorrect. See, there was never a country called Palestine. Jews came from Judea not Palestine. There is no Palestinian language, no Palestinian culture distinct from other Arabs, and there has never been a land governed by Palestinians known as Palestine. NEVER!

Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. [I am not religious but I will play along, because I know that most of you are.] King David established Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and Muhammad never visited Jerusalem even once. Jerusalem was under Turkish rule from 1517-1917 and under British rule from 1917 until 1948. Jewish prejudice caused many Jews to flee Arab countries and most Jews in Israel today are of Arab, not European decent.

Jews purchased that land from Arab landlords, and there was an Orthodox Jewish community living in Palestine long before the rise of Adolph Hitler in Germany forced many Jews to flee Europe and settle in Israel.

Now I ask you, what were the Jews supposed to do? Our beloved A-merry-ca had turned many of them away after they tried to flee the tyranny of the evil one. (Read about the voyage of the St Louis sometime) So Jews established their own homeland. A homeland, by the way, which they have had to defend in four wars against Arab aggression. A homeland which is the only one they can call their own (the Arab world has over 20), and a homeland which they have managed to do a pretty good job of keeping their own citizens happy in. Oh come on field, what about the poor Palestinians living in Gaza and the West Bank? Don't they live under Israeli Occupation? You mean the Palestinians who can't get their own shit together? The ones who fight among themselves for control and power as much as they fight the Jews? Those Palestinians? Let me see now; Fatah rules the West Bank while Hamas rules Gaza. Nice. A "Two State Solution"? Try a three state solution, because I guarantee you that no matter what, those groups are going to be fighting among themselves for power.

But the Jews are such easy targets. Why isn't anyone blaming the other Arab states for leaving thousands of Palestinian refugees hanging after the 1948 Arab Israeli conflict? Why don't we point our trembling indignant fingers at that scum, King Abdullah of Jordan, for betraying the other Arab nations? Why aren't we outraged at that thief, Yasar Arafat, who stole millions from the Palestinian people? Because it's easier to blame the Jews? Why don't we blame the British for making three different promises with nefarious intentions in mind with their now infamous "Balfour Declaration" after World War I?

So why do I defend the Jews? Because they stood by my side when the chips were down. Hell, some of them hung by my side. Because they helped to start organizations like the Urban League, and the NAACP. Because of stories I hear about Ida Wells in Memphis, Tennessee when blacks organized a militia called the Tennessee Rifles to defend themselves, and it was a Jewish shopkeeper who risked his life to get them those rifles. Because I have mad love for Haile Selassie (Save the Rasta jokes) and when that tyrant, Colonel Mengistu Mariam, overthrew him and started persecuting the Beta Israel people in Ethiopia, it was the Israelis who took them in. (Yes, there are actually Jews from Africa.) Maybe I got tired of seeing Jews trying to just live their lives, only to have their heads cut off on the Internet to make a fucking point. Maybe I like the fact that it's a Jew who started the Southern Poverty Law Center which tracks racist groups in this country and is one of the best run organizations in A-merry-ca. Maybe I like the fact that they don't proselytize to me about their faith like some people.

I know that Jessie and the rest of Rev. Inc. has made it cool to demagogue against Jews in this country. And the only thing that many black folks and Jews have in common is love for a certain chosen one. If you are black and conscious, it's the chic thing to do; bash the Jews. Remember when Professor Grif of PE told the folks in London that "if the Palestinians took up arms and went into Israel and killed all the Jews it would be cool"?

Sorry, I won't bite. The Jews are the least of my problems. To steal a line from the aforementioned PE, I won't "believe the hype".

O man, it's your war now too.

"Hey Field why haven't you mentioned anything about the mudering[sic] SOBs who are supposedly God's people. "

I take it Phil4Real is referring to the Jews and the Jewish state of Israel.

We all now by now what has been going on in Gaza. The Israelis have launched a bombing campaign supposedly against Hamas which has killed over 290 Palestinians, and as I write this they are preparing for a possible ground assault. Israel blames Hamas for instigating the conflict by launching rocket attacks into Southern Israel. Attacks which Israel claims have killed Israeli civilians. As a result, they seem hell bent on destroying Hamas once and for all.

Now many of you who read this blog know that I am a big defender of Israel. I am one of the few so called black progressives who have constantly defended the Israeli people and their right to be able to live in peace. I won't get into the long history of this conflict because that is not the point of this post. But needless to say that Hamas is funded by the Iranians, and they have vowed to destroy Israel and everyone in it. So I don't blame Israel for wanting to go after Hamas.

Still, there is an issue of proportionality here. It's no secret that some civilian targets have been bombed (Including the Islamic University in Gaza), and that is troubling, even for a supporter of Israel such as myself.

But what is almost just as troubling has been the reaction to this latest Middle East conflict by the President and President elect. Treating it like a hot potato won't help the situation, and it certainly won't make it go away.
The frat boy has a few weeks left before his miserable presidency comes to an end, and he is just trying to ride out his last remaining days at his ranch in Crawford, Texas. The O man isn't much better; he is just praying that this thing goes away before he takes office. Did you hear his boy, David Axelrod, on "Meet The Press"? Talk about moonwalking. "But we've said repeatedly through this transition period that there's only one president at a time, and President (George W) Bush speaks for the United States of America until January 20th, and we're going to honor that moving forward." Translated: We are going to leave this Middle East shit alone, because it is way too hot to handle right now. But I am sorry O man, you can't do that. And how do you look trying to play low key now when you said the following back in July? “If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I’m going to do everything in my power to stop that. And I would expect Israelis to do the same thing.” Sooo does that mean that you believe that Israel has a right to defend itself? Come on man, speak up.

O man you better get used to this stuff. It's not going to get any easier. You can't just put this foreign policy stuff in Hillary's hands and tell her to do her thing. You had better become the world leader that you seem to want to be. You are admired and loved on the world stage, so try and use your bully pulpit to the best of your ability to try and bring peace to that region.

Notice I said "try". Because many of your predecessors thought they could get a handle on this Middle East thing only to be in for a rude awakening. A shaky truce between Israel and Egypt which cost Anwar Sadat his life is the best we could do so far.

Anyway, once again, the Middle East is on the brink of an all out war. And it looks like his O ness will have to deal with it whether he likes it or not when he takes office. Obama has big plans for his domestic agenda, but his foreign policy is going to have to be a priority as well. We don't expect him to save the world, especially not in that region. The division and hatred runs too deep. It's so deep that not even the "Magic Negro" can say abracadabra and make it go away. But he will have to try something. He might not be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat, but a real cool card trick would be nice.

The "S" word again.

Poor O man, seems he just can't shake that "Magic Negro" label. Now comes Chip Saltsman, who is in the running for the RNC chair, representing the latest in a long line of repubs to make fun of his O ness and his pedigree.

I know, I know, it's satire. ["I think most people recognize political satire when they see it"] It wasn't meant to offend, everyone is just having a little fun. Just a little something to relieve the racial tension here in A-merry-ca. You black people are just way too sensitive.

