"The longer I think about it, the less well this selection sits with me. And I increasingly doubt that it will prove good politics. The Palin choice looks cynical. The wires are showing.
John McCain wanted a woman: good.
John McCain wanted a woman: good.
He wanted to keep conservatives and pro-lifers happy: naturally. He wanted someone who looked young and dynamic: smart. And he discovered that he could not reconcile all these imperatives with the stated goal of finding a running mate qualified to assume the duties of the presidency "on day one."
Sarah Palin may well have concealed inner reservoirs of greatness. I hope so! But I'd guess that John McCain does not have a much better sense of who she is, what she believes, and the extent of her abilities than my enthusiastic friends over at the Corner. It's a wild gamble, undertaken by our oldest ever first-time candidate for president in hopes of changing the board of this election campaign. Maybe it will work. But maybe (and at least as likely) it will reinforce a theme that I'd be pounding home if I were the Obama campaign: that it's John McCain for all his white hair who represents the risky choice, while it is Barack Obama who offers cautious, steady, predictable governance.
Here's I fear the worst harm that may be done by this selection. The McCain campaign's slogan is "country first." It's a good slogan, and it aptly describes John McCain, one of the most self-sacrificing, gallant, and honorable men ever to seek the presidency.
But question: If it were your decision, and you were putting your country first, would you put an untested small-town mayor a heartbeat away from the presidency?..."
The writing above wasn't from some left wing democrat. It was from David Frum, darling of the neocon right, and former speech writer to rethuglican presidents. Frum was writing online for "The National Review", and he is obviously not a happy camper.
And you know what, I agree with him. I am sorry folks, but to paraphrase Frum, the more I think about this pick, the more I am thinking just how insane Mr. Morton must be. And for all the folks in this country writing on blogs, and pontificating in various media outlets about what a brilliant pick this is, I say to you with all due respect, that you must have lost your fucking minds. This pick was pure lunacy.
This woman wasn't even properly vetted for crying out loud. Right now we are hearing that she had a little scandal brewing up in Alaska, one which the rest of us down here in the lower forty eights were totally clueless about.
Now folks, you all know how I feel about this election; it is my humble opinion that his "O" ness will lose. Because no matter how good the illusion looks, A-merry-ca is not quite ready to elect a skinny Negro from the South side of Chicago, with an Arab name, president. But I will be damned if Mr. Morton didn't go ahead and give his "O" ness a fighting chance.
Maybe it's just me, but I would at least like the person who is a heart beat away from leading my country to be smarter, or as smart as I am. (She named her son "Trig" for god sake) Ahhh field, you are so arrogant and such a sexist asshole, how do you know that this woman is not smarter than you are? No fucking way! And that's not being arrogant, that's just a fact. I bet I forgot more foreign policy than she knows. Sexist? I don't think so. I don't, for instance, think that I am necessarily as smart as Hillary, or Condi for that matter. (Although I make better choices) But this lady? I am going to go out on a limb and say I have it over her in the brains department. AND SHE IS GOING TO BE THE VP? Folks, this makes the Dan Quayle pick look downright genius. And just in case you think I am a sexist; I want you to know that I think that he was a flat out idiot. And the last time I checked (well I didn't actually check), he is a man.
But hey, as they say in Hollywood, it's a wrap now.
My friends (I got that from Mr. Morton), wouldn't it be ironic if the woman who was runner up to the first African American to win Ms. Alaska, ends up losing to the first African American president of these divided states? I know, I know, one is a beauty contest, and the other is the presidency. But if you think about it, what's the difference?

Don't hold back Field. How do you really feel? :-)
This pick will either go down in history as one of the smartest or one of the dumbest political moves. It will not go down in history as one of the least contraversial ones.
Karl Rove is said to have had a large part in this decision and that man is not dumb.
Hi Field..
McShane pick the right choice to lose...he thought he could go after the bitter Billiary votes and come out ahead, but he forgot one thing...the conservative men votes....do you think they want unqualified woman to lead this country if McShane does not finished out his term...nope...Plus, those bitter Billary voters are not that dumb...they didnt want any woman, they wanted Billary...it's insult.
As an Obama supporter, I know he had to be laughing all yesterday and most of the day before he went back to work...
Some of these people think the election is now on equal level field, but it is not by a long shot. white woman versus a black man...minority versus minority...which will the American pick a black man or white woman...
