This culture warrior is a convicted felon.

There is a certain amount of irony that goes along with a man who makes a film about the beauty of America being a convicted felon.

I would love America too if I could steal money and make a movie about conservative values and be a hero to the folks who espouse said values.

This fascinating paradox is brought to you by one Dinesh D'Souza. You remember him, right? He is the guy who made a hit movie among conservatives which questioned the president's patriotism and his legitimacy.

Now he wants to make another one.

"Dinesh D’Souza, the conservative filmmaker and activist who recently plead guilty to campaign finance fraud charges, plans to premiere a 10-minute clip from his new film, titled simply America, during his appearance Saturday night at the 2014 Republican Leadership Conference. But before then, he released the two-minute teaser below, which shows D’Souza “soaring over America” in a helicopter as inspirational music plays in the background.

The new film, accompanied by a book of same name, is a follow-up to his 2012 documentary, 2016: Obama’s America, which became a surprise hit among conservative audiences. America, which will be released widely on July 2, takes a broader view than the previous anti-Obama film, focusing on his belief that the “notion of the essential goodness of America is under attack.”

D’Souza released the teaser clip to The Hollywood Reporter Saturday afternoon, saying he wanted to produce the film because currently “the left is winning the cultural war.”

“Republicans treat politics as a hobby while the left engages more in academia, culture and the media,” D’Souza continued. “Conservatives have been politically outmatched because they’re not fighting on their natural battlefield."

"Their natural battlefield". That would be anywhere where there are a lot of very white people, big bibles, and even bigger guns. Sounds like a real hoot.

Anyway, Dinesh has always been somewhat of a dick.

Outing your Gay classmates at a time when society viewed Gays in a totally different way is not cool.

What would be kind of cool is if one of those old classmates was in the US Attorney's office that prosecuted him.

"D'Souza's extremism traces back to his college days, when he was an editor of the Dartmouth Review, the leading conservative college publication of the early 1980s. (Wendy Long was a Dartmouth student and served as a trustee of the Review in the 1990s.) In that post, D'Souza became a hero to young conservatives across the nation (and the right-wing foundations looking to fund them). While he helmed the Review, it published a "lighthearted interview with a former Klan leader"—accompanied by a staged photo of a black person hanging from a tree—and an assault on affirmative action titled, "Dis Sho Ain't No Jive, Bro," which was written in Ebonics. ("Now we be comin' to Dartmut and be up over our 'fros in studies, but we still be not graduatin' Phi Beta Kappa.") The "Jive" article caused Jack Kemp, a conservative icon mindful of the right's problems with minority outreach, to resign from the Review's advisory board. Decades later, it's clear that D'Souza chose the path of the foul at an early point."

Yo Dinesh, I think you all are losing the "cultural wars" because conservatives are such assholes.

Dinesh is a bit arrogant. He is what he is because the right lacks genuine intellectual heft and this is what passes for that. I remember him debating Chris Hitchens about the existence of god and he used classic debate style but proved nothing. He tried to prove both rhetorically and scientifically but he failed the second part. I applaud his bravado but for anyone to claim they can prove the existence of god scientifically needs an ego check.

You need to watch the D'Souza vs Hitchins debate at Notre Dame again. Hitchins lost the debate to D'Souza very badly.

As it was reported among the scholars Hitchins was unable to even hold his ground on his arguments. D'Souza met Hitchins on 'his' own ground and beat him.

On that day, if I were an atheist, I would be hiding....D'Souza made Charley look like a fool.

Saw that. No matter if he won or lost the debate, he claimed he would scientifically prove the existence of god. I ask, did he do that to your satisfaction? I didn't think so. Bold claim that left me underwhelmed.

I also do not believe Hitchens lost the debate BTW. Dinesh uses too many "we don't know so god did it" arguments for my tastes.

walter said...

Hitchens brilliantly took down the Clintons (No One Left to Lie to) and wrote the definitive take on the Valerie Plame affair, exposing her husband Joe Wilson as a wretched little liar.

Trying to "scientifically" prove the existence of God misses the point. Atheism is just as much of a leap of faith.

