Dorner's last stand?

As one of my tweeter fam said, it's the "state of the Dorner coverage" on the news tonight. Sorry Mr. President, but this is like a real live Hollywood movie playing itself out in SoCal.

I know that a lot of my cousins are cheering for Dorner because dude is getting Robin Hood love from certain quarters, but I hope that these folks remember that he started his killing spree by killing a brotha.

I am pretty sure that this will not end well. This guy doesn't strike me as someone who wants to be taken alive, and I am pretty sure that the cops out in SoCal are going to make damn sure that he isn't. (Another one of their brothers just died)

There are certainly a lot of interesting developments around this. CNN and other news outlets are telling folks to stay off twitter and other social media outlets. (Yeah right. I will be on my iPad as soon as I finish this post and I will be tweeting my ass off as this thing plays itself out.) The LAPD is reporting that they have resources available to them and they will be ready to use them as soon as the local police departments ask for their assistance. (MOVE anyone?)

It's sad that it took this dude snapping to have this conversation again about corrupt police departments and the folks who run them, but the scrutiny is always needed. Especially on those boys in blue out in Los Angeles. I mean they do have a history.

Now we have to ask ourselves, how many more Christopher Dorner's are out there?

Anyway, I am watching CNN now as it starts to get dark out West. This real live drama will be better than any fiction on television tonight. And if his Oness was hoping for a captive nation to listen to his address he better hope that this thing ends before nine o-clock.

One person who we know will be listening is Ted Nugent. Ted, of course, like  a certain ex LAPD cop, loves his guns.

"National Rifle Association board member and conservative columnist Ted Nugent reportedly said that a Democratic congressman who criticized Nugent's invitation to the State of the Union and was paralyzed in a firearms accident has "s**t for brains."
Nugent's comments are hardly surprising given his long record of offensive invective.
Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) has urged more than two dozen lawmakers to invite survivors of gun violence as their guests to the State of the Union.
Langevin has personal experience with gun safety. As ABC News reported:
As a 16-year-old, Langevin was critically injured while working with the Warwick Police Department in the Boy Scout Explorer program. A veteran officer handling a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol, not realizing a round rested in the chamber, pulled the trigger, bouncing a bullet off a metal locker and striking the teenager in the neck, severing his spinal cord.
After a Republican congressman responded by inviting Nugent to attend as his own guest, Langevin reportedly criticized the invitation, citing Nugent's history of violent rhetoric. At a February 12 press conference, Nugent reportedly responded as follows:
"He probably has s**t for brains," he said of Langevin.

[..]

"I couldn't be more proud of myself, what I stand for, and for this pompous ass to claim that he cares more about a family that lost a child than I do is a perfect example of the brain dead critics of Ted Nugent," he said."
Last week, Nugent said that President Obama is "promoting" racism and that his administration has a "racist agenda." [Source]

I take that back. Maybe the State of the Union address will be worth watching.

Los Angeles, we have a problem.

So this LL Cool J look-alike is picking off cops and innocent civilians out in L.A.

This is not good. I don't like when you Negroes go rogue. (Especially not big bald headed ones.)Cops already have the trigger finger and they are shooting innocent people who aren't even big bald headed black guys. (If you happen to be reading this in the L.A. area and drive a Nissan Titan, you might want to put that bad boy in the garage for awhile.)

This dude is doing his best John Allen Muhammad impression, because according to his manifesto, the LAPD did him wrong. Like Muhammad, this Christopher Jordan Dorner fellow was trained in the military, and like Muhammad, he clearly has some other issues.

The thing is, I believe a lot of what he wrote in his manifesto about the LAPD being less than on the up and up, but that doesn't give him the right to take the life of  the innocent child of one of the people who he thought wronged him, or to act as judge and executioner towards the others

The LAPD chief says "he knows what he is doing" because they trained him, well, for their sake, I hope that they didn't train him too well.

Hang on East Coast; I think another storm is coming our way. In Baaastan they are expecting 2 feet of snow. Good luck with that. I love living on the East Coast, because I like the changing seasons and I love getting ready for the spring after the cold winter months. I am from Jamaica, but I am no fan of darn near the same weather pattern 365 days of the year.  I am still not sure why folks retire to places like Florida and Arizona. "Field, it's to get away from the snow that's about to wallop you".