Well Chip, I was checking out your album, and I have to be fair to you, not only do you make fun at black folks, your album, "We Hate the U.S.A.", makes fun of the poor, liberals, certain religions, and immigrants as well. Hey, at least you are an equal opportunity satirist. But some of your lyrics could use some work: “See, real black men, like Snoop Dogg, or me, or Farrakhan, have talked the talk, and walked the walk, not come in late and won..” I think you could have been a bit more original, don't you?

Honestly, whenever I read about stories like this one, I always wonder what the black folks in the RNC camp are thinking. Do they think it's funny? Are they embarrassed? Do they pick up the phone, call their comrades in arms, and say: hey man, you are killing me here? Do they tell their republican pals that they are making it way too easy for certain bloggers of color and black folks to label the party as insensitive?

Personally, I love it. Just more stuff for me to write about and to dissect. Just more insight into the souls of my friends on the right. I want to learn as much as I can about you folks. Because the next time you express yourselves in a satirical way, I really want to be able to say: I get it.

Just an accident?

Add me to the list of bloggers who are saying hmmmm about this story.

I really hate the Bush republican cabal for making me think this way, but here I am, a living breathing skeptic of all things Bush and Cheney.

Please read below and tell me if you aren't just a tad bit skeptical yourself:

"At 3:31 PM Friday, December 19, Michael L. Connell, a top Internet consultant for the Republican National Committee and for the Bush and McCain presidential campaigns, left Washington from the small airport in College Park, Md. Alone at the helm of a single engine Piper Saratoga, Connell's flight plan anticipated arrival at his hometown Akron-Canton Airport in a little over two hours, at 5:43 PM.

Instead, about three miles short of the Akron-Canton Airport, Connell's plane crashed to the ground in an upscale section of Lake Township, killing Connell instantly. "I was standing in the kitchen and I looked out the window and all I saw was fire," Taylor Fano told The Akron Beacon Journal. "It took out the flagpole and the cement blocks surrounding the flagpole . . . . It skidded across the driveway and right in-between a line of pine trees and a small fence around an in-ground pool."

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident and has not yet filed a report, but there was no immediate evidence of wrong-doing or sabotage.
Many in the blogosphere have called for further investigation of the crash, suggesting that Connell was about to provide crucial information in the case of alleged vote fraud in the 2004 Ohio presidential contest, and that that information would implicate Karl Rove and others in the Bush administration. [see update below]

Just last month, Connell was deposed in the ongoing case, King Lincoln Bronzeville Neighborhood Association v. Blackwell. According to accounts of the November 3rd deposition, Connell denied any knowledge of attempts to fraudulently manipulate 2004 Ohio vote counts.

There is, however, a more immediate and relevant question: How much will Connell's death, even if the accident was entirely without malfeasance, impede congressional committee investigations into the more controversial activities of the Bush administration over the past eight years - including the ongoing investigation into thousands of missing White House-RNC emails sent and received by some 22 White House political aides, including Rove. These emails are believed likely to shed light on the political firings of U.S. Attorneys, and to show if the White House had any role in controversial decisions to prosecute former Alabama Democratic Governor Don Siegelman.

After first emerging as a web consultant during the 1998 gubernatorial campaign of Jeb Bush, Connell quickly became a key member of the Republican brain trust and quickly became part of a small network of political consultants and lobbyists favored by Rove. He advised both Bush-Cheney campaigns, and was a regular consultant to the RNC and other GOP committees.

Connell, and his firms - New Media Communications, Govtech and Connell Donatelli Inc. - were part of a universe that included such other GOP operatives as Tony Feather and Jeff Larson of FLS Connect, Tom Synhorst of the DCI Group, and Jeff Averbeck of Smartech. Their companies have received millions of dollars from the Bush-Cheney campaign committees of 2000 and 2004 from the three major - national, congressional and senatorial - Republican Party committees; from such conservative interest groups as the National Rifle Association and Citizens Against Government Waste; from a host of corporations and trade associations seeking to remain in the administration's good graces; and from dozens and dozens of Republican House and Senate campaigns."

More here.

Oh field, has it ever occurred to you that it could all be just a big coincidence? Actually, no. Not with this bunch. But I will take a wait and see approach. I just hope that no stone will be left unturned in this investigation. And if there is no investigation, we will scream loud enough for every reasonable person in A-merry-ca to hear and then demand one.

Holiday horror!

I happen to be sneaking in this post because I promised Mrs. Field that I would take a 48 hour break from blogging. Not!

Anyway, reading this story seriously upset me over the the X Mas break. Honestly, WTF is wrong with some people? This animal killed eight people because of a beef with his ex. Now I am used to killings, and I am pretty much at the stage in my life where nothing really seems to shock my conscience anymore. But this clown, dressed up as Santa for crying out loud, started out his sickening and disgusting act, by shooting an eight year old point blank range in the face. DRESSED AS SANTA!!

Now, I am too old to believe in Santa, but I understand how important the Santa myth and legend is to children all over the world. And this sicko should be put down on the spot for committing his atrocious act in Santa's suit. Honestly, I need help with this one. What is it that would possess someone to kill eight people over a relationship gone sour? I mean I love Mrs. Field, but if the day should ever come where I even thought about doing something like this because she rolled on me, I hope everyone of you reading this would petition to have me committed.

Still, at least he saved us the trouble and took himself out. One less depraved human being living among us. One less sicko to shatter our holiday spirits and harm our children.

Christmas spirit.

As I sit here stuffing my face and looking at a tree loaded with presents underneath it; I can't help but think of how lucky I am. Here I am on the eve of the most most popular holiday in A-merry-ca, and I am not cold, hungry, or broke. Sadly, I can't say the same for a lot of people in this country. People who are going through all sorts of financial anxieties, or who have been hit with one family crisis or another.

Of course happiness can be such a relative thing. You can point out the fact that there are folks in some countries who would give their right arms to be living in A-merry-ca right now. To them, Christmas is a day that is even more depressing because of what they cannot provide or obtain. To them, there is nothing merry about the merriest day in A-merry-ca.

But this is not a bash A-merry-ca post. Some A-merry-cans can be wonderfully benevolent people. (Some) A-merry-cans have given their time and money to many worthy charities in this country and the world. Charities like this one. And many A-merry-cans are decent caring people who really do understand the true spirit of Christmas. That is the A-merry-ca that I am happy to live in, and these are the A-merry-cans who I am proud to call my neighbors.

Season's greetings everyone, and may Rudolph find your house tonight.

The New Green Economy.

"Legalize it, and I will advertise it"

~Peter Tosh~

O man, if this is true, we will be naming a National Holiday after you in my homeland. Are you kidding me? Making the ganja plant legal will give you icon status right next to brother Bob with Yawdies world wide, and with a significant segment of the A-merry-can population right here at home. I just hope that they vote.

As someone who does not partake of the good collie weed (stop laughing, I don't) I can honestly approach this debate from a totally objective point of view. And if we are going to be fair we have to say that decriminalizing the drug would be the best way to approach the drug epidemic that has been sweeping this country for years.