The Purple Cow said...

Yeah, Hitch kicked D'Souza's ass in that debate, I thought D'Souza was particularly weak in that debate.

I disagree about atheism being a 'leap of faith'.

Atheism is based in rationality. It is based on what we know of the nature of the universe, and what we know about the causes of the existence of life.

It is not a leap of faith to say, "I have seen no evidence for the existence of gods." Why is it a leap of faith not to believe in something there is no evidence for? If you postulate that god or gods exist the burden of proof in on you. The burden of proof is not on those who disbelieve you.

Remember, disbelief and denial are not the same thing.

Anon, Many whites discriminate people simply based on appearance. This should tell you how foolish racism is. And I am not talking about airport security but about life in general where different people interact . A light skinned looking Arab walking down the street does not experience discrimination simply because no one knows he/she is Arabic. And that's if the woman is not dressed in a niqaab, a hijab or a chador. Many Arabs could pass for Italians, Greeks and Latinos. Indians feel the most discrimination because many whites believe that Indians are Arabs and that Arabs look dark, when many do not. FP, "though i don't really feel so welcome over here. for some reason, i keep being led back. there is someone here that He sends me to speak to.

I so glad you keep coming back. You are welcome in my eyes and heart. There ARE people on this blog who appreciate you, and look forward to your comments. They are terribly important. Not only that, they are a breath of fresh air.

However, there ARE some very sick hearts on FN. What would you expect on a site with terms like "Field Negro", "House Negro", "HNIC", "HNOTD", etc? These aren't exactly lovers of Christ...lol

IMO, all of this sick criticism and outrageous political blame is really a cry for Love. What else could it be?

I encourage you to watch the Hitchins/D'Souza debate about God. It pretty much lays out the human problem in mind and heart. D'Souza lays it out in spades. Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of Dinesh but he DID lay out the truth about the need for religion, and the existence of GOD. IMO, it is foolish for a human being, who is barely a 'speck' in this universe, to declare that there is no God, or Higher Power than himself. Hell, he can't even cure cancer. Why? Because he is an ignoramus pretending to 'know' a lot. Actually, he knows very little. D'Souza offered Hitchins a better explanation for the existence of a perfect Universe, the existence of the human race and Life itself. Hitchins could not offer much of anything.

Anyway, following that debate, Hitchins/ D'Souza debate was the talk on many college campuses. The talk was how badly Hitchins lost the debate. Before that, Hitchins was known as a great debater, an intellectual. He lost a lot of 'intellectual real estate' in that debate. Dinesh, whom I deplore, literally snuffed Hitchins out.

Man is not the alpha and omega of life or the universe. If he is, then we are all screwed.

PS. The movie, "GOD IS NOT DEAD" made me think of the D'Souza/Hitchins debate: The movie takes place on a college campus in a philosophy class where the student of faith, was forced to defend the existence of GOD. He debated the professor who was a 'fundamentalist atheist'...Great movie for atheists, agnostics, believers and knowers!

PilotX said...

Ha! Anon says you're not a good debater. A radio program and the internet are horrible forums for debate. See as evidence here, a troll can make a clearly incorrect claim and then declare itself the victor. A radio host can talk over a guest and cut the mic. A college debater would know this.
As far as atheism being the same leap of faith as theism that is conservative thinking. Everything is not a black or white.

Democrat talking points FN?

The VA has plenty of money, just bad leadership
Since 2009, Congress has given Secretary Eric Shinseki every penny he has said he needed to fund the VA fully, resulting in an astonishing 50% increase in the agency's overall budget at a time when budgets everywhere else across the federal government have been squeezed, strained and slashed.
...
Our gut reaction to contemporary social and bureaucratic challenges may be to throw more money at the problem or to blame Congress, but this is one situation in which such simple excuses fall far short. A lack of resources within the VA is not to blame for the failures of that department, and even if it were, the responsibility for that underfunding would lay solely at the feet of the secretary due to his inadequate budget requests, not with Congress.

First, there has been extraordinarily little backlash against Muslims here, despite the continuing violence perpetrated by Muslims.

