Obamacare lives. (For now)

Image result for health insurance marketplace obamacare imagesIt looks like the supremes upheld the most important portions of the ACA today, and that's a big win for this president.

Now, as is to be expected, the right wingers are losing their collective minds.

"an act of judicial activism" from the Supreme Court designed to "protect the Affordable Care Act." ~Karl Rove~

"With today's Obamacare decision, John Roberts confirms that he has completely jettisoned all pretense of textualism. He is a results-oriented judge, period, ruling on big cases based on what he thinks the policy result should be or what the political stakes are for the court itself. He is a disgrace. That is all." ~National Review~

"[Roberts] will undermine his own credibility as a fair-minded jurist, because he has reached to bizarre and odd contortions in order to save this statute twice." ~Andrew Napolitano, Fox News~

"an absolute disaster" and wondered "what does [this] mean for the rule of law?" ~Rush Limbaugh ~

"I braced for this decision by SCOTUS still shocked....folks country has fundamentally changed...another giant step toward Banana Republic" ~Fox's Charles Payne~

And on and on it goes.

It seems like only yesterday that Chief Justice Roberts was a darling of the right wing. But this just goes to show you how dangerous it is to throw all of your eggs in one basket when it comes to politics.

Of course this decision will never cause me to change my mind about Chief Justice Roberts. That Citizens United decision will forever tarnish him and his legacy in my book.

"I am disappointed in the Burwell decision, but this is not the end of the fight against ObamaCare "

Jeb, I am sure you are.

"Five years ago, after nearly a century of talk, decades of trying, a year of bipartisan debate," the law is finally and firmly entrenched, Obama said, .....Health care, he said is "not a privileged for a few, but a right for all.".... The setbacks I remember clearly." However, "as the dust has settled, there can be no doubt that this law is working."

Show off.

Is Scott Walker going to Washington or to jail ?

I guess republicans can strike another potential opponent to Hillary Clinton off the list.

It seems like some slick stuff has been going on up in cheese country.

"Documents unsealed by a federal judge Thursday revealed prosecutors’ allegations against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R), whom they called the center of a “criminal scheme” to coordinate funds during the 2011-12 recall elections.

Prosecutors accuse Walker and two deputies, R.J. Johnson and Deborah Jordahl, of circumventing election law by machinating fundraising efforts among various GOP candidates and conservative groups. The apparent smoking gun is an email from Walker to Republican strategist Karl Rove outlining the coordination and naming Johnson, also chief adviser to Wisconsin Club for Growth, as the conductor.

The documents were unsealed due to a lawsuit by the Club for Growth, which has temporarily halted the investigation." [Source]

There is that Karl Rove guy again. ("Romney by a landslide") He is hurting more than helping candidates at this point.

But Walker has no one to blame but himself for his latest issues. Like his larger than life cohort and political soul-mate in New Jersey, Scott Walker started to read and believe all those flattering press clippings about Scott Walker.

Still, as is to be expected, the Governor is blaming his problems on others.

"Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker responded on Twitter earlier tonight about prosecutors’ allegations over his involvement in a “criminal scheme” to coordinate fundraising efforts.

Walker dismissed it as a partisan witch hunt and cites rulings from two judges that have already vindicated his innocence.

Here’s what Walker had to say on Twitter:

✔ @ScottWalker
The accusation of any wrongdoing written in the complaint by the office of a partisan Dem DA by me or by my campaign is categorically false.

Ted's World.

I believe that this Ted Cruz dude is off the republican reservation. He has been making a lot of noise about Obamacare these days and dividing his party while doing it. It's gotten so bad that they sent the republican news corporation opposition research on him before he appeared with republican spokesperson, Chris Wallace.

"Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace said Sunday morning that he’d received opposition research from other Republicans about Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) in advance of Cruz’s appearance this morning, a serious indication of how upset the GOP is with the Senator leading the risky charge to defund ObamaCare.

“This has been one of the strangest weeks I’ve ever had in Washington,” Wallace said. “As soon as we listed Ted Cruz as our featured guest this week, I got unsolicited research and questions, not from Democrats but from top Republicans, to hammer Cruz.”

“This was a strategy laid out by Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz without any consultation with their colleagues,” said Karl Rove. “With all due respect to my junior Senator from Texas, I suspect this is the first time that the end game was described to any Republican Senator. They had to tune in to listen to you to find out what Ted’s next step was in the strategy.”

“You cannot build a Congressional majority, in either party, for any kind of action, unless you are treating your colleagues with some certain amount of respect, and saying, ‘Hey, what do you think of my idea?’” Rove said. “Instead they have dictated to their colleagues through the media, and through public statements, and not consulted them about this strategy at all.”

Rove also corrected Cruz’s interpretation of a Wall Street Journal as giving the GOP the advantage on whom Americans trust on health care. “I wish that were true,” Rove said, pointing out that Democrats still held the advantage, but were at an historically low number." [Source]

A government shut down is looming, so I really hope that you republicans can get yourselves together soon. This is not a time for dysfunction among members of the same political party.