The O man himself has said that the current war on drugs is an "utter failure" and that we should "shift the paradigm to a public health approach" in how we deal with this issue. From all accounts we could generate anywhere from "$10 to $14 billion in savings and taxes every year", and we could put a serious dent in all the money we spend on public safety and redirect those resources to areas where it is really needed in the law enforcement arena. It all sounds good to me, and all I can tell you is that there are some very smart people who agree with that approach as well.

I am just hoping that this is part of the new green economy that his O ness is always talking about. We can only wish. Now this is change that I could believe in. (Oh field stop it, you are an officer of the court, why are you encouraging pot smoking?) I am not. If it is made legal it should come with a warning label, just like cigarettes. And folk s should be encouraged to smoke responsibly, just like drinking.

Now you wanna be Rastas who believe that "the herb is the healing of the nation" don't go getting your hopes up too high just yet. ( No pun intended) His O ness has been known to go back on a promise or two of late. And from all accounts there is a good chance that he might select a real tough law and order man, Jim Ramstad, who would never heed Peter Tosh's words, as his Drug Czar.

So let's see what his O ness does. I know he smokes cigarettes, or he used to, so maybe there will be some sensitivity to this issue, smoking I mean. Maybe just maybe the O man will throw us secular progressives a bone with some meat on it. It would be about time, I am starting to get really hungry.

See what you started Obama?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but apparently this horse still has some riding left in it.

Now comes word that the creepy one is joining forces with some members of Civil Rights Inc. And he will be giving the key note address at the MLK, Jr. Annual Commemorative Service at Ebeneezer Baptist Church of all places. Brother Martin's body is no longer resting peacefully in Georgia; it is now in California, thanks to all the rolling and turning over that poor Martin has been doing in his grave.

"Obama’s invitation opened the door for positive communication between the conservative movement and the civil rights movement. " Really? Does the term oil and water mean anything to anyone? Talk about strange bed fellows. I am sorry, call me stubborn, but there are certain groups in this country --the religious right/ christian conservatives being one of them-- that I will never see eye to eye with. And I am all for civil rights, which is exactly why we can't come together for anything. They are not. Civil rights means civil rights for all citizens, not just the ones who happen to fit into their strict Christian dogmas and who obey Christian laws as they interpret them. But field, by refusing to reach a common ground with them, aren't you guilty of doing the exact same thing that they are? Yes I am. It's called taking a principled position on an issue and not wavering, even if it means meeting a popular preacher halfway. If you believe in human rights and civil rights for all A-merry-cans without compromise, you cannot "open the door" for communication with bigots.

"I think this is nothing but a wonderful statement about the progress that makes up our lives... Rick Warren – someone many would consider in the southern Baptist tradition – has embraced diversity. We can come together in the common love of Christ in contrast to our social opinion...” ~Reverend Mark Whitlock~~

Progress? Sorry Rev. Creepy Rick has NOT embraced diversity, and you have been hoodwinked if you think he has.

"Hopefully individuals passionately expressing opinions from the left and the right will recognize that both of us have shown a commitment to model civility in America,''

Rick, this isn't a left right issue, it's a moral one. And as a self professed man of faith, you should understand that.

Just once.

It turns out that's how many times the O man's right hand man, Rahm Emanuel, chatted it up with Rod Blagojevich. And, it turns out, there was no juicy discussion about a quid pro quo between his O ness and Blago for his Senate seat.

That chill you feel is from the air caused by the wind that just got sucked out of Conservatives. Just last week Sean Hannity and his friends from FOX were speculating that there might have been as much as 25 different taped conversations between Emanuel and Blago. And they were salivating at the possibilities. Oh if only it could have been different, Christmas would have been a year long event for my friends on the right.

"Sources also confirm that Emanuel made the case for picking Obama confidante Valerie Jarrett during at least one of the conversations. In the course of that conversation, Harris asked if in return for picking Jarrett, "all we get is appreciation, right?" "Right," Emanuel responded."

Yep, all you get is "appreciation" that' s kind of how the O man rolls, and rolling like that has served the O man well.

S0 move along folks, there is no scandal to see here. His O ness and his crew might have been a little slow on the uptake with this one, but once again, there is no fire to go with the smoke.

O man, you are one lucky guy.

LET THE SCAPEGOATING BEGIN.

Now comes the following little gem from the AP:

"Anti-Jewish commentary is flooding the Internet in the wake of Bernard Madoff's arrest on charges of masterminding one of the biggest Wall Street frauds in history, campaigners said Friday.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said there had been 'an outpouring of anti-Semitic comments on mainstream and extremist Web sites.'

Madoff, 70, is Jewish and a prominent member of the powerful US Jewish community. He is alleged to have defrauded investors, including a number of Jewish-related charities, of some 50 billion dollars.

Site users have posted comments ranging from deeply offensive stereotypical statements about Jews and money -- with some suggesting that only Jews could perpetrate a fraud on such a scale -- to conspiracy theories about Jews stealing money to benefit Israel,' the ADL said in a statement.

'Jews are always a convenient scapegoat in times of crisis, but the Madoff scandal and the fact that so many of the defrauded investors are Jewish has created a perfect storm for the anti-Semites,' said Abraham Foxman, ADL national director.

'Nowadays, the first place Jew-haters will go is to the Internet, where they can give voice to their hateful ideas without fear of repercussions."

"Jews are always a convenient scapegoat in times of crisis..."

And you might want to add blacks, gays, immigrants, and any other minority group that you can think of to that number.

Look, Madoff was selected by moi to be Honorary House Negro of the day, because he stole millions and millions of dollars from people who were supposed to be his friends. (Many of them Jewish themselves) To tie in the man's ethnicity or religion with a despicable act which he alone committed is typical of the ignorant people in this country who make up far too large a segment of our population.
But I should have known that this was happening. I saw it here when one particular racist made reference to Madoff's race in his comments. You gotta love these ignorant moronic racist; they are always so predictable.

We better get used to this folks; as times get harder this will only get worse. I am just hoping that the grown ups win this debate, because if they don't, we are going to be in a shit load of trouble.

The Airline Industry will be next with their hands out. Wait.....

When the story is finally written about the death of our great society, there will no doubt be a very large chapter dedicated to the A-merry-can airline industry. What a joke!

There ought to be a law forbidding airlines from refusing to serve food on flights over three hours long. Are you kidding me? God bless the flight attendant who saw that poor Mrs. Field was starting to look like one of those poor children in Darfur and decided to sneak some cookies our way. And I don't mind paying for airline food, but a dollar for a cup of coffee served in a cup that belongs in a Suzie Home maker set is a bit much. And don't even get me started on the ball of confusion that is the check in process and the rip off that goes on there.

I was robbed at gun point a a kid in Jamaica once, and I think this felt just as bad. "Sir you can't carry that bag on it look a little too big." "Really, I carry this bag on all the time." "No sir you will have to check it. You already checked one, so that will be $25 for the second one." Did I mention that the first one was $15? Add Mr. Fields usual two checked bags filled with Philly's finest wear which must accompany her whether she wears them or not, and you get the idea of why I think US Air Capone was in rare form today. Hey, at least I could finally claim them from the baggage carousel. I could dedicate an entire blog to my adventures with that as well.