McShane should have pick a better qualified woman than a beauty contest woman with four children and a grandchild (who she is claiming as her own)
Field, it gets much better than this. There's a rumor that the Down's Syndrome kid isn't hers. It's her oldest daughter's and she covered it up.
If you go to Watergate Summer, you'll find out that the eldest daughter was removed from high school about four months before the baby was born because of a bad case of "mono".
Palin never told anyone she was pregnant, not even her staffers.
Better yet, she broke her water in Dallas, gave a thirty-minute speech afterward and then boarded a plane to have her baby in Alaska.
Superwoman? I think not.
I just don't see the downside to this choice. The libertarians like her (think Barr voters) and she should play well with many in the battle ground states, not to mention the south. Obama is still running against himself in many respects with his lack of character judgment in others. The 527's WILL expose this.
Like they say in baseball, any team can beat any other team on any other day of the week. McMorton (as you call him) may win the election, or he may not. Whoever wins won't be because they're so much smarter, but more probably because they're so much luckier. That reality does not excuse our obligation to work for our version of what is right. If Obama does not win, it will not be because I did not do everything I could to make it happen.
Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people. They elected George W. Bush twice.
I understand that McCain does not have the spending power that Obama has. I've read that by McCain picking Palin the ultra right wing are now contributing money to his campaign.
My first impression of McCain's VP pick is that it would definitely hurt Obama's run. After thinking about it I think actually help Obama.
This is my theory. If the Ultra Right Wing (better known as wingnuts) influence the Republican through money, you have moderate Repubs and fiscal conservative/social moderate Repubs not liking it at all. They may vote for Obama to break the potential of the Wingnuts totally controlling the party. They Repubs (corporate whores from the right side of the aisle) always rallied the wingnuts to get out the vote for their cooperate agenda But I never got that the wingnuts dictated who become politician and policies.
I think that moderate repubs (voters and elected officials) will support McCain publically. But privately they will not. They will pull the lever for Obama. I think that Palin success as a VP will force the middle of the road Repubs to actually look for elsewhere in a way that they did not have to before. (Before they were merely tolerated, thus abiding their time).
I think that Palin VP candidacy will cause some Repubs seriously think about their immediate self interest.
Houston, to stick with the baseball analogy; Mr. Morton has the home field advantage, three Cy Young pitchers on his staff, and an MVP. But he is calling up nine guys from the minors to start the game for him.
Damn r.j., now you are making me think about this stuff. I am trying to make this about the issues, but.....
This thing is going to blow up on the Old Coot.
There's something not right about the mystery infant born with Downs Syndrome. Nobody in Palin's Juneau office knew she was pregnant. Pictures of Palin attending an energy meeting in Texas just days before she "delivered" show a woman not remotely showing a baby bump.
McCandy comes into work and just blithely tells her staff, "Guess what? I had a baby over the weekend!"
What kind of fuckery is she pulling on us? I am telling you, there's something not right here and when it is made public, the Old Coot's presidential aspirations will come crashing down.
The rightwing doesn't like scandal.
christopher, the baby expert. I'm gonna scream now.
WOOHOO!
I'm gonna see Field nekked!
I'm gonna see Field nekked!
**My husband says it OK, so HA!!
Anonymous, scared to give yourself a name???
All that's missing is the UPPER CASE letters.
christopher, That post was by me, szpork. Down syndrome is a lot more common in older women if I remember correctly.
Anon 12:02: DS is also common in very young mothers, too.
It sounds crazy, but who gives a speech after their water breaks then boards a plane--7 or 8 months pregnant now--and flies for 10 hours, and the flight crew doesn't notice her condition and she doesn't tell them? I know it's rumor mongering, but that is odd. Way odder than the Barack-Anti-Christ-Manchurian-Candidate thing.
Field: second runner up to the first Black Miss Alaska! This is delicious.
Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney with a uterus. That is all.
And the comparison to Dan Quayle actually makes Quayle look like a sensible pick.
Ahh, c'mon--she's obviously a foreign policy expert--I mean, I heard it on Faux News--her State borders Russia and Canada--how much more foreign policy experience does one need ?
Anyway, her kids have cool names---I mean Trig has to inspire respect, right ?
Start workin' them abs, Field...