Finally, the leader of the NRA is at it again. Wayne LaPierre is calling for armed guards and more guns after another mass shooting in America. That's kind of like calling for an open bar at an alcoholic anonymous meeting.

Of course we know that what the NRA leader is calling for does not work.

Read what Mark Follman has to stay with his excellent article on the subject.

"In the wake of the unthinkable massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, pro-gun ideologues are once again calling for ordinary citizens to arm themselves as a solution to mass shootings. If only the principal at Sandy Hook Elementary School had possessed a M-4 assault rifle she could've stopped the killer, they say. This latest twist on a long-running argument isn't just absurd on its face; there is no evidence to support it. As I reported recently in our in-depth investigation, not one of 62 mass shootings in the United States over the last 30 years has been stopped this way. More broadly, attempts by armed civilians to intervene in shooting rampages are rare—and are successful even more rarely. (Two people who tried it in recent years were gravely wounded or killed.) And law enforcement overwhelmingly hates the idea of armed citizens getting involved.

Those pesky facts haven't stopped the "arm America more!" crowd from pressing the argument with alleged examples of successful armed interventions. The problem is, the few examples they keep using—in which they depict plain old folks acting heroically and with definitive results—fall apart under scrutiny. Here are five cases commonly cited and why they don't work: [Read more here]

Follman goes on to outline incident after incident where what the NRA is suggesting did not work and where it actually had disastrous effect on the situation.

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,"

Wrong Wayne, the only thing that can stop "a bad guy with a gun" is silencing a bad organization which supports his right to own a gun.

Better candidates or a better message?

I thought that republicans didn't believe in racial politics.

Karl Rove is telling republicans that they need to diversify their candidates for political offices around the country. Apparently, in his world, it's not the message that matters but who is delivering it. Karl, once again, is way off base.

It's the message not the messenger. If you don't believe me ask Mr. 999, and folks like Alan Keyes. Both are very black, and both are very republican, but both men are big time losers among minority voters because they are wrong on the issues.

If republicans ran Casper the Friendly Ghost in a 100% black district, and he ran on issues that they think would benefit them, Casper would beat the dumbocratic candidate every time.

The same goes for Hispanics. As long as the republican party is made up of aging old white xenophobes, the Hispanic vote will continue to elude them.
Mr. Rove can change who delivers the message, but he can't change who they are delivering the message to.

"He also said the party must recruit candidates who reflect the diversity of the country, and in particular, California. By next year, Hispanics will overtake whites as the state's largest demographic group.

"We need to be asking for votes in the most powerful way possible, which is to have people asking for the vote who are comfortable and look like and sound like the people that we're asking for the vote from," Rove said."

"The people who look like and sound like the people we are asking the vote from"? And here I thought that we were just all Americans who did not see race or the physical differences among each other.

Finally, I am heading down to D.C. week after next for CPAC and I am looking for a nice conservative family to crash with. If any of you wingnut troll happens to know someone please holla at your boy. I would take my Jersey neighbor, Gov. Krispy Kreme with me, but I heard that he is not welcome in the party anymore.

This, of course, is not sitting well with some of his fellow republicans.

“That’s a suicidal death wish,” King replied curtly. “CPAC, to me, loses all credibility. You have a governor who is conservative, he’s balanced a budget, he’s taken on public employee unions, he’s pro-life, and yet he has a 74 percent favorable rating in a Democratic blue state.”

“So, here’s a person who has shown that blue collar conservatism works,” King continued. “That it appeals to working men and women – that it appeals to women – and these are the areas we’ve been suffering.”

King said that Christie was not invited to CPAC because he fought for aid to areas hit by Hurricane Sandy. “To me, that writes off CPAC,” King said. [Source]

Mr. Christie, please call Karl Rove; he needs you as exhibit A.

Cool??

The latest Karl Rove Super Pac ad. (Why is this guy still around?) attacks his Oness for being too cool. In the ad. O is portrayed as an empty headed celebrity who got elected because of the cool factor. Not!

If you ask me this is just more dog whistles from the old white man crowd. (Barry White? Are you serious?)

So anyway, I was thinking about this whole cool thing. I mean it is all so subjective. Who determines what truly makes a person cool?

While contemplating that question, I made a list of some people (living and dead) who made my cool list. Hey, I am Jamaican, I know about this stuff.

They are not in any particular order, and I am not going to explain why each person qualifies. O isn't on the list, because in spite of what wingnuts would have you believe, a politician just can't be cool.