Second Indians are not trying to be categorized as white. We used to count Indians and Arabs as 'white', since they are technically Caucasian, but the Obama administration changed the census accounting to pull them out of the white classification and now, no matter how rich or educated they are, they can qualify for AA benefits.

The left wants to fragment the traditional majority population as much as possible. At the 2012 Democratic convention, they were referring to "Mediterranean American" delegates, as the first attempt at separating southern Europeans from Northern Europeans.

That's how the left rolls - separate, agitate, subjugate. Many small, mutually distrustful identity groups are much easier to control than a unified nation.

Hispanic is not a race, it signifies what language one's ancestors spoke. "Non-Hispanic whites" would have been counted as white, but now they are pulled out separately.

No one wants to be classified as white, there is too much money in being classified as anything else.

I disagree about atheism being a 'leap of faith'.

I know what you are saying, I used to try to be a strict rationalist, and you are right, there is no observable presence of God in the world.

That is, whether there is God above managing things, or whether the universe functions by a set of immutable rules, the universe functions exactly the same. Every time I drop something under controlled conditions, it falls down. Every time. No amount of prayer can change that.

But to work with only what we, as part of the universe itself, can observe means ignoring that which we cannot. Getting within a few milliseconds of the Big Bang doesn't tell us why there was a Big Bang.

I think that believing in a universe with no plan is as much a leap of faith as believing that there is some meaning to the universe.

As part of the tiny fraction of the universe that is self-aware, I want there to be plan. And if there isn't, we should make sure there is one.

Anon, We all know that Hispanics is not a race. Who said that? I was talking about how people look to others? There are many Arabs who can pass for white and they encounter no problem at all in their daily lives here, but the ones who get harassed, are the dark skinned Indians, and for what reasons, simply because some racist whites think they are Arab/Muslims, when these people are not Muslims but either Hindus, Sikhs or Jains. The mere appearance of being dark is the problem to whites and not their religion. Americans do not have a problem with Arabs and Islam as long as they keep it to themselves but their problem is with dark skinned people. Indians could say they are Caucasians until they turn blue, the truth is, the majority are dark skinned and you know darn well whites are not going for that. As a matter of fact in the Supreme Court case United States v Bhagat Singh Thind in 1923, an Indian individual claimed he was Caucasian or Aryan and deserved citizenship and the Supreme Court said no.

Joyce, "...Dinesh is a sorry self hating fool...."

Why do you say that?

Is it the same reason why some Blacks are self-hating fools?

How much do you know about the 'East' Indian culture?

FYI: East Indians don't want to be classified as Whites because they are not interested in being White. However, they prefer to be classified as White simply because NO ONE wants to be classified as Black only if they 'have' to.

Of course, Joyce, you know this right? I mean, we have so many self-hating folks in our race who don't want to be Black it is pretty obvious isn't it? Our race is riddled with sell-outs and uncle toms. There is no one to trust because 99% of the time they will dime you out to the wm...right?

Why is it AAs spend their time guessing at why Indians, Arabs, Latinos, etc act and get ahead because of their skin color, education, and culture-- YET, IGNORE how Blacks are acting and losing?

Why can't we focus on ourselves? Let me answer that for you. We have such low self-esteem and so shame-based that it's too painful to even admit our own faults. Until we start looking inside ourselves, those 'other' races that we are analyzing will far far far outpace us.

You see, we don't know how to think "Black First." We can only think about "Others First."

In my personal experience, this is nonsense. The vast majority of whites have a high opinion of Indians. By and large, the Indians who come here are in the top 1% of their country's cognitive and financial elite. Skin color has nothing to do with it.

What matters is culture, not color. Except to the government and its parceling out of benefits. That's why Hispanics have no interest in passing as white, they would lose too much in favoritism.

More linear thinking. Some aspects of the VA are run well. My father in law, Vietnam vet, has mostly positive interactions with the VA. Like any huge organization there are going to be some missteps and faults but we can't just throw the baby out with the bathwater. A huge problem is so many anti-government types in government who live only to sabotage any government function so they can tell us government doesn't work. This was clearly evident during the Bush administration. Republicons are good at two things, criticizing government and mucking up government. If they could offer solutions maybe we could fix this problem sooner.