Field:
I was just reading an interesting blog of a person who lives in Alaska and writes about the politics in the state. There were a couple reactions that were very telling of what the politicians are thinking about Sarah Palin as the chosen VP. The republican state senate president Lyda Green said "She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president. Look at what she's done to the is state. What would she do to the nation? Green is also from Palin's home town of Wasilla where she was mayor for two years before becoming governor. Another politician state representative Mike Doogan, a democrat stated: "Either Sarah Palin has talents and skills were were not aware of, or John McCain fell down and hit his head" He also called the prospect of Palin potentially needing to take over as President pretty scary.
She also supported the bridge to no where which she claimed in her speech yesterday, and the state kept the money that was earmarked for the bridge to be used on other transportation projects. She more of whistleblower than a reformer, and the ethics bill was more than two years overdue. She inflated her resume. Field you are right, she was not vetted and that like soap opera scandal going with the attempt of firing her brother-in-law from his state trooper job, but the boss was fired because he refused to fired the person.
I also questioned her judgement about flying back to her home town of Alaska to have the baby when she had access to excellent neo-natal care in Dallas. In addition, I do not know if she had long labors with her children, but typically labors tend to be shorter after the birth of the first child. Who is she Piza Adora who in labor for 24 hours? Personally, I would have had the baby wherever my water broke, and doctors tend tell women not travel late in their pregnancy because oh I don't know you could go into labor.

Make sure you all read some of the comments there too.
"I know, I know, one is a beauty contest, and the other is the presidency. But if you think about it, what's the difference?"
Not a got damn difference. Not in this country, where people pay a lot more attention to what's happening in Hollywood than what's going down in D.C.
With all due respect to Alexis de Tocqueville, here's how this glorious democracy works (many, many people have died supposedly fighting for this, remember):
You get a choice between this one and that one. Despite all the platitudes, neither really has your best interests at heart. So the pragmatic amongst us vote for the one we think will do the least amount of harm.
Each candidate starts with their "base", people who always vote for one and not the other based on their preferred issues.
So the decision always comes down to the least issues-oriented voters, i.e., the voters paying the least attention to what matters most. These are called "swing voters" and they make their decision based on such things as who they would rather have a beer with. It doesn't matter if that person is an alcoholic simpleton, as long as they seem pretty cool to shoot the breeze with.
Now looking at this election in that context, it all boils down to whether it's more fun to have a beer with Mr. Obama, the serious intellectual or Mr, McCain, the cranky old geezer. Personally, I would choose the intellectual. It might not be the most fun I'll ever have, but at least I wouldn't have to worry about him pissing on himself.
It's going to be interesting to watch and listen to conservative pundits try to prove to themselves that this was a prudent choice.
The problem with any scandal on her part is that if he chooses someone else, he will come across as desperate. If the scandals prove to be true and he keeps her, he will come across as foolish.
There HAS to be someone who is really smart and in charge in order to create a situation this bad for McCain.
It reminds me a little of "Springtime for Hitler."
The Republicans realize that who ever gets into office next is going to have a perfect firestorm of consequences coming home to roost and not to disparage my fellow Americans; we tend to blame whoever is currently in office, after all it is "his watch." They don't want the presidency this round. A really horrid scandal from the VP candidate could be just perfect.
The pres/vp pairing read straight; with no baby scandal, is odd enough, but with all of this early trash it looks terrible. How about a DNA sample? Any one?
Zogby Poll:
McCain/Palin 47%
Obama/Biden 45%
!!!
But the Gallup tracking poll done the same day has O up by 8, like the day before, so whatever.
All the dirt coming out already is crazy. My original post brought up the baby rumor but then I saw that's its already spreading like wildflre. I think a rabid press is gonna get to the truth of that fairly quickly.
I don't understand why Rove would make this choice. It sounds like this woman was not vetted at all!
That she has no experience, let's be honest, I agree the swing voters don't care, but these scandals that are coming out already? WTF?
I think the far right might have issues with Trooper Gate. If the baby rumors are true (and this will be very easy to prove) why did this lady accept the VP spot? That is a whole level of stupid I don't get.
Palin makes Quayle look downright adequate. As dopey was he was, he had a decade of congressional experience & probably would've figured out how to get the country to the next election without blowing the world up.
They say that Sarah Palin makes one helluva good first impression.
But, damn, after meeting her only once, McCain offers her the second most important job in the country, if not the world, she must be handing out orgasms with every handshake.
Sources are reporting that Sarah Palin’s unwed, 16-year old daughter is actually the mother of the Downs Syndrome infant Palin is claiming as her own. If this is true, expect the tabloids to be all over the story in the coming weeks, even if the MSM is afraid to touch it.