Still, all these winter storms are getting to be a bit much. I honestly think that I might have to reconsider my retirement plans.

Paul's fables, and the LAPD gone wild.

I have what might be considered some bad news for my friends in the dumbocratic party: I happen to like Paul Ryan a little bit. (Yeah I know he listens to AC/DC, but we can probably get past that.) I disagree philosophically with him on how to make the country better, and I probably agree with his policies five percent of the time.

Still, he seems like cool people, the kind of dude I wouldn't mind throwing back a few Red Stripes with on a Sunday evening while he cheers on his Packers and I get my holla on for #7 and Gang Green.

Which is why is has been so disappointing to hear that Paul has been playing fast and loose with the truth when it comes to his personal life. (Notice I didn't say when it comes to his politics, because I know that as a republican he has to lie to get elected. He has been telling some real political whoppers of late, but that is how politics works these days in America: tell a lie, and hope that it sticks, because the "lame street media" will ignore it, and your base will want to believe that it's true.) The other lies I can live with, but then I heard about a couple of others which kind of left me wondering about my man Paul.

First, he lied about the time it took him to run the marathon.

"In a radio interview last weekRyan claimed he ran a marathon in just under three hours, an almost unbelievably impressive time. For the record, winners of the New York City Marathon usually clock in around 2 hours and 10 minutes, while the average marathon time is somewhere around 4 hours and 30 minutes. That would make Ryan one impressive athlete.

But despite Ryan's claims that his best time was "two hour and fifty-something," it turns out Ryan's actual time was much, much higher. Runner's World delved into the matter and found several factual inaccuracies with Ryan's story.

From Runner's World: "Ryan's name does not show up in the 1991 race results provided by Grandma's. Runner's World checked 11 years of results for Grandma's Marathon, from 1988 through 1998, and found a finisher in the 1990 race by the name of Paul D. Ryan, 20, of Minneapolis. Ryan's middle name is Davis, and he was 20 in 1990. The finishing time listed was 4 hours, 1 minute and 25 seconds."

So there you have it. Ryan's best time is significantly higher than previously stated. To be fair to Ryan, though, 4 hours is still a pretty impressive time, just not nearly as amazing as his earlier record. [Source]

That is "pretty impressive", so why lie about it to make yourself look even more impressive?

Then there is the other lie. This one wingnuts should find ironic because my man Paul actually plays the race card.

"The cheerleader who Paul Ryan dated in college and helped forge his uncompromising opposition to racism says that she may not be a Republican but still supports the 'nice guy'.
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Deneeta Pope said she met the future vice presidential candidate through friends at Miami University some 20 years ago.

Pope, 40, said: 'Paul is a very nice guy, a kind guy and a family guy. He's very approachable and a very likeable person.'
The relationship and the negative reaction he said he suffered from his so-called friends were a formative experience in the political evolution of the VP pick who described himself as a 'big, big fan' of Martin Luther King and is a staunch advocate of civil rights.

But Pope, an I.T. specialist and realtor living in Chicago, denies that they experienced any racism as a couple. [Source]

Oh ohh. Did she say that they didn't experience any racism? Yes, I think she did.

Well why did Paul say......

"In a 2005 interview, Mitt Romney’s future running mate said that he had been confronted with racism personally, because he had dated an African-American and also had a brother with a black wife.
‘I have a sister-in-law who’s African American,’ he told Milwaukee Magazine.
‘My college sweetheart was black,' he added.

‘I just experienced some ugly comments, some racist views from people who I thought were friends of mine.'' [Source]

Another lie? Hmm, maybe. But, to be fair to Paul, his friends at Delta Tau Delta could have been telling him to cut the jungle fever crap and get on with his life. Maybe Paul didn't tell Deneeta the ugly details because he wanted to protect her from the evils of color arousal. (Apparently it worked, because Deneeta married another guy just like Paul.) If that's the case I might have to apologize to Paul. If not, I might need a psychological profile of the guy before it's too late.

Finally, I see that the LAPD is up to their old tricks. Sadly, three very ugly incidents have us all thinking Daryl Gates, again.

They beat the crap out of a poor woman for using her cell phone while driving, the commander tried to cover it up and thankfully he was removed from his command.