Here goes-

1.  Tony Bennett

2.  James Baldwin

3.  Maya Angelou

4.  Miles Davis

5.  Willie Nelson

6.  Nelson Mandela

7.  Angela Davis

8.  Bunny Wailer

9.  Robert De Niro

10. Denzel Washington

11. Andy Warhol

12. Grace Kelly

13. Sean Connery

14. Curt Flood

15. John Coltrane

16. Condy Rice

17. David Beckham

18. Che Guevera

19. Gregory Isaacs

20. Muhammad Ali

21. Christopher Walken

22. The Edge

23. Ringo Starr

24. Toni Morrison

25. Bruce Lee

26. Steve McQueen

27. Frank Sinatra

28. Paul Newman

29. MLK

30. Johnny Cash

31. Althea Gibson

32. Al Kaline

33. Bob Gibson

34. Judy Mowatt

35. Beverly Johnson

36. Oscar Wilde

"Smokin Joe"

“I challenge the Chamber of Commerce to tell us how much of the money they’re investing is from foreign sources,” he said. “I challenge them. If I’m wrong, I will stand corrected. But show me, show me. Folks, they’re trying to buy this election to go back to exactly what they did before. Watch what happens in the next two and a half weeks, what happens here, because Chris is in a tight race and moving ahead.”

That was Joe Biden, the Vice President of these divided states, and the only dumbocrat in A-merry-can politics that seems to have some (rhymes will malls) these days.

"Zero. As in, 'Not a single cent,'" wrote Tom Collamore, senior vice president of Communications and Strategy from the Chamber of Commerce in an e-mail with "And the Answer Is ..." as its subject line..."We accept the vice president's challenge here and now, and are happy to provide our answer," Collamore added, in response to Biden's harsh indictments of the Chamber rendered at a fundraiser earlier Monday in his hometown of Scranton, Pa."

My answer to Mr. Collamore would be this: Prove it!

You see, I could write a post about swinging an ep. with Lark Voorhies back in the day but that wouldn't necessarily make it true. Some pictures of Lark and I together would have to go along with that post, as well as some witnesses who actually saw us together. Me saying it's so doesn't make it so. And Mr. Collamore saying that the Chamber and their republican friends didn't solicit foreign money to fund their right wing agenda doesn't cut it. Mr. Collamore, like Karl Rove has a disturbingly vulpine air about him that says shower after meeting.

But I want to be fair. So I am waiting to see if the Chamber and Karl Rove gives me something more concrete. Something like this. Because the folks making the claim has given me a little more than just denials. The ball is in the Chamber's court now.

Hi beauty queen

(sorry Monica), it's me again. I caught your stand up routine last night. Funny! For a minute there I swore I was watching Def Comedy Jam. You were rocking the house girl. You had them at hello. I loved your hype man, Rudy, too. (Is it me, or is that guy getting more deranged with each passing day?) He had the house rocking; he threw lots of red meat for your redneck friends, and they were loving every minute of it.

BTW, I hear that Karl Rove's people wrote your lines for you, must be nice.

But hey, I have some other lines you might want to throw into your next routine.

Check em out:

"Palin recently said that the war in Iraq is 'God's task.' She's even admitted she hasn't thought about the war much—just last year she was quoted saying, "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq."

Palin has actively sought the support of the fringe Alaska Independence Party. Six months ago, Palin told members of the group—who advocate for a vote on secession from the union—to "keep up the good work" and "wished the party luck on what she called its 'inspiring convention.'"

Palin wants to teach creationism in public schools. She hasn't made clear whether she thinks evolution is a fact.

Palin doesn't believe that humans contribute to global warming. Speaking about climate change, she said, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man made."
Palin has close ties to Big Oil. Her inauguration was even sponsored by BP.

Palin is extremely anti-choice. She doesn't even support abortion in the case of rape or incest.
Palin opposes comprehensive sex-ed in public schools. She's said she will only support abstinence-only approaches.

As mayor, Palin tried to ban books from the library. Palin asked the library how she might go about banning books because some had inappropriate language in them—shocking the librarian, Mary Ellen Baker. According to Time, 'news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving 'full support" to the mayor.'

She DID support the Bridge to Nowhere (before she opposed it). Palin claimed that she said 'thanks, but no thanks' to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. But in 2006, Palin supported the project repeatedly, saying that Alaska should take advantage of earmarks 'while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist."'

Now that's some funny shit. That should have every A-merry-can rolling in their seats.

When you lock him up, please throw away the key.

I just got my latest issue of GQ Magazine (yes I read GQ) and a note from the Letter to the Editor section reminded me why I despised the frat boy and his little munchkin of a crony so much.

The following is a letter the House Judiciary Committee sent the latest criminal from the Bush White House on April 17th.