If confirmed, then it is a stunning revelation and it will sink the McCain/Palin candidacy. Even if Sarah Palin whines about the unfair scrutiny the media is giving to her personal life.
The clues to watch for will come in the form of the GOP protectively circling the wagons around Palin.
I am loving this Sarah Palin scandal:). Field, have you pick out that sock for you "Johnson". Go with wool, cause it's going to be very, very cold:)
Leah Rose
Last weekend I went to my good friends house for dinner - we've never talked politics but she knows I'm an Obama supporter. I guess I never really thought one way or another about who she'd vote for. But last weekend, her husband spilled the beans that she was voting for McCain. I had no clue.
So yesterday they invited us over for a neighborhood cookout. Now, I've known for a while that most of her neighbors have no love for a brotha trying to make it to the white house - so I thought this here cookout would be a perfect occasion to wear my newly purchased "Obama 08" t-shirt.
You know, start a little shit at a family cookout... seemed like a good idea to me.
As you can imagine, I got the exact response I was looking for "OMG! I can't believe you're wearing that shirt!" and "Please tell me you're not voting for him. He's going to kill you with taxes" and on, and on.
That shit didn't bother me. The main reason I wore the shirt was so I could get people talking about this clown of a VP selection. Do you know these fools REALLY think she's an excellent pick??? They actually believe that 18 months as gov qualifies her. And I can't tell you how quickly the "and she's so smart" comment flew out their mouth. It blew my effin mind that didn't hang their heads in embarrassment and admit this was not a good idea. They honestly believe this will pull disgruntled Hillary supports. I'd let them talk and plead their case, but I found that when I brought up how I couldn't wait for the VP debates... that usually shut them up. (Might Joe is going to eat that child alive... po thang)
When I found out about Palin, and I began to read more and more about her and how idiotic this choice was - I wondered who in his camp could have actually thought this a good idea. I just couldn't believe that none of his advisor's put a halt to this. But hell, after going to this cook out last night... I now see the GOP has gotten their hands on a new and improved, super duper strength flavor of kool-aid!

Even if the baby story is true the left can't attack Palin on that and risk alienating suburban women.
If she takes heat for the trooper firing scandal she's going to come out ahead when she gets to air the nitty gritty of why she wanted to fire him...she'll just solidify her female John Wayne bonafides.
If Gustav does real damage and gas shoots to 5$ this pick will bash Obama upside the head for his position on drilling far more effectively than you've seen anyone do it thus far...Palin COULD turn out to be another classic Zwischenzug played by rove.
I've seen her in action before and noted her skill in a heads up verbal confrontation...dems underestimate her at their own peril.
Kemet:
I do not underestimate Palin's ability to appeal because she is attractive and as seen as an attack dog. However, that's in Alaska. Unless they get her up to date with national politics, she is not going to be effective. I am listening to the news right now and Palin is appealing to male voters than women voters, and I am not shocked by that revelation.
However, if the story is true about the infant being her daughter's child and not hers, that will not sit well with people with strong family values. In addition, it goes to show how devious Palin and not very original since Desperate Housewives had a story line of Brie pretending she was pregnant to hide the fact that her daughter was having the baby. It is matter of being dishonest and trying to fool the people of Alaska about her pristine. I do not know if the story is true, but find it odd that a woman late in her pregnancy expected to deliver any day would travel to TX and her water breaks, travels back to Alaska to give birth. I think it is certainly something to think about because no woman in her right would travel that distance, and simply have the baby at the nearest hospital, particularly when Dallas has one of the best neo-natal care facilities in the country. I think they could go after her about lying about the child being hers. If we they can go after John Edwards about his affair and lying, then it's fair game for Palin.
Here’s what Sarah Palin said when asked about abortion during her 2006 gubernatorial race:
http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/elections/2006/governor/story/8372383p-8266781c.html
What if her own daughters were raped and became pregnant?
Palin replied: "I would choose life."
Just so that we’re all clear. McCain’s choice for VP said on the record that should her daughter be raped, she would force her continue with the pregnancy.
Don cha' just love Republican family values? And yes, if John Edwards' personal dalliances (Edwards, who was one of 5 possible VPs for Obama) was fair game, so is John McCain's VP choice.
Sarah Palin doesn't get a 'pass' because she's a woman.
Day 3: Note Dems still talking about McCain's VP pick.