Anon, you are living under a rock.Don't tell me you are not aware of the crime against Sikhs? The problem with many of the non-whites and minorities who practice colorism and racism is they often forget how easy prejudice can come back to show its nasty gears against them. And this goes for the Jews, Arabs,Blacks, Asians especially Indians, Latinos, and yes whites, etc. This is for everyone. We must stop the prejudice and racism. We must stop the foolishness because we are not immune from it coming right back at us and hitting
us like a boomerang.

Whitey's Conspiracy said...

Just to be clear: D'Souza's crime wasn't some accidental running askance some obscure campaign finance technicality: he's a racketeer even if he wasn't prosecuted under RICO. He bundled multiple contribution limits of his own money by submitting them through straw donors to his friend's campaign. Crime doesn't get much more organized than a completed conspiracy. It'll be interesting to see weather his sentence reflects his crime or his connections.

"Anon@12:12, I wasn't debating Uncle Jesse on his show, I was a guest.

And I don't believe u even finished high school .

Just my humble opinion. I could be wrong, but I doubt it."

You need to go back and listen to yourself on his show. You certainly didn't come off as someone with a college education, considering JLP made you look uneducated.

Where I come from, EVERYBODY goes to college. It's not even a second thought....everyone goes.

I went to Georgetown. Where did you go?

IMO, you don't have a law degree but you probably have a GED. However, it's easy to fool FN folks like PilotX. He doesn't know much and comes from the south side of Chicago where it's difficult to finish even HS. In fact, most don't.

Good luck on getting to be "a return guest" on JLP's radio show. At least, that was what was discussed at the end of your time on his show?

However, I am sure he is looking for someone who is a lot more interesting and has some debating skills, and is a lot more articulate.

Anon 12:53pm- thanks for your kind words. been trying to shake the dust from my feet where folk make it clear they have no interest. i think Granny and others gave me this advice here before. + that's what's written. this is why i make my assertion.

it seems that folk don't quite Understand that Scriptures is a history book that also tells what will come. those paying attention would be hard pressed to miss all that is unfolding precisely as written. or maybe folk from Ethiopia to Libya to Israel to the US are all playing a role designed to fit the Scriptures? lol.

it seems that folk will pay attention to every scholar but the history and religious ones. in favor of very weird "science"...

hearing folk hoping that man can come up with "a plan" better than what is written= frightful. we are witnessing "man's plan"...with the womenfolk jumping in the new order out of chaos fray.

you mentioned the movies. i don't really watch them anymore. h-llywood is very much steeped in the occult.

so it stands to reason their offerings carry that energy for me. hopefully the movie you reference is one of the few good ones and opens people's eyes to where they really are.

before it is too late.

Good to talk to you Anon;)

Blessings all!

http://henrymakow.com/2014/05/edward-snowdenproves-education.html

that article puts it into words better than i can or have time to allocate to trying right now.

and we haven't even seen the full effects of the core curriculum nightmare- where folk get the serious mind bend/program and slap an "education" label on it. those that are most "educated" these days all say pretty much the same thing...and not much of any it makes any sense.

you can shut folk down, mid sentence, by calling them an anti semite. no one will ever think to ask what that is and what it has to do with Abraham or Scriptures? ;( + ;) 'cause it cracks me up personally.

i suppose towing the line= more important. then blaming the government/politicians like folk never read + Understood that the act of 1871 dissolved america and replaced it with a corporation of british law and rule. this republic started out as their criminals + traitors and pretty much never really changed. unless folk count the for the worse change that now affects ALL americans in differing degrees.

pres= president (unless he has too much melanin. then the jesuit behind him runs the show. or some other less melanined hidden hand;)

sup court= board of directors

congress = executives

citizen= livestock/employees

it's ok if folk didn't know. that might mean you are supa dupa "educated".

which for the record, i should say i respect true education. the mis-education is what i revolt against. add a grip of white supremacy to it and i am Good.