Oh well, all is well that ends well. I am off on the road now, but I will be blogging everyday and keeping the fields alive with the sounds of your voices. Why? Because I am hooked on this stuff, and because I always have something to say.

Peace.

The Bullet Or The Burger?

City Council here in my fine city convened recently to pass legislation on banning trans fats in the food served in our restaurants. Now this might very well have positive long term effects, and there is no doubt that some of these elected officials might have their hearts in the right place. But I am sorry, banning trans fats was just not at the top of the list of things that we needed to do in Philly right now.

I read this fine article from Daniel Rubin in my local paper, and it was heart breaking to say the least. I mean here we have two generations of black men slaughtered in our streets by other black men as if their lives meant nothing. How sick is that shit? When does it end? It seems I write a post like this at least once a month. I am always moved to write when the Kill in Killadelphia gets to be too much even for me.

Anthony Harris, Peter Styles, Kosai Barouki, and Khalid Trice are all names you are hearing here for the first time, and they are names that you will never hear again. These men were all slaughtered on our mean streets over a three day period, bringing our murder count to 319. But the killings here of young black men by other young black men has become so ordinary, so mundane , that in terms of importance it ranks below the cost of our parking meters going up in Center City. No one notices, and no one cares. Just make sure those Negroes keep shooting each other and no one else. And the real sick thing is that the people who seem more effected by these senseless killings don't care either. Read the story in the link that I gave you again: the young man was shot in broad daylight in front of countless witnesses, yet no one will come forward. This is the culture we live in, where even potential witnesses live by the code of the streets.

I am following a story down in Mississippi, where a young black man allegedly committed suicide after being stopped by a police officer. If it turns out that the police officer's hands were less than clean there will be hell to pay, and rightfully so. But why does it take a white police officer shooting one of our own to send us into rage? Why aren't we outraged at these animals who are terrorising our neighborhoods and causing us to live in fear? Because they look like us? Because they are our own brothers and sons? I don't think so.

These animals are no better than the racist who were lynching us back when the South's most famous crop was "strange fruit" hanging from trees. These animals who kill without conscience and remorse should be priority number one for the people who we elect to look out for our best interest. We are in a war on terror alright, but it ain't against Al Qaeda, it's against our sons.

Yeah it's cool to ban trans fats. But what good will that do if we are killed by a bullet way before the trans fat takes its toll on our hearts? I think I speak for all of us when I say that I would would rather be killed by a burger than a bullet every time.

WHERE ARE THE O-JAYS WHEN YOU NEED THEM? AND WAS THAT A KNIFE IN RICK'S HAND?

O man you are killing me. Not because I am not doing cart wheels over your cabinet selections. I didn't expect to. I understand that it's your team, and you go to war with the soldiers you feel most comfortable with. And by golly if it means that you will have a successful run at this POTUS thing, then so be it. We will all benefit.

But you are killing me because I just read that Rick Warren of all people will be giving the invocation at your inauguration. I know why you are doing it, you want to show Christian conservatives that you are embracing them even though they didn't embrace you. My question to you would be why? Why invite the guy that set you up like some mob family rubbing out a rat? Did you really think that he was inviting you to his church for just a little sit down? I mean come on O man, who do you think Rick Warren really wanted to be president? I will give you a hint; it wasn't your black behind. And don't for a minute think that just because the Queen of Soul will be singing you are off the hook. She hasn't had a hit in forever, and you should know that.

Rick Warren? Something about the guy creeps me out. I know you are going to be saying your full name (Barack Hussein Obama) and you are scared that Joe A-merry-ca is going to be linking you to the whole Muslim thing; so what better way to assure him that you are a real Christian than to showcase Rick Warren.

But you know what O man? At some point these other folks--- you know the ones who didn't vote for you-- -are just going to have to get over the fact that you won. And if you do a good job as their president, all these little tokenized (I made that word up) acts and the symbolism that goes along with them won't be necessary, because their lives will be better than it was before you became POTUS.

Oh well at least you have Joseph Lowery doing the benediction. May I add a few words of my own?

"For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, And those who hate You have exalted themselves." ~Psalm 83:2 ~

Amen.

...the more they stay the same.

Most of you know that I love sports. ESPN and all things sports have become a part of my daily life. Take your pick, I love pro and college sports, it doesn't really matter.

But I want to talk about college sports for a minute, and a dirty little secret in big time college football. For those of you who follow college sports, you will know by now that Auburn University fired their successful football coach, and hired a guy who was about to get fired by a lessor known football school, Iowa State. He was about to be fired because even at a non powerhouse program like Iowa State, a record of 5-19 is not acceptable. Gene Chizik might be a good man and a great motivator, but the truth of the matter is that he did not deserve to get the Auburn job. Turner Gill did.

Field, why Turner Gill? Well, Turner Gill is African American and....Oh here we go, of course, here comes field with the give it to the black guy speech. No, not quite, this time it's a give it to the best guy who happens to be black, speech. And if I did give that speech, could you think of a better group of people to give it to than the nation's top college Athletic Directors? Consider: Twenty five percent of the assistance in major college football are African American; fifty percent of the players are African American; yet only three percent of the coaches are black. That grades an "F" from the Black Coaches Association. Wouldn't it have been nice if a big time program like Auburn had stepped up to the plate and hired a qualified person of color? I don't often agree with the mouth from the South, but Charles was right about his Alma Mater this time. This shit was embarrassing.

"It’s a comment on Auburn. It’s a comment on the state of Alabama, I just feel sadness because you know what people think of the South and Alabama, things like that. And you just hope that at some point that people are going to say we’re going to change this. Or it’s just going to stay status quo...” ...I look at things from a commonsense standpoint, how do you interview Turner Gill and pick Gene Chizik over Turner Gill?"

Not only Auburn Charles. All the big time Division 1-A programs with there athletic directors, boosters, and alumni. Many of these schools are in places like Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas, where college football is their pro game. And even in places with pro teams like Georgia and Louisiana, the college football team is still the only game in town. Who do you think is more well known in Georgia, the coach of the Bulldogs or the coach of the Falcons? If you guessed the "Dawgs" you guessed right.

And now the buzz is that one reason Gill was turned down, wasn't because he is black, but because his wife is white. Yep, seems jungle fever doesn't play too well at those cocktail parties with those good ole boy boosters. They don't want to have to "guess who is coming to dinner". Oh, and we might want to add Florida assistant, Charlie Strong, to that mix. Yep, seems the white wife scuttled his chances as well. Honey I am going on a job interview. Hey, check out this new tanning bed I got you. Oh, and look at this nice wig.

Oh field stop it, you are such a race baiter. If that was the case why doesn't the black AD at Syracuse hire Gill? Isn't he in the state of New York already? (University of Buffalo) What is it field? Self racism? Maybe all these athletic directors are smarter than we are, have you ever thought of that. Maybe it's not about race? Yep, I think about it all the time. And you know what? My mind always goes back to the same thing.