"Dear Mr. Rove:

We write seeking your appearance before the House Judiciary Committee to testify concerning the troubling issue of the politicization of the Department of Justice during this Administration, including allegations regarding the prosecution of former Governor of Alabama Dan Siegelman....In a recent interview with GQ Magazine you respond by describing Ms. Simpson [Republican Attorney Dana Jill Simpson who accused Rove of sabotaging the reelection of Alabama Democratic Governor, Don Siegelman, by coercing U.S. Attorneys to charge him with corruption.] as a "complete lunatic" and asserting that she never mentioned your name during the deposition that she submitted to the Committee staff. In fact, Ms. Simpson actually referenced you several times at deposition. In any event, particularly since you have briefly commented on this matter in GQ and while serving as a commentator on FOX NEWS, we believe the subject, like other serious charges regarding the role of politics at the Department of Justice should be addressed before a key investigating Committee of Congress.

Thank you in advance for your prompt cooperation. "

Yeah I know Karl, executive privilege. Right?

See, this is what frustrates me about A-merry-ca. That this poor excuse for a human being can take away a man's freedom, destroy his political career, and still be allowed to make millions of dollars doing speaking engagements and acting (and I do mean acting) as a commentator on FOX NOISE.

Oh, and since we are talking about Rove. Let's talk about his classless boss and that little stunt he pulled over in Israel today. Playing politics on foreign soil while representing our country and while celebrating the 60th anniversary of one of the world's great democracies. That is reprehensible behavior as far as I am concerned. Wow, way to go frat boy, you have really outdone yourself this time.

But hey, I guess it's true what they say about "birds of a feather".

If you think I am "shadowboxing" step into the ring.

Here I am trying to enjoy my holiday season with family and friends. And then, for some reason, (lord only knows why) I log on the Internet to see what's jumping off on the web.

This of course is when I see this: An open attack and challenge to the field from one of my black re-puke-lican friends.

Poor cobb, he loves and embraces the conservative movement, but the feelings aren't mutual. He and those of his ilk have chosen sides, and they can't turn back now. They are stuck with the conservative movement for better or for worse. Unfortunately for cobb and his friends, when it comes to black folks,it has been for the worse. He just can't admit to himself that there are nefarious forces in his party working to keep us out, and who would use the race- card and other wedge issues to stay in power.

No wonder the black conservative is always so angry and so shrill. He has declared his allegiance and he can't go back now. So instead, he tries to create illusions and straw- man arguments to justify his erroneous and misguided beliefs. He refuses to face the reality of Nixon and his Southern Strategy; Ronald Reagan, and his Philadelphia Mississippi, moment. George Bush, 41 and his Willie Horton moment. The racist original puppet master, Lee Atwater .(may his miserable soul rot in hell) The new school racist, puppet master, Karl Rove. The racist speaker of the house, Newt Gingrich. The racist "commander the thief", George Bush, 43, who made sure that his "Southern strategy" of embracing Bob Jones was fully in place when he ran. And of course, we can fast forward to the current crop of re-puke-lican candidates for the highest office in the land. They have even expanded their "Southern Strategy" farther south. (Think Mexico, and their Paul Revere style cries that the brown people are coming) Yes cobb, there are plenty of those and more where they came from. But time doesn't permit me to get into it here as much as I would like, because I still have to enjoy my vacation.

Sorry cobb, your straw man argument about a bunch of irrelevant conservative bloggers who are high on a phony ass food chain is just ludicrous. -As if they would actually come out on their blogs and endorse a perceived racist strategy by their party- They would never openly admit to such a strategy. And you and I both know that. Do you think it's an accident that everyone associates the "Southern Strategy" with your party?

At the end of the day cobb, I feel sorry for you. You attack my site and the people that post here by calling them a bunch of "synchophants" (that's a big word, maybe woozie can interpret it for me). Yet we have nothing but love for you, because even though you don't, we still consider you one of us. Don't blame me or the people who come to the fields because you cannot juxtapose your political beliefs with the racist history and the political reality of the party you embrace. That's not their fault. You should be working within your party to try and change it, you should be using your considerable writing talents to enlighten them and make them understand your race and your people. You should not be making excuses for them and attack the people of your race for not embracing them. "Shadowboxing"? If you think I am shadowboxing always feel free to step into the ring with me. And as for being a "blight to the spirit of the blogosphere"; my question to you would be what spirit? Over here our spirits are fine, because in spite of the victimology tag, we know where we stand politically and socially in A-mery-ca. Unlike you, our conscience is free.

Anyway cobb, I hope I could help to enlighten you , and that I answered some of the questions in your challenge. Hopefully this will better help you to understand what us black folks think of your party, and why we feel--and more importantly vote-- the way that we do.

BTW, you can send the $20 you owe me to the Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles. I don't need the money.

Musings From My Barber's Chair.

It's Friday evening and I am in my barber's chair. I am listening to the barber shop chatter, enjoying the nice cool feel of shaving cream on my dome, and as is usually the case; my thoughts turn to a few things:

Like right now I am thinking about an excellent piece that was forwarded to me by Mario Ruiz over at the Hufington Post, about an article written by John Ridley. John found out first hand that the Republican "big tent" ain't so big after all.