I heard the down baby was from an alien....she was abducted....lol
no matter how you cut at the end of the day if people are talking about McCain....they're not talking about bambi....didn't he make somekind of speech the other day?????
No annienonymous this dem/liberal is laughing his ass off at the bad judgement Grampa has shown yet again. His pick keeps getting weirder and her story less and less credible, what's not to talk - laugh - about ? After Tiger aces a par 5 in 2 shots and sits down we watch drunkass Jon Daly blasting golf balls off of Kidd Rock's 40 ozer because Tiger just showed us golf now Daley is entertaining us. That's what people call an analogy annie didja get it ?
This isn't Hollywood where all news is good news and you're happy just as long as they are talking.
But then again, America is full of stupid voters.
still not talk'in about bambi's earth shaking speech....lol
speaking of the bamseter where the hell is he now days????

"I bet I forgot more foreign policy than she knows."
Wine Dog ain't takin' that action. I KNOW you forgot more foreign policy than she EVER knew.
Obama's first move is Biden. Mr. Morton's first move is this? He's already senile.
A Right Winger wrote me and said that Joe Biden hadn't shot a moose. I thought, at least she hit the moose and not her hunting partner. Maybe she is an improvement.
And my parting shot on beauty queens.

Dropping knowledge with a sense of humor. Brilliant!
FIELD,
ALL THE INTERNET BLOGS REPORT THAT THE BABY THAT PALIN "HAD" IS NOT REALLY HERS, BUT HER DAUGHTER'S BABY. EVEN MAJOR, RESPONSIBLE BLOGS ARE REPORTING THIS. INCLUDING PICTURES OF A FLAT-STOMACH, EIGHT-MONTHS 'PREGNANT' PALIN.
wait i found him on huffington....oh wait he talking about palin!!!!
i thought he'd be out trying to get votes????
what's he doing and biden's sitting there???
come on guys get up do something besides talk about palin...isn't that called defense?????
Yes, anonymous, whether or not people are talking about Obama's acceptance speech is a sure fire sign of how viable his candidacy is. Yes, excellent logic there.
Hey, maybe YOU should be VP!
hey, i'm (you too) are just as qualified....except ican't spell worth a s#@t....that prob won't hurt
My theory on Palin's selection goes like this:
McCain had a name on a piece of paper and it wasn't her name, but he just accidentally blurted her name in front of the cameras and poor baby Rove slapped upside his head because McC just mis-spoke himself (again) and here we all are going WTF!!!
Obama's camp doesn't need to do anything but sit back and watch McCain's camp implode all on its own. Hilarious. McCain goes out and picks Blair from Facts of Life as his running mate and people think its "smart" because it took the attention away from Obama?? LMAO!! No one forgot about Obama's speech, but the scrutiny of Palin, who was not vetted worth a damn (hell, even Obama's vetting TEAM was vetted!), is NOT the publicity you want. That saying "any publicity is good publicty".... does not apply to politics. Ask John Edwards. This chick is about to catch hell. Troopergate, the little lawsuit in Wasilla, and the little matter of the child/grandhcild will all be fodder for talk shows and late night comics for weeks to come. Don't be shocked if McCain is crying "do over!" by next week.
I love that Rethuglicans don't research history. When Obama ran for the Illinois Senate, his initial opponent, Jack Ryan, was caught in a very public sex scandal, and was forced to drop out. Shortly after, Obama delivered the famous speech at the 2004 Dem convention. What did the Rethugs do, who were apparentely dazed and confused? They asked Alan Keyes (yep, that crazy fool) to run against Obama. Obama not only won, he trounced Keyes. Hopefully, Pallin will have the same effect.
http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/palin-is-mccains-bridge-to-nowhere-thanks-but-no-thanks/
Interesting take on Palin here from her hometown...
Field, you got me thinking with the reference to the Ms. Alaska contest, so I did a little checking. Maryline Blackburn is the woman who won. However someone is attempting to DELETE the entry from Wikipedia with this comment added: "Only claim to notability is that she finished ahead of Sarah Palin in a beauty contest. Not notable by herself."
In contrast, check out Sarah Palin's page and there have been over 500 edits made to her page in the LAST TWO DAYS! Someone trying to re-write history??? Check this shyt out for yourself, along with the comnents about why it was edited, particularly the information about "family". The spinners are working over-time to keep the truth from coming out!
And for those of you who think this took the attention off Obabam, do not for one second think that once this little Sarah-gate-entertainment blows over, it will keep any of us from working to get Obama in office!