"I shuddered when I read the comments of Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs, who spoke of Chizik being the “right fit” for the job. I desperately hope that had everything to do with football."

~Dick Gabrial~~

I hope so too Dick. But it doesn't matter whether it had to do with football or not. The next big black buck recruit will still be all too glad to sign on the dotted line for old Southern State U come signing day.

Some things will never change.

DICK CHENEY IS A BAD PERSON!

Just when I started to feel sorry for the frat boy, I read some transcripts from his number two man, the devil incarnate himself, Dick Cheney. Seems now that we are just days away from the frat boy's final farewell the evil one has finally decided to talk. Oh he talked before, which is kind of how we know he is the evil one. Remember this interview back in 2005 with Terry Moran of ABC News?
Moran: "Don't you have to have a court give permission for that in any other circumstance -- to eavesdrop on communications in America? "
Cheney: "Terry, these are communications that involve acknowledged or known terrorists -- dirty numbers, if you will. And in fact, it is consistent with the president's constitutional authority as commander in chief. It's consistent with the resolution that was passed by the Congress after 9/11. And it has been reviewed repeatedly by the Justice Department every single time it's been renewed, to make certain that it is, in fact, managed in a manner that's fully consistent with the Constitution and with our statutes. "

That was the evil one on domestic surveillance.

Moran:" How so, when it comes to cruel, inhuman-- What's the president's prerogative in the cruel treatment of prisoners? "

Cheney: "There's a definition that's based on prior Supreme Court decisions and prior arguments, and it has to do with the Fourth, Thirteenth, and -- three specific amendments to the Constitution. And the rule is whether or not it shocks the conscience. If it's something that shocks the conscience, the court has agreed that crosses over the line.
Now, you can get into a debate about what shocks the conscience and what is cruel and inhuman. And to some extent, I suppose, that's in the eye of the beholder. But I believe, and we think it's important to remember, that we are in a war against a group of individuals and terrorist organizations that did, in fact, slaughter 3,000 innocent Americans on 9/11, that it's important for us to be able to have effective interrogation of these people when we capture them.
And the debate is over the extent to which we are going to have legislation that restricts or limits that capability. Now, as I say, we've reached a compromise. The president signed on with the McCain amendment. We never had any problem with the McCain amendment. We had problems with trying to extend it as far as he did. But ultimately, as I say, a compromise was arrived at, and I support the compromise."
Moran: "Should American interrogators be staging mock executions [and] waterboarding prisoners? Is that cruel? "
Cheney: "I am not going to get into specifics here. You're getting into questions about sources and methods, and I don't talk about that, Terry."
Moran: "As vice president of the U.S., you can't tell the American people whether… "
Cheney: "I don't talk about-- "
Moran: …or not we would interrogate… "
Cheney: "I can say that we, in fact, are consistent with the commitments of the United States that we don't engage in torture. And we don't. "
Moran: "Are you troubled at all that more than 100 people in U.S. custody have died -- 26 of them now being investigated as criminal homicides -- people beaten to death, suffocated to death, died of hypothermia in U.S. custody? "
Cheney: "No. I won't accept your numbers, Terry. But I guess one of the things I'm concerned about is that as we get farther and farther away from 9/11, and there have been no further attacks against the U.S., there seems to be less and less concern about doing what's necessary in order to defend the country. "

That was the evil one on torture.

Moran: "Does the United States maintain secret prisons around the world?
Cheney: "I'm not going to talk about intelligence matters.
Moran: Secret prisons?"
Cheney: "I'm not going to talk about intelligence matters."
Moran: "Does the International Red Cross have access to everyone in U.S. custody, as we are obliged?"
Cheney: "Terry, with all due respect, I won't discuss intelligence matters. I shouldn't.
Moran: I'd like to put this personally, if I can. You're a grandfather. I'm a father. When we look at those girls and we think that the country we're about to pass to them is a country where the vice president can't say whether or not we have secret prisons around the world, whether waterboarding and mock executions is consistent with our values, and a country where the government is surveilling without the warrant of a court, is that the country we want to pass on to them?"

Cheney: "I want to pass on to them a country that is free, that is not plagued by terrorist attacks, doesn't see a repeat of the terrible events of 9/11 when we lost 3,000 of our people that morning to a handful of terrorists who had no justification at all for what they do.
I can guarantee you that we do do as a government, as an administration, is to support and uphold the Constitution of United States, that we do, in fact, take extraordinary steps to make certain we maintain our constitutional obligations and responsibilities, which includes both defending the country as well as defending individual liberties and protecting the rights of all Americans. "

That was the evil one on secret prisons.

Fast forward to 2008, and the evil one is still talking to ABC.

KARL:"Did you authorize the tactics that were used against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?
CHENEY: I was aware of the program, certainly, and involved in helping get the process cleared, as the agency, in effect, came in and wanted to know what they could and couldn't do. And they talked to me, as well as others, to explain what they wanted to do. And I supported it.
KARL: In hindsight, do you think any of those tactics that were used against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and others went too far?"
CHENEY: I don't. "

Okaaay.

KARL: "And on KSM, one of those tactics, of course, widely reported was waterboarding. And that seems to be a tactic we no longer use. Even that you think was appropriate?
CHENEY: I do."
Okaaay.

KARL: "You probably saw Karl Rove last week said that if the intelligence had been correct, we probably would not have gone to war."

CHENEY: "I disagree with that. I think -- as I look at the intelligence with respect to Iraq -- what they got wrong was that there weren't any stockpiles. What we found in the after-action reports, after the intelligence report was done and then various special groups went and looked at the intelligence and what its validity was. What they found was that Saddam Hussein still had the capability to produce weapons of mass destruction. He had the technology, he had the people, he had the basic feed stocks.

They also found that he had every intention of resuming production once the international sanctions were lifted. He had a long reputation and record of having started two wars. Of having brutalized and killed hundreds of thousands of people, some of them with weapons of mass destruction in his own country. He had violated 16 National Security Council resolutions. He had established a relationship as a terror-sponsoring state, according to the State Department. He was making $25,000 payments to the families of suicide bombers.

This was a bad actor and the country's better off, the world's better off, with Saddam gone, and I think we made the right decision, in spite of the fact that the original NIE was off in some of its major judgments. "

So waterboarding is cool, and we would have gone to war whether we found WMDs in Iraq or not."

"This was a bad actor and the country's better off, the world's better off, with Saddam gone, and I think we made the right decision, in spite of the fact that the original NIE was off in some of its major judgements."

Just a little off Dick? Thousands of lives lost, countless wounded, and approaching a trillion dollars in cost, and yet we made the "right decision"?

You know what Dick? The world might be better off without Saddam. But here is the irony of it all; pretty soon, you will get a chance to spend a whole lot of time with him.

Iraqi shoe- ts at our Prez.