And while thinking about John's article, my thoughts run to those ten white men who were on that stage last night, and how out of touched the Republican party seems to be with the rest of the country. Not for how they looked (although that gave me cause for pause)but for what they said.

I am thinking that the idiot who has been posting here lately with the web site satirising African American criminals, is probably some loser holed up in his mother's basement who can't get a date, and probably has a picture of his fist in his wallet.

I am thinking of Jared Roebuck over at Lies Before Breakfast and how he did the Afro Spear proud by getting some ink in the Washington Post.

I am thinking about that old Eddie Murphy joke (although there is nothing funny about this situation) when I hear that Barack Obama has to have secret service protection already. They won't talk about it, but apparently Obama has been receiving lots and lots of threats promising harm to him and his family. Now I am sure most of it is coming from the likes of my trailer park friends, but all it takes is one; so you can't be too careful.

I am thinking gas is over $3 a gallon again right in time for the summer. I wonder what excuse the oil companies will give for raising prices this time.

I am thinking about all the shit still happening in Darfur, and places like the Congo, and how black folks in this country are apathetic about their plight. Millions of people who look just like they do are being killed or driven into refugee camps. I mean do you really think that if kids were dying by the thousands in Australia and Norway white folks wouldn't move mountains to save them? The sad irony is, that some of the strongest people out here advocating for the poor people of Darfur are white, and most black folks are just sitting on their asses like it's all happening in a f*****g movie.

I am thinking about that madam down in D.C. with the little black book. How much do you want to bet that 80% of the people in her book, are God fearing conservative republicans.

I am thinking about my brother in law who is still f****d up after doing a tour in Iraq. The VA isn't really helping by keeping him hopped up on pills and sticking all kinds of pain killers in his face without even asking. And these mother f*****s over at the VA are getting bonuses while the troops are given the most shitty treatment one can imagine after they return home.

I am wondering; why is Karl Rove's crooked ass not in jail? And why haven't we heard anything more from Dick Cheney's so called friend who he shot in the face?

I am thinking George Tenet should just go away. You sat on your ass while the frat boy and his minions plotted this war. And now you want to talk about how misguided they were after you sign a 4 million dollar book deal? Well too late for over 3,200 poor young Americans. So please go f**k yourself!

I am looking at my dome and it looks pretty good. Thank you Mr. Barber, I will catch you next time.

When all else fails, just sing & dance with some black folks

Quick, what do all these people have in common? I. Lewis Libby, J. Stven Girles,David H. Safavian,Roger Stillwell, Claude Allen, and Darleen Druyun. If you guessed former Bush appointees who have been convicted (yes convicted) of a crime, move to the head of the class.

And let's not forget all the Bush officials who are currently under a cloud of suspicion. People like Alberto Gonzalez-we all know about his current problems-Paul Wolfowitz, President of the World Bank, who helped a certain lady he was getting his freak on with get a high paying job there. Then there is Karl Rove, and his potential violation of the Hatch Act, by carrying on his sick partisan politics with the people's equipment. And to think, Republicans used to call Clinton corrupt. Oh, and did I mention the Pentagon's cover up of the Pat Tillman killing, or the way they lied about Jessica Lynch in order to put a white heroines face on the war? "I think that he feels deeply sorry for the family and all that they've gone through...and he hopes that people are held accountable." Yeah right, where have we heard that before?

And this Tillman thing is really troubling. According to the frat boy, he did not learn of the circumstances surrounding Tillman's death until after the May 3, 2004 memorial service for Tillman. (Tillman died on April 22,2004) The frat boy's press secretary, Dana Perino, says that she is not sure whether the frat boy learned about how Tillman died from the press or the Pentagon. (How come this white house can never remember shit?) Mmmmm, didn't a top general send a memo just seven days after Tillman died saying that it was "highly possible" that Tillman was killed by friendly fire? And didn't the the good general say that his warning should be sent to Bush? Now you must ask yourself; did the frat boy get the warning before his speech in late April of that same year, or did he get it after,as he is alleging? Well, given the frat boy's record with the truth, you would be a whole lot safer betting on the fact that he knew.

So it's been a rough patch for the frat boy, and the latest Wall Street Journal polls bare that out. So what's a President to do? Well you could find some African drummers and bust a move on the White House lawn. Yeah I saw you George, you were alright up there shaking your "money maker". Laura was a little stiff though; but hey, you actually had some rhythm. Somehow I was feeling you a lot more than your side kick, Karl Rove. Homeboy just looked down right pathetic when he tried to do that whole rap thing. It came off as condescending and contrived. And the house Negro dancing behind him didn't help. I guess Karl just doesn't know how to do that hug and dance with a black person thing like you do George. Oh I saw you George; when you went down to the Gulf Coast after Katrina, you made sure you were hugging some black folks; you always do. I swear your handlers sure know how to find the black people in the crowd. What do you do when you go to a NASCAR event? "Did you see any, any blacks at all. We need one for photo op. Well I saw one on the way in Sir. Well go get him man, the event is almost over." You must love when those sports champions visit you at the White House. Lots of blacks to hug, hold, and do a little cheesing with. Nothing like a little cheesing with the black folks to make you more sympathetic huh George. They really taught you well in Texas, cause you sure know how to get along with black folks when you have to.