It's annoying how this stole the thunder from Obama's historic address. Even today, the papers are dedicating twice as much ink to the Repugs, most of it gushing about what a "maverick" choice she was. Sick.
First order of business in any reform-minded administration: Break up the media monopolies.
Don't underestimate the Rethugs and scandal. It is NOTHING NEW to them (you hear me? NOTHING). They know how to cover, clean, and help us forget it.
However, the power of tits and ass goes a LONG way. I believe the woman is smart and intellectual and has something to offer. She will get her cliff notes like other politicians, grow a thick skin and start fighting hard for her "PRESIDENTIAL POSITION".
I think laughing time is over . . . The Obama camp will hopefully come out with a new strategy and have their people in Alaska digging for more than oil.
~
Sarah Palin is already in trouble. She has openly admitted in an interview with CNBC that she doesn’t know what the vice president does. She has admitted that she hasn’t been paying attention to the Iraq War, and thus doesn’t have much of an opinion about it (things were really busy in Alaska). She has absolutely no foreign policy experience, no national experience (she’s never held a national office), most members of her own party don’t even know who she is, and John McCain only met her once before choosing her.

Looks like Gustav is ruining the entire show for the GOP this week. Kinda ironic given that Dobson was praying for rain in Denver last week. The weather gods obviously don't listen to wingnuts.
Breaking news...Dick Cheney, who was supposed to be speaking at the convention tomorrow night, is LEAVING THE COUNTRY to go visit the oil pipelines near Russia. Dick doesn't have too many fond memories of the last hurricane to hit the Gulf. I guess the Georgians can tell him to go fuck himself this time.
Gsutiger:
One thing about the Obama campaign, they consistently stay on message and it would a mistake to change it into the general election.
McCain keep changing his message and has done it agin with choosing Palin. Now the new message is to reform Washington, and the Obama camp should continually drive the message home to the people that McCain isn't sure what he wants to do because he keeps changing the message. McCain is inconsistent. McCain can no longer use the inexperienced argument against Obama as it that would bring attention to the fact he chose a VP candidate who has a thin resume.
I was reading the Anchorage Daily News and there seems to be some strong feelings about Palin being prepared to become VP and possibly President of the United States. I do not so sure that the the point will energize the evangelical base.
The baby rumor is interesting. Since, airlines do not allow pregnant women on planes when they are that far along in pregnancy, because of the altitude thing and policy. No way would she have been able to give a 30-minute speech after her water bag busted and fly back to Alaska. First of all, labor pains start coming closer together in minutes, labor pains are no joke and you can ask any woman who has went through them. Second, if her water bag busted the baby is coming quick, especially if she has had children before. A baby is not going to wait for the hours and distance it would take to go from TX to Alaska, drive to the hospital, register, and get prep for delivery.
Most women when their having labor pains are concentrating on how far apart the labor pains are, getting it over with, some even cuss out the males for having to experience that much pain (I’ve heard stories of that happening as well), praying that the baby will hurry up and come, asking for something to alleviate the pain, and push, push, push. They don’t have time to make a speech.
If the baby is not hers, it demonstrates the level of deception Republicans are willing to use to win at all cost and says a lot about her integrity. I don’t know why, but the first thing came to my mind when he pick her was that she might be his sideline woman or his potential choice for one. After all, Cindy was a beauty pageant too and a zebra does not change his stripes. If a man cheated on his wife to marry another woman, he’ll cheat on that woman with someone else. I know, I know that might be a little on the gossip side, but I don’t put nothing past McCain, and if Karl Rove is in the mix, well that makes it even more suspicious, because Rove is very messy and he is worse than a busy body woman.
I've read allegations about Trig being Palin's grandson instead of her son. However, BF says that something like that would have come up during the vetting process.
Sharon
Many airlines will require a medical certificate from your doctor dated 24-72 hours before your flight once you reach your third trimester (27 weeks), so you should check on that. By the time you reach your eighth month (32 weeks) almost all airlines will require a doctors note,
start to restrict at 7 months, although the majority restrict around 36 weeks. Once you have passed the 28th week of your pregnancy, travelling gets a lot more complicated with travel insurers reluctant to give cover, and airlines requiring a doctor's letter.
Palin aind no Phillis Wheatley
Field,
To quote HN Juan Williams, who said this today on Fox News Sunday: "I don't ever want to hear conservatives complain about affirmative action again."