So here I am on a crisp Sunday afternoon, going over some post trial briefs, and keeping one eye on some crime show on MSNBC. Then I hear the BREAKING NEWS ALERT, and I glance over to the tube. These alerts always get my attention, because in these volatile and perilous times in which we live, you just never know what might be coming next. So what was it? An Iraqi journalist threw both his shoes at my Commander in Chief. Both of them. (Are we sure we still have Richard Reid in custody?)

Now I don't want to pile on the frat boy, lord knows he has been subjected to enough obloquy and derision. But there was the clip over and over again. The frat boy with that little irritating smirk of his, yucking it up with the Iraqi Premier, and taking questions from the journalist present in the room. And then, shockingly, there is the man doing his best Pedro Martinez imitation with his size tens.

Now my first thought was that the frat boy was pretty nimble on his feet, and he showed some good moves to avoid the first shoe. (The guy should have been a boxer. I bet he would have been a better boxer than he was President) The second shoe was going to miss no matter what because It was high and away. (Ball one strike one) And of course my next thought was, where the hell is the Secret Service? They guy got off two shoes before they could take him down. What if he was firing bullets instead of shoes? And what if those shoes were bombs instead of Iraqi Adams or whatever the hell they wear in Iraq? ("Iraqi Adams", get it?). Hey, let's just be glad that Shaq is on our side. Anywho, I really shouldn't be making light of this, it could have been a seriously tragic event in our nation's history. It could have triggered a war....wait, we are already at war with the Iraqis. Okay, but it could have been a serious historic event, nevertheless.

Obama let that be a lesson to you, you better start calling on those FOX reporters. You don't want them pretending they are Iraqi journalist on you all of a sudden. Who are we going to send to cover the Obama news conference today? How about old Major Garrett, I hear he has a pretty mean fastball. Besides, he wears size 12 shoes, there is no way he can miss.... But don't worry O man, I have a suggestion: all members of the press must remove their shoes before going into the White House press briefings. If they don't want to comply, they don't get credentialed. It's that simple.

Still, even though the shoes missed, this is yet another sad day in what is fast becoming one of the worst and saddest administration in the history of our democracy. Just think about it for a minute: Our President suffered the indignity and the affront of having a journalist from a country he claims he liberated throw his shoes at him. And while in a formal press conference no less. You can't make this stuff up. And if you did, you would have a hit movie or novel on your hands.

Poor frat boy. Honestly, I am actually starting to feel sorry for the guy.

Now I know I am getting old.

BAIL THEM OUT!

"Please,please,please,please me......"

As the Detroit auto executives do their best James Brown imitation to Congress, it seems that everyone has an opinion about whether Congress should bail out the Big 3 or not.

Now first, I have a true confession: I have owned only one A-merry-can made car in my entire life. But still, that doesn't mean that I don't understand the importance and the significance of the A-merry-can auto industry. And before you start with me, don't even bother; I know that I am a hypocrite, and that I helped to contribute to the demise of the auto industry, so I should be one of the last people advocating for it.

But how can you blame me? I have mad love for Michigan. My first experience with A-merry-ca was as a very young child in East Lansing. I was there with my family while my father attended school and finished up his graduate studies. Michigan was where I first experienced snow, where I first forged friendships with people of other races, and where I was first introduced to A-merry-can games such as football and baseball (to this day the Detroit Tigers is my favorite baseball team). The first car I ever drove was my father's Cutlass by Oldsmobile. (I think they made them in Lansing) So it hurts to watch Michigan die a slow economic death as the auto industry struggles to survive. It hurts to watch rethugs demagogue this issue and try to score political points with their base while auto workers face the prospects of losing their jobs and their way of life. (Whatever happened to helping Main Street and not Wall Street?)

Now look, I know this is a tough call for some people. (Not rethugs, they are going to be against the working man no matter what)The executives at these companies have done a less than stellar job for the past 40 years. They have been slow to adjust to change, and their business model has not exactly been one that we could hold up as a shining example for our B school students all over the country. Flying to Washington in private jets was just plain stupid, and it shows just how out of touch they are. But Jim Press, VP of Chrysler, is right when he says that an auto failure could "trigger a depression" because of the "fragile nature of the economy". To ignore that fact would be just foolhardy. Come on field what's wrong with letting them go bankrupt and file for Chapter 11? They could finally try to be more innovative and restructure some of those UAW contracts. Let them go the way of Studebaker, Packard,Hudson and Nash; it's capitalism at work, make a better product and we will buy it. That's a fair point, and I would almost buy it. Almost. But there is just too much at stake with these companies. They employee far too many people who could lose their jobs. Way too many service industries who rely on them could go under, and the domino effect it would create could be devastating. Homes would be lost, tax bases would dry up, and entire communities would become extinct. It would be devastating to the state of Michigan and cities such as Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw, and Flint. And it could be devastating to you. I don't care where you live.

But do the rethugs care? Of course not. The Bogey Man to them in all of this is the UAW, and they want to teach them a lesson. After all, don't all the car manufacturers down South (where there are no union shops) do just fine? Why can't the Big 3 eliminate these UAW folks and start paying their workers closer to what the average Chinese and Indian worker gets? I will answer that: Because they aren't down South, and because they have kids in college and mortgages to pay. And because most of these people with there so called high wages support communities by spending where they live, that's why.

"For decades, Republicans have supported corporate efforts to earn profits without accountability to working Americans. Profits and bonuses rose before the decline, often by eliminating domestic production — and jobs — while switching operations overseas.
Yet when some of our biggest domestic employers need help — employers that actually produce something tangible, unlike Wall Street — Republicans choose to preach rather than do something constructive. Their actions betray American workers and sabotage an already fragile economy.

Yes, the automakers have a lot to learn, but surely not at the expense of our economic viability. It is almost inconceivable that Republicans would risk destroying some of the nation’s few remaining manufacturing giants just to teach the unions a lesson. "

~Barry Moskowitz, Opinion letter in the New York Times~~

Well said Barry, let's hope that there are some rethugs who stop watching FOX long enough to actually read the "Times".

So what do we do? We give the Big 3 the money with some strings attached. We demand accountability and we damn near Nationalize all three of those companies. (Field, you are such a Socialist. I know. But think about it. If there was a National Health Care Plan we wouldn't even be having this discussion, because the Big 3 wouldn't even have to worry about paying billions in health benefits to their employees) The Management culture has to change at these companies as well, and they have to rethink how they do business. (Design a car that the field might want to drive damn it!) And I am with the O man on this one; they have got to go green. In fact, some of the money we give them should be earmarked for environmental outcomes. And they have to do a better job of marketing their cars. They have to create better incentives to buy, and come up with more creative ways of financing the product. If people don't start going to the Big 3 show rooms we will be right back in this position in the very near future.

So that is my two cents. I am with Ben Stein of all people on this one. Let's bail out those suckers. Let's help the people of Michigan like we did the people of New York City. They deserve that much. Besides, I am sick of hearing these auto executives beg.

I found another one.

Ahhh this is rich. Every now and then I love to make people aware of what is going on in blogger land among some of our more mentally challenged bloggers.