But good for you, I am sure that's a skill that is coming in handy right about now. Heck, given the way things have been going for you lately, I bet you are one white man who is glad black folks are here to sing and dance with.

Some chickens are finally coming home...

"I don't know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action."

Well frat boy, thank God it wasn't left to you to take appropriate action. That job was left to a an independent federal prosecutor. My dear mama used to say; that "if you lay down with dogs you will wake up with fleas" Scooter, I think you found you a serious dog pound by way of the White House to lay down in my man, and you have to live with that. I hear your wife was crying in the court room when the verdict was read, and I feel for her. But you know what, over 3,100 wives and mothers have been crying over the past few years thanks to this immoral and illegal war. And not because their sons will have to do some time in club fed, or pay a million dollars worth of fines, but because they will never come back. So you get no pity from the field. You were supposed to be serving the American people, but you lied to protect that evil SOB who moonlights as our Vice President. Mr Libby was the highest ranking White House official to be convicted since the eighties when that cowboy from California was pardoning the criminals involved with the Iran Contra scandal.

So let's think for a minute how we got here in the first place. When the frat boy gave that now infamous speech in Cincinnati about that imminent threat coming from Iraq, it was a lie, and it was based on doctored reports. There was a little secret cabal in the White House called the White House Iraq Group (WHIG) plotting all along to deceive all of us, the American people. And when Joe Wilson took his now famous trip to my homeland (Niger) and discovered that no yellow cake uranium was sold to the Iraqis, it sent the WHIG into a frenzy. Then when Mr. Wilson came home and went public with an oped in the...gasp, New York Times, they set out to destroy the messenger. This was classic Bush, after destroying his wife's 20 year career in the CIA, and blowing a CIA front, they set out to lie to the American people about what their real motives were.

My friends, let's be clear here, the person who should have been facing conviction today should have been dead eye Dick himself, and that little lying weasel Karl Rove. That would have brought me pure joy. Scooter was a fall guy, and Stevie Wonder can see it. But somebody had to go down, and who knows, maybe he will do like one of the dream girls and start singing. (Hey, a man can dream can't he) Unfortunately, he most likely won't, because I am sure that a pardon has already been promised, or at least it better had be, or that Scooter book will be a best seller.

I have been reading some republican blogs where they are already blaming the jury. (insert OJ jury references here) They were biased, the trial shouldn't have been in D.C. where there is a 90% democratic registration, they weren't smart enough to understand the law, blah blah blah. All I can say is that I am proud of these people that sat on the jury, someone had to punish this f****g administration. And Patrick Fitzgerald did a great job in his closing arguments by making this trial about the Bush administration, which it was. And the jurors did their job and made sure that justice was served. In the end, they didn't believe the sometimes my memory is bad defense, (speaking of defense; Scooter, a little word of advise, the next time you are faced with these types of charges, you might want to save your money. Dropping $800 an hour on the Holy Cross classmate of Uncle Clarence Thomas, Ted Wells, and still getting convicted on four out of five charges ain't gonna cut it) and like everyone else in the country, they realized what a bunch of evil lying snakes inhabit the White House, and what a pernicious effect they have had on our democracy.

So good luck Scooter, I hope your boy stands by you... whoops, that's right, he can't stand, he has a blood clot in his leg. "Oh field you are so mean." Yeah, and over 3,100 American are so dead.

I'm out.

DREAM OF FIELDS

Well folks it's been a very hard work day once again in the fields. The work week is just starting, and the field negro is feeling a bit tired already. I think I am going to catch a little shut eye before massa puts me to work again. Ahhh, I see a nice cool out of the way spot right over here. I think I will just kick off my shoes and take a little nap. Yesss, this feels great, nothing like a little rest at the of the da... ZZzzzzzzzzz Zzzzzzzz