This is a brilliant post.
The mayor of my hometown is a woman who can't run a small business. Too bad she didn't make a bid for governor. Maybe she could be McCain's gimmick.
I am an Obama supporter, but that doesn't mean I don't love Hillary. In fact, choosing between the two of them was the hardest decision as a voter I've ever made. Well, if Dennis Kuchinich would have had a chance, I would have gone with him. But, he's just too liberal and honest, right?
But, Hillary is a quality candidate. I think she would make a great president. SO, I find it wildly offensive that these talking heads on television think the people who supported Hillary would switch to McCain just because his ticket now carries a vagina. Seriously!
Not only does Palin have little experience, McCain himself barely knows her. Her husband works for British Petroleum, one of the biggest and most crooked oil companies on the planet, so I am sure some controversy will erupt along the way, one the McCain people know nothing about. And, maybe it will help us take back our country before John McCain starts another war.
"Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney with a uterus. That is all."
And she's a better shot, too.
"typically labors tend to be shorter after the birth of the first child. Who is she Piza Adora who in labor for 24 hours? Personally, I would have had the baby wherever my water broke, and doctors tend tell women not travel late in their pregnancy because oh I don't know you could go into labor."
And if she knew in advance that it was going to be a "special needs" child, why take so many risks, one on top of the other?
My woman said that we need to focus on the voting machines....DIEBOLD, DIEBOLD, DIEBOLD!
Palin is just there to get McCain elected, so they think. After he gets elected she will resign for family reasons and McCain will pick the VP he really wants.
If McCain really wanted a female VP he had better choices.
If anybody can get their hands on that video of the speech she gave in Dallas while she was in "labor", that would be great!
I've gone through labor... and I KNOW I couldn't give a speech while that was going on. If she's truly in labor, some point during that 30 minute speech, we should be able to detect some sort of grimace on her face.
Get to work guys!
Sharon,
What makes you think McCandy was vetted?
She has a vagina -- that's all the Old Coot needs on the ticket to woo some of the PUMA loons.
I agree about the Diebold, the voting list, and any other tool that is going to be used in voting. Granny will be working at the polls as an election official come November, and believe me Granny has eyes in the back of her head so to speak.
Shonda:
For some reason I like Kuchinich too, because he don't mind standing up, speaking up, and telling the truth about corruption in the White House. I wish they would put him over the Attorney Generals office or something to do with keeping them honest.
Democratic:
Yup, a special needs child is in the high risk category isn't it? Her birth of a baby story don't fly with women like us who have birthed children into the world.
Interesting Palin sees nothing wrong with women being called the "B" word or making fun of cancer patients. Well, well, well, she is cold-hearted, catty, calculating female who lacks compassion. Degrading women will be no problem in her book, nor will degrading people with disabilities be a problem for her. I can't stand her already. Read this article.

Christopher:
I am trying to remember where I read that article that those PUMA folks are really Republicans and hired by McCain to cause division. I don't know how true that is, but the thought did occur to me several times before I read about them.
The water broke story is bogus. My water broke and my doctor made me go immediately to the hospital. I tried to talk him into letting me go to a baby shower that afternoon and he told me NO. Also, is she saying that for 8 plus hours she was walking around with water running down her legs. No, way in hell did she fly in labor with her water broke. This story does not fly.
Checkbook:
"The water broke story is bogus."
I totally agree with you as well as the other women on this blog that have experienced birthing a child into the world. Labor pains will not allow you to make a speech or do what all she claimed she did that day. Besides which, that baby would have died had that been the case from lack of oxygen. When it's time to come out, it time to come out, and a baby is not gonna wait. What about the mucus plug? That had to go first in order for the water bag to bust. What sane woman would travel knowing that the mucus plug was gone?
I want to see how she lies her way out of that one, because women who have had babies will be scrutinizing her every word with a fine teeth comb.
Read this, it is deception in full play. They want Hillary supporters.

I'm with Granny standing for truth and Anonymous on this one, PALIN is a head fake, we can't get distracted on! Or course we cant attack her the down syndrome fake pregancy even if it was faked to protect her daughter, the Repulinazis know this... what we need to challenge them on stealing the election, and the fact THAT the Diebold software has not been correct!http://dir.salon.com/story/tech/feature/2003/09/23/bev_harris/index.html
Sharon,
What makes you think Palin was fully vetted? By their own admission, there was only a surface-job done on Sara Palin by McCain's team. She hasn't been fully vetted, but all that's about to change...or rather it already has. More stuff is coming out about this woman now than was on Princess Diana. Seriously, the McCain campaign continues to amaze me with there complete lack of reality when it comes to google.