Anywho, I stumbled across this gem while checking out "Bloglines". The clown uses the words "Negro Field" in his post so it showed up under my handle. As with a previous blogger I linked here; it's hard to tell if this genius thinks he is funny, is trying to use satire to make a point, or is just a flat out racist.

Check it out:

"Even though few Whites have heard a thing about it, Negroes — of all ages and sexes — secretly perform a boisterous Chimpanzee ritual called “Cheshi Tumbili” (Funny Monkey) in the privacy of their subPRIMATE mortgage homes and away from any prying White eyes. During this activity, they drink the intoxicating malt beverage “Colt-45″ and smoke copious amounts of narcotic substances, like crack cocaine or cheap Mexican skunkweed. The rare photograph above shows us two, possibly on the “down-low,” Negroes doing the Funny Monkey — now thought to be a vestigial behavior from the days of darkest Africa!

PART II OF MY GROUNDBREAKING “BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL” RESEARCH PROJECT: STEALTH RACIST TECHNIQUES FOR THE BEGINNING NEGRO FIELD RESEARCHER.
After revealing to the world my on-going anthropological work on the Africanus-American species in North America with my
“Black is Beautiful” Field Work Progress…” report, my email and phone has been going off the hook from wannabee researchers, all wishing to contribute to my studies. So I’ve decided to take you, the budding Primate Researcher, under my wing and pass along some stealth racist tips to help you on your way!

The most important tool that I always take with me into the field, is a small white box about 2.5″ x 2″ with holes on one side; which is a simple, but highly effective sound device not requiring any batteries and fits nicely in the palm of your hand. You can easily find them in any large pet store by looking for boxes of furry toys, some look like ducks, some like cats. Look for the monkey one and give it a squeeze — you’ll be able to feel a box buried inside and it’ll cost about $6 or $7 dollars."

How about this quote from the resident self ordained Negrologist?

"Everyone has had it happen before. You’re in a rush to get some cold beer and are going down some aisle in a grocery store when you find your way totally blocked by some giant, food-stamping Sheboon in stretch pants; all bent over and purposelessly spending an eternity on deciding what brand of beans to buy or something equally inane. And all you want to do is get past that massive set of Negress-buttocks blocking the entire dam aisle, before you get a disgusting eyeful of soiled underwear or find yourself exposed to her breaking foul wind in your direction.

Now, as a suitably equipped Negrologist, you can look at such situations as a valuable scientific opportunity!"

Mr. "Negrologist", you had better be thankful for the Internet. Sometimes, for the truly ignorant, I am sure anonymity can be a beautiful thing. Still, I am glad you are around, I hope you continue to post, and that your blog grows in popularity. To that end, I hope my link to your site helped.
Folks, feel free to go over to Mr. "Negrologist's" house and have a conversation with him. But remember, be nice, I have had some complaints about you field Negroes and your behavior when you go into other people's sites. They say you can be a bit....well, spirited.

Billie can you spare a dime?

I have found a new hero in these divided states of A-merry-ca. I have found someone who is truly worthy of Sainthood, and who we should put in our country's history books when the story of this period in our great history is written. My fellow A-merry-cans, let us all raise our glasses to Billie Watts, of Murfeesboro, Tennessee.

In case you haven't heard this story, let me give you the 411 real quick: It seems that Billie found $97K in the rest room of a "Cracker Barrel" restaurant. (Do they have banks down South?) And then, incredibly, she gave it back. Let me repeat that for you: SHE GAVE IT BACK!

Now, I understand that Billie is 75 years old, and maybe now that she is in the golden years of her life, money just doesn't mean quite as much to her. Hell maybe she is quite well off and doesn't need some extra spending money for this holiday season (Although if she is well off, I doubt that she would have been eating at a Cracker Barrel.) But damn it Billie, did you have to give ALL of it back? Couldn't you have slipped a few stacks of those $1,000 bills in your purse?

"Satan will tempt you. I have been having real bad teeth problems," said Billie Watts, 75. "I thought 'I'll get my teeth fixed.'" '

Ahh, that explains it, a church going lady. That darn satan will do the damnedest things to cause us to stray, won't he?

But anyway, I love the part where Billie actually took the money home, thought about it, and then called the restaurant to ask about their lost and found. Hello is this Cracker Barrel Restaurant? Yes mam, my name is Billie Watts, and I was there today and I found this wonderful tapestry bag with some pictures in it. Did someone report a missing tapestry bag? Oh they did? Wonderful! I have the bag right here with all their pictures.......oh no mam, nothing else, just some pictures.... I knew one thing when I read this story; Billie was NOT one of my cousins. No way. Shoot! Had she been one of my cousins (or me for that matter) the conversation would have gone just like I just wrote it. Hell times are hard out here. "Finders keepers".

And did you read about what happened next? The grateful owner of the money offered Billie $1,000 for her troubles. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS! Billie refused. Thanks but no thanks, just doing my civic duty, it just wouldn't feel right to take a reward for doing the right thing.....

From corrupt Governors in Illinois, to honest little old ladies in Tennessee. It's one of the things I love about A-merry-ca; you can always find some balance.

Senate seat going once, going twice.....

I had lunch at Maggiano's (a fine Italian restaurant here in my fair city) today, and I stuffed my face with some nice crisp chicken parmesan. Why? Because I got caught up in this Corruptgo hype and all the sleaziness going on in that city. And, for a brief moment, I thought that my Broad Street run would be safe. After all I thought, when the U.S. Attorney stopped digging into all the slime that surrounded Corruptgo politics, they would be sure to find a certain skinny black man with a Muslim name at the bottom of it all. You Negroes would have to start canceling those hotel rooms you booked in D.C. for the inauguration. At least that was the frame of mind I was in.

And can you blame me? I mean there was Jessie Jr. (Forget Donovan McNabb, this is the new #5 from Corruptgo) doing his best Richard Nixon I am not a crook imitation for the press. There was the screaming heads from the right, circling the waters and hoping for some Obama blood (Hell the guy is at a 75% approval rating right now, and he hasn't even taken office yet. You know that these folks are just itching to take him down by any means necessary ).There was the talking heads all over the cable news shows going on and on about the crooked Governor with the bad haircut. So if I had a momentary lapse in sanity please forgive me, for a minute there it just felt like the election season all over again.

But I have said this here before and I will repeat it: Barack Hussein Obama strikes me as an individual that is driven more by a need to be great than to be rich. So that, for now, seems to be his saving grace. Still, the guy is from Corruptgo, and to come through that sewer without even the smell of shit on him would be damn near impossible. I still think Antoin "Tony" Rezko might have some singing to do to the feds. I just don't know if the tune he sings will have some verses with the letter O in it.

"I reject and denounce pay to play politics and have no involvement whatsoever in any wrong doing,... I did not initiate or authorize anyone, at anytime, to promise anything to governor Blagojevich on my behalf. I never sent a message or an emissary to the governor to make an offer, or plea my case, or to propose a deal about a US Senate seat.." ~Jessie Jackson, Jr.~

I repeat: I did not lust after that actress Lark Voorhies.....

Book him Patrick.