"Field! Wake up honey, you have to get the kids off to school." Oh hi Lark, I am sorry honey I must have dozed off. Are the kids ready? "They sure are field, and I signed Field Juniors homework card because he did all his homework last night. He even used that new online dictionary, Negropedia, for some of his resources." Well good for him, I sure like this public school system we have little field in, he is making straight A's and learning so much in school. "I know field, and how about the wonderful diverse play mates he brings home to play with. This must have been what Martin Luther King was talking about in his speech. 'Little white kids and black kids getting along together so well'."Rrrrrrring rrring."Field, it's for you honey." Thanks dear. Hello? Yes, this is the field, I did? Well that's great news, thank you again Bob. So let me get this straight: All I have to do is come to the bank and sign the agreement and I can get the start up money for my new business? No; THANK YOU Bob. Honey did you hear that? I was approved by the bank for that $50,000 loan to start our little business. They said they liked my plan so much that they just couldn't pass it up. No credit check or anything. This calls for a celebration. Honey do we still have some of that steak in the refrigerator that our neighbors, the O'Malley's, brought us when we moved in? I think I will cook that bad boy tonight. Come on kids, jump in the car, daddy will take you to school today. I get tired of the poor school bus driver having to wait for you guys. Let's see what's on the radio while we drive: And in the news today, President Bush admitted he was wrong about the Iraq war, and has called for immediate withdrawal of American troops. Also, many of those same troops will be deployed to Darfur to join other American troops who are already on the ground there helping to root out the Sudanese government and protecting the refugees on the ground. Also in the news today, FOX NEWS CHANNEL is reporting some negative news about the Bush administration and the republicans in congress, as well as the deplorable conditions at Walter Reed Army Hospital. And on the local front, good news again this weekend, because for the third weekend in a row there were no murders here in Philadelphia. The Police Chief is crediting good police work, stricter gun laws, and money being sent from Washington to fund after school athletic programs which are keeping allot of young men off the streets and involved with various activities. OK kids you are here. Have a good day at school, and say hello to your math teacher, Mr. Johnson, for me. OK let's see now I have to get some gas, my tank is almost on half. I will just get it here at this AMERICAN OIL gas station, but the gas is so high here-$1 a gallon-but that's alright, I will support America and buy American. I gotta get a paper too, I want to read about Condi Rice, Karl Rove, and Dick Cheyney resigning. And maybe I will run by the grocery store and pick up some wine to celebrate getting that loan. Honey I am home! "Hi sweetie, did the kids make it off alright? "They sure did honey, and now I have to get ready for work. Lark don't you ever miss Hollywood and being Lark Voorhies? "No honey, of course not, I am content just being Mrs. Field Negro." Wow I am the luckiest guy on earth. "And honey." Yes Lark. "Don't forget you have that citizens forum tonight with the mayor, our congressmen, and our senators. Remember how you enjoyed the last one?" Yeah, I sure do, I think it's so nice of them to meet with the citizens at least twice a year to get some ideas from us."Alright honey I am going to take a shower now." Do you want some company? After all, I don't have to go to work. "Oh field, you are so romantic" Now that's what I am talking about...

FIELD, FIELD! Wake your ass up! I caught you sleeping on the job again! No massa, I was just relaxing a little, and thinking about my chores. ~~ Oh well, that was a nice dream while it lasted. I knew all that sh*t was too good to be true. Now I guess it's back to reality, and the real America~~~

**On a more serious note: I would like to give a big hat tip to my man, The Angry Independent, for turning me on to the story of Army Private Lavena Johnson. Folks, if you have been inundated with news about Brittany's bald ass head, and Anna Nicole's fast decaying body, you probably have not heard the tragic story of this brave young soldier; who sadly, was killed in Iraq recently. The Army calls it a suicide, her family says otherwise. Check out my man Angry Independent's site and decide for yourself. Believe me folks, if we don't, no one else will.

I'm out.

Musing From My Barber's Chair

Ahhh, the end of another week. Time for the field to get his dome shaved, and chill while his barber does his thing. As usual, while sitting in the barber chair, the field starts to think about life and some current events in the field's world.

As it turns out, a congressman I mentioned in my previous post is being probed by the FBI. According to my home town paper, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Mr. Curt Weldon (R., Pa.) helped his daughter, a DC consultant,-fancy word for someone who pockets money thanks to daddy's influence without actually doing any work- land a fat contract from two Russian energy companies. Oh, and by the way, the contract was worth $1 million in American dollars. "My kids are allowed to seek employment" Yes they are Mr. Weldon, and I am sure when daddy can help arrange some million dollar arm twisting it doesn't hurt.

And while I am thinking of allegedly corrupt people in congress. I see where Robert Ney, a six term republican congressman from Ohio owned up to his crimes of conspiracy and making false statements. Of course, his real crime was greed, and lust and hunger for power, wealth, and influence. It's the same pathology that Tom De Lay, -in the fields humble opinion, one of the worse human beings ever to grace our planet- and the other republicans in congress seem to be carrying around in their insulated world of power lunches and K street decadence.

Now of course, comes the expected hypocrisy from the other usual suspects. Speaker of the house, Dennis "Hunch Back" of Illinois Hastert (R., Ill.)- who is in some hot water himself due to a little e-mail scandal floating around DC these days-along with Tony Snowjob, has called for Ney to resign. Oh yes folks, he is still a congressman, and has been since September when he signed papers agreeing to plead guilty. And Ohio Republican Party Chairman, Bob Bennett, called Ney "a cancer in the Congress." Yeah right, I bet you weren't saying that when you and the rest of your fellow cronies from the Buckeye state were being feted by the good congressman. But such is politics, the moment you are exposed, your so called friends will turn on you in a "New York minute". -Where is Huey Long when you need him?-

Oh and don't think I am letting the dems off either. I have always thought there was a certain sleaze factor with Harry Reid of Nevada. And this recent land deal that he is involved with just kind of confirms my suspicion. Mr. Reid, you might want to heed that old expression, "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" And my friend Bill "cold cash" Jefferson is just a flat out disgrace to his people and the state of Louisiana. I am glad to see my man Skepitcal brotha blogging about this, and I know as soon as something new pops off, my favorite Louisiana blog, wesawthat will be on the case as well.