Maryline Blackburn is the woman who won. However someone is attempting to DELETE the entry from Wikipedia with this comment added: "Only claim to notability is that she finished ahead of Sarah Palin in a beauty contest. Not notable by herself."
---------
I guess being chosen as the first Black Miss Alaska isn't notable enough.

MSM is about to piss Granny off and I'm about ready to take them head on. They are lying about those polls. I believe we'll have more to watch then the Diebold this election, we'll have to keep an eye on MSM. I can't help but remember what Chris Matthews said on CSPAN that morning to those other Journalist about letting Obama have that kind of power being that he is a black man.
Be aware that they don't intend to play fair. I just got through listening to the 60 Minutes interview, and I didn't like the questions asked. I can't wait to see what type of questions he'll ask McCain and his VP.
Anyone who saw McCain revealed and would want a man that like a ticking time bomb, who cheats on his wife, lies for a President is out of their mind, but well, we already know this.
It looks like MSM media wants people who will lie to the American people, have bad tempers, smear and slander folks to be our President, and it's so obvious. Granny don't cuss, but Lord sometimes I feel like using some a few French words myself.
Hmmm.... Maybe, we need to start encouraging people to watch CSPAN and let MSM ratings go down. At least on CSPAN you can watch it free of BS and hear what politicians have to say on issues straight out the horses mouth free from being taken out of context. I still like Olbermann.
Gallup polls has Obama leading 49% to 41% percent McCain. CNN said Obama was leading 49% to 48%, now tell me CNN is not full of dung.
Palin was acceptable to the two-digit IQ branch of the Republican Party. Gah. We went to college to never again have to listen, other than with politeness, to the stoopids of the earth. Now, we may have to actually deal with them making laws. Twenty more years of this and the Chinese will be shipping their low-wage jobs to the US.
With Tom Ridge on the ticket, McCain might have kicked political @ss. Tom may not be popular in Philly or Pitt, but he is well-respected. Palin is, at best, a marginal self-satisfied, abusive jerk. With many issues.
Mold
MSM says Palin is a brilliant selection! Hockey Mom, PTA, Gun owner, Hunter, supporter of drill, drill, drill, Hillary supporters like her...on and on and on.
"ENOUGH." Barack Obama
I'm really late getting in on the conversation, but this was a great post, Field.
MsShane VP is going to be official grandmother now...The 17 year is pregnant again...I dont care what the MSM say, this girl have gone and got knock up again....Low self esteem and could not keep her first child, go get pregnant again...darn shame....
But yes it is ok to have a baby at 17..Mom was a strong advocate for abstinence..oh well..But you can you bet your ass if Obama's daughter got knocked up at 17, the Cons would have called her a hood rat or something just as blatent. They won't give out the dad's name or age, I bet dudes like 29..Like I said before there ain't shit to do in Alaska but hunt, drink and fucc.
They think that divulging this little tidbit will keep folks from digging about the down syndromes baby's true mother's identity. However, keep on digging for the truth. It doesn't answer the question of who is the down syndrome's real baby's momma.
It's just like Mesha said, "this girl have gone and got knock up again....Low self esteem and could not keep her first child, go get pregnant again" Mrs. VP selection is not the mom she claims to be. It appears that she might be too busy and not have enough time to for her kids.
Don't expect MSM to be fair towards Obama in this election. Here are some facts about MSM that you need to be aware of and why they are so biases in their opinions. All in the tank for GOP.
AP is solidly in the pocket of the GOP with Ron Fournier serving as Bureau Chief in Washington, D.C. It's common knowledge that rupert murdick and sam zell are on the board of directors of the AP.

Grannie, thats fine and dandy, but if the MSM, Faux news strategy doesn't work, JUST STEAL THE ELECTION, no receipts from the ballots, just hack the Diebold software!
I was quick to sound off that McCain must have been ca-ra-a-a-zy to select Palin but then pundits were quick to remind everyone of how Dan "potato with an 'e'" Quayle became vice president. Because you see, Americans really are that dumb.
And it turns out McC knew that Palin's daughter was pregnant. So the issue of his judgement is front and center but the pundits on the right are defending it all, even Obama. Could someone tell that man to shut his mouth?