*

I have to write something about this story, I just can't resist. It seems that "Serbian Obama" done went and got himself into some mess. He is called the "Serbian Obama" because according to one publication, like a certain chosen one, he is "young, handsome, and articulate". Well we can now add stupid to that list.

Let me get this straight: Governor Rod Blagojevich tried to sell Barack Husein Obama's senate seat to the highest bidder? And, to top it off, they caught this genius on tape like some old mob boss threatening people and trying to cut back room deals to the highest bidder. My god man have you no shame? Where do you think you live, Philly? I thought only our pols had corruption issues and liked to play phone tag with the feds? Seems I was wrong. Apparently they have a history down there in the land of Lincoln and in the "Windy City"as well. (Damn it, they won't let Philly be first in anything) Poor Rod, he just wanted to line his pockets and get rich like all the other greedy politicians. He heard about that $90,000.00 in "Dollar Bill's" refrigerator and he got jealous.

"I want to make money,"

Blago, you make $300,000.00 per year. Come on man, that ain't too bad. Why do you need more?

"If ... they're not going to offer anything of any value, then I might just take it" —

Naw, you wouldn't want that job Blago, not enough money for you. Although, I am sure you would go wild with all those lobbyist in Washington. Still, I have to wonder how a guy who knew the feds were on his butt like size seven jeans on J-Lo, would be on the damn phone of all places cutting deals. Hey Blago, there is a little thing called a wire tap, you might want to read up on it in the future...ahh never mind, you don't have a future.

And I love how his O ness distanced himself from this guy. I thought it was mighty strange that the governor of his home state didn't even get any speeches during the O man's campaign. O man your political instincts are starting to scare me. You are as smart as this guy was dumb. It's hard to believe that you both came up through the same machine.

U.S. Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald called Blago's behavior "appalling", he characterized Blago as a man who led a "corruption crime spree". Oh ohh. Those are tough words from the man who convicted Scooter. Mr. Blagojevich, if I were you, I would start planning a future without the creature comforts of home.

Oh well, here is hoping that Blago (Serbian Obama) enjoys his little time away. Hey, look at the bright side Governor, at the end of his term, maybe, just maybe, your home boy will give you a pardon.

*Thanks for the pic ArtMaggot.

We are in a recession: it might be cheaper to keep her.

Every now and then I need to get some help from you, my field Negro (and honorary field Negro) friends, about some issues that I struggle with.

Now I don't want to be too cryptic, but I write under certain constraints that I don't want to get into, so forgive me if I am not my usual forthcoming self with you.

Anyway, I have a hypothetical question for you folks:

Why is it that some men choose to leave their perfectly intact family, (or a child they fathered) and hook up with a new par amour who has children of her own, and then he treats those step children better than his own? But even worse; if there is an obligation to pay support to his biological children, where does he get the audacity to ask the court to reduce his support order because he has the added responsibility of a new family?

And another thing: why is it that non-custodial parents who are women refuse to pay child support? They could make a million dollars a year and you would have to bring them into support court kicking and screaming to take care of their obligations. One woman told me that she carried that child for nine months and felt the pain of bearing him, so she would be damned if she would give money to some man who got custody of their child for the sole purpose of not paying child support.

Oh, and brothers, just a thought here: Unless you have Will Smith type loot; It's hard to build wealth when you have three different child support payments coming out of your check. I don't care how much money you make, most state child support guidelines make support orders proportionate to your income. So you might want to think about that the next time you go wetting your whistle after peeking a big butt and a smile. It's not only your health you have to think about, it's your financial future as well.

But those were just some hypothetical situations, and I was just thinking out loud.

Stay away from corruption Mr. Cao.

There is hope for my peeps after all. Looks like they finally voted out that crook, Dollar Bill Jefferson. Yes my friends, you all know how I feel about corrupt politicians, so I was quite thrilled to hear of this bit of news. The fact that Anh "Joseph" Cao is a republican makes no difference to me. If he is going to do a better job of serving the 2nd congressional district of Louisiana, well then good for him.

It's nice to see black folks rejecting corruption and patronage. (Although I have to wonder why this clown was in the run off in the first place) Now granted, the turnout was low (12% among black people) and Cao only won by two percentage points, but I don't ever want to hear that black people just blindly vote for the black guy because he is black again. That has never been true, and now, hopefully, people will stop saying it. Cao is a Vietnamese immigrant, (the first Vietnamese American to go to Congress) and his election makes Louisiana the one state where the rethugs can brag about a bigger tent. Their Governor is an Indian American, and now their Congressman from the 2nd district is a person of color as well. Good for the "boot."

I just hope the rethugs are taking notes. The demographics of the country is changing, you should try to change with it. You should be reaching out to more aspiring politicians of color to carry your party's banner and deliver your message.

As for Jefferson, his three decades of political power and patronage is history. And apparently quite a few of his cronies were voted out of local offices as well. So it looks like lights out for Dollar Bill, and for all practical purposes, his political career is over.

It couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.

Mr. Cao, I don't know if you will be in Washington very long, and that might be a blessing for you. Look what Washington did to Bill Jefferson.

Bargain shopping.

I know the world is going to hell in a hand basket, and there is plenty of crap that I could be posting about. But sometimes the mind works in mysterious ways.

For instance, today I was out running around with Mrs. Field, and we just happened to pull into one of those strip malls that dot the A-merry-can landscape. The thing about strip malls is that if you play your cards right you can do damn near all of your shopping in one of those bad boys.

So anywho, there I was driving around the parking lot, looking for a parking space, when I spotted a sign that said, 89 CENT STORE. Yes, I said an 89 CENT STORE. Now I have no problem with bargains, and I love the fact that you can walk into a store and pretty much know the price of every damn thing in the place. And I am not going to front; I have been known to hit the Dollar store a time or two. You can get some well needed household necessities in the Dollar Store, so don't act like it's only me. But when is enough enough? I mean when I first saw a $5 or less store I thought it was kind of cool. At the time there were tons of stuff you could stock it with that cost $5 or less. Then I saw the $1 store, and I thought to myself that there was no way that they could pull it off. How could you stock an entire store with shit that cost $1 or less? But stock they did, and apparently it worked. How else do you explain the proliferation of $1 stores all over the damn place.

But an 89 CENT STORE? Come on now, again I say: where does it end? I mean I know times are hard but how much shit can you find for eighty nine cents? And it's not a lie, they mean that shit. Everything in the damn store is eighty nine cents or less. I know there are stores with Dollar in the title (down South they have a ton of them) such as "Dollar General", "Family Dollar", " and Dollar Plus". But there are lots of different prices in those stores. Believe me, my mother in law, bless her heart, does damn near all of her shopping in one such store down in South Louisiana. But to guarantee that nothing in your store will be over eighty nine cents? Wow! Could a FIFTY CENTS OR LESS store be far behind?

But hey, times are hard, cities are printing their own money now. So pretty soon they might have stores where we can just go in and barter shit. THE YOU TELL US YOUR PRICE STORE. Hell the shopping experience couldn't be any worse than it is at Wal Mart. I think I might be on to something.