wish i could find nice white folk that will just candidly tell it like it is, as if they were not in mixed company as to their beef with the system that is set up to benefit them most. they seem rather miffed these days, like their whiteness isn't cutting it like it used to or something.

does anyone else remember when "professional" meant you got paid to do something?

or is that just me? when did the mind bend + shift to something else happen?

random side notes for post from here:

the woman that refused to denounce her Belief in Messiah is scheduled for release;)

+the mingled lady (that's Biblical and the Blessed Blacks are also mingled, before folk get heated with me.) in the Sterling case was just as i called it. though i won't be expecting a post on it. racism= white people. menfolk for the most part. the competition;) are the face of racism in these parts.

we Blessed Blacks need to learn when to act white. this blogger does an excellent breakdown:

http://muslimbushido.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-importance-of-context-and-nuances.html

believe it or not when folk attack BO from a racist slant, he = Black for me. when he is doing stuff to hurt the interests of Black folk...

not so much.

biracials hop all around as it benefits them, so i don't feel too bad moving them all around, either.

for those that think my opinion on this blog = a threat to their opinion:

calm down please;) there are no "experts" over here to my knowledge. just folk exchanging ideas, opinions, and insults. lol!

okey doke, peacing out for Real, now. stuff to do.

Much Love FN folk!

Yeah Bill is pretty much a one trick pony. Very much the contrarian on all things having to do with the Democratic Party.

One trick?

Hhmmm.

Have you noticed the very same could be said about you?

Like praising democrats and bashing all things right-wing?

I suspect that if my posts were all about praising republicans and slamming Democrats we would never hear from him.

Easy enough to prove if you weren't so partisan.

IF only you could speak bad about democrats to test your theory.

Ideally, you would bash both parties like they both deserve.

Bill said...

PilotX said...
And once again Bill equates a critique of Republicans as a defense of Dems. Linear thinking much?

As said by someone that insists I'm a republican because I critique democrats.

If only you could hold yourself to the same high standard you hold me.

Which is interesting because if I recall correctly he told us he was a union member.

Think back... and google if you need to.
Just because I made fun of your union for being in the OpenSecrets list of top political donors of all time above koch industries , I had no problem with your union.

Think back.

Private company employees unions okay
Government employees unions bad

Do you remember the point I made about YOUR union doesn't donate your union dues to your employee like government unions donate back to the politicians?

How do think Obama got $750 million for his 2008 campaign?

Bill is right, it's a corrupt circle of taxpayer's money.

Uh Bill? My post had NOTHING to do with this claptrap you just posted, I was simply wondering if you were a union member or not is all. That is a simple yes or no, nobody cares about your opinions about such. Let's see if you can manage this, are you a member of a union or did I read a former post of yours incorrectly? Thanks.

If they decide to form/join a union they are entitled to do such. Cops and firefighters benefit from such representation.

Public sector unions should not be allowed to donate to the people who employ them.

Googled-

To start with, the overwhelming majority of the links to "dumbocrats" happen in 2010 or before.

1. You calling dems dumbocrats for cryin foul when "Mr Morton" (some of that FN respect for veterans I assume) was courting black people. You also said McSame was just playing politics. Admitting the dumbocrats were right.

2. You are happy for the dumbocrats for passing healthcare.
If only those dumbocrats made Obamacare single payer they wouldn't be dumbocrats.

3. Wow. You actually called Harry Reid a racist for his words
Dumbocrats shouldn't get a pass on racial insensitivity just because we are ideological soul mates on most issues.
My how 4 years has changed the FN agenda.

4.dumbocrats and republiclowns for not passing amnesty.

5. dumbocrats for not pushing Obama over howard dean.

6. dumbocrats for allowing right wingers to win elections.

7. dumbocrats for the blago Obama replacement.

8. dumbocrats for running hillary against "Mr Morton" because it would hold down the black vote.

PilotX said...

"I said I was when I was mocking your union and their political contributions."

Just making sure. As far as my union's political contributions they seem to be effective as we are making headway on the political issues we are concerned about. Our adversaries, i.e. super wealthy government owned airlines have a huge advantage in money but we seem to be doing ok with what we have.
Like I said, a Republican union member. Interesting.