Then there is poor Brian Mulligan; he must have felt like the white Rodney King after the LAPD put a serious beat down on his behind. (Check out this picture of what used to be Brian's face.)

What happened to Ms. Jordan, and Mr. Mulligan is bad, but at least they are still alive and here with us to tell of their horrible experiences. Alesia Thomas, unfortunately, is not.

"Los Angeles police are embroiled in another excessive force investigation after a mother of two died during a chaotic July arrest in which an officer kicked the woman in the groin while she was handcuffed, officials said." [Source]

If LA's finest continue to act this way we could be looking at more riots down the road. Count on it.

Urban terrorist and the people charged to control them.

I will be the first to admit that sometimes a cell phone can seem like a deadly weapon. Like, for instance, when I am trying to relax in a public area or concentrate on what I am doing, only to be drawn into someones conversation who happens to be two city blocks away.

Still, I think it's a bit much to think someone is going to blast away and cause you serious bodily harm with their cell phone. Unfortunately, for 22 year old Woodrow Wilson Player, (What self respecting black person names their son Woodrow Wilson? The man was a flat out racist who segregated the federal government and praised the KKK. But I digress. ) the LAPD doesn't seem to agree. Pull a cell phone on the LAPD and that's your ass. I guess they hate cell phones as much as I do.
"According to a preliminary investigation, the incident began when sheriff's deputies from the Lennox Station responded to an alleged 'man with a gun' call. The suspect was allegedly driving a vehicle. The deputies made a 'felony' traffic stop, and the suspect got out of his car and ran, Thompson said. Deputies gave chase, and Player twice pointed a 'dark object' at deputies, causing them to believe he was armed with a handgun. When investigators searched the alley where the shooting occurred, they recovered a cellphone next to Player, not a gun, said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.'It appears the dark object was a cellphone,' Whitmore said. Player was declared dead at the scene."

Now before you go thinking that this is just another field painting the poor innocent black man as a victim of police brutality story, it is not. (Although this stuff is starting to get a bit much with LA's finest.) Shit like this happens every day. If that was the case I could do two or three posts a day with nothing but this stuff. No, what made me post this story was all the fascinating layers to it, and how it speaks to urban crime and violence.

This cat had beaten a murder charge before, and he was no angel. Like Snoop, he was a crip, but unlike Snoop, he was no rapper. Still, he should not have lost his life allegedly at the hands of an untrained police officer, or worse, a police officer determined to give out his own personal brand of justice. In spite of what scum like this would want. (Did I call these people scum? I shouldn't have. Scum deserves better.) If he was a bad guy (which by all accounts he was) he should have been charged with a crime, taken off the street, and left to the criminal justice system to handle him. If he was allowed to walk free because of poor prosecuting or policing, then maybe the people of Los Angeles County should vote out their District Attorney. Or maybe thy should revisit how their probation and parole department keeps track of some of these multiple offenders. And it's not only Los Angeles. As someone who has been in the belly of the beast a time or two here in Philly, --been in some of the worst holding cells in the district and in the prisons- I can tell you that incarceration is not a deterrent. To many, it's a badge of honor. You can almost see the pride in their eyes when you hear some of these young bucks talking about just "coming home" after doing time. It's as if they were home from college or some shit.
But back to my original story, because it gets even more bizarre:

"UPDATE: Four people were shot and injured this afternoon in Athens while standing in an alley where another man was killed Friday night by sheriff’s deputies.

Paramedics had responded to the shooting and were transporting the injured, three men and one woman, to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Sheriff’s deputies ordered a gathering crowd to calm down after what appeared to be a drive-by shooting.

Witnesses said that at about 2:30 p.m., an old model gray Buick with three men inside stopped in front of the alley and about a dozen shots were fired from the car, which then sped away."

This seems to be a new phenomenon. Just a week or so ago the same thing happened right here in Philly. Hell there have been shootings at funerals here in Philly, so I guess it's not so new after all.

Wow! We can't even let each other grieve in peace now. Is this is what it's come to? I would love to say that it will end and that we will get a handle on it soon. But when the people on the front lines who are charged with controlling these urban terrorist can't do their jobs, I really have to wonder.