Mmmm let's see what else? Oh, I see the Russians and the Chinese told the U.N. and our friend Condi to go f%&* themselves when it comes to North Korea. Just like I told you they would folks. You see Condi, these six party talks with North Korea that you insist on, just ain't gonna work. Because as long as Russia and China has such a huge stake in North Korea's economy doing well, -and in the case of China, keeping those North Korean refugees out once those harsh U.N. sanctions kick in- the United States will never be able to broker a serious resolution that punishes Kim Jong Crazy and the crew. "I am still ready to go for a vote,... I thought we had agreed.." Ahhh sorry Mr. Bolton, you thought wrong. Now go back to frat boy, your fearless leader, and the bad perm lady, and tell them to get their head out of their asses, and start initiating bilateral talks with the land of no lights.

I was just thinking; something else is eating away at me about this Foley mess. I saw some news reports where Foley contacted frat boy's brother, the Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush. And told him-Jeb- that the White House was giving him the cold shoulder. Now folks, this was in 2004 or around that time, and I am starting to think that the White House and frat boy, knew about this creepy guy all along. It makes sense, if the WH knew about him so did all the other republicans-and dems for that matter- on the hill. This would explain why no serious action to curb his behavior. Whenever there was a complaint, it was like, tell me something I don't know.

Oh, and speaking of the WH, did you hear about the new book by David Kuo, called "Tempting Faith"? Well according to the book, the little weasel Karl Rove, made it a habit to make fun of evangelical Christians in private; but, along with his lieutenants, put on a different face in public to keep the powerful values voters in check. So a show of hands please from those of us who are surprised..........no hands huh, that's what I thought. What a slime ball, politics trumps everything with these people: Religion, death, patriotism; you name it.

On a local note, 314 murders and counting here in "Killadelphia", one local barber-not the fields of course-was popped for selling automatic weapons to undercover federal agents. Hey, if you don't have a criminal record and you want to make a killing-how is that for a play on words?- come to Philly. There is no limit on how many handguns you can purchase. And trust me on this one, you will find a thriving black market here full of willing buyers. Isn't Pennsylvania great? Yes, our brothers and sisters in the Western part of our fine state just love to hunt, and they take the second amendment of our constitution quite literally. And since they outnumber the urban politricksters in Harrisburg, there will be no significant gun legislation anytime soon to curb the culture of death that we live with here. You gotta love it.

While back here in Philly, court was rapping up yesterday for a now 20 year old accused of a triple murder two years ago. He shot a 20 year old and a teenager, both at point blank range in their bedroom in a dispute over... a gun. And as he left the room, the victims grandmother, a 67 year old who had just graduated community college a few years earlier, came to see what the commotion was all about. The young animal shot her too, the bullet tearing through her lungs and killing her instantly. When he was asked why he shot the old woman, the 18 year old told the cops,"Everybody had to go" He further said in his statement: "She screamed after she was shot. Not while she was shot too much, while she was being shot" He told police in his statement, "that was probably the worst thing I ever done in my life" According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "when police asked him to read back the statement to make sure it was accurate, he took a pen and crossed out the word 'probably'" Folks, this is the generation that's being raised out here on our streets. This is our war on terror.

Where is the NAACP when you need em....oh excuse me, did I say the NAACP? Well as it turns out, our local NAACP leader here in Philly has just hooked up with a powerful white state senator to sit on the board of a casino group that he-the politician- wants to bring to our area. So I guess J. Whyatt Mondesire has been busy lately. Cutting his own deals, and lining his own pocket. Way to go Mr. NAACP President, nice to know the poor black folks of your city can count on you during a real crisis. Next time instead of making national headlines writing about our local quarterback and whether he is a house negro or not, how about doing something to make some real change out here on these streets? Something significant to try to curb these animals from killing each other, along with the innocent citizens of our fair city.

My barber is almost finished, I feel the cool air on top of my head already. That's enough of this depressing news in the fields head for one day. Time for my Lark Voorhies thoughts to clear the field's head and make the world seem more pleasant and alright to live in again. But not even Lark can clear the fields head with all the sh*# going on these days. I am afraid, that until a certain frat boy leaves office, being in my barber's chair will be the only peaceful time I have.

ROLL CALL SINCE JUNE,2006. WE CAN NEVER REPAY THESE BRAVE SOULS OR THEIR FAMILIES.
